Flew in early and was looking for a sit down, easy brrakfast. After a quick search and reading a few reviews, this was the destination. The reviews were on point. Friendly and quick staff. Good food. I came to Buddys after a recommendation from a classmate. It was a busy Saturday morning and we sat at the booth in front of the kitchen giving us a clear view of everything going on. I will never come here again! The food was okay and the service was fine however, the staff did not wash their hands at all. A woman came in the dinner behind me and my friend (I think she was the owner) she sat at the counter and without washing her hands she started rolling silverware! All the germs she brought from outside are now all over peoples eating utensils. The bus boy was working hard but he was clearing dishes and without washing his hands he was filling people's cups and touching the rim with his dirty hands! They served us our food without wiping the counter down from the guests before us. Finally my server...she was sick! She was coughing onto her arm, clearing dirty dishes, touching money, TOUCHING HER RUNNY NOSE, then without washing her hands she was buttering people's toast. During flu season people should be aware of what they are touching especially in restaurants! My waiter also served a child and everyone knows children have a weaker immune system and it can be horrific when they get I'll. I would not recommend coming here during rush hour because they are obviously too busy to wash their hands and keep up with avarage restraunt cleanliness standards. read more

Place was super cute, noise was a bit high but that's to be expected in a dinner, kid friendly, lots to look at and talk about and a great place for youngsters to bring grand parents to share in the fun and have conversations about the history and memories! I had the Blast burger and it tasted fresh good flavors not too salty. The home cut potato chips were awesome! The the only thing I'd like to improve (I realize you make them yourself and you get major props for that!) is the bread, the bun was so soft that by the third bite (as pictured) i was left holding avocado and blue cheese dripping tomato juice :( However the Shirley temple was done RIGHT with a straw, a spoon to snag the four cherries, and free refills, they even replenished the cherries x2! I'm a bit of a snob on my Shirley temples so mad respect on that, firm up the bread and make it able to take some juice before disintegrating and the fifth star is yours buddy's loved everything otherwise...bread is half the sandwich :) read more

Rushed to eat our food and the server glared at us the whole time, once received our Togo box's we were told we have 5 minutes to leave because they have a "line out the door" walked out, there were 2 families waiting for a table. 2 families... not a "line out the door" will not be going back and will not recommend them to anyone. After our lackluster dinner experience, we avoided Buddy's for some time, but friends kept recommending it for brunch and it's one of the few all-day-breakfast joints around. I'm glad we came back. While I wouldn't do dinner again, their french toast, omelettes, and other breakfast fare have been great, comparable quality or a little better than the Glenwood and Brail's for the same price point. Been here a few times and have always had the All Shook Up which is diced ham eggs with home style spuds and a biscuit. Always cooked perfectly. I also have a vanilla shake every time but the last when I got wild and had a strawberry shake. YUM! This place gets busy at time and the only big draw back is the venting system and you can leave smelling a little bit like a French fry. Took the family to Buddy's last week and we were completely impressed. We have 6 small children aged 12- newborn, all with different palates so diners are our favorite! This morning (1/5/2022) was my first visit to Buddy's, and boy oh boy, was it awesome in every way possible! Wow! I had a friend visiting from out of state and we went to breakfast together before he had to fly back home. I had researched recommended breakfast places in Eugene and found Buddy's. I felt like it was a perfect choice. It sure turned out to be! Super fun classic old diner atmosphere and the fun was only just beginning when we walked in. Stephanie came right over to us after we sat down and was funny as heck from the get-go. Her energy and genuine personality were amazing beyond words! She chatted with us about The Simpsons and Springfield and was very engaged with my friend when I mentioned where he was originally from and where he lives now and what he does for a career. She wished him safe travels before we left and said that she would see him next time he was in town and that I better come back soon. Haha. She was and is a 100/10! Truly! found this little spot when i was driving around Eugene looking for a new place to eat. Had a great breakfast here with the family. Get there early because it does get busy and full really quick. I've never been to Buddy's for dinner, but if they do dinner like the do breakfast and lunch then I'm sure it's satisfactory! I've never left this place without being put in a food coma immediately afterward, so I can honestly say that if you're going here be prepared for food that'll fill you up and sit heavy. Buddy's is a 50's style diner: checkered walls, red '57 chevy hood sticking out of the wall, and a number of photos of musicians from back in the day. Usually there's lots of old timers and regulars, I rarely see college kids as part of the clientele, hence the very old skool feel to the place. Breakfast and lunch dishes are delicious and very hearty. Thankfully their eggs are never cooked dry (like a lot of breakfast joints I know), they're cooked a little moister than most, which helps enhance the flavor of whatever they add to it. Buddy's country gravy is a little on the blah side, but their chicken fried steak rocks so much savory flavor that you overlook the sauce. Also the bread that they use for their sandwiches is homemade and tastes like a slice of heaven IF you catch it fresh from the oven, otherwise, it sinks to just above mediocre. Overall, their food isn't really something so new and jaw-dropping that you'd write home about it, but they do serve food that'll make your eyes-roll back and move you to sigh in fatty contentment. Service-wise, I assume since their clientele is of the older generation service is not usually ever fast-paced. I agree that the wait staff does mosey around at their own pace, but they're pleasant and friendly people. I've never waited more than about 8 minutes for service. So that's not all that bad in my book. Goooooooood food, pleasant and friendly service, and nothing to complain about, I give this place 4 stars. read more

I highly recommend that you not waste your money and time eating at this restaurant. Absolutely the worst meal I've had here in Eugene. My wife ordered Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was tasteless. A little salt and a squeeze of lemon juice would have helped (Maybe). The meat was neither ham or Canadian bacon. It was lunchmeat 'ham'. The home fried potatoes? Once again tasteless. Don't these people know about salt and pepper at least? I had a Reuben sandwich... the meat , once again was a lunch meat version of pastrami and the cheese was not Swiss cheese as described in the menu. Maybe it was white American cheese. The coffee was mediocre to say the least. I expect better these days with such good coffee available. At $2.95 a cup I felt ripped off. In addition to the food being so bad, the place was dirty. We were seated where we could see behind the counter where garbage was spilling out of the pail and the floor cluttered and the service area messy. Brunch for two ended up costing $35 with tip. I left feeling like I'd been robbed and baffled as to how a restaurant like that could stay open and do a brisk business serving such awful and tasteless food. read more

I had the club sandwich with shoestring fries to go(waitress recommended since we ordered take out) and my husband had the burger with ham and egg on it(forgot it's name) also with the shoestring fries and fry sauce on the side. Oh my gosh! The bacon on my sandwich was perfect, and it was huge! I could only eat half for dinner and saved the other half for lunch the next day and it was still amazing. Buddy's Diner is the perfect classic diner. Comfortable booths, attentive service, and a relaxed atmosphere. This is one of my favorite places to come for breakfast or brunch. My order of choice is a chicken fried steak, called the "love me tender", served with hashbrowns, 2 eggs, and a biscuit. I also get a chocolate milkshake, which is super tasty. While the food here is not fancy or extravagant in any manner, the dishes are perfect for what this restaurant is. Big, delicious servings of classic comfort food. Buddy's will make you nostalgic for the old days, even if you're a younger guy like myself.
