Was planning my visit to the parks in Utah and came across Brown Box on TikTok and their "Kazookie"! It's a skillet cookie where you get to create it yourself by choosing which doughs, ice creams, and toppings you want. You can get small or large. When I arrived, I discovered it was the cutest place that also serves food. We were heading to Coral Pink Sands and only got the Kazookie, so I can't speak on the food, but the Kazookie is a MUST-DO 10/10! So yummy! Service was fast. If you're in Kanab and you're in the mood for a sweet treat, do it!

Great cafe in Kanab. The staff were friendly and food came out fast. Grilled cheese was perfectly toasted and paired well with the soup. Tried the Kanookie which was also very good. I'm usually a fan of a regular chocolate chip cookie but I actually preferred their double chocolate cookies (both regular and in the kanookie). Depending on the time of day and size of your group seating inside could possibly be an issue. Street parking out front (free).

The ice cream here was suuuuper yummy! I had a pina colada flavor single scoop in a cake cone, and it was the perfect refreshing dessert on a hot summer day in Kanab. The shop itself is super cute, and while we ate our ice cream we looked at all the goods they also sell there. The service was also quite friendly, and we felt welcomed from the moment we came in to the moment we left. Next time we are in Kanab, we will be back!

Ice cream was too light and didn't taste any milk. Not sure they use milk at all for ice cream. I like a rich and creamy one.

This is the spot after a long hike! We came out here after a long day of exploring and this was definitely the right place to go! The space gave the energy we needed to keep going on our trip! The staff was welcoming and the space was cozy! The grilled cheese was served hot, gooey, crispy, and delicious! We were wandering the streets of Kanab looking for a light dinner. Our prayers were answered when we checked out Brown Box. In addition to being a popular ice cream spot they have a tempting array of dinner choices. We got the 3 way combo of salad and soup and cookie. Add a grilled cheese sandwich and we had all we needed for $20. Perfect! The young staff is enthusiastic and efficient. Highly recommended .

Such an awesome place! Staff is super nice and the building itself is super nice and inviting. Breadsticks were some of the best ever, and the grilled cheese was great for only being $6. Ice cream was solid, I got Cookie Monster and it tasted good but the texture was a little off. Still great overall though. It's a popular spot among the locals and does get crowded at times though, so just try not to go during peak dinner hours.

Friendly staff, cute little shop, located right on the main street of town. We got two scoops of ice cream, Cadbury egg and peanut butter. The Cadbury egg was unique and I loved it! Big, generous scoops. Parking available in the back if you can't find street parking up front. We will be back!

Stopped by the Brown Box while Raving in Kanab Utah. The food was spectacular, grilled cheese caprese topped with some balsamic was amazing. Couples it with soup, basil tomato for her and white chicken chili for me, very good. You come for the food, but you stay for the deserts....great choices and the cookies are the best. read more

Everything was delicious. The four of us easily spent near $100 here for lunch...not because it's expensive, but because the food is so darn good, combined with the atmosphere, we just kept ordering more food and hung out on the couches after eating our meal...enjoying our "kanookie", and ice creams. If you live here or if you're just passing by, you have to try this place! It is absolutely delicious. Everything is homemade, including the ice creams and baked goods. You can absolutely tell by the quality and flavor of everything. I come here for the cookie dessert with ice cream on top. it's kind of like a Pazooki from one of those other restaurants but it is so much better because of the homemade ice cream and cookie. I've also had their grilled cheese and salad and soup. Everything is just so good. I'm honestly getting hungry ready this review. We've had all of the cookies and they make seasonal ones as well. Wow- ok, all I can say is - FABULOUS. Kanab has long been needing some new food options, ESPECIALLY good ice cream, and Brown Box has ticked all my happy boxes. Absolutely delicious ice cream. Amazing cookies and grilled cheese. The ice cream doesn't have any nasty chemicals or preservatives in it - it's just good, real food ingredients. So, so grateful for this place. Cannot say enough good things about it. Also a place with a mission, which I really support. I love their story. If you haven't tried the kanookie, come with a friend and go for it. It's so fun and so delicious, but very rich. Perfect after a day of hiking or before - to fuel the day! My tastebuds are still singin' hallelujah. read more

This is the cutest, sweetest place. We put in an order for the Gourmet grilled cheese (the bread is delicious like omg??) as well as the Caprese and it was so, so good (especially after a long day at the parks). There was a little bit of a wait but expected on a Saturday night, they gave us a cookie because of the wait. The ice cream is so good too, we got a Dirty Oreo waffle cone, they had a few other flavors as well, I wish I could have had them all but alas I can only have so much ice cream. There are gifts inside the shop as well, if you're looking for unique gifts - I suggest popping into here. :) Y'all are so nice, definitely will stop by here again when adventuring next time. read more

We tried this yesterday for the first time. I had the classic grilled cheese and the gourmet grilled cheese. And my wife had the vegan grilled cheese. I'm not kidding, those were the best grilled cheeses I've had in a long time. The bread was great and the cheese was delicious. My neighbor tells me their tomato soup is really good too. We will be back to try the rest of the things on the menu. Also, the prices are good. Especially compared to the other food offerings in Kanab. read more

Super cute woman owned business serving up delicious cookies & locally made ice cream. Cookies are soft on the inside, little crunchy on the outside...if you like butterscotch, give the oatmeal scotchies a try. AMAZING. PB cookie & cinnamon roll were also winners. I wasn't tremendously hungry, but I did want dinner. The brown box had been recommended and it was perfect. I got a bowl of soup and a grilled cheese sandwich - I chose the pesto sandwich - and it came with a cookie as part of their combo deal for under $14! The grilled cheese was really spectacular. And the soup was homemade and quite delicious. It's not some place I would go to every night, but boy did it hit the spot. read more

Our menu features dishes meticulously prepared from cherished family recipes, all crafted in-house from scratch using only genuine, high-quality ingredients.

History

Established in 2022.

The Brown Family has been doing business in some form or another on this little corner of Kanab since 1966! When the building that now houses Brown Box became vacant in 2021, Emily (co-owner) felt nudges to make it into another family business. As Emily connected with her cousin, Lacee (co-owner), at their Grandpa Brown's funeral they discussed the possibility of opening a dessert shop together. They dove head first into creating and researching and Brown Box Bakeshop was born on August 18, 2022! A very special motivation for this venture was Emily's little brother, Nathan, who has Down syndrome. He loves to be around people and needed an opportunity to continue to associate with others in his adult years. Nathan's aide, Bobbie, is known for her amazing homemade ice cream and so Nate & Bobbie (and Emily) began posting their ice cream for sale on social media and delivering it to buyers' doors weekly. Their ice cream was a hit and Brown Box was created to be its permanent home!

Meet the Business Owner: Emily - Lacee B.

Many of our Brown Family traditions involve gathering around the table to connect over a delicious meal or treat. Inspired by our family, Lacee honed her baking skills in the form of cakes, cookies, and Grandma Brown's famous sweet rolls while Emily developed her love of preparing delicious homemade meals. Only in Kanab is a friendly little food truck in the SAMCO/Silver Eagle gas station parking lot…read more When we arrived around 6PM for a Sunday dinner, the little parking area right next to the truck was full of customers waiting to pick up their burgers, but there wasn't a line to order. Per the cashier, Zuzu, there would be an 18 minute wait for our food. She was on the dot correct, and 18 minutes later, we were biting in: Kanab Burger + Fries ($19) - Let's start with the patty. It's really good quality, about half an inch thick after cooking, still with a good portion of pink at medium-well doneness, resulting in a burger with plenty of moisture remaining inside. The patty, slightly smaller than the size of the bun, is charred well, but still tender and extremely beefy inside. The burger is slathered with a ton of chimichurri aioli, creamy, bright and herbaceous along with two slices of melted Muenster. It's so creamy that some starts dripping out as soon as the burger is lifted up. To add even more fat (which I honestly don't think is required), there are plenty of small avocado slices, followed by a single thin slice of tomato, which I found to be too small for the burger. There's then plenty of arugula, peppery and bitter to finish. It leads to a pretty well balanced burger, all on the bun emblazoned with the Only in Kanab logo. The bun compresses well to really cradle the ingredients. We ordered this with fries, which are pretty average in size and shape. Some are a bit over fried, but most are okay and still fluffy inside. They dust it with a liberal amount of seasoning salt, so it's quite salty. Shadow of the Dragon Burger ($14) - The burger patty is the same as above, but the other ingredients are mostly different. There's a garlicky and tangy sambal giving just a hint of heat. There's crunchy fried red bell pepper bits embedded in the hot sauce and then another creamy, slightly sweet sauce spread on the buns. It's overall not very spicy at all, and very messy to eat since things spill out easily. I think both burgers are a bit too abundant with the ingredients, but I don't think either were overloaded either. Overall these were very good burgers and a surprising find for such a small town where I didn't expect to find great food at all.
