This is a thin cardboard pie for $25 that lacks toppings and sauce. The service is poor. I've never met any locals that like this place.

We stopped at Brunelleschi's Dome Pizza on the recommendation of an Aspen local. She suggesed it would be fun for the kids because they get to make their own pizza. She was right about that; the kids enjoyed making their own pizza. The crust was thinner than what I normally like on my pizza but the pizza was tasty (I ordered a mushroom and olive pizza). What we did not enjoy was the service. When we ordered the pizzas and a salad for our party the waiter said he'd deliver everything at the same time (we hadn't asked; he just volunteered the information). The kids' pizza made their pizza and the waiter took it to bake. The waiter then brought back the kids' pizza and my friend's salad but not my pizza. The kids and my friend began eating their meals. I called the waiter over to make sure my pizza was coming. He assured me that it was. With the kids and my friend 3/4 of the way through their meals, my pizza still had not arrived. I called the waiter over and had the strangest conversation. I asked him what the status was on the pizza. He said it was coming. I mentioned that he had said that it would come out with the other meals. He said that's right. So I asked what the status was since the others were about done. He said it's still baking. I asked him what the delay was and he repeated that it was still baking. I asked him why it was taking so long. That's when he finally admitted that he had put in the order incorrectly and they had to make a new pizza. Now I don't mind mistakes; I understand that mistakes happen and I would have been fine with that. But this waiter was not going to admit that he had made a mistake until I pressed him. I should have never had to do that. When everyone else's food had arrived he should have been up front and said that he made a mistake and they were making a new pizza for me. My pizza finally arrived as the rest of the group was finishing up their meals. This is not the best way to treat customers and we will not return the next time we are in Aspen. read more

Staff was friendly and food was great. Our server, Claire, gave us great menu recommendations. We ordered pea soup, margarita pizza, pesto pizza, beer salad, caprese salad, and Cesar salad and it came very quickly. The pizza is delicious since it's thin crust as well. I really can't think of anything bad to say about this place. It's a bar atmosphere with exceptional food, I've had a couple Italian pasta dishes that were as good as I could make it home, and the pizza is really good too! The staff is friendly and they do a great job. I've eaten at a lot of places in Aspen, but this is one that I keep coming back to. read more

This place has the potential to be so good. The pizza is consistently tasty, but much of the rest of the experience disappoints. The service is spotty, there are usually small dogs running around near (or on) the bar, and the place is not clean (witness the faux snow spray painted on the front window to cover what appears to be an untidy storage area). What a disappointment. The service is terrible and food is soooo overpiced. We have been to this restaurant multiple times... All three times- we had poor service, you are better off going downstairs to Cache Cache or Campo and sitting at the bar. Their food is so far superior for the same price. The ambiance is a equivilant to a low scale pizza joint but with Ritz Carlton prices. Its loud- Our waiter automatically added a 20% gratuity even though we were a party of 3 and did not disclose this to us. We just paid it because we couldn't get out of there fast enough... sadly he didn't deserve it because we had to get up from our table 3 times to get more water, another round of drinks and our check. We also witnessed our server, yelling a the 'busboy'... overall, a major disappointment. There are too many other good restaurants that I would rather support in Town. I do NOT recommend!! read more

Truly awful food. Veal Parm had clearly been microwaved, as had the chicken dish my wife ordered. Both were inedible. I mean, literally head scratchingly bad-- it was almost inconceivable that they'd serve food like that. We were still cracking jokes 3 days later. And it's not like it was cheap, that veal parm travesty was $27 and made Sbarro look like Del Posto. Per my 9 year old - "phenomenal! I ate so fast that I couldn't breathe, as I just kept stuffing my face!" We had a confirmed 6:15 reservation for two adults, a child and an infan, which I had mad three weeks prior. We arrived 3 minutes late not including the 4minute wait to actually reach the hostess to check in. When I gave her my name, she said "we were wondering where you were." I asked if she gave our table away and she said yes, you were late. When I asked how long it would be to get another table, she said about 10 min. After 10 minutes, I asked again, and she said she wasn't sure. I began to lose patience at this point and said I have never been refused a confirmed reservation upon arriving 7 minutes late. She then said, " And do you think that is going to get you a table?" When my husband heard this, he said let's go and we left. I would never return to this restaurant with such rude people in their employ. It was Aspen at its worst. Fortunately, we found a restaurant willing to take us, and the children were happy. In case the owner is reading this, the hostess is a taller blonde woman. Please terminate her. She does not represent you well. Upon telling this story to an Aspen local, I discovered that this hostess, whose name is Emily, is married to the owner. Makes it even worse! read more

I arrived before the dinner rush expecting good service and food. Chicken Piccata was delivered soggy (there is NO excuse for that!!) and Tiramisu was flavorless, oversweet and badly needed a molecule of rum or liqueur. Waiter wasn't Mr. Warmth but did an okay job in terms of timeliness and attentiveness. Prices are high ($21 for the chicken, an astounding $12 for the Tiramisu), portions are just adequate, and quality is meh. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Aspen. I'm grateful that the last time we were here the waitress asked if we were ordering the gluten-free pizza due to a gluten allergy. We said we were, so I am assuming they took a little extra precaution. In the past, we've been glutened by their pizza. It is so good though! The gluten free pasta is really good too. This time no one got sick after eating here, so hopefully they are doing a better job of managing cross contamination. read more

We ended up here by accident and SOOOOO glad we did. We were headed to another local restaurant and decided it was a little too stuffy for what we were looking for. We headed in late, but they were very welcoming. We sat in the dining area, which is small, but not cramped, with a wall of windows overlooking the street for entertainment. There was only one other couple there when we arrived and we were soon the only ones, not counting the football fans at the bar, who seemed to be locals and had just the right level of enthusiasm without being loud or disruptive. Our waiter Anthony suggested a great cocktail with a liquer that has local ties and even brought over a sample of it to see if I liked it before ordering (I did). I went with his recommendation and he returned heavy headed to tell me that they didn't have the proper ingredients to make it. I asked if the bartender could make something else with it and he returned with an amazing concoction that he had improvised. We shared an Especial pizza which was outstanding. The crust was super thin, just the right amount of crisp and the toppings were a terrific combination of flavors, despite my hesitation at reading them on the menu. We had Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding for dessert and it was also fantastic. By far though - the best part of this restaurant is the staff. Anthony was terrific, he made us feel like we were regulars here despite living 2,000 miles away. He sat with us at our prompting and told us stories of his travels and of local lore the way only a born and bred Aspenite could. He introduced us to the owner - Gil, who was just as welcoming. Look I hate to write a bad review but any kind of feedback should help a business so in that spirit here I go. We have eaten here several times, always wanting to give the place another try. It seems so popular with the locals and I'm wondering if we just keep ordering the wrong menu items. The pastas we have tried have been rather pedestrian, something that we feel could easily be made better at home. Unfortunately and sorry to say it's not that good. For example no fresh basil on top or grated parmesan cheese, things that would elevate and could brighten the dish. I don't think it's home made pasta either. Why bother, just grab some Barilla. A penne with peas contained hardly any peas. Large portion but we didn't bother taking any to go. The bolognese was uninspired and dead, it didn't have that zing. Tasted like it was pre made and heated up and the meat perhaps frozen. The pizza dough is okay, perhaps a mistake trying the meat pizzas, mostly the meat was almost certainly frozen. Better off with the non meat pizzas. Frankly the pizza at Mezzaluna is way better. Weird beet salad, hot beets (I expected them to be cold or room temp) with a slice of orange on top. Orange why ? Look the bar area is nice and they have a good screen for watching the games, honestly I have to say the service is a little surly but that does not bother me much. The pasta at La Hostaria kills this. Want them to win but I think they need to kick it up a notch. read more

Once a great place now Such weak cooking or recipes. You can't comprehend how tasteless their Items were. Very disappointed. Had to send the cooked spinach back 3 times and then there was still no olive oil or garlic. Really. Even Chipolte Cooks can heat up stuff. Our Caesar salad was lifeless. 6 of us ate there last night - the waiter was not a great waiter, my wife's food didn't arrive until over 1/2 way through our now colder meals. Forget special gluten, dairy or wheat request - its in there. We are Aspen regulars and we will now suggest other spots. Success kills. read more

Great spot for some down home, unpretensious Italian food. Perfect for families and groups. Our group shared calamari, 2 pizzas, Caesar salad, and lasagna. Everything was good quality and fresh. I have been to Bruno's several times now, and it never disappoints. The pizza and calzones are great, lots of variety and very original. Good desserts too. Hands down, some of the BEST service we've ever had!!!!!! We have a ton of food allergies and were in town from Boulder. The owner herself made sure that our needs were met - from gluten free options to letting us bring our own dairy free cheese for our pizzas. I literally tipped my wine glass back to finish my (delicious Barbosa) wine, when the bartender across the way caught sight and had a refill at my table seconds later. Even though the place was PACKED and we weren't sitting at the bar. Seamless, teamwork oriented service with excellent food. And not a ton of Aspen pretension. read more

The food was fine. About the same quality that I've gotten from an Olive Garden or similar mid-range Italian restaurant, except a pizza is around $20 and the pasta is around $25. The entire town of Aspen is overpriced, so I think if you expect $15-level of quality, you'll be quite pleased. On a Friday night, it was very crowded and very loud. There is no real waiting area, and so the front entrance area just gets packed. The acoustics are not great,, so we shouted over our meal. The crowds died down around 8:30. read more

Are you kidding me? This place is awesome. I've been eating here since they opened their doors over five years ago. The food is fresh, the Paisano Pizza is truly outstanding (which just so happens to be Billy Gibbons all-time favorite pizza) , and the service is great. My kids also absolutely love making their own pizzas. If you're in Aspen, this place is not to be missed. Oh, and don't forget to try the Mac 'n Cheese! read more
