    Display of cream cheese amount
    Bob V.

Positive- the bagel was good. Negative - the amount of cream cheese was almost laughable it was so little. Nothing like the display picture. The place needs a major redo. The cabinets look like they have been outside, the paint is peeling on the walls and the staff not that friendly. Next time I'd go somewhere else.

    Egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich

I ordered an egg sandwich ahead in the app and showed up around 12:30 on Wednesday and was really impressed with the staff there! My sandwich wasn't quite ready when I got there which I was expecting because I had just ordered a few minutes prior, but the staff was very friendly and kept me updated on my order the whole time and even offered me a cup of coffee while I waited. I really appreciated the service and I was out the door in no time with a piping hot egg sandwich.

Cheesy hash brown bagel with olive pimento cream cheese

Really large space for a bagel shop, and on a Saturday morning, the lines were pretty long with limited staff. I did see what was holding it up was they use real eggs (!) to make their breakfast sandwiches. I tried the cheesy hash bagel, and because I can't find this in CA, olive pimento cream cheese. Weird combo, and wouldn't recommend it. I would rather stick with my usual savory cream cheeses like garlic herb or garden veggie.

    Garlic bagel

Came in for my bagel fix and tried the garlic one with eggs and tomatoes. They are generous with the garlic on those bagels - get ready for that garlic breath. Tasted alright tho, I'd say a 3.5/5. The service was a bit less then enthusiastic. I asked the girl working there if they had fresh squeezed orange juice, she said no we have fresh "poured" orange juice.

My mom doesn't enjoy pizza so she wanted a bagel sandwich somewhat healthier than a pizza in her mind! I got the sandwich and asked the cashier for the store code to redeem my coupon for a free drink and guess what none of the employees at the store know their STORE CODE! Long story short no free drink and they don't even offer to get one as a gesture of apology!! Bad service!

My favorite bagel in the twin cities - especially when they are hot from the oven. Just a little crispy with a great chewy center. I really enjoy the honey walnut cream cheese.

    See the white plastic contraption?

They must have been slammed today or just poorly planned. They are out of almost every bagel. Good luck guys I know it really sucks when you are short staffed. It did make me late for work to wait for bagels to be made but hopefully you all can catch up and get some normalcy. I do enjoy the plain bagels with Jalapeño cream cheese. Yummy. They are super nice about it though. Zach- Ever heard of an updated review? I'm confident that picture is from a few years ago. That was really rude of you condescending and filled with zero customer service.

Chef Pedro took our order (bonus points) and we had a lovely conversation about New Orleans. The menu here has a lot of New Orleans food intertwined. Based on where Pedro previously worked in New Orleans, he has an outstanding culinary background. I was going to order the Muffaletta, which can be served hot or cold, but they were out. When I heard why, I was impressed. In New Orleans, the gold standard of bread is Leidenheimer. Minnesota doesn't have the same bread (Trung Nam Bakery is the closest substitute). Pedro uses Leidenheimer for his Muffalettas. Pedro also makes his own olive salad. I am looking forward to trying a Muffaletta. My husband ordered the Zambon Dip and really enjoyed it. I had the Herb Brooks Focaccia. It was great. Big portions. What is really funny is I knew the North Stars as I worked at the Met Center. Fun memorabilia too. On street parking and some tables outside. What we used to call a neighborhood joint. Stop in and say hi to Pedro. Now I just wish he would make Gumbo with some okra and filé.

Seems like a really busy takeout spot. Order: the North Star deluxe. Delicious. Their take on a Reuben without the kraut. All the meats were delicious and distinctive in flavor. The creole mayo added that nice creaminess. The homemade pickles on the side added that little vinegar punch to cut thru the richness of the sandwich. Smoked salmon BLT. Huge potion of perfectly smoked salmon. The smoke and crunch of the bacon was a perfect pairing. This is an amazing creative surf and turf. Overall: This is a must try on your Minnesota food tour.

On one side is a meat market with a variety of cuts of steaks, lamb, and other meats, which all looked fresh and quite nice. They also have a variety of items such as canned goods, pasta, eggs, etc. on the shelves opposite the meat counter. The entire place is quite sunny, pleasant, and cozy. On the other side is the eat-in, take-out deli sandwiches, that are made to order. The quality of the ingredients is excellent. The bread is freshly made (crispy baguette type) and you have a choice of Roast Beef, Roast Turkey, Tuna Salad, Smoked Ham, or Corned Beef. All sandwiches are $16.50 each (including tax) and come with a choice of mayonnaise, spicy stone ground mustard, red leaf lettuce, thin sliced red onion, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, raw grated horseradish, pickled jalapeno, and roasted bell pepper. The default includes all toppings so if you don't want everything, be sure to specify what you do NOT want. Surprisingly, they do not carry any diet soda, nor do they stock any national brands (only local pop). There is a large menu on the wall, and you order at the counter and pick up the order (no table service). The food was attractively presented, and very, very good. My only gripe (besides the lack of diet pop) is that it's on the expensive side for lunch. Two sandwiches, a couple of bags of chips, and a couple of cans of pop will easily top $40, although I'd say the quality is top-notch.

I was on the street in front of Clancy's when one of their customers was mis-identified as an officer of an organization that was terrorizing Minneapolis. It had nothing to do with Clancy's! As I tried to get to my car, people yelled the most obscene and disgusting epitaphs at the couple in front of me. I was just walking down Grand Avenue. They were even spitting at this innocent individual. As a liberal who marched for civil rights and against the war in Vietnam during the 1960s and 1970s, I was horrified. Blaming Clancy's is ignorant, and an integral part of how this country is dismantling. Clancy's Meats & Fish is important to our neighborhood, and represents the kindness and empathy that has been representative of Minnesota for decades. Give them your support.
