We rented a Tesla Model 3 from this Budget location and later learned there was a serious problem with the right-rear tire. When we returned the vehicle, the return agent looked at the right rear tire and told us that, given its condition, the car should never have been rented to anyone due to safety concerns. "R/B TIRE" was written on the car's window upon return, apparently flagging that same tire. Renting out a vehicle with an unsafe tire puts customers at risk -- especially customers with young children. Budget should investigate how this happened, explain what its safety inspection found, and provide an appropriate refund. read more

I called and spoke to Xena and she insisted she could do nothing to help me. My scheduled pick up time was before 5 p.m. and I arrived at 5:04. She refused to leave the keys or even wait a few minutes after I explained that was my ride home to Chico. When I got there she was helping somebody else, and still refused even though she was inside the building. She literally left me on the steps with no way home because she refused to help. I had to rent a car because my truck broke down right before Thanksgiving and I'm up here visiting my daughter for the holidays. I usually rent from Hertz or Enterprise but needed to find something more reasonable since I was going to need the car for two weeks while we were waiting for a part to come in to repair the truck. Upon arriving at Budget, (it was not in the best area) I was helped by Star, who I was told is the manager. She checked me in and I waited for the car. A middle eastern man walked up and asked "are you waiting for me?" I said "I'm waiting for the car rental" so he walked me over to the car. I got in and it was a hybrid, which I'm not used to driving. I started the car but I couldn't hear the engine so I asked if the car was on. For some weird reason, he pushed his way into the car (he was standing next to me as I was sitting and the door of the car was open. He reached in and slid his arm across my breasts as he was "attempting" to show me something. I immediately pushed myself back in my seat and covered my chest with my right arm. He kept asking me if I knew how to drive. I said yes, I'm 63 and of course I know how to drive. He started saying something about me looking like I'm 25. He was making me extremely uncomfortable. When I reiterated how old I was he said "no, I mean your body looks like you're 25". He tried pushing his way into to the car again saying he was trying to show me the radio when I finally asked him for his name. He immediately backed up and said "I didn't mean to touch you!" I hadn't said a thing about him touching me but he was certainly trying to cover his ass. On the way back to my daughter's house I called and told her what happened. She called and spoke to Star and got part of what happened wrong. Star told her she was going to talk to the man and call back. When she did call, she said the man (I never got his name) said he was telling me that HE was 25 and that he never touched me. She also said he's been working there a long time and has never gotten a complaint about him. She's also middle eastern and he's most likely family or a friend. I'm a 63 year old, chubby woman. My body does not look like a 25 year olds body and his attempt at flirting, or whatever the hell that was, was completely unprofessional and absolutely uncalled for. He knew he was wrong which is why he said he was sorry for touching me. Star also asked me to come back in so the three of us could discuss it. I had no intentions of being near a man who groped me. Stay far away from this place if you're a female. I have no doubt he's done this to other women before. Star couldn't have cared less and totally believed what he told her. I have zero reason to lie and also wasn't going to say anything until I found out my daughter had called. I never asked for anything. I just explained to her exactly what happened and she believed him over me. I'll never go back to this location again and I'll be reporting this to corporate. This place is unbelievable, and the woman in the office should be held accountable by her supervisor. I rented a car for WORK and went to return the vehicle. The woman in the office left for lunch at 2pm with a note on the door that said she wouldn't return until 3:30!!!!! I caught her as she was leaving and asked if I could return the car, but she said "no" and walked past me! It's wild that they expect customers to wait almost two hours to return a car. This is during my WORK day. If I had been late returning the vehicle, you had better believe they would've had to pay the late fee themselves. Went to pick up and used the same card I used to make the reservation, that Budget had already taken payment from, for the deposit and was told it can't be used because it was a venmo card. Again, same card they had already charged for the reservation. The transmission went out in my car, Budget wouldn't rent to me and now it's going to take 7-10 working days for me to get the $400 they had already withdrawn. On the return date, Eliyas said I have to return my car with a full tank even though I showed him on the contract I bought the "Gas Service Option" and told him the manager told me I do not need to refuel the car upon return . He refused to acknowledge my contract and kept demanding me to refuel the car (which I did, to speed up the process) Then I asked to speak with the manager and Eliyas said the manager is out for the day (perfect timing). He later tried to charge me for a late return of $35 because he did not process the car on time due to our argument. Eliyas was very lazy and put zero amount of effort on trying to explain his reasons behind not acknowledging my contract. I'd steer very clear of this location. It's independently owned and operated and they do a terrible job. They put a hold on your credit card unlike other locations that just charge what you owe. When I arrived the owner had a room full of people and was ignoring all of them by sitting in the back. I was waiting 30 minutes. After They didn't have the car I reserved, and charged me to upgrade instead of offering the car I reserved which they instead gave to the lady behind me. I tried to work with them and asked for a different car, and although they had many cars on the lot, they would only offer something more expensive and less fuel efficient. This company is renting out vehicles that are unsafe to drive. BEWARE!!! I want to give zero stars. I rented a AWD vehicle with Avis on 2/5/2021 for a road trip with my young daughters to drive up to Washington. The guy helping me pulled the car around and it was a dirty 2019 Dodge Journey with a lot of dings and scratches and chips in the windshield. We did a walk around and I was pointing out the damage to the vehicle so I wouldn't be charged. It took a while and he was rushing me. The car was dirty inside and reeked of Marijuana so bad. I was in a hurry and had a screaming toddler with me, so I took the vehicle and decided to overlook the dirt. So we left on our trip and stopped over night in Oregon. The next morning the low tire pressure warning light was on for the drivers side front tire. So I filled up the tire and we kept driving. We had to fill the tire several more times to get to our destination. Also halfway through the trip the key fob stopped working. When we got to our destination my friend advised me that the tires on the vehicle were bald. I wasn't aware if that. Which is dangerous and we were lucky one of our tires didn't blow. I assumed a car rental company would rent vehicles that are safe for the road. I called Avis customer service and asked if I could trade the vehicle in and get a new safer car. The representative told me that they would charge me $500 to do so. So, I thought I was stuck with this car. I called again a couple days later hoping to get a different answer and the rep told me I could take the vehicle to trade it in at a nearby Avis for no charge. He said he didn't know why the representative told me $500. But I had to call around and find a car. I called 5 other local Avis branches and none of them had cars available. So I called back and spoke to 2 other reps. One told me I was screwed the other transferred me to roadside assistance. They said the would send someone to tow the vehicle I had and get me an Uber to take me to the airport to get another car. But luckily one of the local places called me back and said they had a vehicle. But I had to fill the tire up in the vehicle I had and drive in the snow (on bald tires) to drop off the old vehicle and pick the new one up. So I cancelled roadside assistance and drove to get the new vehicle locally. (BTW, just got a letter saying I am being charged $220 for roadside assistance that was never rendered, but that's another story) So I get the new vehicle (a new Toyota 4runner) drive back to California, drop the vehicle off and explained to the manager Starr what happened and how this has been a nightmare and she shrugged her shoulders and said "You should have called customer service." Ummmm, I did. Several times. Was she listening to anything I was saying?? Then she said "you should've called roadside assistance" Well, none of the reps gave me that option until I was 5 days into the rental. I also tried to call her branch, but was put on hold and nobody ever returned. But to make it right, she offered me a whopping $25 off for my week long epic troubles. This company is terrible. They are putting people in danger. I would steer clear at ALL COSTS. read more

After a week driving with Uber I attempted to bring the rental back as stated after a week of driving. 11/25/22-12-2-22 Upon arrival I made another reservation for a second car to continue driving with Uber 12-2-22 An employee at the counter said there were no more rentals and to continue driving the car I was using. Being this is my first time renting through Avis and on the Uber app, I assumed I could just continue driving but since Avis never started another contract uber said I had no car to use on 12-2-22. For two days I wasn't able to make money and on the third day when I tried to return the car and explain they said to bring it back on the 7th they attempted to charge me late fees. After a minute or two of arguing I explained to them that this was my first time doing this and they shouldn't have said to continue driving thinking I'd be able to make money. After I was told I'd only be charged $326 well on the 9th there was another charge for $250 and they said it was for the extra days I had the car and just because I couldn't make money on the app isn't their problem. Well if a new contract was started for the same car through the Uber reservation we wouldn't have this problem. I recommend Hertz from now on. They explained their contracts in detail and showed me where and when my payments would be due. read more

AAA took forever to come with the tow truck and my car was ready to go when I got there. "Easy Peasy." The reason for the 5 Stars is their cool under fire. When I arrived there was a customer already in the store who was being incredibly rude and combative. The two front desk workers were amazingly calm and respectful in dealing with this unhappy person. (While at the same time taking care of my needs.) I think it has been always a challenge to deal with the public but it seems to have become even harder since the shutdown. They send you away to the gas station for a second time if the gas gauge is less than a centimeter below full. They said the guy working there couldn't go fill up the gas because he didn't have his gas card. Everyone was super unprofessional. I give one star because there is an actual building. If you can avoid this location, I suggest you do. I booked a reservation online and in advance. I received email notifications confirming such. Prior to pick up I received a call to inform that my 1:30 reservation was moved to 3:00 because the reserved car wasn't returned yet. At 3:00, I called to confirm that the vehicle was available as promised. Wouldn't you? I was told that it was available and that I could pick it op before 5:00 and that it would absolutely be held until closing. After juggling ride shares to accommodate my day's commitments, Budget failed again. I arrived at 4:20 to the news, "your car was given away because you didn't come at 1:30". To add to the despair, the "lady" (manager/owner?) at the desk told me she'd been there all day, suggesting that the day's events didn't actually happen, as I courteously explained. No apology. Just "go to the airport " was her suggestion, like it was around the corner. If the airport was convenient, would I have left my lovely enclave to be in Arden? No. After multiple failures on their part and no real remedy other than suggesting a trip to what was probably "Oz" with another character who would deliver more news that left me a ride share deeper in expenses and still with no car... I removed myself from the strange, completely unprofessional experience altogether. What an internal debacle. The location, system and people are "broken." Don't bother doing business here. I waited just to get my truck for 47 minutes and then after we got the truck squared away I was informed the dolly I also rented wasn't there and would be delivered in 30-60 minutes. They literally asked me if I still wanted to pay for the dolly that they didn't have for me!!!! Then the truck we were given has someone else's garbage in it AND BEER SPILLED INSIDE the cab. Needed a car while mine was in the shop for repairs. I reserved an intermediate through the budget rental website and went to pick it up. They didn't have a car in the intermediate size, so they offered a free upgrade to a mustang. The car was clean and was a good driving experience. I interacted with the staff on 3 different occasions, each time someone different, but everyone was helpful and assisted me. No complaints, great service! read more

Went to this Budget because 2 Enterprise places as well as the Hertz car rental place did not have any cars. This place is run off of misconceptions, lies and deciet. "Suni" the gal who waited on me told me that if I did not return the car full I would have to pay $7.?? a gallon. Ok, that was clear. There was a personal crisis in my family, where a car was needed... but not to be driven for a long distance. I only drove the car 21 miles. Realizing that I used less than a gallon, and based on the information that Suni told me about Budget's gas tank policies... I knew that I would probably be paying around $5 for the gas. I decided this was best, I did not want to waste time away from my families crisis. Told something completely different upon return of the car. The gal at the counter now, Starr Alamdar informs me that since the car was not returned full, 7/8 of a tank, I have to pay $13 something!!! What!!! I told her that the Budget worker who rented me the car had completely told me something different. Starr did not care. Since I drove less than a specific amount I had to pay the $13+ dollars. Or I could go refill the tank up. I told her of my family crisis, and of the Budget policy I had been informed of... she still did not care. No customer service provided here. Made an online reservation earlier in the week for a moving truck, had to wait 45 minutes for service because the waiting room was full, finally get to the counter to check in for our reservation only to get told they have NO moving trucks at that location. Get asked "Did you call?" No, because I got an email confirmation reserving a moving truck at that location! Get told, "Oh this location doesn't have moving trucks." Then change your website so it doesn't say moving trucks are available! Had to leave and try and get a truck from uhaul on short notice. I've rented from here several times. Usually I get an upgraded car at no additional cost. Even when I don't, they have competitive rates for the area. They do run a tight ship - and it's because there is a lot of competition, and there are a lot of people (like the previous reviewers) that think for $30 they get to be treated like they have their own personal limo. It's a rough business, and people a lot of times try to get something for nothing, or special treatment. This rental industry does not afford charity. I've never seen anything about them picking me up - that's another brand. I've read some of the reviews and I think they are unfair. There's a clause about minimum mileage and a fueling fee - read it. I've read it and knew what to expect. Yes, this is an independent franchise - I think they all are. You don't get to pay the cheapest rates AND expect all the perks of a premium service. I've never had trouble, I've always received reasonable rates, reasonable service, and that's a lot more than I can say for the others I've traveled with. read more

They rented me a car with a leaky rear tire that cost me A LOT of dollar fifty air charges, and because I was in Elko Nevada, they wouldn't change out the car because they are privately owned. I her mother offered my credit card and was denied because has to be same name?How can they not return , or reverse charges to her debit. They weren't open on the day we'd made the reservation to return a truck (or the day before) and they don't allow after hours drop offs. We drove to every single Budget in Sacramento to try to return the truck, but no luck. The main headquarters has no idea when their locations are open and their customer service is unapologetic. The next day, we had left town, so we had to ask our friend to take a vacation day to drop off the truck for us- and they insisted on charging us an extra day.
