The decor is very fun in this tapas restaurant. The service is good, and the menu has a nice variety. I was there at brunch and noticed their sangria pitchers looked amazing with loads of fresh fruit. I specifically enjoyed the shrimp on their menu and hope to return and try their paella on their dinner menu next time. The only kind of negative thing I would say is it is a little spendy for the portions but for the ambiance and the quality I still would suggest giving it a try. read more

Service was slow. Food was okay. Ordered the braised pork hash and grilled octopus salad. The hash was unusually sweet and quite oily. The salad barely had any octopus in it. I also ordered the lavender margarita which just tasted like lemonade. I got churros for my birthday with a card signed by the staff. Celebrated my recent birthday here and it was a fantastic experience. The food was amazing as always, and service even better. I recommend getting the grilled octopus as your appetizer. It's nicely balanced with corn puree and topped with flavorful garnish like parsley. The Mediterranean salad was a bit salty on some parts, I couldn't take more than 4 bites, so that was a little sad. I love Bulla! I have been a few times now after my girlfriend introduced me to it for a girls' night. It has a romantic atmosphere, especially at night. Dimly lit and beautiful. It was nice easy to catch up, the restaurant noise is not overly loud. I've also been for lunch and it's a great place to meet up for a leisurely lunch. Next up, I guess I have to go for happy hour and brunch to get a true assessment on the atmosphere. The food; however is why I love this place. I have yet to not like something on the menu, but obviously there are some stars. Bonus if you go for lunch is their lunch special. You can choose an appetizer and lunch sized entree for just $15, and for an additional $5, you can even add a dessert. Some foods that I've tried: salmon carpaccio (LOVED, very light and refreshing. I loved the tart flavor of the dill vinaigrette), ceviche (get it with the wonton strips, you're welcome), truffle carbonara (so indulgent and flavorful), ARROZ CALDOSO (definitely my favorite thing that I've tried so far). To be honest, the only dish I've had that didn't slap for me was the steak paella. Service-wise, has been inconsistent. For the most part, I've always been greeted very warmly. However, there are definitely servers who know the menu and have a happy demeanor and I've had a server who was maybe having a bad day. But the worst part was when we asked him a question, he didn't know the answer, but instead of checking he just said that he didn't know. We asked if he could find out, but he didn't awknowledge our question and just walked away. So, we took that as our cue that we shouldn't get dessert but rather get our checks and leave. I met up with a couple of coworkers here for drinks and dinner on a Friday night. Since this place is located in the Renaissance Hotel, right in the heart of the Legacy West area, parking was a bit tight. When we arrived around 6 pm, it wasn't too crowded. The interior has a modern, artsy vibe, which was nice. Our waitress was very friendly and explained the tapas style of the restaurant, recommending we share a few appetizers before our main course, the steak paella. I don't remember all the appetizers, but they were decent. The only letdown was the octopus dish --the octopus meat were small and limited. However, the paella was excellent, packed with tons of flavor. Overall, this is a great spot for meetups and date nights. The tapas style is perfect for sharing and trying different dishes. Not fully grilled, slimy, and unknown aftertaste. Ham Croquettes- 6/10 Overfried, coating not burned, but close to it. Seafood Paella- 2/10. My wife and I went to lunch for our anniversary. I had very high expectations given their very high ratings and a glowing recommendation from our daughter. Our meal was an absolute grand slam. Truly amazing in all regards. We each had the 2 in 1 lunch menu for $17. I had the margarita flatbread and pork bowl and my wife had the lentil soup and veggie sandwich. All was great, but you must try their flatbread. Superb. Stefani was as sweet as could be, and provided great service. The manager checked on us and I mentioned it was our anniversary. She came back later with an anniversary card signed by everyone on their staff and comped us dessert. That's a first for us! We came here hoping for an experience similar to one in spain and were blown away by everything we ordered. We ordered a bunch of tapas to split. The food came as it was ready which I really liked as we always had enough room at the table for all of our dishes and could really savor and enjoy each tapa. No matter what tapa you order you can't go wrong. While we didn't order any paella I saw a bunch of groups around us order it and it looked amazing. I had their white sangria and loved the peach flavor that it had. One of my friends had the red sangria and said that was good as well. The service here is pretty slow. I made a reservation for 6 on a Friday at 5 pm. We arrived around 4:50 and it was pretty empty as I'm sure people were just getting off work. When we were seated, we noticed the staff standing around talking and laughing for 15-20 minutes before bothering to come take our drink order. When the waiter finally arrived at our table, I asked about the happy hour specials that I saw online. He informed us that happy hour was only good for the bar area, so we proceeded with our drink orders. Approximately 10 minutes later, he returned to our table and stated that he was incorrect and proceeded to tell us about the happy hour options. From there, the service started to pick up and our appetizers and drinks finally began to arrive with ease and the waiter redeemed himself. My suggestion for this establishment is to make sure your staff is fully aware of all specials so they don't have to go back and forth to their colleagues to acquire this information during the middle of servicing their customers. Overall, the experience was decent and I'll probably return a second time to see if there is any improvement in the service and update this review accordingly. read more

I love food from Spain, Paella and tortilla española are must haves for me. Only thing is that in DFW it's difficult to locate good Tapas/ Spanish restaurants that offer great portions and fair pricing. This restaurant is one of my favorites in Legacy West. We came during happy hour, which runs from 4-7 PM. If you sit at the bar, there are some happy hour tapas. However, you can still get the happy hour beverage pricing if you can't get a seat at the bar. I always get the sangria blanca pitcher every time I come (and I save around $20 with HH!) -- we asked our server if they could make it with less sugar somehow, and they were able to, and it still tasted amazing. The restaurant itself had a good amount of seats indoor and at the patio. We sat at the patio, and it smelled a little funky (almost like a bathroom), but this was our first time experiencing this at the patio. My favorite tapas are the cannelloni and the ceviche de jalapeño. The cannelloni is so flavorful and delicious. The ceviche is amazing -- I get this every time. The only dish we didn't enjoy was the shrimp stuffed jalapeños. It was a little too wet, and I just didn't think the flavors were that special. The tuna tartare is also good, but I think I would rather just get the ceviche since it has more flavor to it. The bulla burger was also very flavorful! It is pretty sweet, but it worked well with the burger. It is recommended to get a reservation if you can since it can get a little busy, but I think this is the perfect place for a date night or a nice dinner out! read more

I came in and we had a reservation for two. We got a table that's kinda in the back of the bar and kinda secluded. However, I'm here for the food and the service. Cage wa sour bartender and he forgot about us for like 7 minutes, needless to say Daniel the manager and Henry came to serve us. I bartend and serve as well so I appreciate when people come to use to apologize when they are slammed. We had amazing service from Henry and awesome attention from Daniel the manager. It means a lot when we are acknowledged as clients when it's been a while. Food came out quick, and it was delicious. Seafood paella was amazing. It's enough food for two to three. Came here for a girls dinner on a Thursday evening and had a great time! Was a bit disappointed in the service as it seemed slow but once we placed our food order things seems to move pretty quickly! Started with the Charcuterie Board which was great. It had manchego cheese, chorizo, salami, olives and toast crisps. We also ordered Patatas Bravas which were really good, they were hot and crispy and had a nice spicy kick to it. Our server convinced us to order the Bacon Wrapped Dates but those were honestly just okay. I'm not a big fan of dates in general and this was just too sweet for me. Got the Ham Croquettes which were good, no complaints. And then the last item we got was the Grilled Steak which I really enjoyed, it was accompanied with mashed potatoes (I think?). My favorite item was probably the ceviche and the paella a close second. The ceviche was very light and refreshing with a little kick. The paella had plenty of seafood and did not disappoint. The pescaito Fritos was really good as well, particularly the fried fish. I personally didn't care for the croquettes and meatballs but everyone else really enjoyed it. Croquettes were very creamy and didn't have enough mushroom in it for my particular taste. We were extremely hungry so some items didn't make the pic cut lol. My wife and I decided to try a few small plates with our sangria during late afternoon on a weekday. The restaurant was about half full and was clean and spacious. The service was quick and attentive also. The sangria was good but could've used a tad more fruit flavor and perhaps more visible pieces of fruit. Overall, it was still good and refreshing but didn't have the traditional sangria look and taste. All three small plates were excellent. The oil in the shrimp dish was nicely infused with garlic slices. Although the bread that came with the plate was just average at best, it was good when dipped in the garlic flavored oil. The shrimp was plump and of good size and quality. The shishito peppers were well prepared and tasty. The flatbread was light, crispy, had a good ratio of toppings, and perfectly baked. Overall, Bulla is a very nice place to stop by for some tapas and drinks. The prices are reasonable, especially if you're in the bar area during happy hours (5-7pm on weekdays). read more

We stopped in for a mid afternoon snack. They have a spacious place with a sizable bar. We chose the bar for quicker service as we were not rushed but also not wanting to linger long. We each had a Bougie Palmer, which is a vodka Arnold Palmer jazzed up their own way with peach lavender. It was delicious and super easy to drink. We have been fortunate to have visited Barcelona, so we know tapas. Bulla is tapas - and really good at it. We ordered a semi soft cheese, the Iberica ham, and the tuna tartare. All were delicious, and the Iberica is really the star - meaty, aged, fatty, just a delight if you enjoy these special meats. Our bartender was friendly and helpful when requested. Another place on my list for Restaurant Week, and this did not live up to my expectations. Beautiful area, visually appealing restaurant, but I definitely thought I was going to be impressed judging by the ratings and reviews I had seen previously. The curated menu didn't have the paella on it which was kind of disappointing but I wanted to stick to what was on it. It automatically comes with the sangria which was watered down. Sadly. For the appetizers we got the patatas bravas and the margarita flatbread. Both were VERY GOOD! We were happy with these choices. For the main entrees the waitress recommended the brisket because of how large the portion was and how flavorful it is. We also got the steak and broccolini. Now I was definitely surprised by the portion of the brisket, it was flavorful as she mentioned but it wasn't tasty to me. The brisket was cooked nicely but I didn't enjoy the flavors. I didn't expect it to be like a stew. The steak and broccolini had a gravy on it and my husband didn't like that either. Probably would've been better if the put that on the side and allowed people to pour it on there. For dessert I tried the coconut flan and my husband got the churros. The flan was alright - I thought I would taste a lot more coconut. They serve it with a fruity sherbet which I think paired well, but overall it just didn't satisfy my craving. The churros were fresh and came with a side of dulce de leche and a watered down chocolate. To be honest, I wouldn't return. I had high hopes and was disappointed. read more

Disclaimer: I have a love-hate relationship with tapas restaurants. I understand that the goal is to have more of a social dining experience over a period of time, not really to get full, however I want to get my money's worth and small plates add up. I came here Saturday night at 7pm with a reservation. I was quickly seated. The ambiance here is lovely, and the place was packed! I was immediately attended to by my waitress who was really nice and friendly. I ultimately ordered the house old fashioned, (later) a Manhattan on the rocks, the meatballs (three in the dish), the montaditos (brisket on a small French baguette x four), and the garlic shrimp. All of the food was good, however I expected a bit more from the sauce on the meatballs after my waitress literally said it was "life-changing". It was not. Nonetheless, the meatball itself was really good. The shrimp were definitely the must have out of everything I ordered. The old fashioned has chocolate in it, which while subtle, can definitely be tasted. It wasn't bad, but if I had to choose between that and a regular old fashioned based on taste, I would go with the regular. The Manhattan with Woodford Reserve was $17, while the old fashioned was advertised around $14. So why 4 star rating? Although I noticed the staff helping each other with bringing out dishes to other tables than theirs, I waited for a long time to get a refill on water. People passed my table repeatedly, including the manager who was stopped at every table but mine to check in, all while I sat there with finished drinks and an empty water glass. Even when neighboring tables were having their water glasses refilled, the other servers passed by me without a care to offer a refill. So much for teamwork. I don't know where my waitress went but she was M.I.A. for a while before coming to bring me my check. The overpriced drink, yeah ok. The high-priced small plates, yeah ok. The $70 bill before tip for one person, yeah ok. But sadly the missed opportunities on the service in the latter half of my experience kept this from being a perfect review, as it was not a perfect experience. read more

Montaditos were everyone's favorite. For me the huevos bulla were a close second though since I love a good truffle oil. For dinner the waiter talked to the chef and said no problem adding some shrimp to the steak paella we split. Paella was solid. Steak cooked perfect. Ambiance was good. We were shown to our table right away and the vibe was nice. Solid wait staff that didn't mind helping us decide on which apps to get and went above and beyond with our paella. Service- Friendly server and she gave us really good recommendations for (next time) since we both just had salads and cocktails Food- My kale caeser salad was so good it did have so much cheese as you can see from the pictures but it was delicious with a side of steak and I think the croutons are made from scratch.
