After breakfast- it was either watch a movie (she'd take a nap) or let's get our nails done. We had breakfast a few blocks away from Sparkle and there is a nail salon at the shopping center where we ate. When we walked into that salon- we told staff we would like an acrylics (for bestie) and a gel pedi (for me). We couldn't really hear what the guy said at that salon- but- it sounded like he said they didn't have someone to do acrylics. We called Sparkle Pro and asked if they did walk ins (Yes!) and were asked what services we needed. We were told to, Come on Down! We were seated quickly. The salon isn't the bougiest of them. So, if you're not here for interior aesthetics- you're good. Plenty of spa chairs (and it looked like my remote for the chair was busted). Which it wasn't- thank goodness! Bc i really look forward to the kneading function! I typically like a gel mani & pedi serviced simultaneously. But, really needed the gel pedi more than anything. Especially with spring- I need a light, cute color. Two gel company palettes to choose from. As my feet were barely soaking- the pedi tech was prepping for the cuticle removal. I thought she was going to ignore trimming my toe nails. I typically trim them a few days prior to a nail salon visit. I'm a stickler for shorter toe nails due to wearing my work shoes and walking 11 miles/ daily. So, I inquired the tech of she was going to trim them. And a simple trim, she did. :/ This is when she handed me a pedi menu. I didn't need all the bells and whistles- since I didn't want to be the hold up- if we had to pick up bestie's motorcycle for her 2 hour ride home. I picked the basic gel pedicure service- $38. When the tech noticed one of my big toes have an ingrown nail, she handled it swiftly and carefully. And this is such a game changer, for me. And I'm sure any client. I've been to a few salons and the pedi tech doesn't attempt to remove it. And although I don't inquire about it- I don't tip as much. This tech did the same on my other foot. She even went above and beyond to give my legs a lengthy massage. More of my shins- :/ than calves... but, noted in my memory bank. We didn't really chat. Which I don't mind. I walk in and she has me sit in this uncomfortable chair and put my feet in one of those foot bath things with massagers in them you can buy on Amazon (I have one at my house) and then has me prop my feet up on this wobbly wooden black table while she paints them. Her UV light doesn't work so she uses a handheld one that is one single little UV light so she has to hold it over each individual toe one at a time to cure them. And she painted my toes and then had me soak and did a foot scrub? I feel like this could have messed up the polish she just did. It was hot in there. Oh and she was in her pajamas and there were random men doing construction in her living room while I was there. And her own painted nails looked awful so I didn't think mine would look any better if I let her try. And I don't know whether the tools she used on me were even sanitized or not. It was all so weird and I was so uncomfortable that I left as soon as I could. Do not go here unless you want an unprofessional and uncomfortable experience in someone's rundown apartment. 0/10.

I only went to this place because I heard good reviews as well as it's the closest to my home. So I walked in having high hopes, and I even brought up a reference picture. After checking in for my appointment for a gel-x fill, I went to go see my nail tech and I went to say hello but she didn't say hello back. Whatever. So then I showed her my reference photo and I want all white. Now I understand if I couldn't see the flowers if it's the same white nail color, which is why she suggested a different color that I didn't even ask. Not even like a white purple/blue color just so we can see the flowers better. Also, I know I should've spoken up more, which I had three times that I want to be a classic white French tip with daisies. But she insisted on using a shade of purple that I didn't even ask for. But not only that, but I feel like she couldn't speak English fluently because half of the time she was speaking to me in full Vietnamese, which I had a hard time communicating. I honestly felt a bit peer pressure to have a nail design that I didn't exactly ask for and that's what I'm very disappointed in. When my nails were done, she then prompted me to go wash my hands, but never told me where it's at or didn't even point where the sink was so I had to ask another employee to find the sink. Now I don't mind the nails design itself if it was done better, even though I have spent $65 on it and honestly during the whole appointment I kind of felt uncomfortable even though I did speak up, but just not enough then I should have, but it also doesn't look like the picture I wanted it. I'm pretty disappointed with my appointment and I will not be coming back unless I have another nail tech who I'm pretty sure will do my nails more nicely design wise. This is why communication is very important during any nail appointment and I thought I have communicated my needs, but I guess it wasn't enough to the point where I was peer pressured to do a nail design that I don't even want.

I ended up going with gel x and they turned out BEAUTIFULLY!!! The salon is very clean & calming. I also got my eyebrows waxed and I have never had someone put so much effort into it.
