I would come back to Cambria just for this restaurant! I saw they had a butter flight on Yelp and we decided to go despite knowing nothing else about it! The place is so charming, staff very welcoming and small town and the FOOD! I literally cried eating this meal, and we go out to fine dining all the time. This place is better than Michelin star restaurants I've been to by miles! The bread changed my life I'll never stop thinking about it, and the polenta....get it just as it is, that oil on top is killer! This place is great for an intimate dinner. It's set in a cozy house that was built in the late 1800s. They have local art work adorning the walls and the staff are so friendly. Our servers name was Delphina I believe, wonderful woman, she told us a little about the house that the restaurant is in. My mom and I ordered the butter flight, the garlic shrimp with polenta and the beet salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the beet salad. It had beets, pistachios, chèvre, endive and an other greens. It was delicious. The butter flight had three butters, lavender, sardine and grass fed Irish. I enjoyed the lavender and sardine but my favorite was the Irish butter. It came with pinsa bread which is similar to focaccia but not as greasy. It's soooo good. The garlic shrimp on polenta was also good but I want to warn people of the spice level. It is a tiny bit spicy because of the Calabrian chili that's in it. The flavor is fabulous but if you are sensitive to spicy food, maybe let them know that you want to skip that ingredient, they seem to be very accommodating. We didn't have room for dessert but they do have two. One is the dark chocolate pudding which is similar to ganache and a pistachio gelato. What an incredible little jewel of a restaurant we stumbled on during a brief stop in Cambria. Dog friendly patio seating, we enjoyed a late lunch that included sharing of plates of scrumptious food. We were well taken care of by Elaine and really had a wow experience here! The bread with the butter flight was SO good, apparently imported from Italy this dish a MUST if you are a butter fiend like we are. My personal second favorite were the carrots. Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! I'm not gonna bore you with my story. Let's just talk about how good the food and service is here. My husband and I shared the rib eye and it was perfect! Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. We also had the butter trio, highly recommend. As for ambience the place is a stunning little house built in 1877. The walls and floors are all original wood. And if you're into the paranormal you may feel a little something here. The staff is so warm and welcoming and they were more than happy to talk about their resident ghost. The ambiance was great, we were seated in a cozy room that even had rolled up blankets for the bench seating. We also had fantastic service, with great wine recommendations. Unfortunately the food fell short for all 4 of us. Maybe we came on a bad night but the food was really lacking in flavor and taste. For our last night in Cambria we got a reservation at Brydge. When we walked into the historic home that houses the restaurant we found something really special. The restaurant was gently lit with understated paintings hanging on exposed wooden walls. There were even blankets piled in a corner in case you were cold and needed to bundle up for your meal. The whole place had a vibe like you were visiting a familiar and unassuming home (Maybe this is what it's like to visit home if your parents are interesting artists and good cooks?!). We ordered the steak dinner and the olive oil potatoes. Everything was straightforward, unpretentious, and very well prepared. The steak was generously portioned for two hungry guests, with a beautiful burnished crust, topped with butter and flaky salt. While obivously the center of the meal, it didn't outshine the simply dressed salad and charred flat bread accompanying it. Even the long spicy and sweet peppers accompanying the steak were remarkable in their own way, and excellent with the crisp potatoes or smashed into some butter on flat bread. The service was fast and helpful. Perhaps most noteworthy, we didn't feel pressured to buy more or go for the upgrades in an industry facing brutally thin margins. Instead, our server seemed to radiate the same vibe of quiet welcome pervading Brydge: feed people good food, help them feel welcome, but above all let them enjoy a quiet meal, as if they're somewhere like home. read more

We really enjoyed our dinner at Brydge. We shared all our small plates. The bread and butter plate was original and delicious! The roasted mushrooms were excellent, well seasoned and presented. The shrimp and polenta was very good. The polenta was very good - buttery! The beet salad was fresh and tasted great. Now for the kicker. The Sicilian gelato! This was authentic, rich, creamy and delicious. It was the first time I have ever had authentic Italian gelato in the US. Service was good but it was a little too fast but no one rushed us, the dishes came out a lot quicker than we would have imagined. Highly recommend when you're in Cambria. read more

The place is cute but feels a bit awkward in layout since it's a house turned into a restaurant. The staff was pleasant, but my beet salad ($22) came well after I'd finished my tiny Wagyu burger ($26), which was only about 4-5 ounces, came with just lettuce and no sides. All of the other entrées are designed for two, so if you're dining solo or as a couple who likes different dishes -- tough luck. They also only offer two white wines and one rosé by the glass. I left hungry -- and I'm a small eater -- and even considered going somewhere else afterward. The flavors were mediocre at best, nothing special or memorable. I really appreciate the top notch service (especially during a time that we seem to have lost that) that we received. We started out with small plates. The roasted beets and polenta. Can I say? That was yummy and probably the best polenta I've ever had! It was drizzled with a lemon oil and a little cheese. It went well with the greens that came with the beets. I've been visiting Cambria for ages and a friend recommended Brydge. The service was great. The atmosphere was relaxed in an 1877 house converted to a restaurant. The wood paneling, art, earthy light fixtures and local wildflowers set the vibe. The food was excellent. We did all small plates. Olives, beet salad, the roasted mushrooms and sweet onions, polenta with sage leaves, brown butter and Meyer lemon oil. The mixed greens salad and the Pinsa bread. All delicious and a perfect serving for two people. We also did the dry cocktails - the Ginger Lime spritz and the pear blossom fizzy. Both excellent and refreshing. We sat on the back patio looking up the hillside with Mexican Sage, red Hot Lips, and a resident hummingbird. Nice ambiance! My had the olives as a starter, the half-roasted chicken, with potatoes and salad. The food was delicious. I asked our server for a wine recommendation and she picked a winner for me. The outdoor dining area is dog friendly but felt like being shuffled into a dimly lit back alley. It got cold once it was nightfall. Interior dining appears much more warm and well lit vs. the exterior. Don't recommend sitting outside. And don't bother sharing the Wagyu Ribeye or be smart and ask how many ounces of beef each person will have on their individual plate. I regret I did not ask that earlier. We dined at Brydge Restaurant for Valentine's Day this year and the food did not disappoint! The smoked Trout appetizer was PHENOMENAL with the lemon ricotta sauce and our shared entree of steak was just as good. It came with a salad and bread and was the perfect amount to share with my guy. The people were so kind and helpful and the seating was cozy and charming with it being in an old historic house. We love love loved this place and would 200% come back!! Make reservations because they book up- but it's so worth the wait! Fantastic food. My only regret is that I didn't take any photos because I was so preset in my dining experience. 10/10! read more

Words cannot explain how amazing the steak is here. As the party next to me said, and I quote "This place ruined steak for me. How am I ever going to cook a steak like this? I can't do this at home!" We went a little overboard because we wanted to try everything. For us, the steak was the star of the show. Our second favorite was the mushrooms, simple yet delicate and flavorful, and lastly the clams to round out the bunch. I might be the only one that felt this way hit the potatoes were, well potatoes - that isn't to say that they were bad but with a menu like this I would have gotten something else instead. The electricity happened to go out so we ended up having the romantic aspect turned up a notch. Walked in before 4pm on a Sunday for 4th of July weekend after visiting Hearst Castle. Not busy at all, plenty of indoor seating. Outdoors was nice as well. It looks like a little house that converted into a restaurant. There's parallel street parking. Our server was so knowledgeable and he said rule of thumb is 2 plates a person to share (if just appetizers and not the house suppers aka main entrees). They didn't have anymore seafood chowder, so we got their substitute soup, the Tucson bean. SO good. My bf loved the mushrooms and the noodles. The potatoes were great, can be oily for some people. I've been curious in trying Brydge since it opened a couple of months ago, so we had the chance to go while in town for lunch just before we left. We ordered some small plates (smushed potatoes and roasted beets), which were lovely: the potatoes were tender and the aioli were creamy, while the roasted beets were sweet and tangy from the goat cheese. My partner and I split the kimchi grilled cheese and mushroom burger. I was informed the kimchi is homemade, and it was pretty good: the sesame seeds were a bit excessive, but otherwise the kimchi was sharp, pungent, and had a kick to it. Grilled cheese part was gooey, crispy, and decadent: the American cheese was a bit bland, so it would've been nice to have the kimchi paired with mozzarella or Cheddar. The mushroom burger was juicy and the buns absolutely buttery, although a tad on the salty side. I also ordered a non-alcoholic drink (a "mocktail"), which was a ginger/lime spritz: SO sour, yet refreshing and a palate cleanser between bites. I'd be happy to try more mocktails on the menu! Service was friendly and warm; the servers and manager knew how to make us feel at home. Four of us shared a couple of small plates - olives and the butter tasting, which is three different types of butter they create and served with soft flatbread that they make from scratch. OMG it was all so scrumptious! Then we shared the wagyu prime ribeye and the other couple shared the eggplant cassoulet. OMG again!!! First off, I have a hard time sharing a steak because I'm a medium-well kinda girl and almost no one else is. I was sharing it with a medium-rare person, so we thought we were going to have a problem when we ordered it that way. But, no! I ate it! It was prepared perfectly, and was so tender and tasty!! Wow! That's DIFFERENT and a FIRST for me! The other couple really enjoyed their eggplant too, even though one of them was vegetarian and the other wasn't. He still loved it! The service was really great too. We were welcomed when we walked in even though everyone was busy. Our waitress was awesome in explaining everything to us and we enjoyed each of her recommendations. The place is small but quite intimate. You should definitely make reservations ahead of time. There is a covered outdoor patio out back as well which would be great for large dinner parties or celebrations. This is a HIGH RECOMMEND from me, folks! I could tell that they really cared about their craft, the space they create, and the people who came through it. It was truly an honor to eat here. The food was 10/10. I could taste the love. The Brydge is a beautiful little rustic house that has been made into a restaurant. When we ventured in, the owner/chef met us and seated us at a little table by the window at a table where they had rolled up blankets as cushions (or blankets if needed). I ordered the grilled cheese with mushrooms and it came with a side salad. First off, I never order grilled cheese, but this sounded so good with the addition of mushrooms that I had to try it. I was happy that I did. The sandwich was perfectly toasted and gooey with two types of cheese and the unctuous mushrooms. It was the side salad that was the perfect balance. It was a dijon vinaigrette with dill and other seasonings. It was sooo good. I hope to go back someday! read more

This is a strange review to write since I'll go with the questionable stuff first and then the good parts of the restaurant later. My friends and I went to this place on a Saturday night and after looking at the menu, we decided we would try the prime rib-eye steak. On the physical menu, the price was listed as $68 for the steak. However, we overheard a table next to us question their bill, because they too had ordered the steak thinking it was $68, but they were charged $86. When we placed our order for the steak, the staff explained to us that there was a price change in the steak, and it is not $68. The price is $86. The staff member said she wanted us to know about the price change, because 2 tables were unaware tonight when they ordered. My friends and I agreed to go ahead with our order. In hindsight now, I wonder if this was a restaurant price-gouging that night to their customers, or truly a mishap on the restaurant for not updating the menu properly to reflect the accurate price. This is questionable to me now, because the price of the steak is a significant difference, especially compared to restaurants such as Fleming's, and an almost $20 difference seems excessive and questionable. The steak was good, but not worth almost $90 in my opinion. One of the salads that came with the steak had a very tart dressing that overpowered the salad for us, so we recommend if you get that, just be prepared. However, our meal was overall good, but I don't feel it reflects the price for what we paid. We had the beet salad, grilled prawns, and garlic bread with different flavors of butter. As for service, we received great service. Sage, our waitress, was incredibly patient, warm, and sweet. She even brought us extra bread, which we so appreciate given the butter varieties we ordered to eat bread with. She really made the experience welcoming for us. This place is located next to Brydge Inn, literally. The lights weren't working outside the restaurant that night, so we got lost initially. The restaurant is an old cottage-looking, charming house converted into a restaurant. The décor is cute and cozy. read more
