Excellent! Came here on a Saturday around 3 pm with two of my friends for brunch. Brunch and around four so we make sure to arrive a little before then we were seated immediately and we sat outside since the day was beautiful out. we ordered the egg sandwich, the huevos rancheros, the brunch burrito, mac & cheese, with short ribs, and the fruity pebbles pancakes. Everything was truly delicious. I cannot stop eating the mac & cheese and short ribs that was one of the best dishes service was amazing. Our waiter was very kind prices were fairly reasonable. There is street parking but it is Jersey City so you have to be patient and search. This was worth the trip and I can't wait to be back for more. read more

Visited Buddy's with a friend on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all! We were quickly greeted by the bartender who was also our server and allowed us to sit anywhere we wanted. Our server was very nice and gave us great suggestions on different drinks as well as different variations of meals we could order. I ended up ordering their fruity pebbles pancakes with an espresso martini and my friend ordered a Buffalo chicken wrap with oil and garlic fries as well as a margarita since it was half off margaritas. To share we ordered Mac and cheese. Everything was very delicious! The pancakes were fluffy and surprisingly not too sweet. I could have done without the raspberry drizzle but other than that it was exactly what I wanted. The Mac and cheese was creamy and had a bit of spice which I loved! Ordered take out. Food was ready very quickly. Everything is tasty BUT I was excited about the Chili Pepper Fries with Garlic Aioli I ordered and when I got home, I found that they gave me plain fries and packets of ketchup. Since I can't just easily send it back, they lose one star. read more

Came to Buddy's last night for a late dinner after 9. My friend and I were able to sit immediately. It was definitely a chill vibe. There were people at the bar who were having a great time. Everyone on staff seemed nice. Chef Tyler personally put our orders in. He was really friendly and helpful when it came to choosing a meal. Ultimately, we both decided to build our own burgers rather than get the signature ones from the menu. The burger and fries hit the spot and were just what I needed. I also didn't feel rushed to leave as well. My friend and I were able to sit and talk and enjoy our meal for as long as we wanted. The restaurant seemed pretty intimate at the time. Not much to say about this place. For me it was just ok. There was no wait at the time we arrived (which was great). Was not crowded, food came fairly quick but service was meh (I know I know being a waitress is a very tiring job) but could have been better. Food was ok, nothing really blew me away or stood out. We were walking in the area and found this cute restaurant around the corner. I took a look at the menu and saw fried pickles and was sold (my absolute favourite). We decided to sit outside and get a few things to share. We weren't really sure what to get as we weren't really feeling the rest of the appetizers. The waitress recommended the Brussels sprouts, which we were hesitant to get because we weren't big fans of Brussels sprouts but we decided to go with her recommendation. I was also craving Greek salad so we decided to get that with the steak add on. Let me start off by saying, the service here was amazing, the staff was so kind and welcoming. First and foremost, the reason we stayed: the pickles. So delicious and unique. I've never had fried pickles made like that (they were sliced flat). The tempura batter (I assume) was so delicious and crispy and the flavour of the pickle itself was good. The Greek salad was interesting, there was no lettuce, and the Greek salad elements were large chunky pieces, but I really enjoyed it. And this place isn't even a steakhouse yet they made steak better than some steakhouses I've been to. Last but definitely not least, the Brussels sprout recommendation. I am so glad we decided to get them because they ended up being the my favourite dish! The flavour was so good, there were bacon bits which complimented the zesty spouts and chipotle aioli. And there were sprout pieces that were so crispy which really made the dish for me. Hash browns looked like a pile of chunky mashed potatoes, not browned and no taste. Honestly, I know it sounds bad, but it was almost mediocre. The service was great, so I bumped it up to 3 stars, but the food was a 2. The presentation of the chicken sandwich was a 5, too bad it didn't live up to the hype. On the very last bite, I tasted some seasoning. I think I might have just gotten a dud chicken that was not made properly. I always walk by this place and have been wanting to try the brunch. It's always busy during brunch primetime of 11-1 on Sat and sun. We got there at 11 on Sun and only waited for maybe 10 min and sat inside. I think a longer wait for outside. Wait staff was very nice and attentive. It got a bit cold in there and there were a lot of flies! Even one landed in our water and we had to fish it out. I was happy with my chicken and waffles. The waffle was very complimentary to the fried chicken. The chicken was juicy and crunchy. I wish there were a bit more macaroni and cheese pieces in the waffle though, def not every bite tasted like mac and cheese waffle. When it did it was amazing. I want to try making it at home. The chicken didn't have any sauce on it and just came with syrup. Some other pics on yelp show a cheese sauce but there wasn't any on mine. I ate half and took the rest home. At $20 its more on the expensive side and I prefer boneless white meat instead of bone on dark meat. My friend got the cheesy mushroom hash. She said she liked it but there were a ton of potatoes on there. The dish looked mostly potatoes. Potatoes in the hash and as home fries. They should offer something else as a side if you are getting a hash. When you look at the dish you see no mushrooms. If a dish is called mushroom hash it should have plenty of mushrooms in it. Toast came out late too and they also messed up for a second and brought over the wrong order. Lemonade was very good. Might come back again and try a burger or a sandwich. read more

This might be a weird thing to criticize but it's honestly so extreme I feel compelled: they REALLY should consider better cutlery. I get that this place is really an upscale (ish) diner but, wow, the silverware is so cheap and thin it was painful to hold the fork and use the knife. Investing in better utensils is such an easy fix and says so much about the quality of a place. They should also add at least a little salt to the food when they cook. On the plus side, some of the servers are very nice. And it's good to have a restaurant in this location! read more

We were told the wait was 40 minutes. We waited in our car for 45 minutes and our table was not ready. No worries because it's brunch. Chill time Sunday's right? WRONG. This is when the review goes left. The bar was available, so we all ordered a drink and sat down while we waited for our table. The manager came over and said that we had to get up from the bar because he had reservations for the bar. We all got up and had drinks in hand with no problem until we were standing behind empty seats. I proceeded to ask the manager if it made sense that I was standing up with a cup of coffee by an empty seat and he said the optics were not good if we were sitting there. That could mean so many things.....we waited about 15 more minutes total wait time 1.45 hours a young lady seated us and offered a complimentary carafe of Bellini because they understood that the manager was doing too much. By then, my appetite was non existent. I didn't want to make a scene. My only regret is that I was not treated well and I spent my money in this place. NEVER AGAIN. As a note, the bar remained open the entire time we were there. I was so uncomfortable and this has not set well with me since I left. I would encourage all to demand respect when you spend your hard earned money in an establishment . Atmosphere - B+ Parking - hard Apps - I had the oh no onion rings (spelling maybe wrong) but they might've been good will never know because my waitress was more consumed by the World Cup than checking on our app or refilling our drinks I did enjoy the chicken n waffles, chicken was breaded and out of this world. I tried the Charred Cauliflower tacos for $18. The filling came out on a large plate and then steamed corn tortillas in a separate container. Very good and flavorful option. The tortillas were a bit small in my opinion so I sort of just ate it bowl style. I tried one of my kids' fries (well more than one) and they were crispy, delicious. They did a great job accommodating a large group, kept our drinks refilled, were knowledgeable about the menu, and the kitchen got all our food out quickly. The salmon was incredible, they cooked it to a perfect medium rare as requested. The brussels were my favorite appetizer but the deviled eggs, wings, and empanadas were also excellent. Their menu does not mention that nor does their website. Even whilst paying with my card I was not told of the 3% fee. What a great place. The menu was incredible. Brunch all day? Why not? My friend got the French toast sticks and they were legendary, not to mention piled high with fresh fruit in all their glory. I got the black bean burger, which I can't say was my favorite, but the sweet potato fries (and regular fries, not pictured) were amazing. The mimosa was a perfect mix of sparkling wine and orange juice (who knows, maybe it was actually champagne!). We also got this masterpiece of a shot with several types of liqueur and a nutmeg whipped cream on the top. Never wanted to sip and savor a shot in my life. Lovely place, immaculate vibes. It is located in the heart of downtown, so parking was very tight. There is free street parking available, you just have to be lucky and find it. Be prepared for a little walk. I know what I wanted before I got there. I had to get the cereal pancakes with hash browns. The restaurant does have a wide range of delicious looking food options. Maybe I should have explored more and not be hypnotized by the pictures I saw of the pancakes. My food came out fast. I don't know if I hyped it up too much but it looked a lot better than they tasted. They were a bit dry. Don't get me wrong the pancakes tasted ok, but they were nothing special. You do get a super-sized serving though. Definitely not a destination spot, but ok if you are in the area.......mehhhhh! The staff there was friendly. Very solid brunch spot in Jersey City. My friends and I arrived around 11am on a Saturday and was able to grab a table easily without any waits. Our server was friendly and was quick to grab our orders. For our orders, we got a breakfast burrito (was able to replace home fries with french fries), french toast, hungry buddy. I'll say the food was as expected - good for price but nothing worth obsessing over. They also serve a decent amount of food so I was able to bring my leftover breakfast burrito back home to finish.
