The food looked much better than it tasted. It was disappointing. Tasted bland, lacked basic seasoning. Service was good. It's a cute place. One thing that bothered me is service fee of 16% automatically added because owner said that his employees deserve earning living wage? Since when a living wage / salary is the responsibility of patrons visiting your place? You must be a greedy owner to not pay your employees so called living wage. Won't return. This policy only hurts your employees.

It's so shady to me how the owner writes "Since Bruncheonette relies on great teamwork from all staff members and that every employee is worthy of a "living wage", Bruncheonette has chosen to add a 16% Service Charge to your bill. 100% of this fee is then distributed amongst all of our hardworking employees who served you today." YOU should be paying them a "living wage"??? Making it seem like it's insane that we want workers to get the payment they deserve. It doesn't add up insanely much when you share items or come alone, but it can easily get large if you come with a big group. The food is also extremely mediocre, nothing had flavor so I was just eating different textures of mush lol. Excellent presentation though! Nice workers too so it sucks for them that their boss created a system that gets them less tips.

Had the shrimp and grits... delicious bouncy perfectly cooked large portion of toothsome grits with thin slices of andouille and plenty of red peppers and onions. Ordered a yuzu - sake-lemon mimosa which was delicious and properly tart! Service was excellent! Friendly and direct. It was an early morning on a Monday so it was very quiet and pleasant , big I imagine this place is crazy on the weekends!

Tried the Smoked Brisket Hash at Bruncheonette and now I totally get why this place is such a Spokane favorite. The brisket was super tender and juicy, especially the fatty pieces that basically melted in my mouth. The smoked tomato sauce added so much flavor and tied everything together really well. The potatoes were crispy on the outside, soft inside, and the scrambled eggs on top when mixed with everything made everything taste even better. Portion size was generous, I got too full from this meal. 16% service charge. They also have a bunch of cocktails and mocktails options if you have a mood for it. Service was friendly too. Definitely one of the brunch spots I'd come back to whenever I'm in Spokane again.

Veggie Breakfast Burrito (sans tortilla and cheese)

Really solid breakfast/brunch with a large menu, which was easily able to accommodate many dietary restrictions! Shared the Verde Hash and Vegetarian Breakfast Burrito (which we had as a bowl to make it gluten free). The hash was amazing, had such good flavors, and a generous portion of meat and the potato medley. The burrito flavors were pretty good, but wish it came with more tots since we didn't have the tortilla to go with it. It was definitely enough (maybe a little too much) for two people to share. Would absolutely have wanted to try more items! The host and waitress were both super friendly and our waitress was the perfect amount of checking in (at the right times), asking correct questions, and noticing our needs. She was so excellent!!

First off let me say, I went on a Saturday morning (8:15 am) and there was plenty of free parking available on a city lot next door. It was not super busy, but then again the whole city must not wake up until 10am The waitress who sat me was very pleasant with a (beautiful smile I might add), brought me some coffee very quickly (and kept if filled. which was good, the atmosphere was also very nice and clean. All of the food looked great but I chose the chicken and waffles which I am glad I did. The chicken was nice and juicy with the perfect coating and paired excellent with the cinnamon waffles and maple syrup, usually the chicken is dry with too much batter. It was just the right portion. I will define eat here again in the future. 5 out of 5

Super good brunch spot in Spokane. We went right at 8am and were the first ones there on a Saturday morning but the place filled up FAST + rightly fully so. The food was great, and the menu had tons of options from savory to sweet to more lunch items + lots of fun drinks. We got the veggie scramble and the loaded scramble with the country medley potato's- 10/10. The servers were so friendly, and great with the rush. I recommend for a breakfast spot in Spokane!

Service: Our waitress was great. Friendly, quick, laughed at my jokes, and handled everything smoothly. Zero complaints. If this review were based on her alone, we'd be planning a second date. Food: I had the chicken fried steak. Flavor was solid, eggs were cooked perfectly over medium, and the fried potato medley was legit. The breading, however, did not want to commit and slid off the steak like it had somewhere else to be. My wife ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was cooked perfectly... moist, flavorful, no notes. The waffle had an interesting flavor profile. It tasted fine to me, but the cinnamon came in hot. Less "hint of cinnamon," more "main character energy." Vibe: Nice spot overall. My wife, who operates at near-elite cleanliness standards, thought it could be cleaner. I thought it was fine. Jury's out. Price (aka "The Relationship Red Flag"): Menu prices were reasonable... honestly, they could've even been slightly higher and I wouldn't have cared. But here's the issue. There's a mandatory 16% service charge. Yes, it is technically disclosed... buried at the very bottom of the menu, tacked onto the end of a sentence about Washington's 9% sales tax. Bolded, sure... but not explained, not obvious, and not something most people would catch before paying. So now we're at: 9% tax 16% service charge tip (because most people don't notice in time) That's over 25% extra, and suddenly brunch feels like a pop quiz in math I didn't study for. This takes tipping out of the customer's hands and turns it into forced gratuity. Good service, bad service, amazing food, disappointing food... the charge is coming either way. That just doesn't sit right with me. I'm a good tipper. I'm also a fan of transparency. This trend isn't it, and it's the kind of thing that makes people rethink eating out altogether. Final Verdict: Good service. Good food. Nice space. But the hidden-feeling surcharge killed the vibe. So Brunchenette... we had some good times. But the trust is gone. We are broken up at this point. It's not me. It's definitely you. *To be fair, the 2 star rating in this review reflects what I feel (even though it is disclosed vaguely) the deceptive service fee. This does not reflect the food, service, or atmosphere of the restaurant.

I had a great experience at Bruncheonette! I came in on a weekday with 4 others, and got seated with no issue. I've heard about Bruncheonette for a while now, and was looking forward to trying a new breakfast spot while I'm still in Spokane! I saw previous reviews had pretty hit or miss experiences with the service, but I thought my waitress today was great! She was kind, attentive, and definitely seemed like she enjoyed her job and interacting with customers. Food came out fairly quickly -- I got the smoked brisket hash, as well as an apple cider. The apple cider was warm and cozy, which was much needed on a chilly day! I thought the hash was great too, I didn't think I would be full but I but the quantity was perfect. It was flavorful, and not too dry (I feel like brisket often comes out pretty dry). Honestly, there were so many other things on the menu that I wanted to try as well, I would definitely come back!

If I could give 6 stars, Bruncheonette would definitely receive them. Tremendous breakfast and service was phenomenal. We came on Monday, the last day we were in Spokane and what a treat for all of us. Our daughter and I started with a special Mimosa, hers being Mango and mine Peach. So good. My wife had the Vegan Breakfast Tacos with Tater Tots and she loved it. Our daughter and I each had the Chicken Fried Steak...and it ranks with the best. So tender, and the gravy was extremely flavorful. I had fries and our daughter had the tots as the accompanying item. The eggs were also a perfect over easy. Chyrsten was also extremely friendly and engaging. She knew the menu quite well, and assisted us in ordering. I wish Bruncheonette was in the Portland area as we would be regulars. Thank you for a great visit.

Came here on a work trip and had a very nice brunch with many choices of mimosas. The environment of the restaurant was very nice, pretty lowkey and quiet place located in cute downtown Spokane. We had a relatively big group and the service was phenomenal. The food was very well made for the most part - I got the brisket hash scramble and loved the flavors, but some of my other coworkers didn't enjoy the breakfast burrito as much.

This place is usually experiencing long wait times - today we were advised a 45 minute wait but we're seated in 15. Came here for brunch to catch up with friends - I always love this place because the mimosas are tasty, the food is always great, and the atmosphere is pretty soothing. It's not too loud and I'm able to have conversations with my table. I used to get the "Snowball" mimosa but they discontinued it from their selection. Now I try a new mimosa every time I come here. The prickly pear is a must try if you want a different mimosa than you're used to. For food I had chilaquiles and also shared pancakes (ate them before I could take a picture). This is one of my favorite spots. Highly recommend if you want a "Spokane" spot that you can't find anywhere else.

Breakfast plus a Mexican twist... I'm all in. I got the Carnitas Hash and I made no mistake by doing so. The pork was perfectly cooked and juicy. The mix of potatoes and yams was just delicious. My boyfriend got the Tamale Waffle and enjoyed the creative twist. Without a doubt we'll back and excited to try more items off the menu. read more

Bruncheonette has absolutely surpassed my expectations. The staff is polite, responsive and very knowledgeable. I decided to go for the chicken and waffles. The chicken was crisp and seasoned to perfection, carrying a delectably slight peppered after taste. The chicken was cooked flawlessly, the buttery juices seeped out with every bite. The waffles were fluffy and moist. The flavor swirled with cinnamon and brown sugar and to top it off the bourbon butter melting and infusing into them made them irresistible. The portions were plenty, with three large pieces of both the chicken and waffles. The meal and the experience was very enjoyable. If you are looking for a very well kept, clean and relaxing environment, I would highly recommend Bruncheonette. read more

My mother and I are from Pittsburgh and were excited to try a local brunch spot. We were very impressed with the quick and friendly service, not to mention the delicious food and drinks. My mom got the chilaquiles and I was torn between the brisket hash and chicken and waffles. My server recommended the brisket, which they smoke in house, and I'm glad she did! We unfortunately missed out on the bacon sticky bun. Must be popular since we only came an hour after they opened! I would highly recommend this spot for brunch. With their versatile menu, there's something for everyone! read more

This spot has been so many different restaurants over the years...I hope these 2 chefs succeed! They have it looking very cute and it was nice place to eat. The menu is pretty limited and definitely heavier on the breakfast side. If you're going for lunch...there was a burger, maybe 2 sandwiches, a salad...not much else. Many of the items were "whole wheat" which is not my thing so the french toast, waffles etc weren't as good for me as other places but we still enjoyed our food and our visit. It's always nice when the menu is "something different"! I had the chicken and waffles and the chicken was GOOD, tender, juicy, crispy skin! My husband had the chilaquiles and they were good with s smoky flavor. We saw people eating several other items that looked good. On the down side..we stood waiting to be seated for way too long when there were only 6 tables that were taken...and the tables that were vacant had yet to be cleaned off. I think the chefs were serving food because they only had one wait staff. We were finally seated but when the beverages came...NO ICE?! So...ask for ice. As a side note...bathrooms don't work well and its super dark in that area...kinda spooky and not good for bathrooms to work poorly at a restaurant. However...I'll go back and give it another shot as the food was unique and good! read more

Fun atmosphere, friendly service and really interesting food choices/combinations! Everything we ordered was delicious! Meh...that's all I can say really. I've had the pleasure of eating at A Couple of Chefs food truck before and it was amazing!! This place is meh. The food is still good but the service was so below standard I don't see us rushing back. I would have maybe understood if they were busy but they weren't. We had to go get our own high chair and it doesn't fit a car seat so heads up to you parents out there. The waitress checked on us once in a passing nonchalant way. We try to support local businesses and I understand that the minimum wage increases are hurting small businesses but if you automatically tack on 16% gratuity I expect a better experience from your staff. And it wasn't just our waitress. Every person I saw there looked like they had just eaten a lemon! I'd rather go up the street and wait 30 minutes for great food and friendly service then to visit here again. read more

The atmosphere is great and the staff are super nice. The Bacon is legit along with their strawberry jam, maple syrup and ketchup. The waffle was cold and too much cinnamon and Brown sugar for my liking. I am not a fan of the auto tipping policy with pricing that seem to be on par with other establishments that don't have a manditory 16% added on top regardless of how the service is. read more

This place is really good! The space seems a little stale. Kind of blackboard/chalk hipster stuff that is fairly common. The chairs themselves are not super comfy. But the food is good and the staff was kind. Prices a tads high but it's yummy! I would recommend it. read more

We do a big Christmas extravaganza experience instead of presents every year and coming from Seattle this restaurant was a pleasant surprise for Spokane. So delicious and the menu was really unique. I ordered the bacon pancakes for the table - solid decision and then the chicken and waffles for myself - also really good. My dad got the special which was some kind of mexican inspired omlette - I can't remember the specifics but there were eggs- good potatoes - good meat -good cilantro - not a fan - everything else about this place is worth the price. read more

It is hard for me to get excited about breakfast food. Even when it is wonderful it really isn't something I usually rave about. This was worth raving about. Everything was great. I would highly recomend eating here. Great portions, slightly more expensive then Denny's but so much better. The only thing that didn't wow me was the Bloody Mary. OK flavor (weak) but I have had a rash of drinks in Spokane lately that are garnished with old fruits or vegetables. I am being picky but it is unapitizing when the cellery stick is brown and wilted. read more

Good food, I tried the chicken and waffles. It was pretty tasty. Seating was quick and service was good. A little pricey for breakfast foods but overall it was a good experience. This is not the usual breakfast grill that will give you a mountain of hashbrowns and a giant omelette that feeds 3. This is a good place to try if you want to fancy up your brunch menu and try something new. read more

This place is fantastic and fairly new to Spokane. I ordered this for a lunch meeting and they have great variety between breakfast, lunch, and dinner at all times. We ordered the Cuban, Caesar Salad, Steak and eggs, and drunk Rueben. Everyone was very impressed and loved how big the portions are for the price. Highly recommend it! Oh and they're actual restaurant is super cute and definitely a place you can go to work and grab some food in the meantime! read more

I had the best breakfast I think I have ever had there! My sister and I shared the biscuits and gravy and the chicken and waffles. Everything had so much flavor and it was VERY DELICIOUS. The Bruncheonette is nearly perfect! The decor and ambiance is really nice - updated and light and modern. And the food is fantastic! Unfortunately, the service was mixed, or I would have rated 5 stars. I had the corned beef hash and it was unlike any I'd ever had before - big tender chucks of meat, potatoes, onions, and even apples! It had a lot of unique flavors and was cooked just right. A couple other folks in my party had the tamale waffle and chicken fried steak and raved how good theirs were too. The roast house coffee was delicious too, but that's partly why I say the service is mixed - I never got a second cup! And we waited awhile after finishing our meal and had to flag our server down to get our bill. Other than that, they were friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back! read more

Delicious! Had the cinnamon waffle and the verde hash. Both were full of flavor. Service was also great. Get there before 9:30am on the weekend or there will be a wait more than 30 minutes. Overall really enjoyed my dining experience! read more

Cute place. Excellent fried chicken sandwich. Decent cinnamon sugar waffle, however, it seemed like the waffle was cooked in advance because it tasted slightly stale to me. Wouldn't get it again but would definitely return to try one of the other appealing items on the menu. read more

This is a really good breakfast/lunch place. It's all made from scratch and it tastes amazing. I got the Verde hash and I didn't regret getting that whatsoever. The chorizo gravy is a must. This place needs a lot of recognition for how good it is. read more

This is the 4th time I've been here, and the same things always disappoint: the service is lousy and the food is never hot enough. The dishes are unique and my hopes are always high, but when the food is tepid it's a bummer. It has always taken several minutes before our server comes and does the initial greeting, and today our server never came back after she dropped our food. My husband had to go find her for the check. Had she come back and checked on the quality of the food, we would have told her the brisket hash was room temperature and the mayonnaise flavor on the fried chicken sandwich wasn't good. Not sure if it was sitting too long or what. At the end when she finally asked how the food was we told her, she apologized and left our check. A good restaurant would have at least comp'd the drinks for the inconvenience. This place could be awesome-it has all the cool concoctions of something you'd find in Portland, but fails to deliver again and again. We won't be back. read more

Went to check out all the "hype" about this place last weekend. I ordered off the menu the French Toast which was burnt on the outside with what seemed to have way too much butter. It was then gooie inside. My friend ordered the Loaded Scramble which was a glob of cheese and other veggies; super greasy. Potatoes were ok. The Bloody Mary was overly seasoned with chipotle, I was told it was spicy not smokey. The bacon in it was covered in white, cold grease. Service was good, friendly, but this place is overly loud. You can't have a decent conversation. I won't return sadly. read more

I don't know how you can take simple ingredients of scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, roasted red peppers, grilled onions, green onions along with a mixed variety of roasted potatoes & make it taste SO AMAZING!! Bruncheonette is the first brick and mortar restaurant for Couple of Chefs. Couple of Chefs started in 2011 as a full service catering company. In 2012, a gourmet food truck that parks around Spokane was opened. In the Fall of 2016, Couple of Chefs became restauranteurs with the opening of Bruncheonette! Bruncheonette is a "brunch restaurant" that is serving a menu that is prepared with fresh, wholesome, as scratch made as possible and quality ingredients for you to enjoy. All our items are made to order and made with love. Stop in at 1011 W Broadway Ave for breakfast and lunch with us!

This all happened before our server greeted us. We ordered coffee. We waited. And waited. I scanned the restaurant for our server - or any server- to ask about our drinks and place our food order. No one else approached the table. Still no coffee. It had been 30 minutes. We decided to leave. The host realized we were leaving. He offered to find our server, pay for our meal, seat us somewhere else. He practically chased us out of the restaurant. I appreciated the sentiment but it was too little, too late and my teenage daughter was super uncomfortable with his approach. I was excited to eat at House of Brunch. I won't be back.

But the highlight was their baked goods, 100% gluten free at a very reasonable price for the portion and quality. The staff is very amiable and the hostess made the recommendation that I try the Caprese Benedict, which had fried tomatoes in place of bread, fresh basil and blood orange balsamic drizzle. They offer the option of one or two Benedict, which is nice if you aren't super hungry. They also give the option to smother the hashbrowns and cheese, which I obviously opted into. The menu is absolutely massive though, so if Benedict's or even breakfast aren't your jam, you should be able to find something that suits your fancy. Also worth noting that they offer a very wide variety of gourmet flavors of house-made juices (7 or 8) for mimosas, like honeydew melon mint which I tried as a soda with soda water since I was driving.

I saw they had ube crepes, but when we went they didn't have it and onto had ube croffles, so I decided to try that. We also wanted to try the chicken melt crepe. I really enjoyed the croffle, it had a delicious chocolate flavor but wish it had more ube flavor as it was very faint. The chicken melt crepe was okay, but not my favorite. I feel the lemon didn't match, and it was inconsistently seasoned. Some parts were extremely salty, while others were not salted at all. It was nice to try but I'd try something else next time. Overall I would return again, but I'd try a different crepe and hoping they have ube crepes next time I visit.

The sandwich was good and looks like a lot of meat, but there was actually more bread than meat. The flavors were good but I wish there was more filling in the sandwich. The clam chowder was also good, it had good flavor and I enjoyed it with the sandwich. Overall I would come back again but I would come at a less busy time.

I wouldn't return to this place. The food was okay, but the service was terrible. It seems like the restaurant's popularity has made them complacent about customer care. When we arrived, there were at least three empty tables, but the staff told us they were too overwhelmed and put us on a waitlist, asking us to return in 20 minutes. The staff appeared stressed, and the service felt rushed and impersonal. They didn't take our dietary preferences seriously and seemed annoyed when we asked clarifying questions about the menu, making us feel like we were inconveniencing them. To top it off, the bill included a mandatory 16% service fee. It's no surprise the staff seemed indifferent--after all, their tip was guaranteed regardless of the experience they provided. read more

How in the world does this place get any good reviews!!?? The food was overpriced. Okay I get it. Some wannabe hipster place thinks they're cooler than they are and charge you a premium. But at least make food taste good! The potato's I had tasted like they pulled them out of the ground, two weeks ago, then warmed them up. Hey, Bruncheonette, google "spices", or "flavor". Then they charge you a 16% tip on top of their laughable prices. Then they have the balls to say "extra" tips are appreciated. Great place for a hearty brunch! I love the Tamale Waffle and have to say I get it every time. The meat is tender, the eggs are perfectly cooked and they always accommodate my request for extra pickled house jalapenos! I tried the bacon bloody mary on my bday. Something was not quite right with the bacon, otherwise this would have been a 5 star rating. Just a personal preference, as I saw others enjoying the same. Love the atmosphere. I recently ate breakfast here but was disappointed by the service. Never once did the server check how my meal was nor refilled my $4 cup of 6 ounces of coffee. And then a 16% service fee is automatically tacked onto the total and taxed bringing the bill to $25+ for a simple scramble and coffee. For me not good customer service especially with the place only 1/4 filled. Too many other good breakfast places in town where attentive serving staff give a damn about their customers. read more
