April 28, 2026 and I have been stopping every month or so for 6+ months to have an OBDII scanner read the progress of my 2011 GMC 2500HD Duramax (diesel) resetting/updating so that it can pass a smog check. It failed elsewhere 6+ months ago. In the last 1 year and 3 days I have spent more than $5777 at the dealer because of DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) quality errors and fixes... Why the dealership? Because of the 2 year warranty. The DEF smog equipment is a sore subject that is NOT related to this business. At Premium Auto Repair Center, once I explained what I was going through and showing over 1/4" of invoices, they gladly took the time to check the OBD and share the results with me each time I stopped in/by. A shout out to the owner and all employees for your assistance and today it passed the smog check. As a side note, to avoid high emission output the ECU/ECM limits the truck to 55 mph and then limits the truck to 4 mph (so it can be loaded on a flatbed tow truck)... I had multiple disappointing experiences at this shop. First, my 2020 Hyundai Elantra was shaking at highway speeds. I was told it was a suspension issue and was quoted pricey repairs. I got a second opinion, replaced all four tires, had them balanced, and the shaking was gone. The suspension repair they told me wasn't the cause in my case. Separately, with my 2018 Honda Civic, I brought it in for a clunking noise diagnosis. When I came back, I found the car had been taken apart and they were preparing to install a new axle without getting my authorization first. I was shocked that such a major repair was being started before I had approved it. They also told me they changed all 4 my break pads and rotors but when I went to another shop the confirmed nothing is done to the car so I took back and he told some bs about break pads being in wrong position but since the car was making same noises as before I am 100% they forgot to do it or wanted to scam me. I did a lot of business with him but doing this type of thing is not nice for a long term customer. read more

Over long weekend my Magnum all of a sudden just wouldn't start. I had my suspicions as to the issue (fuel pump). Despite agreeing to use original or OEM parts, he installed aftermarket parts without my permission and charged me for OEM parts. Mr Naj promised a FULL REFUND if all the parts were returned, but REFUSED to honor this agreement, after all parts were returned. To make matters worse, I had to take him to small claims court to recover my money and WE WON. He appealed to Superior Court, but WE WON AGAIN. The best mechanic ive ever been to. ive had mechanics in the past who were rude, too busy to talk, and they do the bare minimum. Naj is the exact opposite. His work and his customer service is exemplary, calling me frequently as he went through the troubleshooting process on my 2003 Nissan Altima, which had a slew of problems. He went through the entire car and made sure the whole thing was in perfect working order, in a timely manner as well. No matter how busy he was, he had no problem sitting down and talking to me. I came from Sacramento to see my kid in Campbell after I realize my car is shaking and check engine light on. I called premium auto. They told me bring your car and leave it for one hour. I will check it for you , after one hour. Naj called me and he told me number four ignition coil wire damage , I told him go ahead Fix it , Do whatever you need. I have to go back home. I brought my 2004 Isuzu Rodeo to Naj (owner) for repair assessment. Indeed, the noise on the front wheels when driving are coming from the worn-out wheel bearings which he replaced including the whole bearing assembly. These are my comments: - Naj is very honest, professional and easy to work with - His cost is very competitive - The shop is very organized and accessible - He has full crew of mechanics - Very timely - He showed me the old parts that he replaced - I noticed that he has many customers that are very confident with him about his work - Naj and his mechanics are very respectful and friendly There are a lot of mechanics I know and I brought my Rodeo to several of them before bringing it to Naj, and although they are all competitive in cost, I feel more comfortable and confident with him. I brought my car in for Check Engine light. They said it would cost $650 - $700 to repair several things. When I picked it up it was $900 dollars. A few days later, I was driving it home at night from the hospital, when my car died. We got a tow truck to tow it to Premium Auto. The next morning I went there and was told by Naj that the transmission was shot. According to Naj, it would cost $5,500 to fix. The car's Blue Book was valued at $5,800. He told us he would call up his friend at the auto wrecker who would pay $2,000 for it less a $200 fee for whatever. 3 days later it was on his lot for sale!?! He tried to keep our personalized license plates, but my wife called and demanded he return them, which he did when she went and confronted him. He told the DMV that our license plates were STOLEN, so we were unable to attach them to our new vehicle. This guy is a scam artist - DON'T GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS BUSINESS!!!!! read more

After Naj saw my original review, he reached out to me by calling me (many times) and texting me to try and "make things right". He wanted to "give me my money back" because he felt bad having my money if I wasn't satisfied with the services that his shop did. When I made time to talk to him and took him up on his offer, he back pedaled and asked how much I had paid (it was $1065 or so) and said he can give me $500 and asked if I would consider editing my Yelp review. Naj asked me to give him my credit card number. I wasn't going to give my credit number again, so he offered to write a check and said I could come pick it up. I did not want any more interaction with this buisness, and I figured he may try to talk me into letting him work on my car again, so I asked if he could mail it instead. I gave him an address (my work) and Naj kept texting me to see if I got the check yet, and he was asking me about the address. I finally texted him saying: "That check has not arrived yet. The address I gave you is my work. It will probably come next week. I will edit the Yelp review as you requested. Please stop calling me. At this point it is almost harassment and I will block your number." Its been 5 weeks since he mailed the check. The check has not arrive yet. I spent $3000 on my car (about how much it is worth) having another shop look at it and try to fix a jerking that the car started doing, after it left Premium Auto, when it is under load. The other shop just told me that the valve cover gasket looks like it needs to be replaced because oil leaked into the spark plugs. Naj's shop had replaced the value cover gasket (which I have done myself before, but I did not have the time and I've never messed up my car doing it). read more

I took my Subaru Forester in because it was shaking at high speeds and my dad and I had trouble figuring out the problem. I reached out to the shop and was able to show up same day at my convivence. Naj did a free diagnosis, he listened to the problems I already eliminated, and within 15 minutes he found the right control arm was broken! Naj was helpful in showing me how it was broken. Less than two hours later he replaces the part and test drove it to make sure the shaking had stopped. He even gave me back the broken part to show my dad. I really appreciate the free diagnosis as other shops and the dealership were charging $120-180 an hour for that service. read more

I don't like leaving reviews but felt others should be aware. I came to premium auto center for a smog check after calling Naj the day before and confirming his price from the other reviews which was $50 total for a new car including the smog cert. Turns out that price is just to get you in the door and once the work has been completed they run up the tab to $90 for a SMOG CHECK because they can't "guarantee" pricing day to day. Very disappointing as Naj seemed like a trustworthy guy and got the work done quickly. However, be careful as charges tend to magically appear here. read more

Owner overcharges / misleads female customers. I took my car here for an oil change and had no issues. Recommended it to my girlfriend when she needed an oil change. Naj did several unrequested work items on her car, including replacing air filters which she had just installed a month prior. I went for a smog test. They were quick and pleasant to deal with.

I needed a tune up, oil change and brakes. I put out a request to 5 shops and Raj called me back first. Said he could check the car out right away and give me a quote. Shop is about 1000 ft from my house so I drove over. He checked it out and I could validate his suggestions because I do know about cars just don't have the tools and the time. Went inside spoke to him about what was going to get done and what is suggested to get done at X amount of miles and I agreed. He went further in explaining he only uses Denso parts for Toyotas which is Toyotas OEM factory parts pretty much. I was aware and impressed. He gave me a reasonable quote I agreed to drop the car off the next day. Dropped it off in the morning they just finished this afternoon and when I picked it up the price was significantly lower than what was one the original quote. He said it was just an estimate and gave me a kind nod and said thank you and have a nice day but didn't say I'll see you soon!!! Lol! Thanks Raj and fam! read more

I took my car in because it sounded louder than it has in the past. I ended up paying over $700 and Naj said it was only my engine vibrating and there was nothing he could do. For no other reason, except to get my money, he said i needed an oil and filter change and my rear brake pads needed replacing. I had recently had my oil changed and the sticker on the windshield showed i had only driven 769 miles. Regrettable, I did agree to this over the phone and he said the total cost would be around $600. But looking at my receipt closely after I picked up my car, he charged me $242 in labor to change my oil, air and cabin filters, flush my brakes, flush my coolant and install new windshield wipers. ( I did ask for new windshield wipers, but i swear they are working bad just like the old ones) Total cost $738.74. Brake pads plus labor totaled $278.25, and seems reasonable, but the other work wasn't necessary and i would not have agreed to if I knew the amount he would charge for labor.
