Are you kidding me? This place is awesome. I've been eating here since they opened their doors over five years ago. The food is fresh, the Paisano Pizza is truly outstanding (which just so happens to be Billy Gibbons all-time favorite pizza) , and the service is great. Wonderful place to bring the kids! We came here off season in June and were impressed with their food and service. Their pizza varieties were wonderful, and our kids (3&5) loved getting to wear their paper chefs hats and make their own pizza at the table. The food was fine. About the same quality that I've gotten from an Olive Garden or similar mid-range Italian restaurant, except a pizza is around $20 and the pasta is around $25. The entire town of Aspen is overpriced, so I think if you expect $15-level of quality, you'll be quite pleased. On a Friday night, it was very crowded and very loud. There is no real waiting area, and so the front entrance area just gets packed. The acoustics are not great,, so we shouted over our meal. The crowds died down around 8:30. read more

We had an awful yet somewhat hilarious experience at Brunelleschi's. I ordered the carbonara. When it was brought to me, it came with sausage, which I did not ask for. It turns out that the carbonara sent to me was incorrectly sent to me and was meant for another table. I put my (used) fork in the dish and almost started to eat when the head waitress, who happened to be training a new waitress, came to my table and asked if I had started eating. I said no (which was true), despite having put my used fork in the dish. Nevertheless, she took the dish away from me and sent it to a poor man a few tables over, who promptly began to eat the dish with MY USED FORK! It would have been hilarious had it not been a serious health code violation - once a dish reaches a table, even if it has not been eaten by a customer, it MUST be thrown away if it is incorrect and should NEVER be served to another table! I have to wonder if that man got food poisoning, because someone in my party got food poisoning from another dish entirely (a salad with salmon). Avoid at all costs! read more

BEWARE!!! - Sent our 4 kids there for dinner, and the waitress, Guadaloup, felt it appropriate to include a 25% tip on the final bill. She then tried to tell them that was standard policy. They insisted they would not pay that tip, and she reluctantly presented a new bill sans tip. When the parents, who were just around the corner, arrived Guadaloup also claimed to be the manager, and then tried to pretend like it didn't happen. I suspect by her actions, this was not the first time she has used this ploy. Food was OK, but the practice of taking advantage of young adults will keep me from EVER frequenting this establishment again. read more

The pizza here looks more like giant potato chip than a pizza. A Walmart pizza taste way better than this. The pizza was cold when it came out to. The pizza will only serve up to 2 and everyone will still be hungry when you leave and the Mac and cheese taste like candle wax. read more

A group event was held on September 29 with about 40 people. After being seated, service was inconsistent. If you were at the table where the owner was located, the staff accomodated drinks, pizza, etc. Otherwise, service was overlooked with cold pizza, drink orders ignored, appetizers being limited to be placed on table. After the head table had completed their service for the night, staff then checked to see if anything was needed. There was to be 6 kinds of pizza served to each table and ours continued to received the same, cold each time. Reservations had been made for the dinner. In fact, two nights prior, another dinner had occured from our company so they were used to seeing us. The restaurant may be great for individuals but I would not recommend for a group. read more

My kids beg we visit Brunelleschi's every time we are in Aspen...I have been bringing them here since they were toddlers, loving making pizzas and pretzels. We love the pizza and pasta as well and the atmosphere-- fun, a bit loud, but fun for family and easy for parents who do not have to try and keep kids silent. The staff is beyond friendly, very responsive and just all around a great experience. read more

My wife, our two kids, and her friend with her two kids, went here last night and it's easily the worst meal they've ever had in Aspen. It started with my wife seeing a cockroach, yes a COCKROACH IN ASPEN IN MARCH, climbing up a wall. My wife flagged down a bus boy who said he'd be right back as the cockroach climbs off the wall and heads toward the table. My wife had to kill the cockroach to stop him. Then the food.... her friend's lasagna was a joke and, while my wife liked the taste of the gluten-free risotto, she is now all rashed up (which only gluten causes for her). The service was awful, with the waitress taking a half hour to remember that my wife asked for a glass of wine. At this point, they gave up and asked for the check that included, for 2 adults and 4 kids, an automatic gratuity! Are you kidding me? They complained to the manager, who acknowledged the place has a freaking cockroach problem, and gave them a 20% discount as a pathetic token (though the gratuity stayed on). Pretty awful for a meal that cost $100 for JUST my wife and kids (that's one glass of wine, two make-your-own pizzas, and the risotto.... $100). We visit Aspen on a regular basis (at least 6 weekends per year) and have never had an experience like this. I would stay far, far away from this place if you have kids, are gluten-free, or have an aversion to cockroaches as dining companions. read more

We came with a huge youth hockey group (30ish). Our team manager coordinated with them in advance. They were highly organized to receive our large party. The kids had a price fixe menu for $15 which was great (several entree choices + drink + ice cream sandwich) and right-priced for Aspen. Adults had full reign of the menu. I had the lasagna and it was wonderful. Right amount of cheese, pasta and meat, fresh sliced parm on top. Huge serving and I was full. Two Ranger IPAs ($5 apiece). The wait staff hustled and was extremely efficient and pleasant, and they had a second youth hockey team following our large group. I tipped generously. read more

This place is inside the courtyard of a building in downtown Aspen, on the second floor. We all had salads and pizzas and everything was delicious. This not Domino's pizza; they will give you a small (individual) thin crusted pizza like you would get in Italy, but with American variations in the ingredients. I had the "Paisano" pizza with chorizo and jalapenos and it was delicious. My greek salad was pretty good too. At 15 dollars for a personal pizza and 9 dollars for salads, this palce had some of the best values that we encountered while dining in Aspen. The personal pizza is the equivalent to 2 or 3 slices of a large American pizza, so depending on your appetite you may be able to share. I have a pretty decent appetite and I could only eat half the pizza after my greek salad. There was a large party with children next door, and the children were having a blast making their own small pizzas at the table. I understand that the staff would bake the pizzas for them in the oven afterwards. Depending on the kid, this could be a recipe for disaster, but everyone sitting next to us seemed to be having a great time and taking the pizza making very seriously. They don't take reservations and the service was a bit brash, but all in all I would go back because the food was affordable and delicious. read more

This is a tough review, the food was amazing! The buttermilk crust, super thin and feather-like, great texture. You can really taste the sauce and toppings. The cheese was melty and had a bite to it. The salad are amazing with crispy fresh greens. The reason I'm giving it two stars is because of the service. We finished our food, sat around for 30 minutes finishing our bottle of wine, waiting for the check...that never came. This being our first time there, thought maybe we have to pay up front. No, the bartender was rude and told us our waitress had to cash us out. We said we've been waiting and waiting. She didn't seem to care. She gave us the wrong check, then when we brought it her attention, we got an eye roll, how mature for being in your 40's. After going thru three people and two checks later, we got our check and paid. No, thank you, no sorry, nothing, like we didn't matter. Went here for a nightcap after a fun evening here in Aspen. Unfortunately probably the worst service I have ever received. We were treated like garbage because we showed up close to closing time. I was a little wary to eat here because of some of the reviews but we were pleasantly surprised! We got a BBQ chicken pizza (they serve thin crust pizza FYI) and an Especial calzone - the pizza was good (tasted like a pizza from California Pizza Kitchen, which I love) and the calzone was large and tasty! We even got their homemade ice cream sandwich for dessert, which you definitely need to share, it is big! The cookies are frozen with the ice cream so it was a little hard to bite into at first. My fiancé and I came to Aspen for a quick trip and on our first day, we wanted to grab dinner at a reasonably priced restaurant (since this is Aspen). We walked by Brunelleschi during our exploration and decided to stop in. It's the off season so we were seated right away. The bar area is pretty loud with families with kids but we were offered to sit in the dining area which was a lot quieter. The service was great: fast and professional. We ordered a caesar salad and the BBQ chicken pizza which came out very fast. (They were having a special pricing on pizza that day so, score.) The caesar salad was good, standard. The pizza was pretty good for being a thin crust, we don't usually eat thin crust pizzas. The chicken could've used some light seasoning but not a game changer. Overall, we had a solid dining experience. Good food and good service. read more

Six of us were waiting for our table at a bar table when the hostess asked us to move so another couple could eat at our spot. There was one stool open at the bar for 6 of us. That took nerve! After 2 wonderful experiences eating here (once with just my wife, another time was with my wife and my 2 young children), I once again took my family and my in-laws here last week expecting the same great food/service that we've had in the past. Our most recent visit was less than pleasant... our service was awful, from a surly (even by Aspen standards) waitress who was completely inattentive and borderline rude. The food, with the exception of one meal (out of 6) was awful. 2 of us had veal parm and weren't sure there was any meat inside the breading. The final straw, and what precipitated my writing this review, was that they charged for refills of kids drinks...... I've never seen this done anywhere... ever. The horrible food was horribly overpriced and then that.... There are WAY too many good/great restaurants in this price range in Aspen to suffer through this. read more

We got a seat in the bar near the windows which were open giving it an indoor/outdoor vibe overlooking the plaza which was awesome. We ordered a pasta and a pizza on special, both were really good. I used to be a fairly common customer at Bruno's but I don't know if I can say the same after a particularly bad experience. When I placed an order for pick up I made it extremely specific that I needed super light cheese because I am lactose intolerant. I also got a brownie for my friend. Not only did I not get the brownie I got a pizza full of cheese and every meat you can imagine. Also, they gave me a pasta dish I did not order and charged me for that to. When I tried to scrape off what I could the pizza still had cheese on it causing me to puke. When I tried to get my money back they denied my request for a refund. I got charged for a food item I didn't even get (the brownie) and got sick because they brutally messed up my order. The hostess said I could maybe get a gift card and that they would call me but I haven't heard anything from them. BE WARE. Not only is the service bad but they won't refund u for food u didn't get. I'm not going to be giving much more of my business to such an undeserving establishment. read more

Best restaurant in Aspen because food, atmosphere, staff and price were all excellent. My wife and I tried other bars and restaurants, but most were overpriced and/or the food is like most mountain food...sub-par. Brunelleschi's has great thin crust pizza with unique toppings, good seafood dishes, excellent sanwiches and comforting desserts. Yes, we tried it all. We ate there two nights in a row because it was that good. You get a great value for the price, and best of all the owners great their guests and take time to talk with you. They second night we had the owners pick our meal and they didn't disappoint. We are still talking about how much we loved going to this restaurant. Definitely check it out if only for an app when you're in Aspen. read more

I really would give 2.5 stars. I have been here tons of times with kids because it's easy and they have fun with the make your own pizza. I also do quite enjoy their light and thin crust pizza myself. But everything else is honestly borderline disgusting. Pasta, salads, sandwiches... Awful. Truly. Incredibly overpriced. Do not EVER go to this restaurant. They are rude, the food is horrible and the owner Emily is beyond horrible. They are mean because they think they have a corner on the Aspen market but with economic downturn and many Aspen restaurant closing, they should learn how to treat customers if they want repeats. Stopped for lunch this past Friday afternoon. From the time we arrived to the time we left, we had to listen to a waiter loudly train a new employee in the main dining room. This was not only annoying but very rude and disruptive. We were not interested in hearing non-stop chatter about how to set a table, where to put the water glasses, what to do during downtime, etc... Our intended looks of disapproval went unnoticed not only by our own waiter, but also by the employee doing the training. It was obvious that other diners were annoyed too. We overheard this employee state that he has been working there for four years...so he should have known better than to disrupt paying customers. Because of this unpleasant experience our $56 lunch was ruined. We will never eat at Brunelleschi's again. read more
