Took my e46 BMW here to have a set of camber plates installed and the tires aligned so the car would stop eating tires every 8-10k miles. Job was performed perfectly and for a reasonable price. Also had them do a brake fluid flush and diagnose a drive line noise that had been bothering me for a long time. The found a cracked guibo which I had them replace as well. Car runs as good as when I bought it from the dealership and was certainly cheaper then taking it to the stealership and they even washed the car for me which was nice. Was missing a tool and needed something done before I could put my car back together. Went in, explained the situation and they too care of what I needed. Ran out got home and finished my project. Came in for some coolant work. Shop said problem was solved 250$ later. Problem wasn't solved. Now it's a month later and I'm having the same problem. Shop isn't giving me a discount to get it fixed or standing by their previous work. Shop told me that I came in for a diagnosis of a leak and not the cause of the leak, even though I specifically remember telling them to find the cause. They didn't even check my audis fans. Turns out they're the issue. Shop is supposed to be knowledgeable but they have my car low quality care. Not happy with btm. read more

Brad took in my disaster of a motor rebuild project that had 3 other businesses hands on it. I used to run a race shop and I know how bad these type of projects can be. The other companies can provide bad parts and you take the blame, high risk with little reward. But despite that Brad took in my project and got my M3 running at a great price. His staff was friendly and I had complete confidence each time I visited to delivered more bits and pieces of the car. There was initially a problem with the rebuilt trans he sold me, but he replaced it without question at no charge, and the new one is great. Called in a few weeks ago to get a quote for some extensive labor. A manual transmission swap for my simple 80's BMW. I was told that I would be called back later that day. I was not. I called the next day or two later. I think it was Rich or Rick I'm not sure as I didn't care to remember. I reminded him of my request days earlier and was told they had no record of it, meaning they never even took me seriously or that he had no proof, either way that was fine. He told me that they only do work with their own parts and that they wouldnt even consider the job even though the parts I'd be buying are from a nation-wide distributor and are no less reliable than the parts they would ALSO be buying online from a similar dealer. Probably World-PAC so that they could charge a ridiculous mark up on the same OE parts. Not gonna go back...wait I wasn't welcome anyway. Cool. read more

I own too many cars to want to want to bother learning servicing the 5 series BMW so Brad was close so I trusted his service for four years. An intermittent functioning newly installed seat belt that Brad installed and would replace after two years usage - was charged for windshield fluid after I had previously added within a week, but missed brake fluid levels and a flat spare tire twice. Courtesy transportation and better attention when the car was finished would have been appreciated as other repair shop we delt with in past that were farther away. Johnny S. Wait till you set up your E36 for the track, their alignment machine can't even read 2.5degrees of camber and 7degrees caster. Let alone you probably need over 3degrees of camber in the front. I took E36M3 there, the machanic said it won't even read it if I run more car camber, he said "he'll try his best". I had to take it else where for alignment (wheel works) which also comfirm the machine won't even read anything more than 2degrees camber on an E36. I had to take it to California wheels which is right next door of wheel works on Alum Rock, they have a new, better kind of alignment machine, with paddle like lazer reflector that was able to dial in exactly what I want. Regular Maintenance wise, almost any competant shop can do and so is BTM Motorwekrs, any performance wise, no thanks! Conclusion, i'm just bum out that BTM claimed they're experienced with Ground Crontrol, Vashlag ect...performance set up. I had to paid ~$160 for nothing cuz it's not warrantee, in return they pryed the hell out of my Vorslag camber plate, and have pay someone else to do my alignment correctly. read more

I took my car in for a diagnostic and possibly get my car repair in this place. Mike helped me right away and explain how the process works - I told him what's been happening to my car, I left my car at the shop, they work on their diagnostic, and he called me back after about an hour to tell me the problem was and the price quote. Mind you, I have a 19 year old car so I knew the part that needs replacement won't be easy to find/purchase and I knew it won't be cheap. My mass airflow sensor was the problem and they've explained to me the quote on why it is that price. Unfortunately, it wasn't in my money range (paid bills since I'm a responsible adult just like other human beings in this planet) so I just picked up my car from the shop since I work literally 5 minutes walk and paid for the diagnostic fee. Mike wasn't there when I came back but I believe Josh was the person at the desk who told me that they will try to look for a used part for my car so it will be a cheaper cost for me and call me back once they've found one. I expect a phone call in a few weeks btw :) I really appreciate their exceptional customer service to go above and beyond for their customers. I don't know if other shops try to look for a used part (mass air flow sensor in my case) so their customers can have their car fixed. I wish Brad was there so I could meet him but he was on vacation. I love shops that has a crew of car enthusiast because I find their passion for repairing and racing their cars at the race track is something I look up to a lot. Here's an update since my review last October. I've had yet another coil problem, and BTM *again* replaced the coil for free. Parts, labor, everything. Completely covered. The original replacement was over a year ago. Most shops will warrantee work for 90 days at most. BTM's commitment to customer service is fantastic. read more

I've brought in my car for repairs several times and they botch the job every time and have to take back the car to get redone. Ultimately I take it to the dealership to have it fixed correctly. I would not recommend taking your car to this place. When I confront the owner Brad he makes up excuses. Lesson learned, this place is unreliable and incompetent. read more

BTM is hands down the best German car shop in the area. Brad, the owner, is great and his techs are quick and do amazing work. Not only do they repair cars but also race them. They are passionate about cars in general and are absolute perfectionists which is exactly what I want in a shop. I've taken my BMWs to other shops over the years and always felt as if I was being overcharged, taken advantage of, or not receiving quality work. BTM is always honest and extremely fair priced for the quality of work being done. I always receive excellent customer service starting with the service adviser, to the technicians, and the ownership. Very satisfied with the service and prices here. Both our BMW and VW get repairs at BTM, and so far the shop has been able to correctly diagnose and repair any issues in minimal time and for the expected cost. Big thank you to Mike & BTM! Two service lights popped up on my dashboard, one that said "low battery" and another that said "battery discharge" (semi-scary.) I Googled "BMW certified repair shop" and these guys popped up. Thank goodess! They fixed my problem and had me back on the road in no time. Why 5 stars? 1) They're straightforward with quotes. Based on my description of the problem by phone, Mike suggested a couple possible scenarios and was fully transparent about related costs. 2) It was easy to get an appointment, and service was fast. I called around 2:00pm, and Mike had my car in for diagnostics by 2:30pm. Within the hour, BTM had my car up & running with a new battery, and I was out the door. By contrast, the dealership and a few other places I'd called told me I'd need to leave the car for 3-4 hrs. 3) Pricing was competitive. The dealership quoted over $600 to replace the battery. Mike and BTM did the work for 30% less. (Note: They didn't replace with a BMW battery, which Mike advised would've been more expensive.) 4) They're nice, honest guys. :) Diagnostics are usually a half hour minimum charge, but Mike billed me for only 15 minutes. Also, initially, it wasn't clear if the problem was the battery or the alternator (more expensive fix than the battery.) I could've been misled to think that the alternator needed replacement, but Mike walked me through the diagnostics and offered a few options....including deferring replacement. (I decided to go the safe route and replace the battery.) Great first time customer experience. I would definitely go back! read more

Wow! What a great group of helpful, caring people here (especially Michael). I got a flat tire in their parking lot picking up my dog (their next door neighbor). It was after hours for them. They found me a compatible used tire in their lot, drove my car around back, changed it and asked for nothing in return. Literally ... nothing. Why would they do that? I feel like this place might be misunderstood. Shops can have on and off days. A string of unfortunate events that can leave a bad taste in the customers mouth. Overall, I think these guys are pretty cool. Their pics and even name suggest they don't care to work on your AC or your oil changes. They want to deal with motorsport and this fact oozes from them. These guys are great! I have an '04 BMW X5 and have had consistent problems with the coolant light and now misfiring. The dealer has been difficult and evasive on taking any responsibility for this under warranty. BTM had figured out that I had coolant leaking into my engine in an hour of labor- the car had been to both Steven's Creek and Fremont BMW several times and they could not/would not figure out the problem. Upon explaining that I think the problem started while the vehicle was still under warranty, Josh told me I should go back to the dealer. This would have been a $3,000 +++ deal for BTM, but instead, they replaced my cracked spark plug, put everything back together, supplied a photo of the device they used to test for exhaust in the coolant and a Technical Service Bulletin for this very problem (which somehow the dealers ignored) for $172!!! I've taken my car to them about 5 times and their diagnosis, repairs and installed mods are spot on. There is no "It can't be done" with BTM. If I have some specific requests they accommodate it. If there is a better way, they recommend it. If there are any"might as wells" they will suggest it. It's a bit more expensive... but it's done right the first time. These guys are a couple of blocks from my office, so I keep coming here with my two cars. They are very knowledgable, professional, and easy to deal with. They are not the cheapest shop, but they are a lot cheaper than the dealer, and do better work. They have manufacturer-specific diagnostics software, at least for Mercedes and Audi. read more

After being misdiagnosed and overcharged by Dinan Engeneering in Campbell I took my 530 CI to BTM They correctly identified the problem and performed an excellent and timely job of repairing the problem with my transmission for a cost of about 35% less than I was quoted by Dinan.(They also correctly diagnosed the problem; Dinan said I needed a $6000 transmission replacement, BTM solved the problem with a $1500.00 torque converter replacement!) They also threw in the cost of a rental car as part of their service! I'm told that many former Dinan customers are flocking to BTM since Dinan changed ownership awhile ago. Got what I wanted to get done. Brad helped me get my stage 2+ revo software set up on my 2007 a4. However, he charged for labor which kind of sucks because all he does is plug in a computer into my car and goes back to his other work until its done. He also did not know how to specifically tune it how i wanted and didn't want to work with me on it. After I insisted about how the software could be tweaked around to the settings you want, he called revo and confirmed it. So we got it done how I wanted in the end, but his lack of knowledge when it came to his software, and the fact that he was pretty dry and almost seemed grumpy, earns him a 3 star. read more

I took my Audi there to have it worked on. They had the car for 3 weeks and NOT ONCE called to update me on the status of my car. We spend $6,000 on it, and two days after getting the car back, it broke down again!! We took the car back since they guarantee their work, and they had our car for an additional 4 weeks, again, NOT ONCE calling us to update us..My husband went in to check on the car to find out that they were replacing the ENGINE, and didn't bother to consult us or get out consent. I ended up calling and filing a complaint with Diamond Certified, who agreed with me, that their behavior was unacceptable. Thankfully BTM accepted full financial responsibility for the work they did the second time around. We definitely will never take our car back there, for any reason. read more

Brad @ BTM knows his air cooled 911's. After buying a 1980 out of state, he did a look over of the car and got it ready to pass CA smog. He was able to find a few little things that need addressing and made my smog a success. I am new to air cooled 911's and he took the time to show me some tips for me to work on and adjust the car myself. I don't write many reviews, but I will from time to time for establishments and people that I feel deserve them; this is one of those cases. My experience with BTM has been fantastic. I have been a BMW enthusiast for a number of years now and would consider myself to be highly involved in the local BMW community; as well as being a track and autocross enthusiast. I am slightly picky when it comes to letting others work on my car, since I can do much of the work myself and can identify a good job from a mediocre one. Out of the only two or three shops in the ENTIRE Bay Area that I will let work on my vehicle, BTM is one of them. Brad (the owner) has been friendly and welcoming from the start and the technicians are knowledgeable about their craft. The best part is, they are huge enthusiasts themselves, for the same vehicles that you bring to them for service; and they are also highly involved in the local enthusiast community. They competitively prepare and race their own vehicles when they aren't at the shop wrenching; it doesn't get much better than that. I don't give many recommendations, but BTM gets a big one from me.
