Technicians get a five star--they are polite, hard working, and extremely helpful. They go above and beyond. Management is confusing things. They had a bad answering service, so they fired them and now phones go unanswered. Bills are never sent. Customers are somehow supposed to intuit what they owe despite not knowing what services cost nor what services are performed. Appointments are scheduled via text message. There is no way to communicate if that works but often the technician doesn't show. Most of the time our technician is very kind and will let us know. But he's taking that on himself. He also lets me know my balance due. But, it is up to the service rep. We didn't always have such great, caring guys. read more

I am always thrilled when I work with this crew! The office staff are remarkable, pleasant, so kind and efficient and ALWAYS working to make things easier for me. I order several inspections a month so there is a lot of back and forth with us. The field inspectors will go the extra mile as well- explaining things, calling me at my convenience to answer questions and always always showing up on time. Buena Vista may be great at what they do but they sure don't return phone calls or reply to emails. I've sent a direct email request. I've called 4-5 times during their business hours and it's always a live answering service - I've left a clear request for termite service during each call and they've never bothered to contact me, via phone or email. I guess they're too busy to follow through and don't need the work or more customers. But it sure would be polite and professional to at least respond and say something, anything - like maybe they're not taking customers for the time being. I don't think they're permanently closed because they are paying for a live answering service. Just feels rude. read more

Wanted to share my experience with Buena Vista Company in case others have similar experience. Will keep employee names private here, but happy to discuss my feedback with the company directly. I have engaged with this company 4 times so far, and each time, it feels like I'm starting a new conversation with them from scratch. The employees who have come visited our property in person have all been great, but the follow-up and consistency with the messaging we get from the office staff is very poor. First inspection was conducted by an individual who said they'd get back to me regarding a previous inspection that was done on the house last year. Never heard back after 2-3 follow-up attempts both via email and phone. Second inspection was to help resolve a carpenter ant issue by a new employee. They did a good job resolving our ant problem, but had no idea about employee number one above when I mentioned I was having trouble getting a hold of him. Finally, I called the office line to setup an ongoing preventative treatment plan for our home, and was told that the company only does structural inspections and termite treatments. This directly contradicts what I was told by the second employee who helped with our ant problem. That employee told me that Buena Vista provides eco-friendly (kid and pet friendly) treatments for all types of "creepy-crawlies" ranging from ticks to spiders, ants, termites, etc. I was also told that taking down cobwebs around the property is included and the charge is $125 per visit every other month. The office person with whom I spoke to setup a schedule did not seem to be aware of this service at all and had to schedule a follow up call to address. Like I said, everyone I've interacted with is very pleasant, but it just doesn't seem like the company as a whole knows what its various parts are doing. Willing to give the company a chance to be my ongoing maintenance partner, but this experience leaves me wondering about the quality of service I can expect to get over the long term. read more

These guys did a pest inspection for a house i made an offer on. I called them a few days before I was to do a walk-thru of the property to ask them questions about the dry rot they noted. They committed to being onsite with me during that walk-thru. Come day for walk-thru, no show. I called to inquire about no-show, can't find record of appointment. I double-checked phone records, and I had indeed talked to Buena Vista Pest to schedule the appointment. I could have scheduled time with another pest inspector. So the guy I talked to either has issues with memory or is terrible at management- in either case, there is no way I will drop$8k on services with these guys, not reliable. read more

I don't recommend using one of their affiliated Field Respersentives Ronald H (Lic# FR53026 ) due to his rude vulgar comment " stick it lady" was his last comment after I was told I wasted his time. At this time his lack of respect was obvious," his time I stated, he cost me double what he makes". He had an attitude when conducting the inspection ( which does reflect on the company he works for and or is affiliated with ). He showed his lack of communication skills with possible clients. Ron became upset due to my interest and question about seeing where the damage was on the outside siding of my 2nd-floor townhome. Comment when asked to also poke the upper 2 planks "he wasn't going to be my monkey man ". I agreed he wasn't going to be anyone I could hire and asked him to get down, then the quote was torn in half. Today's visit (4.20.22) was scheduled with the knowledge that I was wanting a breakdown and to see where the damage was located when the appointment was scheduled. The first inspection was conducted by HOA then homeowners were given a quote. Ron forgets comments made in anger or arrogance can damage a company's reputation. REMEMBER possible clients have a right to question and or query how a quote was based and at no time should we be treated as we are over stepping or inconveniencing by asking. Maybe give the company another chance to send someone else? Not for me thanks. This company is beyond great. Are you looking for experienced, knowledgeable, and professional pest inspectors or general contractors? Look no further! I used Mike for a Pest inspection when buying my home and was refreshed to find that Mike has 30+ years experience under his belt in both residential Pest Inspections as well as being a licensed general contractor. I was lucky to learn from Mike that my home was mostly in good shape in terms of the pest inspection. I went on to ask questions about potential upgrades and fixes around the home and Mike patiently listened and gave me a wide range of options to achieve my goals! Fast forward several months I reached out to Mike to utilize his general contracting experience and had the following done: Drainage around a below-grade room - they installed a French drain system and cut concrete and installed a drainage trough / grate drain. They installed a sliding glass door, fixed all the terrible framing done by previous owner around the door; fixed surrounding drywall, textured, and painted interior around new sliding door. Laid new vinyl flooring and installed new baseboards. They also installed an 8x10 pier and post foundation for a new shed I'm installing! They likely did a few other little things I am forgetting about. This was done by Mike, Josh, and Antonio - they were all AMAZING. And all of the above was done in 3-4 days. One additional point about Mike and his team... they do work the right way - if you have dry rot, section 1 work (from a pest report), areas of concern - they will not cut corners - Quality craftsmanship 100%. my experience with this boss was nearing fraudulent. first they say free estimate, but it costs $400 for inspection. the inspector said the $400 would go for down payment. their notes to me rejecting me ended up in the spam folder. when i got in contact, i learnt this. when i tried to find out the specific reasons for denying the work, i was given the runaround with no specifics so that i might at least kow the reasoning for other contacts. now, the company that will now actually the tenting work is the same company with ATCO as for BV; but there was no problem with ATCO or the fumigation company, and there was no $400 charge for inspection. thus i am going with them. Since BV charged me for inspection for work they wouldnt subsequnetly do, and ATCO is using the same tenting contractors, i feel i was ripped off for $400. read more

Had the folks at Buena Vista Co come out and treat the perimeter of my barn for Subterranean termites. They did such a good job that when I had a hardwood floor buckling issue and suspected water under the house, I called Buena Vista yet again. The crew foreman, Gerardo, came out crawled under the house, confirmed my suspicions, and discussed drainage options. We decided to go with a sump pump on the exterior of the house, and a drainage scheme to draw water to the pump. They completed the work in just one day, were neat, and did a great job. I was referred to Mike by our Realtor when we purchased our home 3 years ago. During the pest inspection, Mike noted considerable water marks and moisture/drainage issues present under our house. We finally got around to having them fixed and called Mike for the job. He was quick to setup a time to revisit the issue and worked with me on the logistic and options for resolving the problem. We also wanted to level our sloping floors (probably resulting from years of moisture under the house) to which Mike said, "no problem". Jerry and his crew actually did the work and were courteous and informative during the construction process. I asked them a lot of question and wanted to be involved when decisions had to be made. They were great about that, and even waited until I got home from work to show me the days progress and finished job. Ultimately, the guys ended up installing a new beam, 8 posts, a sump pump system, and vapor barrier...all in 2 days!! They even leveled the floor within 1/8" over 13ft. I contacted Buena Vista because of an active subterranean termite infestation in our house in Sebastopol - termites swarming inside a room! I left a message yesterday, received a prompt call-back and requested they send Bill Mashek because a friend has had great experiences with him over the years, including recently. He came out today and demonstrated that he clearly knows about termites and the best treatment options. I did not have to request the least toxic method, since he said that has been his personal philosophy for years and that Buena Vista subscribes to using the most people- and environment- friendly products.
