The food is pretty good for a fast casual place and it's nice to have a Korean option in the area, but it's quite pricey

I love korean food and there aren't many places in the area but Bulbap is my go to for korean rice bowls. They are full of flavor and have amazing service and quick with orders. My personal favorite is the Jae Yuk Bowl. The korean fried chicken is also amazing as well as the wings they are always packed with flavor and are super crispy! Definitely check it out! read more

Bulbap is a fast casual Korean place located in a strip mall next to Home Depot and Shop Rite. Came here for lunch on a Friday. Bright, clean, inviting interior definitely gives off vibes of a newly opened joint. The menu is diverse with offerings ranging from rice bowls to soups to korean fried chicken to burgers. Most dishes are $9+ but the serving sizes were large. I ordered the bulogi rice bowl ($9) and had leftovers. The rice bowl was tasty yet healthy with a colorful plate of orange carrots, green spinach and brown meat atop a canvas of white rice. All the dishes were made to order, but came out very quick. First off, if you are looking for an authentic Korean place...this isn't the place for you. It will surely disappoint. You ever wish you didn't go out to spend money on food? I ordered here for the first time with my office. It was delicious! I ordered the 'Grapefruit Tea' which tasted very fresh and very much like grapefruit. Not too sweet at all but not too bitter either. For my main dish, I ordered the Bulgogi Bulbap which is "Bulgogi (beef) rice bowl topped with sauté spinach, shiitake mushroom, carrots, squash and onions. Served with side of chu jang (Korean red chili paste)." It didn't looked like a huge portion but it was packed tightly and I still had leftovers. It was delicious but I wish it was a tad cheaper. Back again on a Wednesday for 20 wings/$5! I usually get the boneless with yangyum sauce(bomb!) and the soy garlic is pretty good too, similar to the one at BonChon. They have other specials throughout the week too, so it gives you a chance to try out different things on the menu like the tacos or burgers. read more

Quick eats, but high quality food. I ordered the Bulgogi Bulbap, Korean beef over white rice with shiitake mushrooms, carrots, squash, and kimchi. The meat was tender, and juicy. The portion was perfect for dinner, and I left full and ready to go back. Their menu is real diverse. Besides the bowls they have tacos, burgers, and apparently some really good shaved ices. Pretty much the only Korean-ish restaurant in the area and I was pleasantly surprised at their food! My family and I are Korean so when we heard of a Korean restaurant in our neighborhood, we had to try it. We ordered a soondubu, bulgogi burger, and two stone bowl bibimbap. We also ordered a small order of wings. After talking to the owner a bit, they sent over a complimentary order of dumplings. The soondubu wasn't the right kind of tofu, and so was more of a tofu soup but my father enjoyed it just the same. The meat in the bibimbap was a bit sweet and I wish they would have told us that we could add on an egg (even though it is written in the menu), because it would have be a nice addition. The bulgogi burger, which was the only non-traditional Korean dish we ordered, was sweet but actually tasty! A little small but I preferred that to feeling overly stuffed. The wings weren't our favorite, as the sauce, again, was sweet but it was still prepared well. The dumplings were made with glass noodles on the inside, just like how my mother makes them, a little lacking on the meat but had a good taste. I just had lunch at Bulbap Grill, and I was really impressed with all of the really tasty food. This informal, cafeteria-style restaraunt is fine for eating there, among the numerous tables or for take-out. They are located in the Shop-Rite plaza on Route #9 North, next to my favorite Chinese Restaraunt - Grand China, in Marlboro. For most of us in the states, Korean food is generally only found at a Korean Barbecue, where the food is cooked at your table, and there is so much smoke and garlic, that everyone knows where you ate for days! Some Korean barbecues don't have English menus or English speaking waitstaff, which makes eating there a daunting task. However, this new place has food that is Korean-Soul/Korean-Mexican, and just plain Korean fusion. There are Korean beef short rib (galbi) tacos, which were rich, savory, and mind-blowing, really. Korean fried chicken, wings or nuggets, redolent with red pepper flakes and spices. Korean fried chicken, yes that's a thing, has a paper-thin skin, and a coating that is super crunchy. They have rice bowls with your choice of beef, pork or chicken, mixed with crispy vegetables, various sauces and an egg, called Bibbimbap. Try the Pajeon, a Korean savory pancake topped with your choice of; kimchi (spicy cabbage),scallion, various cheeses, and your choice of proteins. To quench your thirst, they have in addition to the usual suspects, house made flavored iced teas. I had grapefruit, which was a nice complement to my tacos. They have several other fruit flavors as well. Signs announce their soon to arrive dessert called Bing Soo. A shaved ice, snow-like treat, covered in fresh fruit, syrup, an other toppings. Not usually seen around here, although common in Asia and Hawaii. Everything is in English, as well as Korean. Clearly, they are appealing to locals. The countermen were fast and friendly. Finally!! Korean food in Monmouth County! Tried takeout and dine in here. Both were great. Bibimbap, spicy chicken and bulgolgi bowl are all great. If you want a more authentic Korean cuisine, don't come here. this restaurant is overpriced and not as flavorful or large in portion as other restaurants out there. I think it's worth it to drive an extra 30 minutes away to Edison and get Korean food there - it's cheaper and tastes a lot better (but if you're up for the drive, you can also drive the extra hour to Palisades Park). They don't even serve you the food (you have to go up and get it yourself) and the prices still don't match the quality of the food whatsoever. read more

All I can say is finally!...a place that makes amazing Oriental food!...the food is flavorful, delicious and very good portions. Been here three or four time now. It was so-so in the beginning but it is the only Korean place in our area and the Korean Fried Chicken has been consistently good which keep us coming back. In the latest visit, it seems like this restaurant has got every thing right in my opinion. $27 combo with two rice bowls, wings, and drinks is a solid deal. Portion size seems right - it felt kind of skimpy in the first few visits. Try a bulgogi burrito and it was great - definitely fill up my belly :-) All in all, i think this place is great addition to the area. Great location next to a shop-rite and home depot.
