I went for tint and just that, I did inquire about laminating but she wanted to assess my eyebrows. She saw that someone previously took too much off one side and it was completely different. She actually explained and got them back. She showed me how it look and said it's clean you can actually get lamination if you'd like and tint. She checked on me and let me know and I see so many coming in looking for her. But she handled workload very well. Love how she fixed them. I'm not sure why there are such bad reviews of this place. Perhaps it's the beautician someone is seeing? I have been coming here for over 5 years when they were just a booth in the middle of the mall. I was thrilled they got their own store in the mall and now an even better, bigger spot near the nail salon. I prefer parking in the back of the mall than the front, so I love their new location next to Foxy Nails and across from the men's side of H&M. Since my skin is not a fan of hot wax and I had a lot of irritation after, I started doing threading. I liked that this place hired Indian women. That might sound weird, but being an Indian woman, I knew I wouldn't get brows that are too thin or short. That was always my problem with waxing. Too much being taken off and it didn't look natural. Having women with similar eyebrow types as myself, it made it easier and better and made me more comfortable and confident to know they'd do a good job. I started seeing Amna there before she moved (so sad) and then quickly picked two other ladies there and don't get my eyebrows or anything else on my face done by anyone else there. Nima is FANTASTIC. If you go, go see her! In fact, she "shadowed" Amna before she moved, so she knew how to do my brows. She is gentle with the thread and her movements are quick so they are painless. If you are in pain when you go, you need to find a new threader. She also won't do your brows if she honestly believes you don't need it. I remember going in there once and she said "You don't need anything. Or it'll be too thin" and I was happy with that. The other girl, Alya is someone else I see mostly for other parts of my face (lip) because she is also quick and gentle, but I prefer Nima to tend to my brows. I haven't had anyone else do my brows there because honestly, I don't trust the others and don't know how they work. I am not the type of person to leave a review but the lady that did my eyebrows was ridiculous. She finished my brows in less than two minutes and seemed very rushed for me to leave. She was not gentle at all during the threading and caused bleeding on my heart right eyebrow. She missed several spots which I didn't even want to have her fixed since she was adamant about making the process quick. I should have taken before and after photos. After a bad wax job, I left my brows untouched for MONTHS trying to grow them back in thickly and evenly. My plan was to save up and go to one of those fancy places that charge $50 to shape your brows. That way, I'd be sure to avoid the disaster that happened last time. Then I got a call for an interview. An interview they wanted to schedule the next day, before any spas open. This little mall shop with mediocre reviews was literally my only option. Let me tell you, the woman who did my brows mowed down my overgrown brows so quickly and painlessly I didn't know she was done when she handed me the mirror until I looked at it. No wonder the wait was so short. The price was good ($12+tip), too, and everyone was kind to me. They made sure to wish me luck as I left. I'd be interested to go back and try brow tinting ($25) sometime when I can afford to take a few risks. read more

I feel bad giving this review cause I'm gonna sound like such an angry bitch, but what can I do? I've come to this place three times in total, each time thinking that $12 isn't a bad price to get my brows shaped and cleaned up. Each time was a failure. They always come out so fucking thin and incredibly uneven. It makes me really sad. But I keep trying because I'm generous and low-key feel the need to support small businesses like this, because my parents were immigrants who owned a little Chinese restaurant and I get the same vibe that this might be a owned and run by family business. Anyway. This time I decided to go and get them CLEANED UP, because I love my shape. I tell the lady, she nods. But when Im sitting in the chair I feel actual hairs being pulled out, but I keep faith because I told the lady and she nodded, so I just stay quiet. But then when she gives me the little handheld mirror I see how thin they are and even MORE uneven than when I do them myself :( When I do my own brows, I need to take a decade because its hard to get them to look really even (mine are inherently uneven, so it takes time). So you can imagine my heart plummeting to my gut when I see how visibly uneven they are. One is incredibly arched and the other is flatter and doesn't have the curve. Made me really sad and disappointed and wondered why I decided to give in and give this place a try again. Long story short, I think this place is good for people who have thick, beautiful, rich brows that have a defined shape and not that much ambiguity, because you will know what shape you are supposed to get (it will just look right), and they will too. But as for me, who has brows that aren't very defined or thick, I require a approach that uses a combination of precision TWEEZING and threading/waxing. Not just the threading method they use here. Also, I get the impression they just try to get you in the chair and out, because my entire procedure took only a few minutes. I dunno. She just asked if I wanted lotion, smacked it on my face, and I was ready to go. On the other hand, my friend who has beautifully thick eyebrows (she's also Indian, does this make a difference? She can speak Hindi with them, I dunno) gets her brows done here and she leaves looking like a fucking GODDESS, so that's what always makes me also feel tempted to come back and get them done, believing that they can also make the same magic work on me, but it has failed thrice. So, I won't be coming back here again, and I just want to warn everyone that it seems like this place is just a huge big HIT OR MISS. So please be careful girls. I'm just going to have to slowly regrow these brows and hope I don't get any sparse(r) or bald spots :( Much love and sending positive energy to your brows if they were fucked up by this establishment. The only good that has come out of visiting here is now I am 100% going to only allow ME, MYSELF, and I to do my brows. Having come to appreciate getting my brows threaded on occasion at the mall, I figured it would be worth a try here when I moved out to Ann Arbor. The first time I went, several months ago, I went home with lopsided eyebrows that made it look like I was constantly raising one eyebrow. While that's funny for a few minutes, it's definitely not what you want to look like on a daily basis. Understanding that mistakes can happen and willing to give a second chance, I went again last weekend. It was definitely the fastest I've ever had my eyebrows threaded... But that's not necessarily a good thing. The skin around my brows is fairly sensitive I guess, so it's usually red for an hour or so afterwards. This time, it was still red and puffy the next day, and I had several red bumps, which has never happened before. I might go back just because the location is convenient, but threading is something I can do without, and I'd much rather find somewhere to go where I can get better results... read more

I returned and in a quicker than usual fashion, in not even 15 minutes, my eyebrows were threaded, trimmed, cleaned, moisturized and ready for their closeup. I'm trying to for most see what the disconnect is for most people. Maybe threading isn't for everyone, but I've gone into this place a handful of of times with a different lady doing my brows each time and I consistently come away looking great. There's not much to be said for the pricing. For upkeep, in this town, you will pay. Whether it be nails, massages, or something as "minute" as eyebrows you will pay. I used to get my eyebrow"s done at the same place I go to get a massage and paid way more for lower quality work. I'm talking lopsided, looking as if they weren't even done for $18. When there's less competition and people are willing to pay, you can have crazy prices like that. $12 isn't much to pay if you like what you're getting. I had been getting my brows waxed for years but after having a lot of "hit or miss" waxes I decided I'd try threading. I think the main difference between threading vs waxing is it allows for a more natural look/shape. The 'lines' threading creates aren't severe and if you have sensitive skin you don't have to worry about wax irritating your brows. I've been to Brow Art 23 on two separate occasions and have been very happy with the results. They charge $12 which is a lot cheaper than what some spas charge for waxing (I've paid $20+ for a wax before). This location used to be in the middle of the mall, where anyone walking by could watch you, but they've recently opened up in an actual 'store' location so there is more privacy. read more

Threading of the eyebrows gives your eyes a more defined and shaped look. Compared to waxing where I have often times been given the straight wax across the brows with no defined arch to them. I tried threading and I like it a lot! Brow Art 23 does a really god job of creating an arch or going with the natural arch of your eyebrows. The service is fast and they do a good job! The ladies even try and stop and give you a short rest if it gets a little too painful. Which it does for me sometimes :-) It's not excruciating pain but it does make my eyes water. Not a bad place if you want a quick work on your eyebrows. They charge $12 for eyebrow threading and $7 for upper lips. There are two ladies who do all the work. They are really sweet, polite, professional and quick. Threading did not hurt at all but later I noticed that it left marks on my eyebrows. Guess the lady was little harsh. Terrible! Do NOT go here! A year and some time ago, I went here and left with a few spots on my skin ripped out and bleeding. Stupidly, because I was at the shoe repair shops next to it and had extra time, I went back today. I thought perhaps the previous time was a fluke. Before I sat down, I asked her to please be careful because my skin is fragile. But she ripped my skin in 3 separate places! AGAIN! These gouges were actively bleeding. She wiped them with witch hazel on a cotton ball-- without gloves. This was not bleeding from the hair follicles, but from my skin being caught in the string. THREE TIMES. It has left 3 small but painful and visible lacerations. She said, "Your skin is too sensitive." Cold. Mean. Completely uncaring. I am never ever ever going back.
