I was craving filipino food, so decided to order something to go from here to give it a try. Lechon Kiwali - This was a thinner version than I had in the past, as I'm used to bigger chunks, but these were just as good! Nice and crispy! And went perfect with some spicy vinegar. Pork & Chicken Skewers - These were my favorite. They were tasty filipino bbq and I would definitely recommend them. They were prepared the same, so I didn't really have a preference between pork & chicken, so that's up to your personal preference! Lumpia - These were tasty and crispy. Standard lumpia and I could eat an entire plate of them if I let myself. Garlic Rice - Perfect accompaniment to everything! Since this was a delivery, I can't speak on the location or service, but I definitely plan on going back and trying some more dishes.
The #1 reason why my mom and I walked into this eatery was because we were exiting out of the California Botanic Garden in Claremont, and we were both craving Filipino food to eat nearby. I did a quick search, and this place was the closest one. First, as we entered, I noticed the place was very clean with large windows as the sun shown pretty brightly and warm at noontime. I ordered the pork adobo with veggies and white rice. My mom ordered the chicken adobo with veggies and pancit bihon. These two simple yet common, i.e. traditional, dishes were very delicious We were super-satisfied with the portions and the homemade taste. Also, I ordered the leche flan for dessert which was also fabulous. The young lady who manned the counter was super-nice to my mom and me. Customer service, even for a small, family-owned (possibly?) place is key for people to return. When we visit the botanical garden again, we'll be sure to stop by again.
Came here for the first time to pick up a meal on my way to Mt. Baldy. The Pompano plate was a good, healthy option and the lumpia was a perfect snack for the road. If you order over a certain amount they give you a stir fried noodle dish that was very tasty! Definitely a solid spot to hit if you're heading up the mountain and want something better than fast food. I'll be stopping by again the next time I head that direction.
I love small mom and pop shops! The parking is right in front, literally a couple steps from the front door. Walking in the place is a bit small, but clean and somewhat modern. The brown floors were a bit outdated, but lets just get to the food. I was sad that they didn't have a combo option for me to get 2 choices of meat for the Silog choices, so I ended up getting 2 different meals just to try. I got the logsilog (pork sausage) and tocilog (sweet pork) with garlic rice. The lady who took my order was nice, but I did end up waiting a while for my food to come out. I did visit when they first opened so it may be they were still getting setup or the food is cooked to order. The food decent, but it didn't hit as I expected it to. I appreciate it was a clean version of the Filipino food we come to know and love, but sometimes you just want that Filipino food that's like home cooked and may not be as 'healthy' for you, but just hits the spot. To be fair, it was delicious and filling, but wasn't that excited and craving for it bite after bite like other places I've been to. I would recommend this place to try at least once if you are in the area and looking for something that opens in the early morning. I was looking for a Filipino restaurant and this was the only one on the area that opened at 10am, so I gave it a shot. All other restaurants opened at 11am.
It's ok. Kinda pricey for the mediocre food. We got the chicken adobo with lumpia for a little extra. The adobo sauce in general was flavorful, rice kinda tasted stale, the chicken was moist. The lumpia tasted old too, not crispy at all. We also got the sisig with garlic fried rice and pancit. Pancit tasted like it had been sitting out for a bit in the heater, it was good with some lemon but for the price meh. The sisig was good minus the weird mayo they put on it. Overall I've had better Filipino food honestly. It wasn't horrible just wasn't amazing and definitely not fresh. Service was good everyone was nice, place is small and looked clean.
I had the Crispy Pata, Pansit Bihon and vegetables with cabbage. It was all very delicious and so much food! The sauces were great too. Service was great, you order at the counter and bus your own table. The only things I would suggest is a bathroom, bummer they do not have one. And it'd be nice if they had metal silverware when you're dining in, not a plastic fork, spoon and knife. I'll be back!
Wowee. Absolute killer of a hole-in-the-wall. From the pork adobo to the seasonal sinigang, Bulan serves straight-up homemade Filipino comfort food that's both accessible and insanely satisfying. Service is simple and no-frills. Order at the register, seat yourself, bus your table. The space is small, cozy, and genuinely homey. But let's be real, you're here for the food. They knock it out of the park on flavor and texture across the board. No misses. Easy 5 stars. I'll absolutely be back.
'Tis a rare occasion for me to get Filipino food. I don't crave it since I've had access to it my whole life from my parents or titas. Haha. Today was different though! My younger cousin wanted to go to Claremont to go thrifting and support some art friends having a booth. We stumbled across Bulan and ordered a tapsilog (marinated beef) with garlic rice plate for me and chicken adobo plate for her. The meat on both plates were sooo tender. Lumpia were THIN and I miss the rounder and stouter type. Compared to other Filipino dishes I've had, the meat had a subtle flavor here and wasn't overpowering with garlic and vinegar. I do love garlic and think my rice could have used more!

WOW!! This is by far the best Filipino food that I've tried in Southern CA. It's a small unpretentious but clean mom and pop resto in Claremont but the food exceeded my expectations. Ordered the tuna panga (tuna jaw/collar) and it was grilled to perfection. Got 3 good size panga and it was tender, juicy and well seasoned. The plate came with a side of lumpia and gal rice fried rice (you can pick other sides with the plate). I had to order their bbq pork skewer and it didn't disappoint. It was so tender, and flavor was spot on. Brought back memories from Cebu bbq. Service was quick and food came out freshly made! I highly recommended this place!!!
Our office ordered from here for delivery. I got the chicken and pork skewers which came with 2 sides. I chose garlic rice and pancit bihon. The chicken and pork skewers were good. It was flavorful and moist. The portion was also good and had a nice portion of meat on each barbecue stick. The pancit was fairly good and had flavor. The garlic rice was a little bit dry and had a very mild garlic flavor. The garlic rice seemed a little old and I probably will not get it again. Overall, the food is decent.

We happened to be in the area for some reason and really craved some Filipino food. The parking was hidden towards the side/back. The lines are hard to distinguish but definitely manageable. Plenty of space so complaints here. Upon entering, the restaurant was really clean, upkept, and had an incredibly delicious smell emanating from the kitchen. I see a nothing place with a packed restaurant, that's how I know the food is great. We ordered some pancit bihon, lechon, and some chicken adobo -- can I just say everything was pretty great! I will say I have a preferred spot back home but this was definitely a solid second spot in terms of flavor and value. The service here was excellent. Straight to the point, efficient, and friendly. I don't remember the cashier's name but she was running the front end of the store and the kitchen. 10/10 The restaurant itself is a tad small but there are enough tables to sit most customers down. The decorations are cute, and I love the fact that you can see through to the back of the kitchen. Everything looks really clean (again, great sign, especially in a restaurant.) overall, if I'm in the area again, definitely going back read more

I'm so happy that there are Filipino places within a few minutes of me, but I'm even more happy that there's a really good Filipino place within a few minutes of me. This place is very very good. Everything was just on point! It was probably the best Lechon Kawali I've had in years and I really enjoyed the chicken adobo; plus the portions were very healthy size. The lumpia was great as well. All good things about everything we tried. Absolutely nothing bad to say, no criticisms, no suggestions; everything was perfect. I'd highly recommend trying this place out. read more

fantastic filipino food. I got the beef plate with rice and egg. Friendly service great meal. I devoured the entire meal. no grisly fatty morsels. lived the sweet tangy sauce that comes with it. will have to try more menu items in the future. read more

Ordered to-go and everything was delicious! Recommend trying the lumpia and the pancit noodle as your sides. It was my first time trying bibingka (warm rice cake dessert) and it did not disappoint. It has a little bit of salted egg and cheese in it and has a mochi/pound cake texture to it. Must try! read more
I should say that when I first started writing this review, I came from the perspective of visiting my wife's Titas or Lola and the generous portions they normally serve. But then I realized that wasn't a fair comparison. I decided to visit this restaurant on a whim since it was close to my office. While the portion sizes leave something to be desired for the prices, the food itself was very delicious. The lechon was very crispy, and paired with the sauces, it was excellent. The grilled pork belly was delicious. I also ordered the lumpia and come on guys, you know darn well nobody uses that little sweet chili sauce. Nobody does. Service was good, the food was definitely fresh, and the location was clean and organized. If you're lurking here to see if this place is worth trying, I'd certainly recommend it. read more
Ordered several combos for pick up and everything was pretty good. I like that you have several side dish options like garlic rice and pancit. Definitely recommend the crispy pata as it was really crispy yet moist. The only item we did not like was the pork skewers as the meat was kind of tough and chewy. Lumpia was good, but might have been better if we ate it there as it wasn't as crispy by the time we got home. Small restaurant with only a few tables so I would not recommend for large groups. I've been wondering about this place for awhile when it popped up in my yelp feed. Seem like a small restaurant. Food is good not bad. We wanted to try the halohalo but their ice machine broke so we couldn't sadly. I would definitely come back next time. read more

New Favorite Filipino Spot! We used to get our Filipino food fix from Lumpia Mania (RIP, it's closed now), and honestly thought it was good enough until my Filipina friend insisted we try Bulan for the real thing. Everything was so good, we basically ate in silence, too busy enjoying the food to talk (which says a lot, because we're usually pretty chatty!). It was my first time trying sisig and I was skeptical at first, but I ended up loving it. Definitely one of my new favorites. Every dish we ordered was spot-on, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Can't wait to come back and try one of the silog plates next time. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic and seriously delicious Filipino food! read more

So through the many reviews and videos that I seen on IG, I had to come check this place out unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. I have a small little Filipino I guess store/I don't know restaurant in my area and I thought they easily gave this place a run for their money we ordered the squid which was tough under seasoned. It tastes way too fishy not fresh the fried pork leg extremely bland no seasoning could've been clean pretty well wasn't cleaned. If you know, you know if meat is clean properly it shouldn't have a kind of a rank taste to it. The best meal was the pork belly slices. That's what we ordered as well. The white rice was very dry. It was something that I did not prefer the garlic rice had a little bit more flavor. The noodles were good as well. The steamed veggies were fine. The lumpia was fine as well. Don't mind you I'm not saying this to be rude. It's my honest review and it was $65 for those three platters. They weren't overly huge portion you will see from the pictures so it is a little disappointing that a Filipino restaurant that charges those type of prices is not taking care of the quality of the food. But like I say, you try and then decide. read more

It's a hole-in-the-wall Filipino restaurant, but the food is amazing! It's so fresh and tasty. You can never go wrong . I highly recommend this place . The only thing that I can "negatively" comment is no "washroom/restroom. Otherwise , this place is a good to "go to" when you need a good Filipino menu from breakfast to dinner. Authentic Pinoy food in Claremont! Finding this gem made us so happy. We are pleased to report that their food is delicious. We ordered the pork barbecue sticks (which came with garlic rice and a few pieces of lumpia), lechon kawali (this was divine), sisig and crispy pata. Although the flavors were definitely there, the sisig just didn't knock it out of the park for me. I'm used to sisig being crispy but theirs had mayonnaise in theirs and didn't have much crunch. It's all good though, I'll probably just order other items when I return. I'm still a fan. The service is top tier. Filipinos will bend over backwards for those whom they feed and the family that owns this business is no exception. Kindness, value, good food - Bulan has all of that and more. read more
I dropped by for dinner after a long work day and was treated to delicious Filipino food. There are a few tables in this small restaurant, but it looks like most people take their food to go. When you arrive, you order at the counter, and the food is brought to you when it is ready. I did not have to wait long, and everyone there was helpful and friendly. The young woman at the counter patiently explained the menu items to a couple who came in with many questions. They were unfamiliar with Filipino food. I had the squid with pancit and lumpia. The squid plate comes with two sides. The lumpia cost a little extra because it was an upgrade. I also had a calamansi drink. Everything was delicious. I appreciated the smokiness of the grilled squid. It was cooked well without being tough. I look forward to trying their lechon and other dishes in the future. read more

1/8/25 My 900th Review, I wanted to highlight a NEW small business Filipino restaurant in Claremont. So happy Hubby & I tried this today! Granted, we're pretty harsh critics because we have had some of the best Filipino dishes (that does not compare to home cooked) ... otherwise it would've been a 5 star! Hubby compares it to Kainan sa Kanto (KSK) but this food is made to order whilst KSK is "fast food" or turo-turo which is already pre-cooked. I read one reviewer's tip to order ahead--that I did. Spoke to Sean (Shawn?) who kindly repeated it to me when requested. Was quoted 15 minutes. Drove out to pick it up (13 minutes) & then when we arrived, noticed the huge parking lot for the establishment. Food was ready in 15 minutes as quoted, SCORE! There are 4 sets of tables & chairs that are available to dine in. It's a small space with minimalist decor, clean. Adrian, staff member who brought out my order was nice & cordial. The payment kiosk asked if I would like to sign up for rewards (I said, why not) and Bam! Got 5 free pork lumpia, of course I didn't see this on my phone until after we drove away already-- maybe next time). First off, I want to impress upon the presentation & how beautifully packaged the plates were. I love the added touch of fresh banana leaves placed under the meal. Portions are a little bit on the smaller side but enough to satisfy your craving & hunger. The chicken & pork skewers are flavorful-what I expect from bbq sticks! I preferred the chicken because it was more tender & my teeth extraction sites are still achy & can't chew well. Both equally delicious. Hubby's pork sisig was really good but he said he prefers KSK. The pancit bihon tasted pretty good but it's just plain rice noodles w/o oomph to it-but the flavor is spot on. Four stars mean there's more room for improvements & I am definitely willing to see this small business grow. The proof is in the pudding, so to speak, we shall see. Heard about this place in the Claremont Connect Facebook group. I was starving for lunch so I decided to head over. You can tell this is a family operated place because I saw a little one back behind the counter ((smile)). The person who took my order over the phone was nice and gave me a precise time that the food should be done - please note I would call ahead as everything is cooked to order. I ordered the Pork Skewers with Pancit and Lumpia as my sides. The pork is delicious in flavor, tender and moist. The Pancit was a little salty and the lumpia are tiny but yummy. I'm partial to Lumpia so maybe next time I will just order the Lumpia see if they are larger if they are in their own order. Service was quick and welcoming. There isn't a place to dine here... there are chairs that you can sit on as you wait for them to prepare your order. Parking is on the side of the building as well as in the back. Place opened fairly recently near my work, I wanted to try their Chicken skewers plate ($15). They serve silog all day which is breakfast platter of garlic fried rice, 2 eggs, and a protein of your choice. For my sides, I chose pancit bihon and veggies along with my chicken skewers. The chicken was moist and juicy and a good size. The pancit and vegetables were fresh and seasoned nicely. Wait time is a bit long since they grill to order. No tables to eat inside, it's a to-go area. The staff is nice, parking lot is a good size. read more

Amazing silog and genuine Filipino food in Claremont! Stopped by to see what this new Filipino food place was all about and Bulan did not disappoint! Delicious authentic Pinoy flavors. Tried the cornsilog, longsilog and the tapa. All had very garlicky fried rice, jammy fried eggs and homey longanisa, corned beef and beef tapa. They all tasted like silog you wake up to eat early in the morning at lola's house. Had a bite of the spaghetti and this one is proper Filipino spaghetti. Sweet, creamy and a nice rounded tomato flavor. Brought me back to the potlucks and parties in the neighbors houses during pista back home. The star for me were the drinks and dessert. Halohalo is proper halohalo with all the mix-ins. Leche flan, sago, nata de coco, ube icecream and ube halaya. The gulaman tasted like something you get from Mister Siomai, chewy, cold and refreshing. Finally the calamansi juice was tangy and sweet rounding out a deliciously umami meal.
