I stopped by Spires Restaurant (20) for Lunch @ 1750 Sepulveda Blvd, Torrance, Ca, 90501. I was greeted by a man named Chris. Chris escorted me to an empty table & I sat down. That table was Clean & it had a Clean Fork, Spoon, Butter Knife, Napkin Dispenser and a Bottle of Ketchup on the table. Chris asked me if I needed anything else, I said "No Thank You". Chris walked away. A waitress/server named Elizabeth showed up and gave me a menu. She told me to take my time choosing the meal I wanted to eat. Elizabeth then told me that she would be back to take my order. Elizabeth came back a few minuets later and asked me what I wanted to order. I gave her my order and she left. A few minuets later, Elizabeth came back with the food and put it on the table. She asked me "Did I Forget Anything"? I said No. Elizabeth said "Enjoy Your Meal" then left. I was halfway through my lunch when Elizabeth showed back up and asked me if I needed anything else, I told her "No, I have everything I need". She walked away. At the end of my lunch, Elizabeth showed back up and gave me the paper bill for the lunch. She asked me if I was happy with her service, I told her that I was Very Happy with her service. Elizabeth then asked me how the lunch tasted, I told her the food tasted fantastic! I gave her my credit card and told her to add a $10 tip to the total of the bill. Elizabeth said "Thank You For The Tip", I told Elizabeth that she worked hard for and deserves that tip! I told Elizabeth that I will be returning to that Fantastic Spires Restaurant in the near future. I walked out of that Spires Restaurant a Happy Customer! I like Spire's and eat here from time to time w/the hubby. It's the neighborhood diner located on Sepulveda and Western in the Harbor Gateway area of the South Bay. There are two daily specials that are a good value. On Monday nights is fried chicken night. They start you with either soup of the day or a side salad. (I forget if it's both, will need to check and update later.) Generous pieces of fried chicken! Take a look at my photos and a choice of 2 sides. Lastly, a small dessert is included. I usually choose a scoop of vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and nuts. It's good stuff! On Sunday nights, the special is a petite sirloin steak with 2 sides, soup or salad, and a dessert. Hubby and I are have mostly gone in on the evenings so the night servers are familiar with us and super kind and efficient. There are only a few Spire's locations left in the South Bay. I pass by here all the time and the signage is classic. I always think of this intersection because of their iconic big green lettered SPIRES. Food is cozy diner American. Service is okay. But they charged for hot water. I've never been to an establishment that charged for hot water. Portions for the omelette and fruit felt small. The sausage link was meaty and the French toast was delicious. We also had to wait a while because they ran out of sourdough bread (at 10:30 am) and we finished our food before they brought us a bread. Everything else felt a bit small considering their prices were average to comparable diners. Maybe something has changed in recent years. This is the place to take grandma and grandpa. I've been to this Spire's location several times but finally remembered to do a review today. Some of my favorites are the Bacon & Eggs Breakfast, Clam Chowder and the Fried Zucchini (even my mom raves about the Fried Zucchini). I noticed that Daily Dinner Specials are available from 15:00 to 21:00. I've tried the BBQ Pork Ribs in the past. Good, but the sauce was a little too sweet for my taste. Today I got the Pork Chops. The special comes with a choice of two sides, soup or salad and dessert. I really like the seasoning they used on the Pork Chops. Good flavor but not overwhelming. The broccoli was cooked well with garlic. The baked potato is always good. The salad was crisp and chilled. Service is always friendly and helpful (especially on letting you know what's available for the side items). Definitely a local's vibe at this location. Seems that many are repeat diners. read more

I had to go food order with door dash. The order was correct however not one utensil no ketchup with french fries no ranch or any sauces for steak and shrimp nothing. It's a to go order and your staff just puts it in a bag that all I hate that we as customers don't need to be asking for staff to do there jobs read more

First time at this location because the other Torrance location closed. I didn't think there would be a difference in the food since it's the same restaurant chain, but unfortunately was pretty disappointed :/ My family and I got BLTs with fried zucchini sticks. Portions were very small. The other location used to give more than 3 pieces of zucchini. The bacon, lettuce & tomato inside the sandwich were also pushed all the way to the edge of the sandwich to make it appear that it was stuffed, but there were hardly any ingredients inside. After a few bites, I was just left with lettuce & mostly bread! I expected a bigger portion due to the price, and I expected consistency with their other location! Their ranch was also super watery and lacked ranch flavor! I really think the other location in Torrance that closed was better. I hope this location changes some things! read more

Update of daily specials: this is a significant price increase but this is still a good deal! Service was a bit slow but it was fairly busy for a Tuesday night only one server and one busser. All three of us had the chicken fried steak special. The beef barley soup was very good. Good place to have breakfast with ample seating. My party of 6 ordered and food was out in around 15 minutes. The servers do an excellent job coming around refilling coffees and drinks, which is super nice. My Popeye omelette was delicious; it was generously loaded with spinach, mushrooms, and onions. Comes with soup, salad, 1 side and dessert! Tuesday night was chicken fried steak and they give you the option of meat! My daughter got the steak. I'm not to fond of chicken fried steak so I got the pork chops! Another great dish! The pork chops were plump, fat n juicy! The server gave us all the fixin's! They were extremely busy, which is great to see! They only had 2 servers/cashier and one cook that night, but they worked as quick as they could! My family loves coming to Spires. The food is always good quality and priced fairly. Now while you won't find anything gourmet or special here, they offer delicious home cooked style dishes. Their soups are the best in town just as advertised and I haven't had one I didn't absolutely love, ESPECIALLY their unique take on chicken gumbo. Probably one of the best parts about coming to Spires is the long time server Oscar. He is probably one of the best servers I have ever encountered. He is friendly, prompt, and attentive. It seems he always remembers the regular customers and everyone always seems to greet him and want to sit in his section as well because how great he is. Torrance Food Crawl #124 Spires, the pinnacle of eating, is a convenient family-friendly place, though it skews to a slightly older clientele. Its a traditional diner with a menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. They serve breakfast all day and I was almost going to order a breakfast item but changed my mind and ordered a sandwich. The Ultimate Chicken Sandwich has two primary ingredients, a flattened chicken breast and bacon. The chicken was very plain tasting. The bacon overpowers the chicken. Fast food places have learned that people love bacon and when they add bacon to an item they see their sales go up (that's why you see so many bacon enhanced items on menus). Adding bacon to this sandwich is probably an improvement, but in the process it makes it more of a bacon/chicken sandwich. It's an OK sandwich but I would probably order something else next time. The Onion Rings were on the thin side but had a nice oniony taste. The restaurant was clean and not very crowded on a Wednesday afternoon. Service was good. Plenty of parking. read more
