I'm a Bremerton native that moved down to San Diego a good 17 years ago, but all my family is still here - so I turn up once a year to visit, pick berries and enjoy the great NW Summer. My brother lives up on the hill in front of Brother Don's and suggested we stop in for a beer on the way back from the airport before proceeding to my parents house (always a good idea!). I'll admit, at first I was a little taken aback - I've lived far away for too long and I'd forgotten the dark 70's sports bar vibe that Bremerton seems to be known for. Once my eyes adjusted, we settled in at a table by the back window and I ordered a Rainy Daize IPA (and a remarkably tasty burger and hand cut fries), I was hooked. Bremerton has never had great restaurants overall, but this is an especially solid casual option for this area of town. We've been there twice on this visit and both times there have been families and older couples who generally are still stuck in the 70's, but no scary biker types. The locals have a pleasant convivial vibe. Yeah, there will probably be people out front facing the parking lot smoking, but that's no big deal to me. The menu is limited, but they do a great job on the food they do serve and have very reasonable prices. read more

Brother Don's represents the eternal conundrum of Yelpers everywhere: do I grade this against the newest 4-star restaurant I just visited or do I grade this against the shadiest-of-the-shady dive bar in "that" part of town? I'll grade it against the latter, mostly because Brother Don's has no business trying to compete against a four-star restaurant, and doesn't even try. It's pretty much a dive-y place, but that's fine. I came here with my husband and some friends after they lost a soccer game. Apparently this is the team's post-game "spot" and it works perfectly for that. The big screen TV was playing the Mariners game, another table was playing a friendly game of cards, and the waitress promptly brought frosty pitchers of yummy Irish Death to the table. Unexpected nice touch of the evening: the owner came over and chatted with us for awhile; he's a local and a graduate of Washington State University (Go Cougs!), so in a nutshell he's a pretty cool guy. The kitchen is open until nine, and serves pretty standard bar fare. My portion of fried mushrooms was enormous. It was a "side order" and I could not finish it on my own. The tacos were tasty and if it were up to my husband he'd give this place five stars on the sheer fact that he can order a "farm burger" (a bacon cheeseburger topped with a fried egg). I'm a bit more discerning and give Don's a solid three stars. The food was fine but nothing spectacular and the vibe is one that my more "particular" friends would probably not appreciate. In a town with a butt-load of fast food places... where when I asked the most interesting thing in town, I'm told it's the road out of town.. this place was clearly the right choice. Driving up north to pick up a friend's new/used car, we were too far from Seattle on a horrendously driving rain kind of day, and we needed food before heading back. The small downtown restaurants were too pricey and fast food holds little to no appeal. So the 3 of us found this place. A beautiful view overlooking the water but obstructed by trees (the clouds parted, and the sun shone for a bit when we weren't actually driving). A bar on the right, a deck over the water that seemed to have no way to get to it. They have their own parking lot and the place was fairly crowded on a Saturday afternoon. We got some cocktails and a burger & fries, fish & chips w/ slaw and a eggs benedict, respectively. The fish and slaw was quite good, (4 star fish!) and the burger & fries just fine. Toby tells me the eggs were good as well but selfishly didn't offer me a bite. Prices are decent - in the $10/11 range, and they seem to have some awesome specials during the week. The waitress was just fine and the people were all busy with their groups and having a good old time. Drink prices were pretty low from what I remember although I couldn't finish my white russian (nothing against the drink, i guess i just wasn't feeling the lebowski that day). read more

So I moved here about two years ago, my fiancé was stationed here and he deployed shortly after we arrived. I didn't know much about the city and was eating at a fast food restaurant when 2 older gentlemen started making friendly conversation. They were having their morning coffee and began talking about the history of Bremerton to me after they found out I was not from here. I asked where the best places in town to eat were and they asked for what type of food. They seemed to know what they were talking about, this place was mentioned for the best fish and chips "in kitsap county" he says. Upon entering the place.. bar, I was not expecting much however the fish and chips was VERY good. I have since ordered numerous things on the menu and continue to come back. They have a great salad selection compared to many places with good filling potions and great burgers. I have never tried the pizza however I have been told they're known for that too by a coworker. All in all this place is a hole in the wall, nothing fancy, but has great home style food. read more

I think the best way to describe this place would be as a dive restaurant. Stopped in there on Tuesday because me and a friend had never been there before. You could tell it was one of those places where the regulars really ruled the place. I think this one lady chain smoked outside the entire hour or so we were there. So I sort of felt uncomfortable walking it as we got some stares like we were seriously out of place. I'm not the type of person to let things like that get to me though. We ordered up a pitcher of Mac & Jac's (I was pretty let down by the beer selection there, not much good on tap) and a pizza. Beer was beer. Pizza was better than we expected but pricier that it was worth. Solid though. Good experience over all with the service and the food but not a place I can say I'll be coming back anytime soon. I can get both better beer and pizza elsewhere. read more

I ordered fish and chips, spicy shrimp, chili, and onion rings through Door Dash and the food arrived hot and fresh. This was the best food I have ever had in Bremerton and I am hard to please since I have been a food/restauranteer all my life. Great job and keep up the good work. Unfortunately it was terrible today. Usually a great lunch place but today it took 25 minutes to get a salad and fish and chips. French fries tasted like they were not fresh and fish was heavy with grease. I brought up the wait time with 2 employees.. not even an apology.. what a disappointment. read more

Great burgers and I was surprised when the waitress actually offered lime with our coronas. My boyfriend and I both agreed that's the first place to do that that we have eaten at. I was told that this place really good, My fiance and I brought our youngsters here for dinner and we were seated in the bar with a bunch of lush's drooling (literally) all over my newborn baby. The place was really loud and cold. The service was terrible, the waitress kept forgetting stuff, and the food was either undercooked or overcooked. Go here for breakfast in Bremerton, you won't find anything better for it. Other than that.... OK bar, generally consistent lunch and dinner food... It's one of the best three restaurants in Bremerton, though in this case that's strictly relative. This place is pretty much a bar; kind of like a 1970s style bar and grill. Not overly ornate; kind of ratty looking inside. The atmosphere is "corner bar" more than restaurant. The food is pretty good ( I recommend the Teriyaki Chicken Salad) and not too spendy. The service is not all that great, but the staff and customers (some seemed like regulars) were all friendly. I always thought of Brother Dons of a bar and not a restaurant . I have not had food there but I can say that the people are nice. Very difficult to get in and out of the traffic from Kitsap Way and limited to parking spaces. Might have to stop by and try the burgers. My friends being 21-25 gravitate to the music, dancing, boy meets girl crowd on the weekends and Brother Dons does not offer this for our crowd. But they do have beer and burgers. The food is decent (good specials, otherwise okay) and prices are good, tho the service is spotty at best - always slow. But it's just about the best place in town for catching live, original music. Brother Don's has been a West Bremerton Staple for years and has recently revamped their menu. I gave one of their new summer salads a go over the weekend and really enjoyed the Spinich and Artichoke salad. It was light, flavorful (love me some artichokes) and had a light Italian dressing to give it some zing. I found the price and portion to be good value at $9.99. My husband and I also shared a veggie pizza on thin crust (with plenty leftovers for lunch the next day). The pizza there has always been great, but I found the $16.99 to be just a bit on the high side. All in all, we enjoyed our meal, the service was consistent without being intrusive and we left content. read more

They have live Jazz every week. A grand piano! Which I love. A gentlemen named Ray Ohls and his trio play here every month and I was lucky enough to be there on a night he was around. My girlfriend and I waiting quite a long time for our food and even longer for the check to come(which never did) . We ended up putting cash on the table and leaving. I stumbled on this place and was pleasantly surprised. As the earlier reviews stated, this place is a classic dive, but in a good way. I went in on a Sunday evening to be entertained by live music that was really good, cold beer and some of the best fish and chips that I have had in a while. The placed reminded me of where the old hippies went to to hang out. It was an older generation that knew how to have a good time. The atmosphere was great and the people were friendly. Horrible service!!! The long hair owner is rude as hell. I walk up to the bar to order a beer and tacos. The guy next to me tries to order some tacos first and the owners response is "I don't have the time" then I try to order a beer and tacos, he gives my beer and ignores my taco order, later telling to wait around for a waitress that will help me. I drank my whole beer and got no service for tacos. Paid for my beer and left giving no tip. Never have I met such a rude bartender or had such horrible service! read more

The bartender was Kirsty and she did an excellent job, not only did I think so but I overheard several other tables comment about how well she was doing. Ordered the fish and chips (first time in almost 4 yrs that I did that) all I can say is great! Also they have specials on drinks on Mondays and an extremely cheap steak on Thursdays. Brother Don's has excellent food and drinks at very good prices. During happy hour, the prices on food and drinks are really amazing and not many places in town can even compete. It would be accurate to say "best bar food in town." The atmosphere might be questionable to some people. Don't let the ambiance fool you. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcomed. The service is great, even when the place gets crowded. The bartenders make strong drinks. The clientele consists of a decent mix of people of various ages.
