An a-okay lounge if you're staying at the hotel or just nearby. There is a small u-shaped bar and plenty of chairs around the lounge. There is pool table here too. The night we went they were setting up for karaoke later in the night. Service was fast and friendly. Prices were as expected for NYC. I. Hate. Giving. One. Stars. I think this is my first or maybe second time ever doing so. Bought VIP tickets to this lounge for New Years Eve for $108 after reading a Thrillest article (Top 10 places for New York locals to be on NYE for 2018). As everyone does, I cross checked this place on Yelp before purchasing tickets. The reviews weren't great but some of the photos looked nice and my friend was bringing her camera to take photos for the night. The location being far from Time Square was also quite attractive to me so we went ahead and purchased VIP tickets which included their open bar. Fast forward to the night of NYE. My girlfriend and I walked in and actually thought we walked into an 8 year old child's birthday party. We literally asked if we were on the wrong floor. The decor looked like it was from the dollar store. White plastic covered cafeteria tables, etc. Biggest issues: Heinously understaffed. For 200+ guests there was 1 bar with 2 extremely tired bartenders. Poor things. I strongly believe the lounge oversold tickets because when we arrived at 10pm (event started @ 9pm) they were out of VIP wrist bands and were scrambling to find others that were not for general admission. This resulted in a very long line of very drunk individuals, yelling and frustration for both the staff and guests. Second, they could have avoided the overcrowding by either limiting the # of tickets sold or setting up alternate stations for booze aside from the single bar. Ex: Events will typically set up a staff member in a corner serving only beer, wine or spirits. I could go on and on but I don't want to list all the reasons why I this business provided a terrible New Year's Eve experience for us-- I want to offer constructive feedback. read more

I came here because of a Pasta making class we were early & sat at the bar to kill some time, they still had happy hour going on till 7pm. Drinks I had some Red wine to begin with, not bad later switched to white this was good my company had beer , good as well. The lounge area is a nice decent size, there were a few events going on. Once our drinks were done we headed over to the class which was at the opposite end. Service at the bar was a bit slow, price wise ok better at happy prices since it was at half we enjoyed our drinks. The pasta making class was good seems like this lounge is used for events not a bad lounge to spend some time whether it be taking on any of the events they host or having a few drinks. read more

Ding! Welcome to the 3rd floor of the Marriott. The whole space is devoted to a large lounge area. There's a bar that overlooks-ish the SW corner of Bryant Park. It's a great place to chill after a long day's work. They have really good pricing for happy hour, and a great selection of drinks too. I loved their house cab/wine. Wish I got more, but at the same time I didn't want to overdo it. I was there for a meetup event: "Friendly Feud." It was a great time. We sat at the rear of the lounge and had our event, while the hotel guests and other locals could still enjoy the privileges found at the bar area of the lounge. Crowd is a good mix of out-of-towners & Midtown employees looking for an after-work libation. Most recently, I came here for Yaymaker's Paint Nite which was held in a separate room just off of the lounge area. Friendly bartenders. We've ordered champagne & truffle fries here & they've been fine. Remember that you're ordering from a hotel so gratuity & a service charge will automatically be added to your bill. Located at the Residence Inn Times Square, this bar is on the third floor of the hotel, and has a lot of windows with views of nearby Bryant Park. Came here with my company for "Paint Nite", which was fun. The bar is pretty nice, it has open lounge style seating and tvs everywhere. Has a good feel to it, on the modern side with dark, sleek fixtures and high top tables all over. Good spot for happy hour. The cocktail, beer, and wine selection was pretty good, went for both bourbons and beers and liked the choices, including knob creek and goose island. Others I was with got ketel one vodka with soda, rose wine, and kahlua. All drink reviews were positive. The food really wasn't great though, was either super spicy or cold, and most of it was fried. Also, it was pretty hot in this place, and regardless of how many times we asked them to turn up the AC they didn't. Wasn't stifling hot, just uncomfortable. Also, the bartender wasn't very nice, she was pushy and kept asking us to give back our glasses so she could refill our drinks. Was kind of weird, do they not have enough glasses? Place got a little more crowded as the night went on, but was pretty quiet on a Tuesday. After we were done painting, we enjoyed taking in the mets game on one of the tvs while finishing our drinks. Everyone here was business casual, seemed like people after work and those staying at the hotel come here. Kind of a tucked away spot, but a nice break from all of the overcrowded midtown bars. Ordered the mac and cheese w/ bacon ... they forgot the bacon part, so order was wrong. Also, they do not offer room service. You must go down and pick up yourself. They call your room when it is ready. I went down to pick it up after they called for me to come pick up, and waited another 5-7 minutes after I got down there. Was not worth it to go all the way back down to correct their mistake. Dissapointing $25 mac and cheese ... also had to re-heat the cold mac and cheese once I got back to my room ... would have been more satisfied going across the street and buying some kraft mac a cheese and making myself ... serious lack of cheese as well ... read more

What a really good kept secret for Downtown New York! A billiards place thats not even packed, very good appetizers, and friendly bartenders. The only thing I didn't like was that I ordered Calamari- but there was no cook on duty to do it so they had to use another kitchen which was fine. But I could hear the bartender talking to the manager in a negative way about how there was never any help. I wish they opened earlier, I would be there all the time. But the food is still delicious, we took the pool table and the whole other room for well more than one hour because it was so quiet. I even took a break and spoke to the bartender for a bit. She was very friendly and since she was the only one, made use of her time talking to all the people at the bar. Very good service. The manager just stood around. Tucked up on the third floor of the slightly easterly step-sister to the glittering Marriott Marquis, is a lovely little thing so away from our bad day, so away from the crap that was going on in our lives and heads, so away from the noise and heat and light of The City, that it deserves A Real Good Yelping. An hour earlier we had trudged into the oppressive throng of midtown, after three separately long days (weeks, months, years) shared in one stressed out office, seeking only a quick beer to dull the twang of stress ringing our nerves. We walked past our usual McGarry's because it was far too packed. We stopped outside a pub on 8th but the appendages jutting into the street pushed us on. We walked East for blocks and past the din of three more places. We shielded our eyes from the blur of Parrotheads crowding into and spilling out of Stout. (Oh really shitty day??? You gotta throw a Buffett concert in? Parrotheads blocking my way to sweet potato fries?! Ech. That is so below the belt.) Then, we saw that the other always empty place across the street was closed. Sigh. We walked on. Decided to just walk the seven blocks straight towards salvation, a bar where my friend works that is usually too far, but to which we had already walked halfway. Yeah, you guessed it, we arrived to another mess of people blocking our way. We turned around and started to walk down the block. I thought it was over. I thought we were bound to give up. We had to. This unending series of disappointments had just been too much to bear. And our feet were tired. But then. I think it was Jaime that first halfheartedly pointed up and said, "What's that?" As we crooked our necks up and our eyes focused in I remembered seeing those neon signs on the third floor a few times before. "Studio One Hundred, Bar and BIlliards" I read. "Let's go" I heard from a resigned Arti. Speaking tiredly of the dark, empty, velour upholstered space we all wanted, we walked across the street and into the Marriott Residence Inn. On our way up to the third floor, through a pretty wood trimmed and modern lobby, Arti pointed out the sign reading "Jazz Thursdays". Jaime loves Jazz. This was a good sign. Upon entry, a friendly if slightly too perky for my frayed nerves "Hi! Welcome!" greeted us. We purposefully circumnavigated the whole bar, my need to escape drawing us into the far and dark corner. The last in a series of banquets and booths all covered in soft maroon velour fabric under mild blown glass lighting - it was perfect and generously proportioned for three. Had we been dating, it would have been quite the romantic spot, hidden up there behind the dark yet sheer curtains obscuring the now backwards view from behind those neon signs that had grabbed our attention from the street. In our hour of rest we went from three girls staring straight ahead barely able to carry on awful and stress-full carried-over-from-work conversation, to three girls cracking a smile and even giggling as we felt at least a small piece of our unhappiness melting away with every tired breath. Was it the jazz singer around the corner just out of sight with the absolutely beautiful voice? The dark environs we shared with only a handful of other patrons that felt oh-so-blissfully far away from everything that we'd walked past to get there? The realization we were sitting a few feet away from one of the only free pool tables in NYC? The freshly scooped bar nut/crunchy mix served to our table or the mix of smells from the wide variety of food that passed us by? Or perhaps the jokes that started as we sipped our last sips, about the bartender who walked like a fawn. You know, like Puck from a Midsummer's Night Dream. She even had Puck like-boots on. Well, like Puck would have had, had he not been hooved. Regardless of what the exact culprits behind our relaxation were... our hour spent there was refreshing, and that is perfectly enough for me. Lastly, I had walked in knowing full well that I would be paying stupid hotel prices for a simple beer. But when the bill came, the price was less that $5 a pint. Sniff. I stay here when I travel for work (which is frequent). Beautiful lounge. Saxophonist Daniel Bennett plays his original music every Tuesday night. Kind of a mix of jazz and folk music. The place is very cool. They have paint night and pizza making meet-ups, too! read more
