Interesting thrift store. Not your typical bargain bin type thrift store; more like an upscale vintage store. There were some interesting vintage items, but everything was way overpriced. I saw a lot of Old Hollywood style decor items that I wanted but the price was too high. I'll find it on ebay for cheaper. Many things appeared to be in "as is" condition with flaws and damage. Guy employee with dark hair was very nice and they let customers use the restroom. And there's a small parking lot, too. Lots of high end furniture, antiques, rugs, wall art, vintage lamps, some overpriced knic knacs, vintage and consignment type clothes. read more

Crazy expensive. Why is there art for sale for thousands of dollars at a thrift store? I could get new art for that. I came looking for a pretty wall hanging, but even beat up art prints with busted frames was selling for $350-$800. There was even a rusted bicycle selling for $1350. Are you kidding?! I think it's great that the money goes to a great cause! HOWEVER the prices are ridiculous for furniture and women's clothes. I think women's shoes were normal priced to me for a thrift store. That's just from what I looked at personally. For example I tried on a dress in the fitting room and really liked it. It was $50 dollars and i was shocked so I googled the brand because i had never heard of them before and I wanted to see if I was getting something special. Y'all.... I pulled up the exact dress straight from their website and it was $30.00.. it was out of stock so I was like ok.. it is rare and I can't get it from the brand anymore. I guess. Poshmark also had the dress for less than 50. As far as furniture I think it's worth checking out but I think you could get the same pieces unused for same or less price. Some pieces did look rare, I just have a hard time spending thousands on something that is really used and does need to be fixed up. At that point I rather buy new. This is a very large thrift store with a male staff that can be grumpy but the ladies are always kind. The prices are inflated HOWEVER if you look deep you WILL find some goodies. The upscale stuff is OLD and a little musky but their artworks and housewares are varied and in great shape overall. What I really admire about this organization is the rehabilitation center it is affiliated to. We need more places like these. Places where our money goes into something to believe in and take a souvenir back with you , especially if one is a savvy antiques buyer. Lots of fun if you have time to kill and a little side pocket money you want to use to benefit both YOU and those in need of guidance and support. read more

Customer service is friendly. Parking is pure luck, as is most things in this part of town so nothing surprising. Prices are way high, definitely marked up compared to any other Salvation Army, ma-pa thrift shop, Goodwill, etc. Nothing particularly amazing or unique, just a lot of random things in a relatively small shop space. Good to peruse through for 10 minutes, but don't expect to come out with a bunch of fairly priced treasures. read more

I hope the management reads this... I used to come here when I was young and first moved to LA - I found all of my dishes and many affordable household goods that helped me build my first apartment. I went in today - 8 years later and was very sad to see what I saw. Items for $8000?!? Used cups for $20? This place used to be so good - it's turned into an expensive junk antique store. I give it two stars instead of one because it's interesting to see the mountain of discarded brick a brac donated from tea holders to silverware to furniture. However 90% of what they have is so overpriced, often as if not MORE expensive than brand new, that it defeats the purpose of being a "thrift" store. Prices are quite high, average price on furniture starts at $20 for a small ugly straw stool up to $500s for an old beat up piano or large crafty table. Lots of antique collectables and you can spend hours sifting through dust if you are into such finds. Overall, not my cup of tea but good for avid antique shoppers. read more

I've been passing by this thrift store for months, and today I had the time. My daughter and I rushed in, eager to check it out. I found so many lovely items, like: yoga bras, yoga pants, a swimsuit and a rice paddle. I waited patiently behind a couple of older ladies. At my turn, I greeted the young woman with the pinkish-red hair. She did not respond to my greeting, nor would she reach to accept my items. She looked past me with a grimace. When I understood she was going to ignore me, I took everything I had selected and put it back. The last item I returned was the green basket as we left. So disappointed. Charities should never have SALES advertised on YELP. Like.. Seriously? This place is an obvious scam. I just want to know how a vase is sold for 895 bucks at a THRIFT SHOP. How a barstool made of pleather with a slash through its side is sold for 500 bucks at a THRIFT SHOP. How used bathroom mats are sold for 100 bucks at a THRIFT SHOP. How does any of this make sense? This store hides behind the word "Charity" as if it means something to them. What they mean is tax-free money that lines the owner's pockets with hard-earned money from people like you and me who actually believe they are overpaying for a good cause. Proceeds go to a good charity? Sad but simply NOT TRUE. I was just here. The goods are obviously damaged and WAY overpriced. We drive by this place all of the time and decided to venture in today- I wish I read the reviews on Yelp beforehand. I could not believe some of the price tags, you'd think you were in some exquisite gallery in Beverly Hills, not a THRIFT SHOP in Palms. "Buy this falling apart lawn chair for 150 bucks, it might give you Asbestos and we'll only give a dollar out of the 150 to charity, but c'mon!! You're doing the right thing!" SERIOUSLY? I personally find it ridiculous and absurd to pay $150 for crappy lawn sunning chairs- EACH. There were a stack of four sunning chairs total that looked like they belonged poolside of a skeezy motel, which is probably where they came from. The cushions were worn out and absolutely disgusting- mold was growing on one of them and only two were in refurbish-able condition, both being sun-stain and faded. They smelled old and were full of dust- for these type of chairs in MINT condition, you'd pay $10-20 bucks at a garage sale or any other "normal" thrift shop! But at a place that hides behind the word "charity" you can markup these items 500%. This place is very misleading- it should NOT be able to be listed as a "thrift shop" on Yelp and it should not say "THRIFT SHOP" in huge, bold letters on the front of its building as that is not what it is- it is a "Charity" that marks up and sells "gently" used items. Most people like to go to thrift shops because it is EXACTLY that- an adventure that ends with a thrifty purchase. Tell me how this place is rated 2 dollar signs- it needs to look like this- $$$ or $$$$ to Yelpers. read more

Best thrift shop I have ever been in, a.k.a. "House of Return Thrift". They are open 7 days, & are located across the street from Sony Pictures. Selection is outstanding, merchandise is clean & in good shape, prices are wonderful and many bargains can be found. If things do not sell immediately, the prices are reduced. They have a large inventory and need to move things out. I saw many interesting paintings, collectibles, and vintage furniture pieces. I was like a kid in a candy store. I am convinced this place wants me dead. They cover all the parking out front with furniture for sale, making it so there is no sidewalk or room to pass by. So how does one get by this place if you're just trying to stroll down the block? You have to walk into the street, often with your back to traffic, on Washington Blvd. Not a good idea, I've seen plenty of people do this, including people with babies in strollers. What's your other option? You can detour around the dumpster and walk directly in front of their door which I assume is some ploy to direct traffic inside. If you have a stroller though I don't even know if you can make it around all the shit outside, the street may be your only option. I checked out the store itself once, and was unimpressed. Lots of stuff, lots of crap. And for the record I dig thrift shops, I've gotten house items and some dope shirts now and again from thrift shops, this one just kind of sucks. Sorry. I guess I'd give the furniture section a small bump up because there were some good pieces but that's about it. So there you go, walk down Washington and you have three options: Cross the street far ahead of time to be on the opposite side of the road. Go out of your way to walk directly in front of their store's entrance on a thin sidewalk, maneuvering through crap. Or continue your path and hoof it into the street and deal with oncoming drivers who aren't paying attention half the time. This place is a menace to society, I'm telling you. There's usually spots in the parking lot in front but it's a nightmare to pull in and out since it's on a busy street. Came in to look for men's clothing but they only had women's. Pretty cluttered so we couldn't find much of anything. The dishes looked dirty and the fancy wear was dusty. The people didn't seem to be happy to work here and in fact were closing early. We didn't know and arrived maybe 20 beforehand. Probably why they were so crabby. We didn't get anything since we couldn't find much but they weren't checking people out either since it was after the new closing time. read more

My sister and I decided to check out this cute unique little thrift store and it was exactly what I had anticipated. Their clothing items do seem overpriced but even then I believe their furniture and other items are very high end. I ended up buying two small antique-like items that were laid out on their tables (at 50% off for the holiday). There's tons of various styles of frames, paintings, china dish ware, etc but although it seems cluttered/widespread it's very organized in terms of goods. I loved it ! The woman behind the counter and her male assistant were both very hopeful and kind which just made the experience even better. I plan on returning in the years to come once I own a home . I stumbled across this place when I was trying to kill some time before meeting up with friends for dinner. There are so many clothes stuffed into this huge space and I found that it was a little difficult to navigate from rack to rack. I didn't have very much time to browse but the prices were pretty awesome. I found a long cashmere cardigan for my mom for only $3!!!!! I have to come back some day to really dig around. This place, oy. I've been a picker for 25 years. I know thrift stores. You have to be rich to shop here for furniture. They're having a 50% off sale this week so I took a stroll. Forget it. Even with half off the furniture is astronomical. And this one lady, been there for years, she's such a snobby elitist. She acts like she's working a in a high end showroom more than a dusty old thrift shop. Clothes? Sure. Can probably find some good stuff on a sale. Nick knacks? Yes, you can find stuff amidst the crap that sits on the tables that are chipped and never removed. Been like that for a decade. They need serious organizing. There were about 6 people there during the sale. A FIFTY PERCENT OFF SALE. There's a reason why that place is never busy and I just gave it to you. They had another BTS on Pico for a hot minute. Boy was that one amazing in quality, price, fairness and the geniality of the people working there. I mourn it to this day. For a long time this thrift flew under the radar of active thrifters. That changed about 5 years ago. BTS has since become more popular, but the quality of decor items leaves a lot to be desired. I've found many high end art glass pieces at BTS over the years, but now most of the home decor stuff is straight trash. I don't know if they just don't get the same quality of donations as they once did, or what, but my BTS thrift glory days are long gone. read more

Very awesome selection of vintage furniture, dishes, books and clothes! Have visited this location 2 times. Great furniture is featured out in front of the shop. 1st time I came, shop was not overcrowded. Today, (on a Sunday) the shop was extremely well stocked (read: walking around gingerly to avoid tipping stacks of dishes or other items over) and also full of other shoppers. I found some cute stuff here: vintage apron, some cool books, cookware, and a CD. The clothes selection was a little meh. Items are definitely pricier than you would expect from a thrift shop. BUT due to the quality of the items here... probably worth it. read more

This store has EVERYTHING! It is overwhelming, but they have literally everything your heart could desire. From glassware to a vast book selection to fur coats. If there is something you're looking for, you'll find it here. The staff is awesome. They are super friendly and ready to chat with you. The only downside (and this is a big one) is the parking. The store is located on an incredibly busy street and the parking spaces make you back out into the oncoming traffic. It's pretty dangerous. read more

Wow. Very unscrupulous. If you read the one star reviews, the manager responds by telling people that Yelpers who write good reviews get a deal. Low, low, low. Way to ruin a valuable service. Thanks. I used to like this store several years ago, and in fact I bought my husband a really wonderful desk here. There is newer management as of a couple years ago and the clothing racks are so crammed you can't see anything much less pull something out to look at it. The tables are stacked with junky odd pieces of china, glassware, bad faux silver, picture frames, broken knick knacks, stacked up so again you couldn't see anything if you wanted to, but it's so junky you don't really want to. People call them to empty house of people wh have passed on and what you see is the stuff that didn't sell at the estate sale. Not exactly choice stuff. Then, they price it like it is rare antique treasures, which is why the store is so crowded...junk at high prices! Nothing moves! You might find a piece of furniture you like, but the price is probably too high, and you will have to be awfully lucky. It mostly looks like what you would expect given the donors are all 100. I don't enjoy giving poor ratings, which is why I hadn't written a review here before. I came to Yelp looking for a worthy cause to donate a lot of great items because I am trying to have a sparse home, and when I saw the tacky, unscrupulous behavior of the manager, I decided to add my opinion. Complete gem! It's taken me some time to share this secret but BTS is such a special place. They have antiques from so many different cultural backgrounds & I find myself spending at least an hour in there when I stop in. I have gotten many beautiful pieces from them, furniture, vinyl records, crustal champagne glasses I could go on and on.. they also offer a points system and so on top of the sales they run a few times a month you also can incur extra money off which really makes it very cost effective. For the big furniture items they offer very reasonable delivery to your area. I've gotten same day delivery even! This is a high end resale shop I would say but there's plenty of things for all budgets! Parking: they have a few spots right up front and there is metered parking they are next door to a mechanic business so be sure not to block that business if you get one of the up front spots read more

I live in OC but actually learned about this thrift store while watching a show about interior design by Mr. Kate on Youtube. (She is awesome!!!) She comes to this thrift shop and shows on her channel so I wanted to come check it out! She said this is her favorite thrift store in LA. There is a huge inventory here! I didn't buy anything just because my style is more mid-century and most of the things in this thrift store are very vintage and classic. They were having a great sale while I was there. They seem to only welcome white customers. At least that was my experience with the blonde cashier that refused to acknowledge or talk to me, yet was super friendly with all the white customers. The clothing selection was dismal. The manager "Dan A" claims that the negative Yelp reviews are from "thrifty-dollar shoppers" and that they cater to "studios, designers, decorators, dealers, celebrities, and others who appreciate the finer things in life." This is one of the most pretentious thing I've ever heard, and from a thrift store manager. No Dan, it's also about customer service. And it matters if your cashiers are racist. read more

Holy cow. This place is amazing. I've been to too many thrift stores and none of them was as big and well organized as this place. This is one of those places where not only you'll find normal things thrift shops normally carry but you'll also find things you didn't think thrift shops offer. The staff is really friendly, helpful, and engaging. A lot of items do not have prices on them but (I believe) the owner will hook you up big time. Not only they have used items, they also have brand new items as well. This place is great for buying stuff for cosplay because they have so much stuff. I highly recommend this place. There were pink marks on the price tags so I thought maybe that meant they were half off...WRONG that means "they're worth more than what they're priced at". Stopped by this place during Ciclavia and wow I think it's the most expensive thrift store I have ever seen. Really expensive. Rug for $300, furniture for over $200, and lots of decoration trinkets all over $200. And it was really not inviting with all the signs everywhere like "smile your on camera", "you get a free pass to jail if you shoplift", "do not exchange your shoes or we will prosecute and ban you", etc. I understand maybe there's a need for it if things have happened but it's really anxietal to have that many signs. Otherwise this place seems to have a wide selection of decor and interesting trinkets and things. They have dressing rooms for clothes. I think it's great if this place gets sales and helps people with the money so five stars to them for that and working at place to make other people's lives better. But ya from a shopping perspective, I'm not a fan. read more

Wow, terribly shocked at the rude and disrespectful attitude shown by this stores management. My boyfriend and I stopped in to check out some wall art, as soon as we stepped in we were greeted with an abrupt "we are closing" by what appeared to be the manager on duty. We stated we just wanted to peak at the art which was met with "you have one minute" - mind you it was only 5:54pm and the stores posted hours say they close at 6pm. Another member of staff kindly said to us "you have 5 minutes, go ahead", the manager retorted "No, I said they have one minute" berating the associate openly while glaring in our direction. I have never felt so I welcomed and been treated so terribly in a retail establishment. We could hear the manager speaking about us and making clearly homophobic remarks towards us as we left the store. Do not take your business here, do not share on social media. And if you choose to shop here, beware the prices are outrageous for a secondhand shop. read more
