I left a positive review before but that changed today. Not only are the hours incorrect online (says opens at 5:00 a.m.), I arrived at 5:30 a.m., the time it says they actually open... I went inside at exactly 5:30 a.m. and one of the worked rudely shooed me away. I asked him "what time do you open then since it says 5:30?" He waved his hand away at me and said "not yet". He couldn't even tell me what time they opened. I am not a confrontational person by any means nor am I rude, so there was absolutely no need to be treated like that. This is not the first time I have been rudely spoken to and treated in a condescending manner by people who work here. I normally just let it slide but today was the final straw. This is my last time going to this place. It's currently 5:42 a.m.. If they actually followed business hours and treated customers better I would be finishing up my bagel, instead of writing this review.. I've been a huge fan of Bruegger's bagels for years and years. Naturally when I was in the area I dragged my boyfriend. I was pretty much ready to go when it came to ordering, however,,,, the staff seemed to have an extreme off day. I started off with the build your own, I picked a bagel and began, when I was adding things on the custom bagel creation I was getting a lot of push back from the staff. I was not only yelling my order because they couldn't hear me, but I had to wait while the person who was making my bagel had a full blow conversation with someone else about the night before. So while I waited this man comes up to be and asked what else am I going to put on my bagel, I told him what I wanted, I thought he was going to finished the order but he was trying to ring us up. I believe this guy was the manager, so I asked him can how many toppings can I get, he said he doesn't know. So.. that was weird and it's not cut clear on the menu how many things you can get on the build your own. After this extremely awkward conversation, I was finally able to finish my order. When I asked for my bagel toasted they said they didn't want to..... I'm not sure why? So I said that's what I wanted and the person making my bagel was so rude she scuffed and finally toasted it. I'm not sure what I did to her? This experience was very poor, but the bagels are really good. So... I guess use caution? read more

I have recently discovered Bruegger's in Brea. Have liked their bagels, especially the bagels with egg and assorted meats. Unfortunately, like others have mentioned in their reviews.. the customer service from the employees is not the best. At times when i have been there, the line is sometimes to the door. The employees don't seem to care about the line and continue to take their time making the bagel orders and continue their personal conversations with their co-workers. Also, when i come in later in the morning and there is no line i often wait 5-10 minutes for any of the employees to make eye contact to take my order. That is usually because the employees are cleaning up or chit-chatting. Just find it interesting that the customer doesn't come first.. read more

The selection of bagel styles is quite vast, ranging from the traditional varieties to more specialty ones, and are all baked and boils to perfection. Along with the selection of bagels, the meal variety is definitely a plus, with a wide array of sandwiches and bagel-based meals to choose from. Only minor issue here is the restaurant's hours of operation, as they close mid-afternoon meaning that if you're looking to get a bagel past 4:00 pm you'll have to go elsewhere. read more

Ordered pickup through the Yelp app (powered by Grubhub) and was pleased that they followed my special request to swap out the cream cheese. Happy with how they fulfilled my order. My only thoughts were that the ham was too salty and I got fooled by the "cheesy hash brown bagel". It was not cheesy and I did not taste any hash brown shreds, just a normal bagel, not as dense though since it's made with potato dough. Next time I'll just stick to my everything bagel. read more

I ordered pickup on doordash and when I arrived, I noticed the bag looked a little too small for the number of items that I had ordered. I asked the staff if they got everything and they were very dismissive and replied yes. I'm glad I didn't trust it and checked before driving off, because they in fact did forget an item from my order. I went back in and told them, and they quickly made it for me. I appreciate that, but they weren't very nice about the whole thing. As for the food itself, the bagels were pretty decent, but the sandwiches I ordered had such little filling, it was disappointing. I really wish that I had a Brueggers Bagel near me. I have been wanting to try this place for quite some time and every location is a bit away from me. I saw it when I went to Coronado, but the last time that I went there, there was a major accident on the way and ran me late for what I needed to be there for, so I missed it. There is a location near work that I get to at around 2:50 and they close at 3:00 so I figure there won't be much left, and I don't really want a bagel at 3:00. So, when I was off work for the July holiday, the day after, I drove all the way to Brea to try one. I was glad that I did, but I was also not glad because again I don't have one near me! I had a sesame bagel with garden veggie cream cheese. They toasted it perfectly, they put a big heaping amount of cream cheese on it and that made me very happy. Every bite was delicious. I also ordered an iced mocha, which is pretty typical of me. It was one of the better ones that I have had. Two days later I went back already. I believe I just had a plain bagel with regular cream cheese that day. It was also delicious. The choices of bagels and cream cheeses seem endless, which makes me want one near me that much more. I have not been here since July but I hope to go to one again soon. read more

The everything bagel with cream cheese was great. We also got a cheesy hash brown bagel with egg and cheese, it basically had burnt crunchy hash brown pieces and the egg was not good. They put the thinnest slice of cheese on the bagel, so you couldn't even taste it. I'd go back but only for the cream cheese bagel. read more

We had the BEST breakfast bagels here. We had dropped off our pet for express grooming in the morning and decided to have breakfast while we waited. I got the Siracha Honey bagel with the cheese and hashbrown topping (soo good) with a breakfast sausage and egg inside. I never knew bagels could be this soft and just delicious. Bagels, in my experience, have always been slightly hard and just a tad bit too chewy and heavy. Not the case here. We'll be back the next time we're in the area in the morning and try some other items on the menu, like the fried chicken bagel. Staff were perfectly friendly and helpful. We also got a large iced pumpkin coffee which was a little much. I don't think it's the coffee's fault; I've been going overboard with the pumpkin spice life this fall and I'm getting over it. I chose Bruegger's over my go-to spot, totally out of my way to work, not only for the $2 off Baker's Dozen July 4th special but for the Red, White, & Blue bagels! I figured if I arrived by 630 am they should have plenty of these bagels available. Well, when it came for me to order, initially I was told there weren't any available. I must've looked really disappointed because they then told me they suddenly had 4 available. Cool!! Then, I requested for a bit, a cube, or even just a sliver of butter since I forgot to grab some at home. I was told it would cost a $1.00 extra for a little condiment container of butter. Seriously?!!! They always make my bagel the way I like it. It never takes a long time for them to prepare it and the place is always clean and neat.

The bagels are fresh and soft, size are decent, tend to be smaller than other bagel store offers, but the way how they wrap toasted open is weird. They wrapped them with paper, not place in a box. The cream cheese stuck to the paper. The cream cheese seems to be home made with lard, not the normal cream cheese for sure. read more

Never disappointed! Want to recognize David, Alex, Monica and the entire team for their exceptional service! Every time I visit they make me feel appreciated and at home. Love the egg and cheese bagel sandwiches (I get them with egg white) and the bagels and cream cheese. The coffee is ok, but there are a lot of free offers if you are part of the e-club so I'll get it when it's complimentary. Definitely recommend completing their customer service surveys. I get $2 off every visit which is totally worth it! I haven't ever stayed to eat in the restaurant, but have never waited longer than 10 minutes on a busy day to get through the line. I absolutely love the bagels here. I'm from Southern California, so going to bagel shops isn't my normal experience. Growing up, I was used to grocery store bagels in packages. Other than these, I've had bagels from Panera, which are good, but are in no way close to how good the bagels at Bruegger's are. I love coming in the morning and seeing the fresh bagels on the counter and being able to smell them. I've bought a bunch for my family and coworkers, and they all have loved them. My favorite is the everything bagel, which has toppings on both sides (not just one). Usually, by the time I bring them home, they're still warm. I just split them open and eat with cream cheese; no need to toast them. If you like bagels, I recommend this place. read more
