We came here for Thanksgiving Family gatherings. Mchenry is a small town. I found Yelp and Google showed totally different information from opening hours, menu and review. Yelp reviews were outdated so we decided to update the one we visited. First they open 7am to 10:30pm on Saturday, and start selling breakfast to dinner. Service was good and staffs were friendly. Passion fruit lemonade was refreshing and interesting. Most people know Chicago pizza as deep dish. They actually also have crispy paper crust (aka thin crust). We ordered millennium park pizza that had Italian beef and hot giardiniera half half with thin crust. The pizza was delicious, crispy and super hot; you can see steams coming out from the pizza after a bite from the slice. Both of us bursted the word "Hot Hot" right after biting down the pizza :D When the bill came, we were shocked that it was only $26. We are from California and we had not seen $26 billing for 2 person for years! We definitely will come back when we visit Mchenry again. read more

New item at Buddyz ... mini deep dish pizza flights. You can order 3 or 4 from a list of popular options. 2 guys and myself ... the 4 mini flight was more than enough. The place was packed at 8pm From the minute we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming. The servers and staff were friendly and upbeat - they appeared to really enjoy working there. Emma was our server - awesome and attentive! Even made sure we knew how hot the giardinera was in the Italian beef selection "clears the sinuses " Emma kept us in the loop on our food order while checking to see if we needed any beverages. She also explained that this was their first night offering the flights and that the response was overwhelming the kitchen - in all honestly, we didn't notice the delay. The yummy appetizer of bread nuggets with marinara and garlic butter held our attention I was boring with my cheese only selection - very good The guy's favorite was the Italian beef / giardinera Sean the owner/mgr came over to our table to see how we liked the flights. Very good sausage pizza and very good margarita pizza. The only problem is we waited for 1 hour and 10 minutes for the pizzas and the place was sparsely populated. However, when we finally asked about our order the pizzas were immediately served piping hot. WTF? We're still confused why the wait time was so extended? We must have appeared to be 4 people who weren't in a hurry or no other plans for the afternoon. In any event, the food is good but will probably avoid returning unless we can order ahead. read more

I came for a visit in my home town and was missing a deep dish pizza. We had a cheese pie delivered. It was delicious! Buttery crust with some crispness, melted gooey cheese and of course those tomatoes on top! We had a family gathering a few days later and ordered a bunch of pies, some with thin crust and some with hand tossed crust. I must admit, I wasn't a fan of the hand tossed. Been eating Buddyz pizza at McHenry, IL and Ft Myers, FL locations for a few years. It is by far our favorite pizza! We love both the thin crust and deep dish, we usually get the "Mag Mile" toppings. We were guests at a gender reveal party yesterday that Buddyz catered. Italian Beef with great French Bread, Baked Mostaccioli, Italian Sausage, The best Chopped Salad Ever, and a Regular Green Salad with a variety of dressings, etc was served. This food was delivered by the owner himself who was promptly on time and super nice. The food was delivered hot and fresh and was delicious and tasty. I have actually eaten one time at this restaurant on a visit to Spring Grove to visit my best friend and enjoyed it very much. I am from St. Louis and wish we had this place in town. Ordered a Italian beef and hot peppers on the pizza last night. There was so much hot peppers it was inedible. I love them on an Italian beef but after 5 pieces of pizza I called it quits. All you could taste was the hot peppers.I mean it was really loaded with hot peppers. Someone needs to learn less is more! Each time I'm hopeful but the fact is that the place is run by people who don't understand the concept of, doing it right. The order is delivered wrong more often than correct. Their idea of a Chicago "Deep Dish" is a ton of bread and a micro-thin layer of ingredients. More similar to a round French bread pizza. I made deep dish pizza in college and so I can say, they miss the mark. Train your people. Have high expectations of your employees. And offer "Real" deep dish pie for more money if that's what it takes. I'd pay more to be happy in the end rather than not. read more

Found this gem somewhere while googling around for good pizza in the Mchenry area. Ive already tried a few places that I didn't personally like very much, Papa Sevario's and Rosatti's -- don't remember the other names of the places that i have tried, but it wasn't anything near as good as Geno's or Lou Malnatti's. With that being said, i decided to try this place. It was getting late, but their kitchen was still open so I took a little drive over there. They had a cute little outside dining area next to a moat of some sort. looked like it could use a little more rain to clean that sucker out -- but it wasnt part of the business. The bartender was super inviting and helpful when it came to any questions i had regarding their menu items and on-tap beer selections and even offered samples to make sure I would enjoy what i was about to pay for. very cool! as i waited for my pizza and sandwiches to finished being prepared, i had a couple beers and i saw a customer with some beer pastry of some sort. i asked about it and he offered a sample which i happily accepted. good stuff! so i added some of those to my order as well. The people in this joint were all super friendly -- especially the owner! just around closing time, he came out and offered everyone in the place free ice cream, I declined, so he bought me a beer instead. how awesome is that!! So i take my order back to where im staying, and open up the pizzas. not only were they beautiful, they tasted freakin great!! I don't know what kinda tomatoes they use for their stuffed pizza, but its delish! I highly recommend this place to anyone that enjoys a good chicago style pizza with a nice flaky buttery crust. Their sandwiches werent bad either. I was a little bummed that whoever packed my order forgot to add the giardinera that i requested, but they were still very good. I grew up in McHenry and there are plenty of Pizza to go places, but nothing like this. This is EXACTLY what McHenry needed, a fun pizza place where you can sit down and enjoy your time. My fiance and I live in Schaumburg (the mecca for chain-restaurants) and we really miss establishments like this. There is another location, but it doesn't have that chain feel. It is a really nice building and it smells GREAT when you walk in. I LOVE that they have WoodChuck on tap, most places don't and we really enjoyed our pizza. We got a medium, thin crust The Loop--olive oil base, garlic, ricotta cheese, basil, and tomato chunks. YUM!! Lots of flavor and very filling. We probably didn't need the medium, we both ate a lot and had leftovers. Definitely looking forward to visiting our hometown again and eating some great Buddyz pizza!! read more

When that was discovered, the staff gave us their immediate attention and made it a worthwhile night for our visit.
