My rating is based solely on their Black Sesame Mochi Ball Bubble Waffle (what a tongue twister!)…read more I wasn't expecting it to be this good! The bubble waffle was light and slightly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and not overly sweet. The mochi balls had the perfect chewy texture, and each bite was filled with a rich burst of black sesame flavor. It was the perfect balance of textures and sweetness. Definitely worth ordering if you're a black sesame fan!

Every bubble is filled to the top with Portuguese egg custard and no tart crust! The making is a multi step process that is fascinating to watch. This is why they excel at their recipe. Others I have eaten included the dry crust in their waffles but little custard. I love the creamy custard contrasting with crispness of the waffle edges. This makes the waffle a truly Portuguese egg waffle. So morish and worth every creamy bite for about $9.50 incl GST. I'm always so so sorry when there are no bubbles left to savor. They offer durian cheese flavour for those who dare. I have tried their Tiramisu eggette which can give you a quite a caffeine buzz from the coffee custard but I always come back to my favourite, the Portuguese egg tart eggette. The staff are so efficient and well orchestrated making their waffles to order especially with so many different flavors they offer. I could see that they only use their own in house made Portuguese egg custard from the baking pan they scoop it out of for this flavor. There is a glass window where customers can watch their waffle making process. This little place appears very unassuming, has no seating and is strictly takeout. Its accessible from the street level below the Richmond Public Market which you can enter from the opposite open end of their stall. This place always has a line up for good reason. They offer exotic and traditional cold coffee and tea drinks too. Cash and cards accepted. This is my automatic go to for a sweet dessert snack.

We ordered the Mango Supreme which included mango puree, mango pudding and mango ice cream! It was so delicious and refreshing at the same time. Every sip contained an even mixture of each of the components. Heavenly. It was priced at $10.45 including tax. Not bad when the size of the cup was 20 Oz. The service was courteous and very efficient by the lone cashier. The ambiance in the Cafe was quiet with some pop music playing at a low volume. There are about 8 sets of cafe seating for customers, the room was bright with a nice air flow coming in from the open doors at the parking lot entrance and the outside door. This shop is one of many located underneath Superstore parkade on #3 road. This is a hidden cafe that provides a lovely tropical retreat. Don't miss it.

The batter didn't have that typical eggy fragrant smell or taste either. The black sesame flavour was quite lacking as well. I think they need to toast the black sesame first before adding it to their batter. It was so mediocre I only had 2 pieces. I remember their egg waffles being so good, hot and crispy many years ago. No wonder the shop is always empty now whenever I pass by. Their drink prices have gone up, too. For drinks, there's so many other better options in Richmond, and they all cost the same price so don't waste your money here. Also, they no longer have a public washroom. The sign says out of service but I am pretty sure the staff use it themselves. I understand why they'd do this although I don't know if it follows the rules for cafes. I would recommend Eggette House for egg waffles instead. Definitely won't be coming back.

The walls are decorated with pictures from Europe and the teacups are very "British." Besides scone and tea, you can get regular food here as well such as fries, salt & pepper chicken, and radish cake to name just a few. You can also get cold drinks like juice & bubble tea, and bubble tea drinks here too. So...not your typical British style Afternoon Tea joint. Kind of half restaurant, half tea place. My friend had a pot of Leisure Fresh Fruit tea and a scone. We'd already had lunch a bit earlier and while my friend had room for a scone, I had zero room in my stomach for any food so I just had a pot of Longan Red Date tea. It was a cold day so a pot of hot tea really hit the spot. I thought it a bit pricy at first, but when the tea came, I saw that the teabags were Fortnum & Mason teabags. That is a very a prestigious company from all the way over in England. When I realized we were drinking Fortnum & Mason tea, all of a sudden $10.25 didn't seem so extravagant any more. My friend said her scone seemed like more of a biscuit than a scone. It came with butter and jam. I think she wished there had been some clotted cream to go with it. I can't say too much about the food as I only had one pot of tea but I was impressed that it was Fortnum & Mason tea, and I very much enjoyed the flavor of the Longan & Red Dates in my tea.
