I am a bubble tea connoisseur like the texture and taste of each black jelly pearl is so important and the tea itself needs to be smooth and delightful without bitterness or any glimpse of artificial mix. This place definitely hit the mark. They get plenty of variety between available flavors and optional add-in toppings. We ordered a regular black milk tea with boba, less sugar, less ice and an Irish cream milk tea, half sugar, no boba. Yep, I am pretty annoying when it comes with my bubble tea order. They were both pretty good, expect the Irish cream was a little bit overly sweet to me, though they've already cut down the sugar to 50%. This is a great little bubble tea joint that is tucked away in the city of Rockville. I would have never heard or found this place had I not been invited by my friend to meet up and try it. I really like how they have some very unique flavor like hazelnut milk tea, mint milk tea, and the honeydew milk tea that I don't find among the Taiwanese style bubble tea places. So needless to say I gave the honeydew with 75% sugar one a try, and I liked it quite a bit! I say if I didn't ask for 75% or less it would be too sweet, but at that sugar level it's just the right amount of sweetness without overshadowing the honeydew flavor itself! Me likey this place. I would go between here and Kung Fu Tea. I do have to say though, their bubble teas are much sweeter than the other places around here. I made the mistake of getting regular 100% sugar with all four of my black milk teas I had ordered and all 4 of us could agree that although good, it was wayyyyy too sweet. I now get it at 75% sweet and it tastes perfect！ Spot is cute, much smaller than say Kung Fu Tea, Tea-Do, and Lab Cafe though. It's located to the left of A&J. Impressed and surprised! We're Kung Fu Tea devotes but must say flavor and freshness here seem better than that at Kung Fu Tea. More refreshing. Perfectly sweetened. They ground fresh passion fruit into the passion fruit slush and fresh taro into the Taro milk tea! (I believe KFTea uses only powder.) The black milk tea was smooth, not bitter at all. Only thing that falls short of perfect is that the bubbles were a bit soft and slimier. Over all, I'd pick this over KFT. A plus is the A&J's literally steps away, sharing the same building. If you want authentic tradition Taiwanese bubble tea? This will be the place!!!!! Unlike other bubble tea places... here uses REAL taro in their taro milk, usually at other places they would use purple artificial taro powder, at bubbles&tea the taro milk tea is not purple it's actually white with taro chunks inside, their menu also have much more unique flavors such as caramel sea salt, tiramisu, lavender, rose, and frosted mint!!! They even have a variety of toppings such as rainbow bubbles. One of my favorite feature they have that is different from other tea places is that you can adjust your sugar and ice level which is really cool, before teado and kung fu tea would be my go to place for bubble tea but I've transferred to bubbles&tea, their tea taste "real" if that make sense, also the service is A1!!!! My favorite milk tea place in Rockville and I've tried all of them, such as kung fu tea, tea-do, snowbots, bubble tea cafe, etc... I like them for their unique flavors such as sea salt caramel, and tiramisu. Make sure to have it less sweet when getting such flavors, I usually get it at 50% and I usually stick with 100% at other tea places. Even with such unique flavors, you can still get a good tea flavor. I wish they had more options for toppings but that's a minor complaint. I've only tried their pudding option which is not too hard so it's still slurpable! Their menu clearly list which option uses real milk and which uses milk powder. Milk powder seems to be fine for my brother who is lactose intolerant. There aren't a lot of seating options which is fine for me since I usually take my tea to-go. read more

I had trouble picking from the various drinks on the menu but they helped me find something fit for my taste. I ended up going with a tiramisu bubble tea, it was dusted with a layer of cocoa powder for some extra umph. Their taro milk drink is hands down the best taro bubble tea in the DMV. It's made of real taro and has taro bits giving it that extra umph-factor over all the other taro bubble teas out there. In addition, they've been expanding their menu to include waffle cakes, shaved ice desserts, and have recently added in clear bubbles (which I used to only be able to find at Gong Cha) to their menu. Went here on the recommendation of one of my friends. Was initially skeptical, simply because this is what seems like the 100th bubble tea place within a 2 mile radius in Rockville. It left me with an amazing impression and it will def be my go to place from now on. What sold me, was their Taro milk tea. It is by far the most authentic and best tasting Taro tea I've ever had. Drinking bubble tea is probably my number one guilty pleasure. I usually buy bubble tea at least once a week, but this was my very first time buying drinks from here. To start off, I'd like to say that the variety of drinks exceeded my expectations. I mean, they have flavors ranging from tiramisu to Irish cream! I bought the latter as well as a taro-flavored bubble tea. The Irish cream bubble tea was great, though I wish the flavor was a bit stronger as it was really hard to discern its taste. Moving on, the taro-flavored one was certainly surprising. I'm used to drinking the powder-based purple taro tea that is usually sold at most bubble tea shops, so drinking one that had no artificial coloring and even had bits of taro floating around was very refreshing. To top it all off, the store even has a three by two bubble tea deal Mondays through Thursdays (I think). The waiting time was a little bit longer than in most bubble tea shops, but the cozy seats certainly made it tolerable. Overall, Bubbles&Tea is a great place. I cannot rave enough about this place! Bubbles&Tea is very close to my workplace. I walk there during my lunchtime to get my regular (Passionfruit Green Tea with boba) at least once or twice a week. I've been there enough that the two ladies behind the counter (I'm embarrassed to say I don't know their names although I've been there often enough) greet me with the utmost warmth every time and have my usual drink down. I've been to the surrounding bubble tea places in Rockville (Kung Fu Tea, TeaDo, Ten Ren's, Gong Cha, etc.) and Bubbles&Tea makes the best drink around. Rockville has many, many bubble tea shops and to be honest, when it comes to the product there isn't a huge plus or minus compared to other mainstream shops. I think what gives this place a five star rating is the atmosphere and service. Both stand high above other stores. The atmosphere is typically more family oriented compared to the busy, teenage vibe that you'd might get at a more mainstream shop such as KFT. The customer service is also always prompt and professional with the people serving me always going the extra mile to see if they can cater to me in any way other than the status quo.
