Budget is very deceptive in their practices. They quoted me one estimate for a rental car but charged me an additional $200 stating that I agreed to supplemental insurance but the front desk said that to decline I had to sign. The representative that dealt with my daughter , from the time we entered the store to get her car was rude, pompous, curt and copped an attitude with her. When finally I confronted him and told him we'd tell his boss, he had the audacity to admit he was the owner!! He also denied his attitude. Yet as he closed the deal - he slammed the keys down on the counter and pointed saying, there's your car! I was under the assumption that leasing a rental car fell into the category of a service. And If you want people to continue to use your service you ARENT rude. Decent location easily found on University. Had a 10am reservation today, arrived and had one person in front of us. The clerk obviously knew the customer in front of us as he immediately addressed her by name and struck up friendly and appropriate conversation...very personable! The clerk was a very nice guy with a bubbly personality. He was quick to get us checked out and threw in a little upgrade for us which we were appreciative of! The Avis/Budget facility leaves a bit to be desired - very outdated. The ceiling tiles are stained and mismatched. The floor was a bit on the dirty side...not the fault of the employee as the entire facility is being manned by a single-person. Parking lot is a bit rough and could be resurfaced. Price is fair enough and competitive with the local competition. Overall, it deserves 4-stars but the employee who checked us out today was stellar and he deserves 6-stars! We will be back next time we need a rental in Denton. read more

Unbelievably ridiculous. 30 people in line in the garage, no cars. Everyone has to wait for a car to come in and then you get a car. The counter guy said there might be a wait so he gave us an "up grade". He said we would get to choose any car. There is no choice, just the next car that is turned in. I went on Sunday 6/4 to swap out my vehicle as instructed by Budget Roadside Assistance and was refused by Dee and told if they took the car he would charge me for the "damage" done to the car I rented. After going back and forth with what was told to me by Roadside and what he wanted I left and drove in the unsafe vehicle all the way to DFW who were super wonderful and swapped my vehicle. Worst ever, I will never rent from budget/avis again, because of this one location. Dirty cars, hidden charges, rude employees. The employee there when I dropped off the car, even remarked (using curse words) that he wished people would stop coming in and just f**k off so he could get some work done. This Avis is by far the BEST Avis I've been to. As a frequent traveler and renter of Avis cars, it can be difficult to always find clean cars and personable staff. Jeff is absolutely amazing. He is very personable and a joy to interact with. He is the owner of this particular location, and he goes above and beyond for his customers. I will forever go to this location, even though there is an Avis location closer to my house. Thanks for being awesome, Jeff! We reserved a car to be picked up today at noon. We showed up at noon to pick up our car to see 2 other people waiting outside the store. They both had noon pick ups as well but the store was locked up. I called customer service and talked to Manny. I asked that they send someone to open up and give us our rental. He said no. I asked to talk to his manager so Manny transferred me to Ryan. Again I asked Ryan to please send someone to unlock the store doors and give the 3 customers standing outside the cars that they had reserved and already paid for. Ryan, very unkindly, asked if I wanted him to help me or everyone else. I told Ryan that one solution (sending an employee to unlock the store and give us our rental cars) would fix all the problems. He then called me a name under his breath and hung up on me. Do not use this location. They will apparently make a reservation, take your money, and then fail to be open when you show up to pick up your rental car. read more

I use this AVIS for personal rentals and for work. Jeff ("the clerk") is always nice and gets me in a vehicle very quickly. I must disagree with some of the reviews below, the cars I have gotten were clean and smelled nice, some even still had the new car smell. I like that they are open after 5 and on the weekends for ease of pick-up and return. I would certainly recommend this Avis/Budget to others! read more

This rental place used to be so so good back in old days until the new owner co budget with Avis then everything has changed ever since even the front desk assistants. The whole team has changed and as I have been using this regularly for nearly 10 years, it was so terrible, deceitful that I decided I would no longer use either Budget or Avis at this particular location. Upon check out the car, there were numerous marks on the car, the person did not walk through and said to return it the way it's you're fine! Nobt when I returned exactly the same way it was, he called back wanting to charge for all those marks!! Beware!!! Liar! Cheater! My rental at Avis began well enough. The online system was fairly easy to use to make a reservation, and I was able to get a nice weekend rate. However, when I went into pick up the car I asked about keeping the car another day. It would still be the weekend rate, but the extra day would cost me $43 (whereas the whole two days before that was only $53.) That didn't seem right so I asked the man (manager at Denton North Avis/Budget location) why the new fee was so high in comparison. He said, "That's what they're telling me." Then, he gives me a phone number to call and ask 'them' myself. I take the number and call. While I'm calling he returns to his office. The person on the other end of my call can't find my reservation. Turns out, he gave me the number for Budget and, as the man told me on the phone, they don't have access to any of the Avis information. I go back up to the counter and wait for the man to come out of his office. He asks if it worked and I told him what happened. He looks around the counter, but doesn't know which Avis number I should call. He asks if I have my reservation and tells me to get the number off that. As I'm dialing the number he tells me to read it aloud so he can write it down for later. I make the call and he goes back to his office. The Avis reservation center staffer who answered the phone was not helpful. She couldn't tell me what the rate for that single day was either. "We don't have the prices on here.. that's what I'm trying to get you to understand," she said. "That's what I'm trying to get you to understand." I ask her if their is anyone I can call to get the information and she says she doesn't know. I ask her for the normal weekend rate, whatever it. She says, "We don't have that information. I can't make that reservation and the reservation center." When I hang up the phone I tell the man what she said. He says I should try seeing if the information is online. I get on my phone and pull up the email. When I hit "Modify Reservation" on the email the Avis mobile site opens and reads "Rate not Valid" but won't allow me onto the site to change the reservation. I also can't access the non-mobile Avis site from my phone's browser. I ask the man (who is in his office again while I'm trying to figure this out) if I can use one of his free computers to access the 'normal' Avis site to see if I can modify my own reservation. He says he can't allow me to do that, but I can sign into the Wifi. Of course, Wifi of no my phone will still pick up the mobile site for obvious reasons. I decide to go out to my bags and get my lap top. When I return (and wait for the man to come back from his office) I ask for the Wifi code so I can check on the reservation extension. He doesn't know the password and for the next ten minutes we go through every phone number on his desk because he "knows it's one of the Avis numbers." Finally, we hit the right one and I am on the Avis site. I still can't find an explanation online so I tell the man to forget it and bring the car back when I originally intended to. This was a very frustrating hour. I wanted to do something I thought would be simple, or at least get an explanation as to why it would almost double the fee for one extra day. It seemed like information the manager of the location should know. But things didn't just fall apart with him. Should he have helped me by calling those lines himself? That's certainly how I would treat my customers, but I didn't mind calling the first person. I was still pretty okay with asking the second person. But when I was stopped at every turn-- when no one person/platform/site performed to what I think are pretty reasonable expectations I just gave up. A customer shouldn't have to go to five different sources to get one question answered, but when they do at least one of those places should probably be able to provide that answer. read more
