Went last evening for the advertized "Amazing Happy Hour with Dee Farace and Matty Kahn 5-8". Entertainment was AMAZING, but there was alot of confusion on when Happy Hour is. Got there for 5, asked for and offered Happy Hour menu, no problem. Friend meets us at 5:40, server gets to us 5:47, tried to place Happy Hour menu order with response "too late ordered needed to be placed by 5:45". Again, Happy Hour was advertized 5-8!! Friend ordered from regular menu only to find out the table next to us who came in after 6 were offered the Happy Hour Menu. Whats up with that?? About what drinks are offered as an Happy Hour Drink Special, ONE, draft BUD!! The one bright spot about last evening was the amazing entertainment, Dee and Matty... read more

Would make this my local spot if I lived closer. Huge & delicious portions. We had steak wrap, oysters, crab cakes and ahi tuna. 22 drafts and a large cocktail menu. Incredibly pleased with everything we ordered and definitely worth the short drive from the boardwalk. read more

It's great you folks have been around forever, and right there near IBSP! Living 8 miles away it was my 3rd trip in a few years. The food is awful, but bar crowd is the pull. A lot of nerve serving your food at those prices. Corned beef was shoe leather and fish was poorly cooked for 29.00. Cmon guys you can do better for the locals ! Used to be good place back in the day!! read more

Food was awesome here. Service was great. The menu has so many options. I believe our servers name was Steven , he was awesome. Really cool atmosphere here , especially during the summer time. Highly recommend getting the Stuffed Shrimp. read more

Good restaurant to grab a bite to eat after a day on the beach. Service was was prompt and friendly.

First timer. I have seen this place passing by going to Island Beach State Park multiple times. I wanted to try it there for a while, I think I stopped by one night a couple of years ago, we were hungry and they told us the wait was over 40+ minutes so we decided not to dine there. Today we finally stop by there. Since it was around 2:30 pm on Saturday place was semi-empty. Perfect time for lunch there. Seated us right away. We asked what was their popular item on the menu and they told us to get a bucket with a mix of seafood called NJ Shore which had a lobster, about 4 crab mid sizes (no outer middle part shell), potatoes, corn which was enough for 2. We also had crab dip with nachos. Overall food was okay, nothing special. But the service was great, they make us feel at home. Got messy as usual eating seafood, one has to open all the seafood with cracker and all. They provided us an empty bucket to throw the shells, plastic apron to wear. The crab dip was okay, maybe we should have ordered crab cakes instead. It was too cheesy and drowned the taste of crab. Overall we had a semi-satisfy experience. We will return to try the other stuff on the menu like fried items or burgers or entrees if we are hungry after/before going to the beach. read more

We were really impressed with the outdoor dining. Had a great meal and great service. My daughter had the chicken salad and I got the steak wrap, both were delicious. Great place to eat after a day at the beach. read more

Walking in the door put a bad taste in our mouths. My friend and I went in to put our names on the waitlist and the hostesses were rude. They were talking to one another and when I went to go and give them my name there was no greeting or sense of welcoming. We were told it was going to be a 40 minute wait, which is FINE. I understand the popularity of Bum's because I've been coming here for years, but the way the said it was quite condescending. They gave us dirty looks and kept talking to one another. My friends and I all work customer service and I could not be more disappointed in how we were treated. The highlight of our visit was our server Jared. He was absolutely amazing and could not have asked for better service in that regard. Everything was correct, cooked well, and overall a pleasant experience. I knocked off a star because of the hostess situation. Not because of the food or our server. We will be returning, I just hope we have Jared read more

Our mouths were watering for crack-your-own-crab and Bum Rogers was recommended by a local. It is one week 'after the season,' so there were just a few customers. We ordered the crab in butter, garlic and lemon, which the menu touts it's the crab which made them famous. How could we go wrong? The small crabs arrived in a deep pan along with two red potatoes and two sections of corn-on-the-cob and a light coating of sauce on the paper protector in the bottom of the pan. We were each given a cracker, one small wood mallet and a tiny plastic fork plus regular-sized knives and forks. There was virtually no way to remove the small bits of meat from the small crabs. It had no flavor. In our opinion, the crab was either overcooked or old and possibly both. Once served, no one came to check on us. When the server showed up, we complained to no reaction. We paid the full "Market Price" of $49.99 for two partially consumed small crabs. If Bum Rogers is good, it must be during the high season, but certainly not one week later! read more

Great food service was the best very attentive waitress. The Jersey shore dinner was more than enough.

First time at White Sands Beach and we looked for a good place for dinner. Stopped by Bum Rogers as we love good fresh crabs. And we got it! Great steamed blue crabs - fresh and well cooked. Other food was great too: lobster steamer combo, rack of ribs, tuna steak and garlic shrimp. We were 10 people and everybody just loved the food. The atmosphere is great and it feels like being home with good friends. Hope to come back soon! read more

Arrived for a party of 12 and the two receptionists (who are about 12 years old) forgot about our reservation. Told us that the big party that's been sitting has been there for a while and they can't tell them to get up. Honestly I'll never come back to Bum Rogers. They sit us at the smallest table for 12 and one of the tables was broken. So as I'm sitting the table is resting on my lap. They didn't really care and the guy at the back bar was rude. Upset we had to spend money here for my moms birthday. Bum Rogers is absolutely ridiculous and not worth the hype. This place is probably as good as a McDonald's with a working ice cream machine. Cheap and not worth the drive. read more

Bartender Emily was incredibly rude during our stay. Didn't acknowledge us when we sat down and was rude when we asked for menus. Barely checked on us when we sat at the bar. Service was dry and not worth coming back. Will not be back. read more

A local staple. Good seafood choices. Tried the lobster roll . Very good but not best. My date had the fish tacos and loved them. Service was efficient. Prices fair. Place is clean. Could use an update in table settings. The wall seating( continuous) is ripped and needs to be replaced. Could be very uncomfortable if busy(tables are too close) in these Covid days. Table covers are ok but Spartan - they use paper to cover tables. Not a place for a romantic dinner but serves good food at reasonable prices. Place is chopped up. Looks like a second bar in back with limited seating. Main bar has lots of TVs to watch your favorite sports event. If we lived nearby we would put this place on our list of places to visit from time to time. read more

Disappointing Take Out We got take out from here tonight. Pretty Simple ...2 orders of white sauce and clams . One with linguine and another with rice. We asked then for salt , napkins and utensils. We got napkins..no salt , no utensils. The order was rice had less than a cup of rice and a small portion of clams with two thin slices of bread on top that was not even toasted . For 20 bucks a serving nothing else was included - no salad ,nothing. I get this dish often when I'm visiting a seaside town and this was by far the most disappointing. With so many places trying to stay alive you would think they would do a better job . I understand that with this place you are paying for the atmosphere but even when we placed our order - who ever took our order was very short with us . We tipped the Covid 30 % and by the time we got back to our hotel it was too late & too far to ask for the forgotten items. read more

Very long wait for app and dinner. Prime Rib came out lukewarm and looked like it was not freshly sliced. Asked to have it warmed properly, and it came back after the other guest had completed their meal. Lobster tail was good bit slightly overcooked. Won't be rushing back. read more

Food was decent, but the lack of safety for Covid was ridiculous. Our waitress had her mask on, but the rest of the workers had them on, but with their nose exposed. What's the point??!! The manager/owner was walking around without a mask on. The bar was packed at least 4 people deep. A table of 8 was literally standing over us without masks while they waited for their table. The 4 adults didn't even have masks on, just the 4 kids. We were extremely uncomfortable and quickly paid and left. If I didn't know better, I would never think we were in the middle of a pandemic. We had hoped to find a restaurant that would suit both the seafood and non-seafood eaters in our party. The menu did offer good variety, and that is where the positives ended. The table was very dirty, I had to wipe melted butter from my seat before I could sit down. There was an empty lobster tail under the table, which is gross - but did give us all a chuckle when the dirty tail inspired the 6 year old to order 'whatever comes in that shell under the table'. Our party had 8 people, we ordered the shrimp cocktail and the crab balls to start. Just ok. The appetizers were not accompanied with plates, though appetizers plates did arrive when the appetizer platters were cleared....then left on the table. I had the lobster bisque...yuck! The menu said it was award winning....perhaps for worst bisque. Incredibly over floured, far too sweet and thick as peanut butter. I did however find an actual piece of claw meat - so I'll give them that much. Our party had 3 burgers, an order of stuffed shrimp, an order of chicken fingers, the shrimp & scallop scampi, a kids fried shrimp and my surf & turf with crab topping. I have no idea what that cook did to my steak, the menu claimed it was filet but it was clearly not. I ordered the filet cooked medium rare - it was downright grey inside. It came with no steak knife and was tough, so my butter knife didn't stand a chance. I had to ask the busboy for a steak knife. When he delivered the knife, held by the blade in his hand, it was dirty. At that point the rest of our party was done eating, and I just let it go. I wasn't going to eat what they were passing as filet anyway. When the server asked if I'd like a box, I said 'no thank you, the steak was severely over cooked.' She just said ok and dropped the check. No offer to correct the issue or to adjust the bill. Overall, filthy and serving mediocre seafood. Please save yourself the same fate and eat somewhere else. If you do eat here, may the odds be ever in your favor. read more

WOW this place has gone downhill. I first went here when my now 33 yo old son was 6. First the hostess asked if we wanted to sit on the sidewalk, we said No, she seemed surprised but I was really surprised when less than half the tables were occupied in the back area. We ordered appetizers and drinks. The drinks arrived quickly as did the appetizer, of course they dropped the food and ran away. This left us with food but no plates to eat off, I had to flag down a busser, that seemed confused by my request for small plates. When ordering, I asked what kind of veggies were included, all I got was "I know there are carrots and something else". We ordered both meals with veggies instead of rice. Both meals arrived with rice. We sent both meals back The Garlic Shrimp espanol came back they removed most of the rice and zero veggies. The broiled seafood platter arrived with a small amount of rice left on the plate and a lot less veggies than the people at the table next to us. Btw: we couldn't order the crabs because they had NO Crabs at the crab house. The skinny mojito was good but would have tasted better if you muddled the mint(which I did with the straw on my own. read more

Pulling up to Bum's your greeted by pretty much what you'd hope a crabhouse would look like. Friendly staff. Tables are covered with paper, all set up for ripping crabs apart. Very varied menu priced in line with srafare in the area. The place has some beachy atmosphere and is comfy. I was there early with their day just starting, and ooks like a fun place for couples, singles, and family. I had the crab cakes which were done just right. Mild flavor with minimal filling, and pan fried without any thick batter. Quality food & presentation. read more

Eight People trying to eat diner on a Saturday night....the wait was only 75 minutes, and the table was actually available earlier than expected. Two of us hung out at the bar while we waited for the table, the rest of the group was back at the house cleaning up and getting ready...when the table was ready early, everyone walked over and we sat down no issues. The Bum's Award Winning Lobster Bisque (cup for $9) was incredibly tasty...well worth the price...large pieces of lobster, very rich and flavorful. My wife ordered the Bum's Famous Garlic Crab (Fresh crabs de-aproned smothered in garlic wine and spices... these bad boys put us on the map) -- they were very tasty, tons of garlic, but honestly the crabs were quite small, not sure they were worth the effort to get to the meat - but the flavor was on point. read more

Got to Seaside NJ at 830pm and looked for a place to eat thru Yelp. We find Bum Rogers Crabhouse with a really lively and inviting exterior. Few outside seats with a live band inside jamming to some Lenny Kravitz tune. Food was good portions. We ordered the New Englander which was a big pot of seafood. Yummy!
