This place is absolutely amazing! I can see why is has lasted since 1942. The prices are really good for what you get. The largest cone size, the skyscraper is HUGE! They don't have a ton of flavors but that is ok. What they do offer is pure deliciousness The shakes and malts are all a hit. There was a slight size difference on our visits but nothing to complain about. Highly recommended. If I had anything negative to say it would be to find an alternative for the styrofoam cups.

They take and make orders 1 At a time. They have quite the menu. I tried the smores parfait, it was fine. It's all outdoors with a walk up window. They have a covered area with picnic tables to sit at. Next time I will try the twist soft serve. The flavor burst machine was broken this day, they are waiting on a part. I don't even know what is so didn't affect me.

Opened in 1942, Budges is a Lafayette-area classic. Featuring burgers, dogs, soft-serve ice cream, shakes, malts, and sundaes, Budges is a local favorite. The burgers feature 1/3 lb patties, and they use Nathan's all beef hot dogs. My usual go-to is the cheeseburger and chili dog. They never fail to satisfy. When in Lafayette between May and October, Budges should be on everyone's dining list.

Best ice cream in town. Fast and Friendly Service. Lots of flavors to choose from and prices can't be beat. Thanks!

Cute little shop off the side of the road. Cheaply priced sweets, foods, and drinks. There was a long line after we showed up (around 6pm). It's pretty popular among locals of Lafayette. Seems to be the hangout spot for a lot of firefighters and cops in the area. I ordered the flavorburst ice cream with strawberry flavoring and there are a bunch of different options for the flavors. Pretty standard ice cream but it was still good! My boyfriend got the coney dog and the dog was well cooked and they even toasted the bun. The coney sauce wasn't as good as Dog n Suds but still solid. Nice place overall.

    A nice covered patio.

An excellent place for ice cream treats. Since 1942 this business has provided some delicious food and dessert. We loved our stop here today. I had a banana split with all the good toppings, cherries, and soft serve. My wife had a nice sized cone. They give you a fair amount of ice cream for a great price. This is a great family place. Nice covered picnic tables. A clean business with some friendly staff. I will go here more often. Food on the menu also. I can see why they have been in business for so long. A parking lot makes for an easy visit.

During that time, the couple at the table next to us got up and walked out after also receiving no service. We finally did the same. Seven people walked out within minutes of each other, and no one even seemed to notice or care. We completely understand being busy or short-staffed, but acknowledging customers takes seconds. We weren't expecting immediate service--we were simply expecting to be recognized after being seated. We never had the opportunity to order a single drink or bite of food. Unfortunately, we can't review the food because the lack of service made it impossible to stay long enough to try it. Extremely disappointing experience.

But I was visiting West Lafayette, and it was morning, and I was feeling a little "under the weather," as my Polish grandmother would say when she went too hard on the Bud Lites the night before. So breakfast at Triple XXX it was, because I could walk there from the Purdue campus, and this restaurant is a West Lafayette institution. I got the Triple XXX Breakfast Special: two over-medium eggs, bacon, fried potatoes and wheat toast. And it was good, you know? It was simple and hearty. I especially liked the fried potatoes. But what really took it over the top is when my server, who was incredibly friendly, told me that she could bring me some root beer jelly to go along with my wheat toast. Record scratch. Say what, lady? Root beer jelly? Yes, Triple XXX makes their own root beer jelly, and they also sell it by the jar. (I bought a jar.) They are famous for their root beer, which is sold nationwide, so I guess it makes sense that they would also make root beer jelly. It tastes exactly the way you would think it would. It tastes like root beer! It's delicious. The seating at this restaurant is interesting: All of the seats are bar seats, and they face the middle of the kitchen. There were no tables or booths that I saw, unless you wanted to go outside and sit at one of the picnic tables on the patio. I liked this seating setup, because I could watch the action happen before my very eyes. The black coffee was very good. It better be, at a place like this! This is the kind of greasy spoon restaurant where old timers stay a while with a cup of coffee and a newspaper. (There were three such people doing something like that when I visited, as a matter of fact.) It's just a comfortable part of the West Lafayette community.

I ordered a double cheeseburger with just ketchup to taste the burger alone. My wife ordered the peanut butter burger, and we ordered curly fries to share. My burger was great, the flavor and quality of the fresh ground steak makes a big difference in the flavor being so good. My wife is a fan of the peanut butter on the burger, and we both like the bun used. We both got root beer, which is a step above all other root beers I have tasted, which also probably has to do with quality ingredients. I am a fan of Triple XXX, and so is my wife. We will be back to try out the other menu items and breakfast!

As a wee child and teenager, it was the location of choice to celebrate birthdays and holidays. As a college-aged adult in training, it was the place to meet up with friends, share some drinks, and watch Jerry dance on top of the bar. Even now, as a married man in his thirties, living a ten-hour drive away, I make it a goal to enjoy Nine Irish Brothers once per year at the very least. When my childhood best friend of eighteen straight years passed away, this location marked the final stop in the bar crawl that was held in his honor. When another friend had bravely "come out" only to be to rejected by some of his religious friends, Nine Irish was the place where my wife and I were able to sit down with him over some Guinness and goat cheese fritters and show him how much we love him. The food and drinks are fantastic, and the memories are forever. Whether you've lived in Lafayette/West Lafayette all your life, you're new to the area, or you're just passing through, I cannot recommend this pub enough--no matter your age.
