2 meat & 2 side plate with banana pudding.

Believe the hype. Bryan Furman BBQ was some of the best i've had. I've had some of the southern heavy hitters like Franklin's, Terry Blacks, Fox Bros, and Rodney Scott's...the ribs I had at Furman's could hang with them. The real unsung hero was the collard greens though. I could eat them everyday. If you're in Portland and looking for some damn good barbecue...go get in line & enjoy Bryan Furman's BBQ.

Great space with plenty of seating, a simple menu, good food, and friendly service. I came here for the first time for Portland Restaurant Week and was pleasantly surprised. We tried the ribs, collards, macaroni and cheese, corn bread, and banana pudding. I would order everything again. In fact, I'm not ready to try anything else on their menu yet because I need round two of what I already had.

Sign outside where you line up. Bryan was walking back from his smokers and was kind and said hello.

2 meat and 2 side serving. Serving seemed generous for the price. I'd say this was enough for me and leftovers for me. I don't share my BBQ. Food is great albeit the brisket was a little dry. The ribs and beans were the shining stars for this and the cornbread was not dry and was a little sweet. The service though...I was second person in line about 11:15 am for a noon opening. They let all the resy orders in ahead of us which may not seem like a big deal but the first guy walked out with 4 large bags of food. When I was finally let in there was still 4 of the 6 resy orders waiting. I finally had my order taken but the guy seemed off that now people wanted to order. It was 27 minutes past opening. It was another 12 before I got my food to go. It seemed there was little hustle for the price we are paying. Will I be back...TBD. The food is good but I want that line up outside open at noon to not be interrupted by online orders.

It's was soooo good! I wish I would have tried the beans but they sold out . But the collard greens were on point !

We went on their second Friday of being open (2/6/26). We arrived around 12:10 and the line was already around the corner. It didn't seem like we were too far back, but it took us a little over an hour to get in. The one and only Gregory Gourdet was handling the line and allowing around 6-8 people in at a time. There's only one line, so its movement depends on whether people ahead of you are staying to eat or getting food to-go. You have to go downstairs into the bar to order (I believe there's an elevator, but we didn't verify). You seat yourself if you're staying. We got our order to-go and were out within about 10 minutes of ordering. The menu changes weekly - definitely the meats, but it looks like even the sides might change too (brisket beans were an option this week, rather than baked beans). Check their Instagram for the current offerings. All of the meats, the coleslaw, the beans, and the collard greens are gluten free. We tried the pulled pork and the chicken, and all four sides. Everything was fantastic. We definitely want to try to go back to try the other meats before the pop up is over! I do wish there was a separate line for to-go orders, but it's probably because of capacity limits that there isn't.

After reading the great reviews, I'd wanted to get over there, and I'm glad I finally did. The ribs were perfect, the pulled pork was as good as I've ever had. When the brisket is solid but the least exciting bite, you've got a great platter. The mac and cheese side is excellent. I loved the slaw, though I'd skip it next time due to more onion than I'm cool with. Sauces are okay, but would love a spicy option. Honestly, none of the meat begged for extra sauce, I just love sauce. Seating was limited and the place is pretty small, so probably hit and miss during peak hours. Loved the food. Will return.

I personally liked the original bbq and tamarind one. The two meat tray comes with two sides, and we tried the 1.) sweet potatoes and collard greens and 2.) the spicy baked mac and cheese. Note that the sweet potato dish is different from your classic Southern sweet potato side -- it is more mild, less 'candied.' Not bad, just different if you're expecting more classic flavours. The mac and cheese was so good. The cashier was very kind. A handful of large tables outside. A few inside and some high top chairs/tables. Note that their restroom is located outside (port a potty) but it was clean.

IMO. This BBQ is Kansas City style, so the sauce is a bit sweeter. We got the brisket, the chicken wings, and sides. We couldn't decide if on the sauce for the wings, so we got all 3 on the side. The Alabama white sauce was A+ The brisket was perfectly tender. It had great flavor and marbling. The wings are full wings with the drummette attached. That's the way to do it! They are smoked and then fried. They got the crisp just right. Let's talk about sides! We got the collard greens, coleslaw, and baked beans. They were all FANTASTIC! The coleslaw is a vinegar coleslaw, which I love. It wasn't the sweet mayonnaise style that most people don't enjoy. It was so good! The collard greens were perfectly flavored and tender! I couldn't have done better myself. The beans were sweet but also savory. Not super sweet, which makes me happy. Very well balanced. The server was super friendly and nice. She explained everything to us and made sure we were happy. They have a bar with various beers. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Very casual but perfect for BBQ. Highly recommend you try this spot!

Why are they serving food on a plastic tray with a piece of waxed paper? Why am I paying $70 for two people to eat lunch, and they can't even give us plates? Also- I know that rolls of non-absorbent paper on the table is quaint, but it's tacky and wastes more paper than an actual NAPKIN- the kind offered to adults at dine-in restaurants. C'mon - do better. Staff was friendly & was willing to turn down the music. I don't see how this place could possibly be wheelchair accessible.

Pictured is a "half pound of brisket" for $23.00 and 60%-70% of it is just inedible fat! What was edible (3.4 ounces), was honestly disgusting and looks nothing like the photos they show online, as you can see for yourself. $11.00 for a cup of sour smelling banana pudding that was immediately tossed in the trash. $4.00 for a "chicken breast" that was literally 2 bites... This is the second and last time we will ever order from them again. I have never been more disappointed in an order of food in my entire life. We spent over $70 for the brisket as shown, a small salad with 2 bites of chicken, soggy coleslaw and sour banana pudding. Beyond unacceptable! Never again and truly hope this saves someone else from the disappointment that Reverend's BBQ truly is. Complete waste of money! Edit: It has been about 45 minutes since I ate what little of the brisket that was actually meat and not just fat, and I am extremely nauseous. Not worth the money, disappointment or naseau. Just looking at the photo alone, I wonder why I even tried eating it. Absolutely disgusting.

They have big windows that open up and a bar area with hooks to put your things. Service: We sat at the bar area since we didn't have a reservation right in front of the employee sink. I will say that as an observational person, I noticed a lot of female employees washing their hands, but very few male employees washing their hands. I was glad to have a female server. She followed up often with drinks, which was fantastic. Food: We got the Kingston Fix slushy tiki drinks and those were good. Nice and refreshing for the hot day. Sweet and sour fried chicken - the small was plenty for us, since we had been snacking all day. They were lightly breaded, very crispy, and not heavily drenched in sauce, but still very flavorful. White curry with brisket burnt ends - light curry taste and the pieces of brisket made this dish so robust. The brisket was a bit crunchy at the tips, but it fell apart in your mouth and wasn't chewy or tough. Overall wonderful experience. My dudes - please wash your hands. (We were there ~45 minutes and one dude with glasses washed his hands twice. I didn't see any other dude wash, but maybe there's another sink elsewhere.)
