Welp, I really loved the service and atmosphere, but nothing I ordered would I order again and I didn't finish my entree. It's got an old school vibe, with families who seemed to be regulars enjoying dinner together. I love that they bring out the cuts of fish and steak they offer before you order, as well as a dessert tray. Bread is served with olive oil over butter, and I'm a butter fan. They do have a tasty dish of olives, ham, and cheese which is lovely to nibble on while you wait.the Caesar salad dressing tasted like nothing. The gnocchi my friend ordered was fine enough. But my seafood linguini was so bland and tasted as if it hadn't been salted at all. I did salt it myself, but the sauce itself just didn't have anything to it. Arrived in NY today, flying into JFK from Fort Lauderdale. Being from the north (CT) my whole life and only in Florida the last two years, was eager to find an authentic NY Italian spot near the hotel. Decided on Bruno's after seeing great Yelp reviews and some of the food pictures looking really good. Planned on sitting at the bar but wasn't sure if they even had a bar; wasn't mentioned anywhere on Yelp. Called and was told that they did so headed out. Nice little exterior location along a main road, with exclusive parking in the back; a good sign. Parked and headed in and it was mostly empty, though I arrived at around 4:45p. The "bar" was literally 3 seats along the front window and not much of the ambiance I was expecting; not a huge deal. The vibe was kind of dreary. I was really looking forward to trying their pizza as it looked enticing on Yelp; no pizza anywhere on the menu. In fact, a lot of things shown on the Yelp pictures were not on the menu. Complimentary bread and olives/mortadella/cheese came out. Had to ask for butter and no plate for olive oil; Bread was not fresh and average. Went with the veal parmigiana as again the Yelp photos from others looked great; huge thick portion with the bone attached like a frying pan. Mine cam out thin as paper and drenched in sauce. The pasta (penne) was also drenched in sauce. Sauce was flavorful but way too much for the ratio of veal; disappointing. Sat for 20 minutes after my main course plates were taken away waiting for someone to ask if I wanted dessert or espresso; never happened as the bartender watched videos on his phone and answered personal calls. Highly disappointed for a highly rated NY Italian spot. Left to go get coffee and dessert somewhere else. read more

So here's the T! Honestly, I was so excited about going to this place after a long international flight. The hotel even recommended it. It was 8:10p and they close at 10p. I called to make sure they had tables available. We just needed to grab an Uber and head that way. The guy who answered the phone said they stop seating at 8:30p and not to bother coming. I mentioned that their site says they close at 10p and he said yup. We do..... Just wow. I managed an Italian restaurant for years. This is unacceptable. I hop the owners know who they have representing them. As much as I travel to the area for business, will not attempt to go here again. I don't care how good the food looked. The people who represent the restaurant are equally important for the overall experience. So sad. It really looked and sounded amazing. read more

So adorable, friendly and delicious. You can make a reservation if you want as well which is nice. Parking: they have complimentary valet for the restaurant. Service: absolutely outstanding, friendly and so accommodating. They will customize any dish for you. Beverages: full bar, but their sangria is to die for, absolutely perfect. Their limoncello was the greatest cherry on the cake. Food: all the food here is eye popping and incredible. They bring out their fish and meat platters to showcase what they have for the night and how they can prepare it. I would rate Bruno's four and a half stars. My fiancée and I dined here for dinner. They had indoor and outdoor seating available. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the pleasant spring weather. Our waiter was very insightful and made some good recommendations. We started with capellini and stuffed artichoke. Both were great. I preferred the capellini but you can't go wrong with either. For my main course, I had the monkfish served in a creamy sauce that reminded me of hollandaise sauce. It savory, buttery, and almost addictive. It was served with some roasted potatoes and a heaping of sautéed Chinese broccoli. The portion was monstrous. My fiancée had the lamb chops which were delicious too! read more

Ok how do i say this, the other restaurant that i wanted to go to was closed for vacation, so we went to Bruno's. Couldn't be happier. The staff is accommodating and friendly. But more important the food is great. My wife and i split a ceasar salad, the dressing was the best i've ever had. We then split a Rigatoni Bolognese again one of the best i've ever had. Topped it off with a espresso and called it a night. A plus parking was easy as they have they're own dedicated lot. read more

Went to this restaurant to pick up some Dinner. After all this years living in Howard Beach... I've only drove by but now I had to stop for some Lobster Rolls and fríes. We also had margaritas. One of the best restaurants I've been to in New York. Bruno's has a great atmosphere, attentive staff, and most importantly, excellent food. When you are seated, the table is given a warm loaf of sliced bread and a complimentary cold antipasti. As an appetizer, I went with the fried calamari/shrimp, which was not chewy and cooked perfectly. For the main course, I had the lobster lunch special. I ordered it broiled and it was one of the best lobster dishes I have ever had. The mix of flavors was outstanding. The prices are also great considering the amount of food you get and the quality. The desserts also looked delicious but I did not have any room after the appetizer and main course. I highly recommend Bruno's and will definitely be a return customer. read more

What a wonderful surprise! Our flight from JFK was cancelled so we had an unplanned overnight stay near the airport on a Sunday night. Searching around for restaurants and picked Bruno's based on previous recommendations and were so glad we did!! The food was amazing - appetizer specials of zucchini blossoms and octopus carpaccio were large and octopus in particular was most tender I've ever eaten. Entrees included homemade pasta in "Sunday sauce" which turned out to be four different cuts of meat simmered in a red sauce, and seafood rigatoni which included lobster, shrimp and clams, all cooked to perfection. We took the waiters recommendation and ordered a bottle of the house Cabernet Sauvignon, which cost a very reasonable $35. Finished off our meal with tiramisu, coffee, and grappa. Delicious! After getting burned by an incredibly overpriced and underwhelming dinner at a trendy restaurant in tribeca on Friday night, we were so pleased to have a great meal served by friendly professional waitstaff for a reasonable price. The restaurant isn't bad, but it isn't good either. I can't fully judge this place because my order was a New York strip which in my opinion lacked flavor but my girlfriend liked their Alfredo pasta. The service isn't bad everyone is respectable but the ambience is a little confusing. When we came in they took us to the back which almost felt like they were taking us to eat in the bathroom but don't be alarmed the path they lead us through brought us to a bigger dinning area .
