The rating is due to their customer service, not their food. I walked into Buccaneer today, just before 3pm. Like anyone might, I took a few minutes to look over the menu before ordering. At 3:02 I asked for a quartermaster sandwich and a pizza. I was informed then, not when I walked through the door, that they don't serve sandwiches after 3pm. She certainly could've informed me of that fact PRIOR to 3, since I was standing at the register in the minutes leading up to 3pm. And since I drove 30 minutes, specifically for that sandwich. She said others have complained as well. Yet, she doesn't feel it's important, after "others have complained", to inform customers of the sandwich policy, while time is running out?? Anyway... at 3:03, I left without ordering ANYthing. The truth is, I like their food. But the young lady, who's usually at the counter, most days, comes across cold or rude. Almost always. Today was no different. How I'm treated is just as important to me as the quality of their food. 've been a loyal customer at this pizza place for a long time, and their pizza is fantastic. Their sandwiches are even better. However, during my recent visit, I was disappointed to receive the smallest slice I've ever had from them. It felt like a rip-off at $4.10. I had called my order in for a sandwich half an hour beforehand, and when I arrived, they were barely making the sandwich. There was no one in the restaurant, and the people in line had just bought slices. I'm not sure what's going on at this location, but I hope they improve their service. All I wanted for Mother's Day was pizza. Pizza will never let you down. And Buccaneer Pizza? Man, they know how to make a pizza! I ordered their cap'n atkins, or better known as "meat lovers" pizza. Their description alone stole my heart: "Meats ahoy! First tomato sauce, mozzarella, a layer of pepperoni, then a layer of ham, all sprinkled with pieces of bacon, and finally topped with Italian sausage and meatballs". YUM. I'm really disappointed with my experience here. I was told my pizza would take about 10 minutes, but it ended up taking way longer than that. I was already very hungry, so the wait felt really frustrating and unnecessary. When I finally got my food, it was extremely hot and I couldn't even enjoy it properly right away. The long wait plus the inaccurate time estimate honestly ruined the experience for me. the waiter came back to ask if i needed anything else and they were missing my pizza skulls so i told her and she went back to go "check on them" and she never came back i had to go up to the register to ask for it I don't think I would come back again based on this visit. read more

The staff here are super friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a modern feel to it. But, let's face it, you come to a place like this for the pizza and you will not be disappointed. Ingredients taste pretty fresh and the dough is pretty soft and has a hint of sweetness, while the tomato sauce has a little kick. Pizza is pretty good and they sell by the slice. They have lunch specials, but they aren't posted anywhere, so I can't tell you what they are. I wanted a slice, a salad, and a drink, which was an option, but they don't have blue cheese dressing (only ranch, caesar, and Italian), so I opted for 2 slices and a drink. The coke mix is so sweet that it almost tastes like straight syrup without soda mixed in. Yuck! They only had cheese and pepperoni slices to choose from at 11:30 a.m. on a Friday, so I went with pepperoni. Less than 5 minutes after I got my two slices of pepperoni, a fresh pie came out of the oven just mushrooms as an option. I barely ever see a mushroom slice available anywhere and I absolutely would have preferred that over pepperoni. Second time trying Buccaneer Pizza. The first time was better. We got a large cheese pizza and it was delicious. Second time we ordered a cheese pizza and it was not good. It was burnt and over cooked. There was black on the crust. And under the pizza was black. I could even eat it. The crust and dough was burnt. Disappointed. My salad was fresh. It had a lot of fresh fruit on top. But the dressing didn't really complement the salad fixings. The salad was a miss for me. Overall, seems like hit or miss. Food is usually great! The low rating is for the service! It's gone down lately and idk what's going on. This is second time that they haven't had a driver for delivery and didn't contact me. When I called about my pizza an hour after ordering I was told that they tried to call me and then they proceeded to read off the wrong number by one digit, telling me that's the info in their database. I went on my profile on their website and my phone number is correct. After settling on picking up my order, I called them back and told them I wanted delivery since their driver would be there soon. Buccaneers Pizza in Orange I will give them two stars. The pizza was OK. The chicken wings not so good fatty and the buffalo sauce was on the impartment paper not on the wings. Wings were dry. In fact I would give it one star I don't recommend this place to anybody. I was extremely unsatisfied. I even had to ask for plates. The plates are so thin. The Oreo goes through to the table. If I was the owner of this place, I would revamp the whole situation. Everybody working there the ambience there are the service the control factor had to ask for Parmesan cheese had to ask for crushed red peppers. Just very sad if you're trying to take your family to a good pizza place not the place. The only thing that can improve this place and the service and the ambience is for the owner to revamp the whole Place fire. I ordered one skull at first then came back for 3, they were that good! The pizza was absolutely delicious, some of the best I've had. However, the other employee wasn't as friendly. She seemed bothered while taking my friends' order and was rude for no reason. I believe her name was Steph (can't remember) I understand people have bad days but I don't understand why you are taking it out on a first time customer??? Cheese blanket!!! If you love cheese this is the place for you. Their specialize in thicker crust pizzas but you can request a thinner crust pizza. I like them both. It's not a thin crust like a cracker just thinner than the thick crust they will make. Just depends on my mood really. When you eat the pizza fresh it's literally like something you see from TNMT or any other cartoon pizza. Gooey at the top but the toppings manage to stay on if you're fast enough to catch it. I didn't know about the cheese blanket until later but you can add it to your pizza for an additional cost and it will be covered in an additional layer of cheese, an actual blanket of cheese. read more

Here's some pros and cons: Pros: They make very good pizza. They don't skip in the ingredients. The crust is good. They have a wide variety of toppings. They have my favorite combo garlic and basil. If my car smells like garlic the next morning they did it right. My order is hot when I arrive and it has never been late. Cons: Okay, Villa Park is pretty upscale so I don't expect things to be as cheap as Orange. However, a personal salad, and a medium pizza with custom toppings, pickup ,for $40 (with tip) is hard to swallow. There was a pizza place on Chapman called Magic Mikes with similar pricing. They went out of business. They have a pretty limited selection of pasta dishes. Sometimes it would be nice to have cheese ravioli. No such luck At the time I pick up the pizza, parking is iffy. That's not their fault, obviously, but it something customers have to deal with. Will I continue to get my takeout pizza there? Sure. Will I continue to grouse about the price? You bet. Buccaneer is a bit on the pricey side for pizza but you are paying up for good quality (and quantity of) ingredients and a consistently delicious pizza. Recently (April 2024) ordered a medium Hawaiian pizza (pineapple and Canadian bacon; $24) and I can't lie, every bite was good including the crust. Perfectly chewy bread that wasn't too doughy, nice layer of sauce that wasn't too sweet, healthy layer of cheese, with enough ham and pineapple to fully cover the entire pie - no skimping on toppings here (you get what you pay for!). A medium is 8 slices and great for 1 person to have leftovers, or split between two people with there are other snacks around and no leftovers. Buccaneer might be too expensive to order 5 pizzas to feed a group, but for an individual "splurge" pie or two, I think it's worth it. read more

Buccaneer Pizza is probably one of the best quality pizza shops in the area. I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for"! You're gonna pay more for this pizza versus the 'buy one, get one free shops' but you're gonna get a great pizza with lots of quality toppings - and they are very generous with their toppings. It's totally worth the pice!! And there's just no comparison! We usually call-in our order then pick it up rather than having it delivered. You definitely get your pizza a lot quicker! And occasionally we'll order one of their salads to go along with our pizza. Their salads are great too! Our three main 'go-to' pizzas are the Italian Galleon, Cap'n Atkins, which is their meat lovers pizza, and the Buccaneer combo. You can't go wrong with any of these!
