To go, or not to go? That was the question my friend and I asked each other about Bubbles the few times we were checking out Morgan Hill over summer. The first visit was mainly sight seeing and walking around, and on the second we were full from lunch, so of course we went wine tasting at one of the wineries before heading back to San Jose. Third time was the charm! On our third visit, we came down specifically to go wine tasting at more of the wineries, and we hadn't eaten lunch so it was a perfect opportunity to check out Bubbles. Since we came for wine tasting, we ordered a sample flight of pinot noir. They were all surprisingly full-bodied, for what we thought was just a little bar on the side of the road. I love the menu here. Every option interested me, especially all of the crostinis. We went with the Italian order, and swore that if we ever return, we'd try two more. The food was the perfect amount of snack for two people, but it could also serve as a meal for one person. The flavors were also surprisingly bold! Maybe it's insulting to use "surprisingly" twice, but heck, I was totally surprised. I really hope I'll have a chance to return soon! read more

My bf and I came on a Friday, which is one of the days there's supposed to be live music, but there wasn't any. This place is nice to hang out with friends and have a couple of drinks, good laughs, but it's definitely not a sit down and eat lunch/dinner place for me. The food was mediocre and pricey for what it was. Much of the dishes sounded fancier than they were. They photographed very well though lol. People have claimed there's a puppy menu, but there's just one item on it from what I saw. The service was pretty good until we had to pay. It took a little long to get someone's attention to ask for the check. I guess after you receive your entree, they sort of leave you alone, which is good and meh. I ordered the Rose Froze for a drink, and it was good. It looks better than it tastes. I wish it had a little more of the fruit flavor/syrup (see picture), but it really just tasted like frozen rose. As appetizers or shareable plates, my bf and I got the pretzel and roast beef sliders. I don't love salted pretzels, so my bf ate it. He said it was mediocre. The roast beef sliders look VERY underwhelming, but they tasted pretty good. There was not much in them besides the meat and sauce. The sliders came with potato chips. As my entree, I ordered the shrimp-stuffed avocado salad. 4/10 would not order again. If you're in Morgan Hill you have to make a stop at Bubbles! We visited after a recommendation from several friends and I can't believe it has taken us so long to get to this place for a drink and apps! We had a few flat breads (prosciutto and pulled pork), pretzel and the Brie crostini to share among 4 people. It was a perfect amount of food although it was all so good that I think I could have eaten it all myself! The wine list is also fabulous! It was just alright. The Charcuterie board was good. The pretzel was like the frozen ones I get at the grocery store that you bake... The pulled pork slider was super salty, my date said. We ordered the Ahi Tuna Tower. It was so incredibly fishy. It was not edible. I let them know, kindly, but we were still charged for it. Very disappointing. My family and I came in from Phoenix and we were starving and called ahead to see if we could order food within 30 of closing - not something I like to do - and the gentlemen working had our food ready as we walked in the door. I really love the ambiance of Bubbles. It's a great spot for people watching, good food and music and generally my experiences here are pretty good (and so are the small bites). However, I docked a star because when my fiancé, a friend and I were there on Saturday night (arriving close to 8pm), the staff literally turned off the lights on us more than 30mins prior to closing. Another table in addition to ours were out on the front patio (we were last two tables of the evening). We had finished paying the check at about 9:15 but had just ordered our last glass of wine at that time and were enjoying the evening knowing they close at 10. Just before 9:30, the server came out to collect nearly everything off of our table (we got the hint and so did the other table, but again we were still finishing our wine). A few minutes later, they turned off all the patio lighting other than the low light string lighting across the fencing and the interior lighting. We were surprised at the aggressive behavior to hurry up and exit and ended up leaving. I'll be back, but hopefully for a better experience that doesn't have staff pushing folks out the door more than 30min prior to closing. read more

I really wanted to like this place. The location is conveniently in the heart of downtown Morgan Hill, the space is pretty small, howbeit cozy, and the restrooms were clean. Our server was attentive, and the service was pretty average for a wine bar. Now the reason I'm only giving this place 3 stars is because of the actual quality and portion size of the wine and charcuterie plate that we ordered. I can't speak for their entire menu, but we ordered the Sparkling Wines Old World and New World flight, the Charcuterie plate, and the Champagne Cocktail. Now I am an avid white wine kinda girl, and I know quality when I taste it. The wine flight was disappointing at best. It did not taste crisp nor was the serving size to my liking, but that is just my personal preference. The Champagne Cocktail was decent, but nothing too special. Now for the worst part of it all, the charcuterie plate was the most disappointing of all. The meats did not taste fresh and were overly salty and rubbery. It reminded me of a luncheon-to-go pack that I bought once, because I was starving and it was the only food available. We haven't been back here in a while. Been watching the signs as I drive home from work and reading their emails about their Beer Garden and it's finally open! I love the ambiance of their interior Wine Bar, very classy & bistro-like. I always love coming here. As for my partner-in-crime, he enjoys a nice cold glass of craft beer. They now have an entire beer garden, ready to serve! Lots of craft beer on tap, too! Bubbles has turned their parking lot area into an inviting outdoor lounge area, fully equipped with games like cornhulio & ladder ball. They have a walk-up bar to order your drinks & food. I can totally see this as a new, up&coming hang out spot for so many locals and visitors to this area. This is a great addition to our growing Morgan Hill local business. LOVE IT ! read more

I went inside and asked if we can order or at least get water and she said she needs to help this other table first. 15 minutes later (25 mins after we sat down) she finally came over and took our drink orders. There were probably 5 tables taken in the whole place so I was confused on how it took 30 minutes to get water. We got our food about 20 mins later which is normal, but we didn't start getting refills until after we got our food, probably because another waitress started working. What a lovely spot for a drink and a snack in Morgan Hill! I received great service here. All the servers were friendly and helpful without giving off an obnoxious up-sell vibe as sometimes happens. They have a dedicated parking lot! There's also street parking on two sides. Nice. The ambiance is very nice and cozy. The wine vault is pretty neat. Converted space used to be a bank presumably. The wines here are delicious. They have a really nice selection. They offer carry out price discounts for any bottles you buy from them after your meal. I tried their flight, and was surprised by their generous pours. I felt quite satisfied with the quality vs price, something I feel everyone is sensitive to these days. We come here every couple of weeks to get our dog a pup cake when we go out to dinner. The first time we ever got the bowl it had loads of veggies and chicken. Every time after, it was a hit or miss. This past weekend, we got a pup cake for our dog, which was $6.50 and it came with what looked like leftovers from someone's salad. Tiny bits of chicken and crumbs of broccoli. This is very late review but I wanted to take the time and emphasize how wonderful our experiences have always been! This was our meeting spot when my and husband and I were dating 2 years back and we have loved it even with all the changes that have come in the last few years, it's still a great spot for us . First off they are a self seating restaurant and that can be confusing as you enter but they have the sign in the front with the specials and it is occasionally written there which helps :) They offer a wide range of options in terms of wine, charcuterie, and tapas style food. We haven't had the 3 course meal but I recently saw it as we entered so something we may check out. And now they have the beer garden which is also something we still need to check out on a warmer day A lot of people feel the service is slow.. sometimes it can be as they do get super busy fridays through the weekend but for the most part they are attentive and if you just make eye contact, they come right away. Servers have always been nice and usually know the menu well....Have given us great recommendations. Some of my favorites has been the sangria (moscato and white wine with berries), the beach Bellini for sweeter options as well as the red wine flights which change periodically. We always do the Fox trot cheese board which comes with nuts and crackers. The pulled pork sliders and crostini's are also delicious. We drive or walk by this place often, but only visited only once in the past. We were walking into downtown Morgan hill, headed to MOHI, but noticed that Bubbles had a band called Undercover playing good music in their enclosed back parking lot or what they falsely claim as a beer garden, so we sat down. We ordered their Meritage. The waitress didn't know who made it, but said it might come from San Martin. Since we live in San Martin we ordered it anyways. It actually tasted good. On the menu they listed Italian meatballs and bruschetta @ $19.50, so we ordered it. Generally when you order bruchetta, anywhere else you get a grilled bread rubbed with garlic and topped with olive oil and salt. Variations may include toppings of tomato, vegetables, beans, cured meat, or cheese. In Italy, bruschetta is often prepared using a brustolina. Every other restaurant in MH offers this and all are very good at much lower prices than Bubbles. Contrary to the picture on their website, Bubble's version of bruschetta we were served consisted of small soggy under cooked cheap pizza dough slices with small sparse bits of tomato sprinkled with sparse tiny bits of what they call sausages. There are no meatballs unless you call the tiny bits of grey matter sprinkled on the tiny pizza slice. The menu description is clearly a case of false advertising. To add insult to injury, they also don't serve water like every other restaurant in MH does, but you can buy Costco bottled water for I believe $2, which is not listed on the menu. Seriously? To top it off, even though they have a door going out to the former bank parking lot , what they call beer garden, to use the bathroom, they make you walk all of the way around the building to get back to your table. Total remorse. Besides the music being good it's all over priced fake food at Bubbles. Sorry, but this was a one and done experience. There are far more and better places in HH that provide much better quality food at much better prices. I'll give it two stars and that's generous. read more

We had such a good time here last Friday night. We sat near the outdoor patio at this cozy little table. The ambiance is warm and inviting. I surely enjoyed the watermelon drink that I ordered. But at this time, 3 stars is about what I can give Bubbles. It is a solid wine bar but nothing more. I cannot say I'm a fan nor that it is outstanding either. So A-Ok it is. The interior of the location has been nicely updated with the only hint of its former bank the vault that holds the shops wine. Like most wine bars you can order by the glass or by the flight. also, you can choose one of the bottles in the vault and have the wine by the glass with a minimum of two glasses. What underwhelmed me frankly was both the wine selection and the cheese selection. The glass and flight offerings, especially with an awesome name like Bubbles are fairly pedestrian. I was disappointed in the Champagne flight although to be fair the bottle menu is substantially better. And if you have read my reviews you know wine temperature matters and both times I have reds here they were at room temperature when they should be a few degrees cooler. The cheese selection, given the unique cheeses that are available out there, is also mediocre. A wide selection of cheeses easily found at your local Trader Joe's. OC Wine Mart in Irvine has far more unique cheeses from artisan cheese makers. Service was solid if not overly friendly or chatty. I'd give that a solid rating when outstanding, especially for the prices, is what should be delivered too. Finally, local wine choices are decent but some of my favorites like Jason Stephens and Aver were not on the menu yet mediocre offerings from The Winery That Shall Not Be Named were. I know this is a newer establishment but the buyers here need to step up their game and make this the destination it has the potential to be. I have not tried their food choices and maybe that will help increase their rating in the future. I will continue to visit Bubbles...maybe not as much as expected when I first started working in Morgan Hill...and hopefully they will find their stride and become as successful as their other restaurant. read more

This weekend my wife and I decided to check out Bubbles after they added a beer garden to their establishment. As huge Running Shop & Hops fans, we wanted to check out their offerings. When we arrived I mentioned the beer garden and was quickly pointed to sit either inside the bar or out front. We were never given the opportunity to check out the garden. Once we sat out front, we were presented with menus. When I asked if they had any pilsners, is when I was given their beer menu. The prices appear to be a little higher than the Running Shop and obviously, the selection is a lot smaller. I ordered a pilsner and my wife ordered a flight of Pinot Noir. As for food, this is where our experience took a turn for the worst. I ordered a pretzel and cheese and my wife ordered the strawberry and brie crostini. No kidding, it took 15-20 minutes to get the pretzel and another 15-20 minutes to get the crostini. By the time the crostini arrived, I was already done with the pretzel. When I asked why the crostini was taken so much more time than the pretzel I was told that the pretzel cooks faster. NOTE TO THE COOK: DON'T FIRE THE PRETZEL UNTIL THE OTHER ITEMS ARE ALMOST DONE! Nobody wants to eat alone. Also, all crostinis are, are pieces of bread with melted brie and a slice of strawberry on top. It shouldn't take 30 to 35 minutes to prepare. All in all, our visit was very disappointing. The service was poor, the food took F-O-R-E-V-E-R and beer aspect feels like an afterthought. It's too bad because we were thinking of hosting a birthday there since they offer both beer and wine. read more

Came to this place for a Tuesday evening cocktail and to hear live music. The beer was great and there was a magnificent selection. We ordered a pretzel to share and it was so delicious. I am a big fan of cheese, bread, and wine, so Bubbles Wine Bar appeared on my radar. They have their own little vineyard out in front of the restaurant - it's really cute! My first impression walking into the wine bar is that it's semi-formal and intimate, perfect for romantic dates. There is actually not a lot of seating, so it makes the place more intimate. I love how there is a walk-in cellar with a large metal door! When restaurants have distinctive touches like that, it draws me in. The decor is crisp, neat, and modern. There is a small candle on each table, which makes it seem more of a high end place. I appreciate the good lighting of the restaurant and there is some patio seating. Since I was with my mom, I got the pre fixe dinner for two, which featured five courses for $60. You get $5 off a bottle of wine along with the deal. There were four appetizer like dishes, finishing off with dessert. The first course was cheese, fruit, and baked bread, which were great to nibble on with a bottle of California wine. Then came the bruschetta with a soft, creamy ball of mozzarella cheese and a generous amount of arugula. My favorite was the third course: shrimp with melted cheese, on top of bread. The fourth course was quite heavy because there were several pieces of prosciutto flatbread, which were made pizza-style. The flatbread pieces had melted cheese and prosciutto bits were sprinkled on top. Last but not least, the dessert was to die for! The apple caramel cake was warm and steamy, making it a heavenly match with vanilla ice cream. I 100% recommend the set dinner for two! This was my third time at Bubbles. I always seem to find myself here after a stressful week at work! It was a Friday and it just so happened to be happy hour! $5 white and red wine, beer, and selected appetizers. I had the Cabernet from paso Robles, the pork and bratwurst sliders. These came with a side of chips and a slice of pickle. We also ordered the Brie crostini. My friend had the beet and goat cheese arugula salad. If you like arugula go for it. Everything was spectacular. The owner, David, walked around and e said hello to my friend and I. We work in education and we talked about how great Bubbles is to decompress with great wine and food! What made me smile was when David said, "you can bubble your troubles away." Definitely will be coming back! read more
