I discovered them circa 2019 when I had a stainless-steel liner installed in my chimney for worry-free hardwood heating with my Buck Stove insert. I had called and left a message which was promptly returned by Laura with a very reasonable quote for split, seasoned and DELIVERED almond firewood, and a delivery date within the week. Laura called the day before delivery to confirm the time, and Mark and his assistant arrived right on schedule at 0'Dark:30 to dump my cord of wood as close to my wood storage as possible. This made it SO easy for me to stack it by transferring it with just a few steps, no wheelbarrow needed. Mark's skills at backing into a tight space with close attention to the eaves of the house and overhead wires was absolutely amazing! And the perfectly cut wood in his truck was stacked so tightly and precisely in rows that there was clearly no shortage to my order. This has been my experience every single year since then. I was compelled to share this to neutralize any unfounded negative posts against this honest and reliable family business. Provided a great written quote and then he poorly managed his crew, the tree climber quit, it took at least 3 times as long as it should have, and he asked us for money several times throughout. We actually gave him a few hundred dollars extra for the first of 2 trees he cut because the quote was so good and he brought us firewood in exchange, trying to sympathize some with his crew issues though they had nothing to do with us. But then on top of the extra we did give him, he overcharged my husband by $500 from his initial quote. I realized this after I paid him for second tree and the final numbers didn't match. When I pointed this out and asked for my money back he was upset and gave me $100 of the $500 back and said he'd have to pay me $100 a month for 4 months as he lost too much money on this job and needed it to pay his crew. Needless to say when I contacted him 2 months later for my first 2 months of payments he refused saying "whatever it was that you paid was fair payment for the work done". Coming by asking for prepayments outside of business hours, accidentally took one of my tools but didn't return it...could go on about the smaller things, but the not paying me back after telling me he would is an unacceptable business practice. I also noticed the other 3 negative reviews on yelp were hidden, making this company's rating look like a 5 when in fact it's not.

The owner (or person who works there ) was drunk, smelled like alcohol (mind you it was around noon mid week) and did not seem to care one bit on giving much attention to his plants(not to mention costumers). His radio was full on volume when I tried to ask something. The 1 star it less for this person's lack of service manners. It is for the very neglected, poor way they kept their plants on. Most plants on display seem to be super dry, shrunk and sad. It looks like maybe this place used to be a beautiful, when someone cared for it. Probably supporting native plants at one point, but now is it so run down, more like a dumpster (with some nice chicken to break the monogamy of yellow/brown dying plants). Too bad, as this place was highly recommended by the California native plant society, they sure need to update the records.
