My first time coming here the line was out the door and the wait over an hour. I couldn't wait so I left. But I noted the time being 11am on a Saturday and I immediately knew I would not probably ever brunch here. In fact I came at 0800 on this Saturday morning. It was perfect timing and the rush hadn't started yet. So waking up too early and making that random decision to get brunch paid off. Not only did we get a lovely table, but our server was friendly and checked back often. Those 2 things always win me over. The coffee here is yummy and they keep it coming. It's from a local spot. I ordered the breakfast burrito minus bacon since I'm a vegetarian with my side being the salad. Why salad? Because that damn breakfast burrito was perfect and it had every delicious item rolled up inside a perfectly grilled tortilla. The eggs were fluffy, the little potato pillows were so crisp outside and soft in the middle (aka tator tots) and the cheese and avocado mash added the depth that my breakfast burrito needed. I will be back for this breakfast burrito again and again. I also want to say my side salad was lovely. Fresh and fancy. My dining partner had the biscuits and gravy. It was described to me as the perfect breakfast. The biscuits were not dry but flavor packed. The sausage gravy was hearty but not too thick. We were both delighted and vowed to return soon. Brunch place downtown Spokane, Lots of vegan and gluten free options I like to see more of this! The parking sucks but it's downtown so whatever, we had to do meter parking. I got the vegan benedict, the vegan cheese tasted funny and the english muffin on the bottom was very soggy, I wouldn't get again. The other plate I got were the vegan tacos, those were good l really liked the sweet potatoes which the benedict plate didn't come with those were normal potatoes, also I forgot to mention some of my normal potatoes were undercooked I could tell because there were still hard. I don't know what the heck was that green stuff on my taco plate but it tasted like week old guacamole, not sure whats going on there but the tofu scramble tacos were yummy. Husband and I visited here for the first time earlier this week. We have wanted to go so many times, but they are always so busy! Glad we finally made it in! The atmosphere is so neat! I love all the punny pictures they have, it's clean, and just a fun decorative environment! Even the coffee is served in the cutest cups with cute little cork coasters. The service was amazing. Our server was so kind, accommodating, welcoming, and just all around on top of it. We loved her! We started with drip coffee - as soon as she set it down, I could tell from the smell that it was the BEST coffee in town, Roast House. Soooo good!! Love that they serve Roast House coffee! Next, I got the nutty Irish rum and my husband got a Bloody Mary. My spiked coffee drink was delicious! My husband didn't love his Bloody Mary though. He's a bit of a Bloody Mary snob and this one just didn't hit the spot for him. The flavor wasn't great and the piece of bacon it was topped with was so crispy it was basically dust. For my meal I got the Shrimp and Grits and loved it. It was so flavorful, had chunks of onion and peppers which I loved! I would say it was a bit greasy and I wish it would have had more shrimp. I think total there were only 4 or 5 pieces of shrimp. The protein was mostly the sausage. My husband got the chicken fried steak. He didn't love it, but it wasn't his least favorite. He said the breading on the steak was pretty good, but he didn't love the steak itself. It was pretty tough. The gravy had a good flavor as well, but he didn't care for the potatoes it was served with. He would have preferred hashbrowns. One of my other favorite things were the to-go boxes! I loved that the flaps were perforated! Usually when I eat leftovers I cut off the flaps anyway so I can eat my Leftovers out of the box without the obstruction, but with these I can just tear them off AND they are easier to fold when putting your food in them! The flavors are top notch, the staff is friendly and attentive, and they have the ultimate mimosa menu that rotates seasonally (now they just need a pitcher option, hint hint). Absolutely delicious. I had the chicken and biscuit, which is like biscuits and gravy but with fried chicken as well. The gravy s a chorizo gravy so it has a great flavor to it. The waitress kept my coffee cup filled, and even though the place was packed, there wasn't a whole lot of noise bouncing off the wall. You could have a normal conversation. I can confidently say this is my first favorite restaurant in Spokane (after living here for only three weeks). It feels small, but when it fills up with couples, friends, and families, you feel like you're part of a Spokane community of happy locals and tourists. My friend had a blueberry lemon drop mimosa and I had a rhubarb strawberry jam mimosa - delicious. Not overly sweet - a perfect complement to brunch. This was our second visit, the last one had been more than a year earlier. The first visit everything was great. Service, food, etc. this time the service was good but the food took a nosedive. I ordered the turkey pesto croissant with the country potato assortment. The sandwich was good but the potatoes were just north of overdone. Other dishes we've enjoyed are the verde hash (we subbed beef instead of pork), brunch burger, and vegan breakfast tacos. The thing that impresses us each time we return is the level of depth and flavor that they manage to pack into every dish. What ever you decide to order, make sure you try the potato medley - they're crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and wonderfully tasty throughout. This place makes me lose all control, in a good way... I brought my 10 y/o daughter here for a breakfast date, and we had an absolute firecracker of a good time. We split the bacon sticky bun with cream cheese frosting, and then she had the shrimp & grits, while I had the tamale waffle/beef dish, with pickled jalapeños. There aren't words in the English language to actually describe what everything tasted like... the texture on my waffle made it feel like the most elevated, scrumptious fried tamale experience, and there was just enough heat from the jalapeños to cut through all that fatty, unctuous goodness on the plate. The shrimp & grits had this assertive black pepper thing happening which was FANTASTIC to meld the briny, supple shrimp and textured grits. But the real winner was the sticky bun. With bacon. And cream cheese. Just put your notice in at work, because your new job will be travelling the earth, telling people about this pastry. It took me long enough to try this place, but I imagine they were perfecting their technique in preparation for my visit because the food and drinks were stellar. The owner is from San Diego and you can see that Baja CA influence throughout the menu. My husband and I opted for the chilaquiles and a tamale waffle. I've been on the road for a bit now and didn't have time to cook, so obviously that means I gotta eat out! I was craving some brunch and saw some good reviews of this restaurant. This seems like a popular spot which was a good sign. I was helped out immediately and the service was great. I got the shrimp and grits, it came with andouille sausage, peppers and creamy grits. The grits were definitely creamy and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The andouille sausage added a bit of spice to the dish but not too spicy. It took a little bit to get my husband's bloody mary but I think our server had to actually make it as it looked like they didn't have an employee dedicated to getting the drinks made. She gave us about 15-20 minutes to look at the menu before she came back to take our order. An extremely friendly server. We ordered our food. We ordered the breakfast Burritos to split and she already had it split when she served it. It was a good burrito but not the best we've had. We wish we got some salsa and more cheese. They had hot sauces to put of it. The chicken fried steak was amazing! My daughter's blueberry french toast was also so yummy. We were definitely pleased with this place. Also, just to let you know just in case you don't read the menu but with every check a 16% gratuity is added to all orders. That money is giving and then divided with all the other employees. I'm assuming host, bussers & cooks in addition to the server. If you are unhappy with the service, you need to let then know. This is my new pick for the best brunch in Spokane! It's got a convenient location: across from downtown. (my previous spot felt like you were leaving Spokane) Everything on the menu looks fresh and inventive. The cocktail list: the same. The service is great (coffee never ran dry, even for our big table!), the space is clean and modern. I was waffling between the verde hash and the brisket hash. But, I have brisket trust issues. Most brisket is too damn dry. It's more like "damp jerky". Waitstaff often aim to please (have you ever heard anyone describe anything as being "fishy", ever?) so I couldn't trust the answer I was going to get by asking "is the brisket moist or dry". Surely I would get "moist" back. So, I went with a more ambiguous version: "is the brisket more on the lean side or the marbled side". Yes, I know brisket isn't technically "marbled". But if I said "does it have fat on it still", I, again, would probably get a people-pleaser answer. The waitress didn't know and needed to ask the kitchen. We had high hopes for this place. Things really didn't work out. The best part of the experience was how quickly our food arrived. The food itself was sub par. The meat on the Verdi hash was overly salted, but the entire dish was overpowered by cumin. The breakfast burrito was small, had a scant amount of bacon, and was an overall poor value. The coffee was tasty, but our cups arrived to the table half full, not because we asked for cream. And then our waitress didn't take any care to keep our cups full. I'm giving 2 stars because I truly appreciate the Living Wage concept being upheld by Bruncheonette.
