After not visiting for years, we came back at open on a Sunday for lunch. We were shocked that it was deserted. Only one other large traditional family that was celebrating a birthday. They were super noisy, but having a good time laughing--good for them! Parking is still in back with a shared lot--check the signs carefully to make sure. Seems like Buca owns a lot less of the spaces now compared to the past. We had to wait a bit for a lady to come out to seat us, but she apologized and explained that a server called in sick so she was short staffed. We later found out that her name was Dalia and that she is one of the managers. She was super friendly and efficient especially considering she was cooking, waiting, and seating until a replacement server could get in. We were sorry she was shorthanded, but she was so nice and friendly that we are glad she helped us on this visit. We got the broccoli side dish, spaghetti and meatballs, and ate some of the complimentary bread. The broccoli was good but a little spicy due to pepper flakes. The spaghetti and meatballs had much higher quality meatballs and noodles compared to Spaghetti Factory. However, the probably higher quality sauce was a little sour, so we liked the cheaper and thicker Spaghetti Factory sauce better. The complimentary was just ok, comparable to Maggiano's, but very good because Dalia got it to us piping hot right out of the oven. Olive oil with vinegar for dipping came out without having to ask for it like you now need to do st Maggiano's. The overall, the food quality is just ok and not as good as it used to be decades ago. The only real value for the price is that you still get pretty big family sized portions. Dalia recommended the Roman Tiki cocktail of the options we were considering. It was probably the best food item. It was sweet with the alcohol in the background for flavor rather than as the primary taste. Dalia told us about their rewards program and we joined. Since it was just past both of our birthdays and since we could not eat the giant sized birthday Sunday they normally give you, Dalia comped us a scoop of ice cream each. That was super nice and we were not expecting that. Overall, due to the deserted nature of the restaurant in comparison to lines out the door years ago and the many discounts and activities to get customers in the doors now (book readings from authors and live music) and due to the fact that Dalia asked us if we were there for a special occasion like at super high end restaurants, we got the impression that business must not be that good. That's too bad, as Buca is still a nice place to go for a family meal or a special occasion. Probably also still a good date spot. Quality has dropped from over 20 years ago, but still worth visiting. Pro Tip: Restrooms are hidden straight past the hostess stand and through the kitchen and then down a short hall to the right. Came here on Father's Day and was honestly disappointed. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived. The first host asked how many were in our party, and I told her three. There was only one other family waiting in the lobby. A few minutes later, another woman came out, who I assume was the manager, and asked if we had a reservation. We said no, and she told us the earliest they could seat us would be five hours later. Five hours, despite the restaurant being practically empty at the time. I understand if there are staffing or reservation issues, but turning away a party of three when you have an empty dining room seems like a poor way to run a business. We ultimately left and took our business elsewhere. Unfortunately, the experience left a very bad impression, and we won't be returning. Based on this experience, it's not surprising to see the restaurant struggling. read more

I ordered two dishes of the creamy pesto chicken and added chicken. It was the most dry, bland, Italian entree I've ever experienced. It was indeed not creamy at all. There wasn't nearly enough chicken compared to the amount of noodles in the dish. And overall, it just lacked flavor. I'm giving the establishment one star because the dressing for the side Caesar salads I ordered was decent. Otherwise, I wouldn't dare try anything else from this place. read more

Everything seemed fresh (food wise) with the salad was crisp and had just the right amounts of all ingredients. The waitress attentive and informative. The pizza was the best we've had here. Fresh, crisp and tasty. The manager came by to see how everything was which is always a plus to see care taken to ensure good customer service. This is always a fun place to eat and we've been coming to this chain for years. We came on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy at 6pm. The food was great, portions are big, and overall we are very pleased. Service wise there were a few hiccups. Our main entrees didn't for a loooong time and our dirty appetizers plates were never taken away. For about 15 minutes we sat there while the plates were sitting and my glass of water empty. Someone in our party ordered a cup of coffee and even after appetizers it still didn't arrive. I actually spoke to the manager on site at the time and she was really helpful and had the food brought out shortly after that. She made sure that we were taken care of and we really appreciate her. The server also came by to apologize, stuff like that happens we all have a bad day. Glad that we said something so that they knew what was happening and fixed it. read more

I ordered lasagna to go, noted to be good for 3-4 people, $40, $50 with tax and tip. I was impressed with the size of the aluminum container 12" x 6" at the top, 3" tall and tapering toward the bottom indicating the it would be substantial. I opened the cover at home to find the lasagna only filled 2/3 of the container and actually much less than that considering the vertical sides of the lasagna. Suddenly, my view changed from "a pretty good deal" to "another over-priced deal". I ate 1/4 of the lasagna + noodles I added for lunch. The lasagna was great! It just happens to be very small. Okay. So my parents are in town and I got a takeout order for them. Whatever... the food is pedestrian and underwhelming. I expected that, although this Buca is worse than the average Buca. I'm giving them two stars largely based on the immense number of fake reviews that they purchased. Look at all the recent reviews. Look at how many call out "Cynthia" or "Emily." When do you see that? Who remembers the server's name at a chain restaurant? Am I supposed to believe that around 50 people did in the past few months and they all had a flawless 5-star experience? Please. Note that this place has like 480 not recommended reviews, all of which are terrible. Also this is the saddest neon sign that I have ever seen. I'll tell you I was a little disappointed. First we were treated exceptionally nice by our server. We had a nice time as usual. I did notice the portions are smaller and the prices may have changed. We ordered one appetizer usually we order 2 or 3. The calamari was a real disappointment. Very little !!!! The portion was not worth buying. The whole ambiance had great aesthetic and service. Both Bianco and Emily helped me a ton with any questions that I had. Even the manager, Dalia, personally answered and helped me out during busy times just to show how important they value the customers. By far the best restaurant you'll find. Family friendly and easy. Of all the locations I have been to I was very disappointed that this location specifically let me down. On a Saturday, I was shocked they would run out of there famous meat balls so early. In addition, our main dish was served so late we had eaten all the other dishes already, and had to package the Fettuccine Alfredo to go!!! Our waiter unfortunately, treated me and my guest rudely. I don't want to pull the race card so I'll leave it here. Overall service was mediocre at best. The Ambiance of the restaurant is always rustic. I took a few weeks off, but I'm glad I'm back again. Tonight was my first time trying this place out for date night & i came out amaze. Cynthia was our server Very helpful & very nice. The inside of the restaurant was crazy I'm a good way. The food was absolutely perfect. The taste of the margarita pizza was perfect. I'm in love with the mixed green salad the taste of the vinaigrette dressing is what's making me come back. The tiramisu was my husband first time tasting it & he said it was bomb.
