I want to start by saying- the staff here are wonderful. Polite, courteous and doing their best. Don't ever come here if you are in a hurry. It doesn't matter if you order online 20 minutes before you go there. Did that today and they hadn't pulled my order from the system yet. Place was packed with people waiting. Only 2 people working on a SUNDAY. They are chronically understaffed. I live down the street and have been giving this place a chance for 10 years. It's the same all the time. Either they can't find workers or management doesn't want to staff to meet busy weekend demand. I'm better off driving across town to Wicked Bagels - it takes less time and they have better stock. read more

Paid over $8 for the "hot pastrami sandwich." The disparity between the quite appetizing-looking item featured in the menu picture and the poor excuse for a sandwich I received - a sad, flat puck with a single layer of virtually tasteless meat, a small amount of gooey cheese-like substance, a couple pickles, a sliver or two of onion and nothing else - was astounding. To make things worse, the salt-encrusted bagel it was on was so salty as to make the sandwich almost inedible (I had to scrape off the salt and even then it was hard to swallow). But that's partly on us, because they'd run out of many of the other bagel types (we'd wanted onion or everything) and we thought we'd try one we hadn't tried before. Lesson learned. But even on an edible bagel, this sandwich would be an incredible, almost mindblowing ripoff - on the approximate level of something you might get from a railway station vending machine. For more than eight dollars, folks - that's half the cost of an entree at a decent restaurant! I would have been annoyed if I'd paid $3 for a sandwich this pitiful. Save your money and buy some mid-quality lunch meat and cheese at a supermarket. Maybe get the bagels themselves at Bruegger's - last time we got a dozen assorted bagels for a brunch at home they weren't bad. But avoid the salt-encrusted monstrosity at all costs if you value your palate. (Note: I've had good sandwiches from the Belmont branch of Bruegger's, so it might just be this branch.) read more

Talk about an underrated diamond in the rough! Scanning over a few of the reviews preceding my own, I think folks are being a bit too hard on Bruegger's here. I mean, there are certainly worse places to buy a bagel sandwich from (*cough*dunkin*cough). Anyways.. I happened by this place one Thursday morning/afternoon when I was desperate for a lunch that was at least a few legions beyond the pathetic half-baked morsels offered by the likes of Hanscom's commissary. But, I digress. Bruegger's (which one of my coworkers pronounces as "burgers" for whatever reason) answered the call in ways martial concession stands couldn't possibly fathom. They're not perfect by any means. They're just not as bad as some folks claim. First thing I should mention is, as of the time writing this review, the Lexington location is the only one I can seem to order online from. I tried the Bedford location (since this one's geographically closer to the office) only to be met with the forever-loading bagel of death on the Bruegger's app. The worst part is...they still charged me for an order that failed to go through. Looks like I'll need to haggle with my cc company to get the duplicate charge dropped. But again....I digress. Secondly, the Lexington location's parking lot is a bit odd. There are two entrance/exit ways. Unfortunately, since there is diagonal parking with the fronts pointing toward the nearby intersection, this means you need to enter the SECOND entrance way if you're coming from Hanscom like I was. Otherwise, you'll be making awkward micro-3-point turns Austin Powers style just to orient your car the proper direction for exit. Third, the food. I wanted to try at least two different bagel sandwiches before actually writing a review on this place. And I will say....I am quite pleased with the various bagel flavors here. The sides, however, have much to be desired (more on this in a bit). So far, I've tried the Double-Stack and their all new Pastrami breakfast sammich. I must confess, I have not had pastrami since I was maybe...5 or 6 years old back when I was living in Salem, NH. Man, have I been missing out all these years! The pastrami adds a much needed salty, savory flavor to the bagel and pairs brilliantly with the eggs and Swiss. Can't quite decide whether I like this or the Double-Stack with bacon better. I plan to try their ham and Swiss one next. The first side I ever tried here was the twice baked hashbrown. It was okay, but lacked the necessary seasoning. I could tell there was a hint of cheesy flavor to it, though it was hardly noticeable due to the aforementioned lack of salt. Perhaps they were going for a wicked mild flavor with this one. I don't get it though. I'd recommend going with their sea salt kettle chips in terms of sides. Fair warning though: these bags are laughably small. Looks like something I used to take with me for school lunch in the first grade. This wouldn't be so bad if they weren't charging 2 FREAKING DOLLARS for a tiny bag of chips. What a rip! I'll pack my own next go around. And there you have it. A fair, but accurate account of what the Bruegger's experience is all about. I'm giving them a much deserved 4 pastrami specials taking me back to nostalgic vibes of childhood lunch memories out of 5. read more

Today I was at the Lexington Bruegger's and was served by Ramsey (?) (his real name is Dieudonné) who welcomed me with a big smile, even though it was super busy and they were only 3 working there. He was so helpful and quick to serve everyone. We also connected as I speak French so it was great to chat briefly in that language and I could tell him a big "Merci!" I'll start by saying that Bruegger's can be good, they just rarely are. I keep trying, but today they hit a new low. They've changed this location so you no longer tell the person making your bagel how you want it, and - surprise, surprise - special instructions get lost along the way. Today I had someone clearly new making my breakfast sandwich, but even though there was an experienced employee watching and helping them, I still ended up with an uncooked, badly made sandwich that I found inedible. I think I've finally had it with Bruegger's. Edit: I just want to point out that there was no food safety concern, but the sandwich didn't seem to be heated after it was made. read more

I'm not sure why this place is so busy, but it must be the location because it's not the service. The counter help seems overstaffed for a small shop until you try to order and then you watch them all Keystone Cop into each other, with the woefully inexperienced one trying to boss the others around. Fast food retail drama at its finest, which gives you something to look at while you wait and wait. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with a meat substitution (that the counter okayed (turkey sausage instead of pork) and they decided to just omit the sausage completely. Anyway, New York Bagel in Newtonville makes much better everything and runs way more efficiently. No need to come here unless you're already in the area or miss the circus. read more

Awesome Bagels and choices offered. Went with my 23 yo daughter for breakfast... She suggested the double egg and cheese with pork sausage bagel... the bagel was delicious! I took home an Everything bagel with smoked salmon capers, red onions, cream cheese and slice of tomato. Seating is limited but don't let that stop you from giving them a try. read more

Food is good, people are nice, but it just takes too long from order to receiving food. They changed the system where you order at the register and then wait for the food, rather than order with someone who makes your food immediately. I think this is to accommodate app orders. It takes too long unfortunately which means I just don't go as much. On a busy day, it can be 5-7 minutes to wait and order and then 15-20 minutes to get the food. This used to be a go-to place for me but it just takes too long. Hopefully they can fix it. read more

The worst service ever! I ordered through GrubHub at 7:05 and got a message that the delivery would be made between 8;05 and 8:30. When the order wasn't here by 8:45, I contacted GrubHub, since no one answers the phone at Brueggers, and was told that my order was delayed - I got a message that revised delivery time was 9:51. First he said order isn't there, then printed and claim glitch in the computer no apology then I ask for a bag to put the creamer and stuff he gives a tiny bags I ask for a bigger bag he says they don't have , but I see stack of big bags when I show him he gives. This place has gone down hill since Miriam left!!! Placed an order and waited 20 minutes before they told me they didn't have half the order. This location needs better communication within the staff, the cashiers should not be allowing people to order things that are clearly out of stock. For a bagel place, you think they'd be stacked up of their most popular bagel at 9am. It's a disaster here! Received a refund but the staff was barely apologetic and didn't seem to care at all. I'm a big fan of Bruegger's good selection of bagels - you can find whole wheat which is sometimes very hard to find in a land of white flour only bagels. I wish they offered other flavors besides the standard in whole wheat but I'll take what I can find! My dining partner and I decided to split a breakfast bagel. We went with a newer sandwich that featured tomato spread, egg whites and avocado on your choice of bagel (we went with the whole wheat). The sandwich was pretty good. I liked the egg whites option. The tomato spread was a bit too strong for me - I would order the sandwich without it in the future but we enjoyed it and half was very filling. The best part about Bruegger's is their iced coffee. It's brewed and not a syrup and you can get either hazelnut or vanilla. I usually go with the hazelnut as it has a stronger flavor than the vanilla. At this location, they pour the coffee for you and then you add your own cream or milk. Lovely flavor and hit the spot. No complaints about their hazelnut! read more

Service was terrible and there is a complete lack of regulation at this location. All of the sandwiches are getting cut with the same knife. I watch the girl before me order salmon on her bagel and the guy used the same knife to cut both of our sandwiches. Upper management sits around with blank face and doesn't help workers. The girl with the two pig tails doing inventory was distracting workers causing delays on orders and giving rude looks to customers. She was also getting her unclean hands all over knives and the countertop. Don't even get me started on actual quality of food and cleaning. Their toaster is a "warmer" and does not darken the bread whatsoever. Their cutting board had a heaping pile of leftover sesame and everything bagel "crumbs" and they would continue to cut new bagels on top of the old scraps. Very gross restaurant that doesn't have much regulation. I'm so happy my plain cream cheese got spread with the same knife that cut the girls salmon bagel. Do not recommend whatsoever. They're also running a promotion for a free bagel if you leave 5 star review. So they're scamming people into bringing up their poor 2.5 rating. read more

This location in Lexington not only has several rude employees but they also discriminate. I implore people never to go to this location again unless/until their practices change. Today, my husband waited in line like everyone else to place his order. When it was his turn to order he informed the employee that we have a nut allergy (this is life threatening information since there are nuts on the menu) and the employee began yelling at my husband. He said "Are you serious?!", when my husband said yes, he said "Now I have to wash everything!" (yes, washing the knife and the cutting board is what was needed), then he said "I don't have the staff for this!". My husband then asked if there was a problem - because obviously if the allergy could not be accommodated he would need to leave. Then the employee went in the back (where he could not be seen) and returned holding the knife (presumably washed) and yelled "Are you happy now?!". Now of course we then had to make a decision about whether to actually give the bagel to our son with the allergy, because with such aggression in his voice how could we possibly know if he actually washed the knife or not? I firmly request this business to make a decision: Put a sign on the door that says something like "STOP - if you have a food allergy or other dietary restriction you are not welcome here". This way people can make an informed decision about whether it is safe to enter or a business one would want to support. OR Fire the employee who yelled at my husband, provide training to all other employees (pretty standard for establishments serving food) and set standards for how customers are to be treated. Food allergies can seem like an annoyance for people that don't live with them. Some businesses have turned us away before saying "we can't guarantee a nut free environment", that fine, at least we can make an informed decision. While it may be disappointing to be given this information, we thank businesses who are clear because no food order is worth a visit to the ER or worse. For Bruegger's in Lexington to not take that stand and verbally abuse my husband for simply asking for a clean knife?? That is disgusting and alarming. We will never be returning and I am only grateful that our food-allergic son was not present to witness this discrimination first hand for something he hates dealing with, never asked for, and certainly never wants to be a burden for. read more

I can't tell if it's that everyone in Lexington is a pushy jerk or just those getting bagels this morning. HOWEVER, the staff here was handling my brief visit with courtesy and aplomb. It's a mixed bag on Sunday's. The lines my be longer than you'd prefer, but that's simply because the bagels are AMAZING! Crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and flavorful. The gals (and guy) taking orders and crafting the delicious bagels connected with the customers and made our bagels "wicked fast". (My mother said.) 2. Amazing bagels, of course! This morning I was in the Lexington store. I ordered the the Skinny Bacon Avacado and Tomato Egg white sandwich (2 egg whites). On the sign advertising the sandwich the prices were listed. The price of the sandwich with 2 egg whites was under $6.00 ($5.69-ish). When I went to pay, I was charged $6.99 plus tax. When I mentioned this to the cashier, she was very rude, "Oh ya, price changed, they haven't changed the sign yet". No "I'm sorry, the price changed and they haven't changed the sign yet", basically "too bad". How hard is it to tape a piece of paper over the price to reflect the new price? While being charged an additional $1.00+ is certainly something I can live with, refusal to honor advertised pricing and straight up rude treatment is something I cannot live with. Since I report to the office most days, I find that patronizing establishments that are suffering due to the pandemic is something I can do and enjoy doing. Bruegger's Lexington no more. read more

My closest (and therefore default) weekend bagel spot. My boyfriend usually is the one to go so I haven't gotten the chance to actually go inside before. Went yesterday AM and was happy to see it wasn't packed. The staff is super friendly and seem to be enjoying themselves which made the fact that it took a little while to get in and out a bit better. You are taking your chances with this Bruegger's location. Ordering a sandwich here is like playing whisper down the lane with imbeciles. You order. The person behind the counter makes something different. Today the woman in front of me ordered two sandwiches that had an egg on each of them. She got one sandwich with two eggs. When the customer discovered the error, the Bruegger's employee told her that she needed to give the sandwich with two eggs BACK so that she could take one egg off - or she would charge her for two eggs! Get out! There were no sesame bagels at noon today and I did not get the cream cheese I ordered. Terrible customer service. Obviously little training and management. This is my first review of this location, but after giving them several chances, I am done with their game. read more

So to begin I ordered a Smokey brisket and pastrami EGG sandwhich, on top of the fact that the man making my sandwhich toasted the bagel 2 times ( which I did not ask for ) the sandwhich came with NO EGG. ( maybe spend less time toasting it and more time remember what goes on a sandwhich). THEN what happens next.......I had like 150 sesame seeds in the paper that he wrapped the sandwich in ( I know what your all thinking, not a big deal ) but wait I didn't even have a sesame seed bagel. Where to begin? Staff is not rude by any measure however they do not seem trained or managed. Both times I have come customers have walked out after ordering as the wait is far too long. I gave you guys a 5 star review previously until my fiancé and I came by on Saturday (Feb 25, 2017 at around 1pm). There were two employees at the restaurant, one male and one female. The male one refused to greet us and stared rudely at my fiancé when she politely tried to get his attention after he spent a couple minutes ignoring us. Angry look on his face throughout and rude in all his interactions, he even snatched the credit card from my hand when I was paying. I feel bad for the female employee whose hips he was staring at most of the time while we were in the restaurant eating. He went out of his way to stand right behind her when she was at the register checking something and just stared down at her butt. I was so disgusted. He needs to be let go.
