Used to be a must stop but the taste is not the same. With so similar competitive shops around, this once pioneer for bubble waffle has lost it's chewy destination desire. Squid tentacles overly battered. Egg waffle so-so. Took a longer time than usual to receive our food order.
=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE Another location of the chain restaurant - decent and they quietly take credit/debit cards to boot in the food court (much of which is cash only). === 2. FOOD On this visit, I enjoyed: - Angus Beef Dry Noodle ($10.50 incl. drink): almost as if someone souped up a bunch of instant noodles with thin strips of beef and corn, topped with parsley. This and your choice of drink (large) work out well. - Bubble Waffle ($1.50 when a meal is purchased): decent and cheap for the price! - Curry Fish Balls (eight for $3.50 when a meal is purchased): nothing to write home about - but good side to your order! === 3. SERVICE Thankfully, things are fully understood in English; Cantonese and Mandarin can often be heard and used. The ordering process works out decently well; the food service is a little slow, especially if you order a bubble waffle (they can run out of such too later in the day). === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's a stall in a food court which is modern enough (though it hasn't changed since Aberdeen Centre opened). The seating area is expansive yet often full - a great, open place to eat with high ceilings, plenty of natural light from the large windows, and able to fit small to large groups. Wheelchairs and baby strollers fit just fine, as will your car in the centre's large parkade.
I think I must've showed up on a bad day. I walked in to get some salty snack and HK Rice Roll was it. $7.95 seemed like a good deal and the picture looked really good. Don't get fooled by photos! It was surprisingly big. Soysauce and sesame smelled quite good in the beginning. As I ate more of rice rolls and fish balls it was so salty. Flavours were overpowering because curry was mixed with soysauce and sesame sauce. This snack made me feel quite thirsty. Sorry Bubble Waffle, I ended up trashing half of my food in the food bin. Staff was nice, but nothing memorable on food. I've also ordered noodle combos here back in Xmas. Their noodles were loaded with cabbages and noodles. Anyways, I can only give 2 stars for BW.
I really do love Bubble Waffle cafe as a chain. For what you pay, you get a lot. I remember I was overjoyed when they opened a branch at UBC. When we came here today (Sunday) to buy a waffle cake and also redeem our stamp card of bubble waffle, we were hit with "we don't do redemptions on Saturday/Sunday". We asked where they stated this policy. They replied "personal policy". That seems like a pretty arbitrary rule to state, with no backing. This was not something we were made aware of while collecting our bubble waffle stamps. Either way, pretty disappointed. I understand should the shop have been super busy, but they had maybe 4 people waiting for their order.
Located in the Aberdeen Centre food court on the third floor. This place seems to be a Hong Kong style place. We got their bubble waffle which are waffles filled with stuff. Oreo was satisfying. On the fence if id get again. What looked worth trying in the future is their food. Various HK style dishes plus a drink - milk tea, ovaltine, and Horlicks - hot or cold along with other selections.

Came here to eat at Bubble Waffle per my friend's recommendation, and decided to go for the following items: Oreo Flavored Egg Waffle, mixed rice cake with siu mai and fish balls, and dried ramen noodle with cheese topping. I absolutely loved the rice cake with siu mai (cheung fun lo) since it reminded me of Hong Kong's irreplaceable street food. The egg waffles were also very soft and moist, completely on a different level when compared to the ones I have in Los Angeles (they're hard and dry). Slightly disappointing though was the dry pan-fry ramen with melted cheese. Maybe it's a good thing they didn't use enough oil, but the ramen stuck to each other and were hard to separate, and the cheese made it very salty as well. All in all, this was a very satisfying meal that made me reminisce Hong Kong. They have a stamp card for those who are decently local (not me unfortunately). The only thing to complain about was their slightly longer wait time; I was expecting faster service since it's a food court, but nonetheless they took the time to prepared some pretty great food!
At the Aberdeen Mall food court, Bubble Waffle is one of our regular shops. Hubby always chooses a noodle dish, which comes with a milk tea (included for free), and add the $1.50 original flavor bubble waffle, discounted when buying a noodle or rice dish also. The noodle dishes are all less than $10. The noodle soups are bigger portions, while the stir-fry noodles only fill the bowl halfway, which looks a tad skimpy. The milk tea is quite filled with ice. The bubble waffle was very tasty and crunchy this time. The vanilla (original) flavor is made continuously to decrease the wait time. At a bad timing, you can end up with a lukewarm and less crunchy bubble waffle. Even so, I find this trio combo to be a very good deal. If you are not ordering a combo, get a different flavor and you won't end up with a cold one. This time we ordered the Mongolian lamb noodles (4 stars), the Hong Kong style fish sui mei (5 stars), and the stinky tofu (3 stars; I've had better).
I collected the bubble wave stamps and finally so happy I can get one free bubble waffle but they told me they are busy no redeem!! There was no lined up and about 4-5 people were waiting for their food. But anyhow, how could they not let customers redeem the waffle! I never see any other place has this kind of responds! I'll never go there again!
I had the fried intestine and fish siu mai. As a Hong Kong girl, the taste was pretty authentic to me. The fish siu mai is the same as the ones I would get at the Hong Kong 7-eleven. I also like the sauce that came with the fried intestine. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for some authentic Hong Kong snacks.
I was so excited to go into the Aberdeen food court and try all the various Hong Kong street food. My first stop was at Bubble Waffle. I had a tremendous tasting experience 7 years ago and was hoping to be able to replicate it. Unfortunately, the bubble waffle was too soft. I thought maybe they just had a bad day and were too busy so I went again the next day and the bubble waffle came out the same. So sad..... I also ordered the curry fish balls which were very bouncy and chewy when you bite into it which was awesome. But, they failed to give enough curry for me to lather the fish balls in the sauce. It seems like the quality of the food here has gone down dramatically.
The 1st time I came here, I just ordered a bubble waffle and Korean twist potato. They were both disappointingly not hot, so I assume they are not made to order. I do not recommend either, but if you are ordering a soup noodle entrée, it's only $1 to add-on a bubble waffle, so that would be the best time to try one. The soup noodles are a decent size. They use round rice noodles, and the chicken broth was flavorful. It comes with a free drink, which makes this a great deal. (It's usually $2 for a drink a la carte, which is still cheaper than its neighboring stalls, especially if you want it cold.) Another bonus is that they stayed open, still taking orders on a Sunday evening almost an hour after the mall "closes."
Out of all the food court vendors at Aberdeen, I think Bubble Waffle gives you the most for your buck. They've increased the prices now. For ex., my usual mix and match noodle plus a cold drink now costs $8.88+ tax. However, you can order online in advance and save 10%. If you've ever stop by this place, you'll see how crazy the line can be at times. Ordering online can save you some wait time. Today, I had my usual noodle with pepper pickled fish soup base plus an iced milk tea. Even though I submitted an online order, I had to wait close to 40 minutes for my order. I tried it with instant noodles today and I didn't like it. The noodle itself was very plain and too soft. I really like the soup base though and I order it every time after having tried all other flavours. Overall, if you are interested in the typical hong Kong fish soup noodle, you should give this a try. I should also note that different locations charge different prices.
I'd come back just for the egg waffle. Slightly crunchy but still good amount of chewiness/bounciness. Perfect as a light dessert after a meal
They have a special for the five spiced beef noodle soup with free drinks for $12.95 and for $1.50 more for the bubble waffle. It was pretty good overall and satisfied the hunger. Cute Asian mall with a huge food court in 3rd floor. read more
4.5 stars but rounding up because the bubble waffles have the perfect texture - a great balance of chewy and crunchy, freshly made. I have not had bubble waffles for a long time and this really satisfied my cravings. For 4.75CAD each, this is a decent price for good dessert. Wait was on the longer side - it took 30+ minutes from queueing to ordering to getting the bubble waffle itself, but I do not mind it at all since they were freshly made to order. -0.5 for the fact that they ONLY had original bubble waffles as I was looking forward to all the other available flavors like cheese and Oreo, but I guess it is fine for now because if they cannot do original properly, will the other variants even be good? read more

I wish Bubble Waffle existed in the US!!!! This place is like a treasure box of Southeastern dishes and desserts!! They offer a variety of selections from Singaporean laksa to HK rice roll to shu mai to milk tea to egg waffles to different types of noodle soup and more. We ordered the Hong Kong Rice paper roll with fish balls and shu mai + Dessert Waffle w/ Peanut butter and Condensed Milk. It was so good that my soul shed a tear. Not sure I can really say more about it. For a "fast food" place, Bubble Waffle offers a substantial selection of foods and good portions, all at a great price. My favoruite go-to noodle soup shop. I love their noodle combos, and it comes with a variety of toppings and a cold drink! Their service style is very quick and fast pace since they're super busy all the time. No need for formalities. You also don't need to speak Chinese to order! They also have a "create your own noodle bowl" sheet you can fill out to customize your own noodle soup. This allows your noodle soup options to be endless!! Note that they pre-make the bubble waffles ahead of time. It's for this reason that I don't usually order their bubble waffle for the combo, because once I receive my food, it's already cold and soggy since it's been sitting out for so long. In other words, go here for the noodles, not the bubble waffle! My favourite combo is the pork noodle soup combo with either laksa or fish soup! read more
Decent place for home-style cooking, and of course their namesake. Parking is available in that horrendous Aberdeen parking lot. The soup noodle I had was tasty and simple. Plenty of vegetables. Tastes like something my mother would make. Hits the spot. The bubble waffles here are quite delicious. Not mind-blowing good, but definitely one of the best in town. (I also like the ones at Bubble Queen) The best part though is that they're only $1 on top of a meal combo. Sold. They do have other Hong Kong style dishes as well. Looks like I'll have to come back a few more times to clean out the place. read more

I think it goes to show just how good this place is due to the fact that my family frequented this place more than five times in our one week vacation to Vancouver. This Bubble Waffle is located in the third floor food court of Aberdeen, and is usually crowded with lots of people. They have a few specials - if you buy a bowl of noodles, you get to add on an original bubble waffle for $1, a drink for $1.50, and siu mai for $2.00. I think I had about four or five rice noodle bowls from here, and most of them were delicious. My favorite is the watercress fish soup with rice noodle with beef slices and beef balls. The soup is incredibly sweet, and along with everything in the bowl, super fulfilling. I have also tried the tomato and pumpkin soup, fish soup by itself, hot and sour soup, and the thousand year old egg soup. All of them were good except the hot and sour soup. I expected it to be like the normal soup I drink at Chinese restaurants, but this soup was just really spicy. They have other soup flavors, but I recommend sticking to the more pure ones if you don't like eating noodles where you can't taste the flavor. As for the ingredients in the soup, there are so many to choose from. I like how the papers are pre-printed. You check off what ingredients you want, etc and they type it into the machine. A two item noodle is $5.25, three items is $6 something, and there is also four items is about seven fifty. Their siu mai and curry fish balls were decent, but nothing special. I did like their lemon iced tea and their iced milk tea. Very tasty and reminiscent of Hong Kong. And their bubble waffle (what they are named for) ... incredible! There are no restaurants in Los Angeles that have these HK egg waffles that can compare to Bubble Waffle. We ate more than ten bags of the original flavored egg waffles. They were fresh, very tasty and just the right amount of crispiness and softness. We came here one night at 7:15, after closing time, and they still were nice enough to serve us! They have stamp cards, as well. Spend more than $5, get one stamp. If you have five stamps collected, you can trade it in for a free egg waffle. I really wish there was a bubble waffle back here in LA. Very sad I won't be eating this anymore. :( read more
We didn't get the namesake bubble waffle, which seemed to be premade and sitting around for a while. The way they try to foist it on people was suspicious. Instead, we waited for the freshly made cake waffle. It was guilty delicious with the condensed milk and peanut butter. I love the Hong Kong rice rolls (how did they manage roll it into perfect rounds?) with chewy seafood balls. Be sure to get it with the peanut sauce. The stinky tofu was ok; the sauce on top could've been better. Overall, the food here were simplistic and tasty - like something you'd make at home and be proud of it. read more
I saw a line up here so decided to try it out. For an extra $1 you can get egg waffles with your noodles, and another extra $0.60 you can get a cold drink. For the price, the food is okay. It was nice to have waffles to snack on after spending an hour at Daiso (in the same mall) lol. Sorry for the mess in the photos, i almost dropped my tray lol. read more

Bubble Waffle Café in the Aberdeen Centre food court. Got their Angus Beef Dry Noodle for $9.58 plus tax. My minimum expectation was a semi-acceptable Angus beef meal. Not a chance. Container was about 1/2 full. Don't know if I got real Angus beef, but for sure I got 95% fat... maybe Angus beef fat? Also bought their bubble waffle. Cook must be on vacation & the custodian took over? Real bubble waffle should be temperature hot, crispy-like on outside and soft on inside. What I got was warm, tasteless, consistent doughy texture throughout. I threw most of food away. Walked away hungry and totally ripped off !!! read more
We do take out from bubble waffle once a week. It's my kiddo's favourite coz she loves udon. The deal is so good with drink and a little treat of bubble waffle. And what I like the most is you actually get a good balanced diet with lots of veggies! Lately I am trying to eat less carb and good luck doing that when the rest of the family wants Chinese food take out. Lucky that here you can opt for veggies instead of noodle. And they indeed pack your bowl with veggie like the one in the pic! Feels much better doing this take out that other Chinese place. And the portion is good. I often let my kiddo eat half of it and pack the other half for her next day lunch. Convenient! Don't forget to order ahead online to save time! read more
We actually came to this place twice on our 3 day trip in Vancouver. It's just want you need after a day of exploring and hiking around. They actually serve noodle soups, rice plates, and so much more! Not just bubble waffles as the name implies haha This place is great for a quick, cheap and easy meal. Very simple to order. You can either order with the cashier or mark your order down on the paper slips they have on the table. Either way, you still need to wait in line. The best part is that most of the meal options comes with your choice of drink (+$1 more gets you a bubble waffle)! What a deal. With all the other food stalls and options to choose from, this was a pleasant surprise read more
Lame lame. Bubble waffle used to be great. Something happened. They are filling their drinks with mostly ice. The waffle is too over cooked. They cut when you can use the punchcard. No wonder there wasn't a line. Need to find a new waffle place... read more

* Bubblicious * A good bubble waffle offering. The outside was crispy, the centre just a bit soft and chewy like I like it. They had nice vanilla overtones. My only "beef" is that they were pre-made so they were not as hot as I normally prefer them. I ordered, they handed me the bag with the bubble waffles squished into it. They were warm, but not hot. But the taste profile was good, and I imagine next time I return (and I likely will), I will simply ask for fresh made instead of pre-made and then be much happier. OH BABY. These egg waffles are where it's at! I figured it's nearly impossible to come across authentic egg waffles, or "gai daan jai", here in the US. So, falling short of actually traveling to Hong Kong (where I first experienced these golden bubble sheets of fun deliciousness), I ventured across the border to satisfy my egg waffle fix. Gai daan jai is essentially a golden cake of miniature egg-shaped balls attached to each other like a piece of oversized bubble wrap. Despite a massive lunch, I couldn't resist the sweet scent of egg batter radiating from Bubble Waffle. This small stand is located in a crowded food court in Aberdeen Centre. After impatiently waiting in line for some time (this place is busy busy), I reached the register and ordered the Egg Waffle Original. No fancy flavors or toppings, I wanted to taste the original in all of its glory and simplicity. Next, more waiting as I watched the employees pour batter into an assembly line of iron pans. Finally, after nearly 20 minutes of waiting, my gai daan jai was ready! The texture was perfect -- crunchy around the edges with soft oval eggs. The innards remained light and fluffy but the shell was brittle. So crisp and flaky, soft and fluffy, delightful and addictive. The taste was spot-on with waves of vanilla essence. Yum! I didn't have a chance to sample the other items at Bubble Waffle but I'm sold on their gai daan jai's. I mean, it's in their name so obviously this is their star player. Note: Despite having "waffle" in the name, it's not eaten for breakfast. Weird, huh? read more

If you're a waffle connoisseur, then pls come here. And not those silly flavours like Oreo lol. To me, the original is the best. Much crispier yet moist inside than nite market quality. The noodles soup just alright, ham is like spam but the fish pieces sure is bountiful. Great value for under $10. Pretty fast despite the lineups. Cleanliness wise, I like 'em, a few workers wearing gloves. And one of the few to accept debit credit at this food court. read more

Bubble Waffle Cafe is the hybrid offspring of Deer Garden, Teppan Kitchen and Night Market. What you're thinking, exactly that! The noodle soup menu ($7.50) looks devilishly similar to Deer Garden, with the choice of soup, noodles, ingredients and drink. I usually choose the Original Fish Soup (a little more watery than I'd like), rice noodles (more soggy than I'd like), beef brisket (soft and tender) and enoki mushrooms with a lemon tea (they put it in a take-away cup so you can leave with it if you don't finish). My boyfriend had the beef teppanyaki rice dish (~$8), the rice was a little too soft and didn't have that caramelized burn I'm used to. I have to say the Bubble Waffle (Free with a purchase over $15 during the Grand Opening) was really good. The batter was sweet and chewy, the waffle was crisp on the outside but soft and warm on the inside. YUM! I wanted to try out the tornado potato (a potato sliced and curled around a stick, deep-fried then covered in your choice of powder/sauce), steamed rice rolls (covered in a sweet sauce, sesame and soy sauce), curry fish balls, takoyaki, fried squid, etc... Another time dear stomach. Finally, this is a very small restaurant so be prepared to sit at less than an arms width away from some strangers, so don't go spilling that juicy gossip just yet. Overall, friendly service and a good place if you're craving the parent foods named above but with a slight dash of imitation. Huge selection of random food items. From the recent trendy noodles with 2 toppings and soup to bbt to the large variety of night market style snacks (ex curry fishballs, hurricane potatoes). Current promotion. Order $15 or more and get FREE bubble waffles!!! Food was good. Service is like your typical Honger cafe grade. Will definitely be back again. The original bubble waffles here are generally really good. Just lacks the "served hot" factor seeing how the bubble waffles are pre made... So they tend to be a bit cold. The curry fish balls also pack quite the nice punch, but I feel like it just lacks a bit of sweetness that I tend to enjoy with my curry fish balls. Overall, not a bad place to grab a quick snack. I haven't tried any of their lunch menu items yet, but everything is really reasonably priced for Richmond. read more
