Brought my car here for some work. Acouple of weeks later I had to bring it back because the work was under warranty. A few days later I came back to check on it and he told me he had a mechanic on vacation but I was next. The next time I went down there he told me he had a bunch of work to catch up on but your next. Everytime I went down there it was a different excuse but always your next your next. The last time I went down there I find out someone had stolen all my speakers out of the car plus my Amp everything but the stereo. Then Mike tells me oh ya somebody stole a Sand rail too that belonged to a Riverside Deputy Sheriff. I finally came back and had my car taken somewhere else read more

2000 volkswagen was in shop for over year due to covid. I was told the towing would be free but it was included in my bill. I Paid over $900 and did not make it home. While driving on the freeway all the lights on the instrument panel were flashing. I had to pull off freeway. Mike advised me to return the car to the shop where it stayed another 6 months. This time I made it all the way home but then the car would not start the following morning. Mike advised me to drive 100 miles (even though it wouldnt start) and then return to him. In total I was already out of $1,100 for a volkswagen I paid $900 for. I decided to take it to another mechanic and was advised the on board computer needed to be replaced and that would cost another $600. This review is long overdue... I have been looking for a good and honest mechanic out in the IE to work on my 1957 Volkswagen. Came across Bud's on Yelp and decided to take my bug in to get looked at. Took it in with a major oil leak, timing was off, it would stall, and was running extremely hot. I have an '73 VW bay window tin top bus. Mike is the 4th VW Mechanic I've been through and I've finally found a keeper. I won't mention names, but there are definitely some unprofessional (if not crooked) mechanics out there. Mike is personable and professional. He talks me through what my bus needs and helps me in the decision making process (what needs immediate work, and what can be put off). He also sticks to his quotes. I had an electrical short, and he diagnosed it, called me with a quote, and though it took an extra half day, he gave me the quote price. In my experience it's been the exact opposite with other mechanics. He also wasn't afraid to call during the process to update and ask questions. Our old VWs are so specific and personal to so many of us, so to have a mechanic stay that involved is like finding a unicorn. I'm recommending all my VW friends to Mike from now on. read more

I've been dealing with Mike and crew for over a year. I bought a clunker (2001 Dodge Stratus) last September and Mike has helped me hobble it along for the last year until I could afford something new. His pricing is 1/2 what Pep Boys wanted to charge to get it to pass smog. He's worked on my other cars too, and has always done more than fair work and a better than average price. I drove more than 1,500 miles to make it here for a class and conference. On the way here my 2008 VW lost acceleration. Although I got here safely, trying to find an honest mechanic and shop was difficult. I called 3 shops and all 3 of them refused to talk to me over the phone. They would let me leave the car with them and discuss repairs needed so that I could not miss class. Fortunately I found Bud's and read their reviews. Mike answered the phone and worked with my schedule. I dropped off my car early in the am to one of the mechanics and called later and he gave a diagnosis, recommendations, and a timeline for the repairs. I know that if I took this car to a dealership it would have been costly...he made it affordable. He explained the work being done, gave me options and did not try to hard sell me. When the work was completed he was kind enough to make arrangements for car pick up. He showed me all the parts that was worn/damaged and had an list of all services done for my records. BEWARE, Mike Taylor is a dishonest mechanic and horrible at customer service. Wish I could give him zero stars. I brought my Isuzu Rodeo in for service to pass smog. I asked Mike if he serviced air conditioners; he said yes. Several days later when I picked up my truck, the air conditioning worked. A few months later it stopped blowing cold air. I called Mike and he told me to bring it back. I arranged a time to drop my truck off at his shop; Mike wasn't there when I arrived. I called him & he told me to leave the keys with his mechanic. I was given no paperwork. After 5 days of no feedback, I called Mike for a status update. He said a hose had blown & it would cost me $200 more to fix. I questioned his diagnosis & he replied, "these things just happen, I don't know how much you've run the air conditioning. It was working when you left the shop." I refused to pay the extra money & told Mike I would be at his shop in the morning to pick up my vehicle. The next morning when I arrived at Mike's shop, my truck was not there; it was down the street at his buddy's air conditioning shop. I was upset to find out that Mike had "farmed" out the job & did not do the work himself. I had to drive down the street to some off-beat repair shop to pick up my vehicle. Again, I was given no paperwork. Very poor customer service. Immediately after picking up my vehicle, I took it to a reputable air conditioning shop. I paid $45 for a repair estimate that confirmed the air compressor leaked. There was no "blown hose" as Mike had told me; in fact, the air conditioner blew cold air. I was told it would only last a brief time until the fluid leaked out. This was the exact problem I had with the air conditioner before I brought it to Mike's shop the first time. I called Mike and he wanted me to bring my vehicle back to him. I refused and told Mike that his "farm out shop" didn't fix it correctly the first time and then mis-diagnosed it the second time. Why should I trust him a third time. I asked Mike to give me the receipt for the compressor so the other repair shop could swap it out; Mike refused. I have filed a Bureau of Automotive Repair complaint against Bud's Foreign Car Service; in addition, I have filed a law suit against Mike Taylor in small claims court. Mike Taylor is a joke of a mechanic. He is dishonest & doesn't have the experience or expertise to repair foreign cars. read more

Thank you Mike! My car broke down on the way up to Vegas and insurance only covered a tow back down and my warranty only covered 60,000 miles unfortunately. I live in San Diego and had work in the next 2 days. Mike was able to have his shop tow the car there and fix the car (replace the engine) for an honest price no B.S. He was very straightforward and honest with everything and my car now runs great as of being in the shop for 3 days! If I can recommend a shop with some respect and honesty this is the shop.
