Buca Di Beppo is an Italian restaurant that features family size portions. Keep this in mind: it is best to dine here with at least four people. On a recent Monday evening, I visited with my immediate family and we ordered a salad and two entrees. It was more than enough and we did have leftovers. The salad we selected was the Apple Gorgonzola. It is served with sliced apples, chopped walnuts, dried cranberries, and Gorgonzola cheese sprinkled throughout. With the dried cranberries and walnuts, I think it is a fitting Fall option. The aforementioned ingredients, plus the Italian vinaigrette dressing, gave the salad a nice sweet taste. With the salad, we ate the complementary bread, which was crusty on the edges, soft and fresh in the middle. It was not warm, so I could tell it was not straight from the oven. That did not bother me, but I think it is worth noting. For our entrees, we had the Penne San Remo and the Prosciutto Stuffed Chicken. We ordered the "small size". The "small" bowl of Penne San Remo was about the size of a bathroom sink. With four people eating it, we still had leftovers. The dish consisted of penne pasta in a rich, cream sauce with peas, grilled chicken strips, and sun dried tomatoes. All the flavors blended well together, and I especially liked the sun dried tomatoes. What I appreciated about the entree was it was not extremely salty. Though, it was seasoned well enough that I did not need to add any salt or pepper. The Prosciutto Stuffed Chicken was also great. We received three pieces of breaded chicken covered in a rich marinara sauce laid on top of pesto sauce. As advertised, there is a thin layer of prosciutto in each chicken. The chicken was tender and seasoned nicely. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. In terms of decor, Buca Di Beppo is far from minimalist. We were seated in a room that contained framed pictures on every part of the wall. You will certainly be entertained by the wall decor. In particular, I like the picture of the nuns driving bumper cars. I could do without the Christmas lights and all the nudes. Doesn't do much for my appetite. Still, I can't deny it's a unique restaurant with great Italian food. I will be back. read more

Just an overall excellent experience. The atmosphere is great and the food is even better. I cannot believe they have a table in the kitchen. You can watch them make your food. Too bad that I can't give this restaurant a 0 star. We did an online order from this restaurant and got a confirmation number. We went to pick it up and they couldn't find the order. I even spoke with the manager and gave her the confirmation number and she couldn't find it . Then I went to my Charge card website to find the number for Slice (third party company they use for online order) and they found my order right away and I asked them to cancel it. It is pathetic that after 3 phone calls, they couldn't find my order. If they can't handle online order, they shouldn't be in that business. Be careful when you do online order from this restaurant. And due to Covid-19, that is the only choice we have. There are other good restaurants in that area. You'll have better luck ordering from those restaurants. read more

We had a bad experience at this location with terrible management not contacting us the last time we had an issue with the quality of food and terrible take out service. We decided to give your location another try for father's day since we were in the area. We were just given one piece of sandwich bread on a white plate today to share for 3 of us, presentation was tacky (its usually in a basket) Our server who never introduced himself or the guy he was training by name, the receipt says Tim. He said buca no longer had flavored teas(which we always get when we're there). We ordered a carafe of strawberry basil lemonade instead, which the prices aren't listed in the menu but when we got our receipt it was $42. That's absurd, I could see paying $32 at most, but $42 it is not worth it for a carafe of ice. If you're going to charge that much it should be listed on the menu to give patrons the opportunity to choose not to order it based on the cost. It says the drink serves up to 3 people, we each had one 4oz beer taster glass filled. It's just disappointing the lack of customer service at this location. I'm not sure if the staff just doesn't care, but we will not be back again. We didn't feel welcomed and we felt like we were I welcomed from the minute we walked in. I'm not sure what's going on here but staff is seriously lacking quality customer service. We left a 20% tip but felt like the whole experience was not worth our $150. I work in the service industry and would never imagine giving the type of service we've now received twice at this location. Attitude clearly trickles down from the top, and if management doesn't care to offer a simply apology email back the last time, we should have known better to give them another dime. read more

I'm on the fence about this place. My salmon was good but my pasta loving wife wasn't thrilled with her pasta dish. Also, it did feel like a forced Italian place, as if Trump walked through it and added some fakery to the place. The wait staff was very attentive. I attended a baby shower here, and based on the service alone I wouldn't recommend it for a small party. The food wasn't that great either. We were served pizza and salad. One pizza was a simple mozzarella/marinara and the other a ricotta pizza. Both were okay, but the crust was caked in flour so bad that it stuck to my lips. I wouldn't order pizza if I came here again. They took the salad away before half of the guests were able to eat any. For a group of about 30 there were 2 servers. One server was a mess and should've been bussing tables, not serving a party. He was slow and inattentive on drink refills, and I when I asked he appeared annoyed. He didn't even ask several guests if they wanted a beverage. He also was eager (too eager) to remove our plates when we weren't finished eating. Serving us cake appeared to be a chore. I really don't get the decor in here either. Some of the artwork is cute, interesting or funny. But there's too much of it. If you want to take someone here on a 1st date, I suppose the art work on the walls would be something of a conversation filler. read more

I have a very unfortunate habit of not bothering to look at the receipt when paying for meals at restaurants. This will probably change after my experience at Buca on Saturday night. Paid my $116 bill and pocketed the receipt which I decided to look at this morning and found that they charged me $16 for a glass of wine that I never ordered or received. As for the meal, I had a small order of calamari that was truly a very small order at a rather costly price ($15.99) for such a small order. My wife and son split a small Eggplant Parmesan and said it was good. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo which I thought was much too dry and tasteless, although there was a lot of it. We had a big group of 14 but still should be good service. While ordering the waitress just left and said she would come back instead of helping us decide the portion sizes to get, Which is her job. I had family in town recently and they love this place! There isn't one near them, so we always make a point to come here. Recently, we had the best experience in all the times we've been there. My daughter was acting like her typical 2 year old self... Crazy and hard to control. The manager, Jessica, had come to the table and checked up on us. What a friendly girl! We chatted for a few minutes and she noticed my daughter was getting antsy. She left and came back with a pair of salad tongs and gave her things to pick up with them. It kept her busy for the next 45 minutes so I could engage in the conversations with my family. I thanked her repeatedly for being so thoughtful! It's nice to see someone be so compassionate! Don't ever go here for Dinner with just you and someone else. The Family style portion size doesn't work for just two. You end up paying way too much and for me, having a ton of leftovers from here is not a plus. The red house wines - pretty terrible as well. This place was dead on Friday night when I went here. Be aware of their deceptive menu. This is not a place to come for just two people. Our bill was $160 with tip for two people having three drinks a salad, lasagna and a bowl of spaghetti!! We could've gone to the Olive Garden three times for the same price. The food is approximately the same as Olive Garden. The atmosphere is nice at Boca DePippo but their pricing scheme is ridiculous and deceptive. It's family style and their prices are in red for your meal however when you order a $7 salad it becomes $21 because it serves three. Just beware. I will not be returning! read more

I think this place is a bit hilarious. The kitschy decor and the slight attitude. A large business dinner there meant we could order about 6 things... so we did. The bread... meh... skip it. The Trio app was nice... especially the calamari. All of the pasta dishes we had were well prepared and the noodles were firm. The meat sauce, carbonara, and basilica [pesto] dishes were all tasty, but the spicy chicken rigatoni was the clear winner for our table. The meat dishes we had were the braised beef ribs [VERY tasty] and a salmon with some kind of pesto/sun dried tomato/roasted garlic conncoction on it [also very good]. Tiramisu was well made but the monster brownie sundae dessert was American shit-food. Leave it. No wonder people weight 300 pounds! Wines and beers were reasonable and tasty, but limited in selection. This is a place for larger groups and sharing experiences, in my opinion. Now if you take offense to my language, I swear I did not touch your sister or mother..it was the neighbor's slut daughter or mom that i was with and it wasn't even me! ;p Simple and tasty Italian treats, decent house Chianti and the pizza she is best thin with maybe just pepperoni or the cheese. We went with a group of 8 people on Saturday 2/6/10 to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived we found that the place was loaded with high school kids celebrating a school dance. Most people would have turned around and gone elsewhere. We chose to stick it out because of our past experiences at Buca - plus, how can you blame Buca for the timing of a school dance? It's good business for them. :-) The kids were all very nice - just a little loud in the waiting area while we waited for our table. Buca did a great job of managing a situation that most places would have struggled with. Aside from managing the situation, we were sat on time and treated to fantastic service. Our server was polite and fun, the food was great - we never expect less. The atmosphere was controlled well - though a little cramped. I've been to many different Buca locations in the US and have never had a bad experience. The food is outstanding and the service is always strong. This location is smaller than a lot of the locations that I have been to, but that made it so much better - I felt like I was eating dinner at a family members house or a ma and pa shop - it was great. read more

Ordered a side meatball that did not look like it was a half pound (unless it shrinks during cooking) and ordered two individual chicken limone entrees for our chicken eaters. I think the one piece of chicken on each plate was pulled off the kids menu. It was embarrassingly small and for $18. Not a good value at all. Yeah this place is great for a big group of people. I would not go with less than 4. I guess it's possible but the whole idea of family style is to go with a family sized group right? We went with 4 and there was so much food leftover it wasn't even funny. The seafood linguine is excellent. And the calimari is nice as well. They have some old fashioned sodas or something like that if I remember correctly (I could be totally wrong, maybe it was just Italian sodas) and they were delicious. The braised beef was also good. We ordered some chicken parmigian as well. The bread is your typical filler, try to stay away otherwise you will definitely be bringing food back home, which isn't always a bad thing I suppose. So when you're out in chain land and want some decent Italian food complete with cheesy waitstaff -- this isn't the worst place you'll find. The food ... ... was decent, although I was not impressed with my pesto-encrusted salmon (the accompanying potatoes and veggies were unimpressive). The apps were yummy (calamari, mozz sticks, shrimp -- all fried and caprese salad). The tiramisu was huge and flavorful. Overall everything was edible and enjoyable on the most basic level, but I was not blown away. The service... ... was the worst I had experienced in a long time. I think they guy was just overworked. I'm not holding it against him (or the restaurant). Never filled the water. In fact, I arrived late, requested water several times and didn't get a glass until dessert (needed to wash down that tiramisu). Came here for a baby shower on a Sunday afternoon. The first person I came in contact with was unfriendly and uninterested in my presence. The place was still being set-up to open at noon, but I had called to see when I could arrive to help set-up. I was told 11:45 would be fine, but when I arrived, the girl at the front blinked a few times, taped the computer screen, and said she would be back. During the five minutes she was gone, numerous servers and staff members passed through the waiting room without any kind of greeting. I wasn't hoping for a welcome wagon, but a small smile as people pass through knowing I was a party guest because of my bouquet of balloons, would have been appreciated. Anyway, as she returned, she let me know it would be ready in a few minutes still keeping strong on her refusal to make eye contact. Weird, but not enough to ruin the party. I walked back anyway and it was all set-up and ready to go. The room was very nicely laid out with table settings, water, extra chairs, a coat closet, and a table for presents in the corner. I was instantly relaxed and set-up additional decorations. The servers came right in and introduced themselves offering something to drink and help setting up. They were very nice and on top of bringing drinks and clearing plates for the entire event. The food itself was solid as Bucca's is very consistent in their staple dishes. The flow of the event was great thanks to the servers and pacing of the salad, entrees, and desert. I was not blown away by the portion of food served, but left satisfied. The thing that really brought it down was the front of the house. Instead of enjoying the beginning of the party, I stood out in front to offer a smile to the shower guests. Buca is a good family style restaurant. The decor makes it a very unique dining experience as well. Every dish I've ever had here was good, ranging from Pizza, manicotti, eggplant parmesan, and even the penne basilica pasta. Don't go during homecoming season cause it will be packed with HS kids. Definitely one of the better options in Lombard area. I actually like it better than Maggianos, but others would disagree. First off let me tell y'all .. I've been here about 4 times at this location with my family and the service here has always been the greatest. Staff is friendly, food is amazing and the environment is all around a good feeling. Tonight was a bit different, my girlfriend and I came here to celebrate our 5 years of being together and we had the perfect night planned. Unfortunately things decided to go a different route. We ordered an electronic gift card from this app called Raise (I recommend you NOT to download it) we bought a 50$ gift card but it didn't go thru but it charged my debit card. We told Jen (our server) about our situation and the general manager Chad came to our table and we explained our situation to him as well. Long story short they gave us the best service I could ever be grateful for, they took care of our meal on them. I'm forever grateful and thankful for this Buca family. I was delighted to see three-stars when I pulled up Buca to write this review, because that's exactly what it is -- a three-star affair -- no more, no less. I've been here numerous times, most recently last Sunday for lunch. Initially we were seated next to a party of at least 12, with two screaming infants. Nursing a hangover, that would obviously not work. We were then reseated in another, more quiet area of the restaurant where service began. Our waiter was prompt. The food was what I was expecting. Not over the top, yet not bad either. Just average. Portions are pretty large though and I had plenty of leftovers. Will I go to Buca again? Sure. Will I make a special trip over there? Probably not. For the same or a little less $$, I'd hit up Olive Garden which serves up a bit more robust flavor than Buca. read more

Chicken parm was the only reason I rated 1 star- it was great, everything else was awful. No flavor in spaghetti & meatballs , manicotti were even worse. Ordered a glass of wine, found out 1 glass is $23 , more expensive than the entire bottle is at jewel. The awful food was not worth the absurd prices. My husband and I went on a weekday night for date night. We appreciated that our reservation was adhered to and we were able to sit in a decent amount of time. The waiting area is extremely tiny and we had to wait in the bar area to have a conversation. The only complaint I had was they were out of an entree at 7pm! I found that strange especially in an area where the demographic caters to people who dine out a lot and spend money on quality food. The comments that say it is expensive I find that odd. We spent about $80 without tip, but we each had two cocktails, an entree, and an appetizer. This may be expensive for some, but I think a $20 entree is reasonable. read more
