The thing that I've found confusing is that I've called them and left messages at least three different times, first a couple of years ago and then again recently. I have yet to get a call back. These guys are the best. After being told by Orangatan that I needed a new compressor and another part replaced that"under warranty for labor and parts" was going to cost me $1500, Bumblebee's tech came out and found that the compressor worked fine and the cost of the other part was all i needed. The cheating folks at Orangatan said that the cost with free labor and part would be $958 due to additional uncovered expenses. Bumblebe found the part under warranty and with labor, and the other uncovered expenses charged us $700. I will go with this local HONEST company from now on and so should you! read more

After a great deal of research and a request for referrals for an AC repair company we decided to call Bumble Bee to inspect and maintenance our unit. We couldn't be happier with our choice! We just closed on our home and we knew that the AC unit was fairly old and would likely need replacement soon. Bumble Bee scheduled is within a week even during the peak busy time and massive heat wave in the Valley. The tech was friendly and knowledgeable. He let us know the unit was 20 years old and would likely stop working soon. He suggested either keeping it until it quit or replacement. We decided to go with replacement and are using Bumble Bee to do so. Lisa has been working with us on that and is so nice and helpful! She has answered all of our questions and has been patient with our decision making process. Our new ac will be installed tomorrow! I fully recommend this company! read more

Was sitting here at home yesterday working when I notice my AC was no longer blowing cold air. Naturally I panicked. Weekend coming up, hotter than blazes outside. So I called 3 different companies to be sure I was going to get someone in the next day or two before I turned into beef jerky sitting in my living room. Had an A/C issue, and called a different company for a service call. After a short conversation and about 15 minutes on my roof, they suggested a replacement unit. I felt that given that large cost, a second opinion would be prudent. I called Bumble Bee, and spoke to Lisa on the phone for about 15 minutes. I provided her with the info. from the other company, and she gave me with an over-the-phone estimate that was a good bit less, and scheduled a tech to come verify needs. Chris the tech came, and after checking things (about 20+ minutes on the roof) and a good detailed discussion, we decided to clean/service the unit (something the other company did not give me as an option) before replacement, saving me (in the short run, hopefully for 1-2 years) about $6k. It may still need replacement, but after discussion with both I felt I was getting honest information and good service - maybe wishful thinking to avoid such a huge expense, but we'll see if there are still problems. However, as stated, I felt as if I was dealing with straight-shooters. If I do need to replace, they'll be my call. One item I forgot about - Chris wore his mask for the entire time of his visit - appreciated, along with the other things mentioned. Definitely recommended. read more

[Disclosure: some years ago I wrote a favourable review of this company. This is a second review related to their new warranty programme]. Bumble Bee has been my go-to a/c company for several years. We had a home-flood event a couple of years back due to the condensate not being piped away, [homeowners insurance covered - phew!]. BB a/c took care of things and installed a breaker device which would shut off the system should it happen again - thereby preventing flooding. In June, after my usual PM check up, I opted for their warranty. Last night the breaker tripped. I contacted the company this morning and they'll have a tech here by noon. Does the warranty system work well? I don't know yet - watch this space. Fingers crossed. read more

Usually when I read a review, I am still a little skeptical. I have to say choosing Bumble Bee Air Conditioning to fix my A/C didn't disappoint me. First off, I called Bumble Bee and spoke with Lisa. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable on the phone. I instantly had a very good feeling. I explained my A/C problem and Lisa said it could be one of two things. It wasn't more than an hour or so later when the technicians arrived at my home. I explained the situation and right away Ryan and Bronson were up on the roof to inspect and diagnose the problem. I was presented with an itemized list (with prices) for an indoor fan motor, contactor, and coil cleaning. I was also shown a detail picture of what was wrong and how nasty the coils were. Ryan explained how the cleaning would be done and also informed me that he found the fan motor replacement at a very reasonable price. I was like OK go for it! Have you ever had service men come over and say that they need to go get a part etc...and sucker you by their hourly rate, gas or mileage fees. NOT Bumble Bee. They are honest, fair, professional, no up-selling, and no "I'll tell you what, we have a special..." type of BS. While one technician went to pick up the part(s), the other was up on the roof, removing the bad parts, cleaning the coils etc... As soon as the part came all that was left to do was the install and they were done. At this point I was shown a picture of the end result. Ryan went above and beyond his original quote and cleaned out the condensation line that was clogged and cleaned the condenser coils at no additional cost while waiting for the part to arrive. I'm not someone that writes reviews. I personally called Lisa to express my all-around satisfaction. I use Yelp to find a lot of the businesses I use. I find that the reviews are very valuable and help me make good choices. Since I use Yelp to FIND companies, I do a lot of reviews myself. I want to pass along the information and help others. When you sit down and review a company, it is hard to picture that you are not only talking about the company, but the owner. Most of the time I would say, so what? If they lived up to the hype, I write a glowing review. If they fell flat, I rip them a new one. Plain and simple. Business is business. But it is hard to understand that with little companies, you are not only ripping the company, but the owner. Most of the time, I really don't care. Why should I care if some fat cat owner got their fat wallet hurt by what I said? I don't even HAVE A JOB, so BOO HOO I hurt your feelings. But once in a while something happens that fall outside the bounds of the norm. When I reviewed Bumble Bee I was not expecting any answer. I was DEFINITELY not expecting a refund. Let me repeat, my first review said I WAS FINE WITH PAYING THE TRIP CHARGE, I WAS NOT EXPECTING A REFUND. So when Lisa offered me one I was skeptical. I thought, sure you want to give my money back to shut me up. Make me change my review. So I agreed to meet Lisa. Get my money, run... end of story. But something happened I was not expecting. I saw in Lisa's eyes, her face, her body language. She was not just trying to shut me up, she was genuinely disappointed. I could tell this business is very very small, and it is her families whole life. There is pride in this business. They may not be big, but they take great pride in being good. They are the company that actually CARES. When I ripped her apart, it wasn't anger, it was hurt. I took a shot at the most valuable thing she owns and cares for like a family member. She wanted to meet me not to make me quiet, but to apologize and explain. The most amazing part... she still wanted to work with me! I think this shocked me more than anything else. I figured she would be glad to see me go and never come back. But instead she comes up with a future plan of attack and prepares me for the many steps to come. I learned a lesson here. If you are a customer who likes working with "mom & pop shops" like I do... You need to be a little more aware of your actions. I didn't write a bad review of Walmart... I trashed Lisa and her husband. I did it before she had the chance to explain. I did it before she could fix it. This may be ok for Walmart, but it isn't ok for a company this small. I love the little guy. I love the underdog... so why was I so willing to trash them, well that was simply me not thinking about my actions before I hit send. So Lisa, publicly I do apologize. I am impressed with how you reached out to me. I impressed I got my money back. I was fall down on my face shocked you still wanted to work with me. I look forward to it. About a month ago I had Bumblebee come out to my house, it is a rental and my daughter lives and manages the house, we rent by room. My daughter texted me that the air went out around 8am in the morning. So I wen to Yelp and started reading reviews, I was leaning to go with one of the big air conditioner companies in Phoenix which constantly advertise on TV. However when I checked their Yelp reviews the big AC companies had mediocre reviews even though their TV ads were pretty good. I checked out the top Yelp AC companies in Tempe Az and their was several with really good star ratings. Bumblebee reviews, not just the ratings, were fascinating to read, it really sounded like the owner's of this company knew, understood and practiced customer service, it wasn't just words. Anyways I emailed my daughter the several AC companies I was looking at on Yelp, she read the reviews and also decided on Bumblebee. Bumblebee came out to the house around 1pm and stated they needed to go into the house cause the AC problem wasn't on the unit on the roof. My daughter had left instructions to Bumblebee dispatcher to call me 30minutes before they reached my rental home and I would meet them but the dispatcher didn't relay that information, luckily the Bumblebee service technician (I believe it was Steve, but I am not sure of his name) had my phone # and texted me that he needed to get into the house. I thought it was awesome that the AC technician would text me instead of leaving, I texted the Bumblebee technician it would take 30 minutes for me to get their and he said he would wait. After arriving at my rental I opened the door and the Bumblebee technician found out it was a faulty thermostat, I payed something around $180 dollars for the new thermostat and to have it installed, which was what I was OK with. However this is where the problems began, I asked Steve for a receipt (btw I was really impressed with Steve or what ever his name was, he gave me a biography of his work experience and what I was impressed with was that Bumblebee wanted and recruited the best technicians, which I consider awesome). I asked for a receipt, the problem was Steve couldn't give me a receipt then cause the billing company for some technical reason wouldn't allow Steve to email me a receipt, because of this I gave Steve my personal email address and he stated he would email the receipt later. After a couple of days waiting for the receipt and not getting any I called Bumblebee and the dispatcher told me they would relay the message to the owners, which I believe is Lisa, I said OK. However about 2 weeks went by and I had no receipt, so I called the dispatcher and told them I wanted a receipt that day or I was going to write up a bad Yelp review. I got a response very quickly from Lisa saying a receipt would be emailed to me, however I got no receipt, it turned out Bumblebee had been emailing my receipt to my daughter and not me, after this got cleared up Bumblebee emailed me an invoice which I finally got; again there was a problem because on the invoice there wasn't anything which could be plainly seen by the IRS or my accountant that the invoice had been payed. By this time Bumblebee was texting me and I was texting them and I was actually receiving several invoices in my email so several people at Bumblebee must of been trying to get me a receipt. I texted Bumblebee that the receipt was totally inadequate, that what I wanted is an invoice emailed to me with "Payed in Full" clearly stamped on it, some thing that the IRS would understand as a receipt. This was during lunch hour and I guess Bumblebee staff/owners were out to lunch but they said they would do this as soon as they got back. Within about 30minutes of Bumblebees text about being at lunch, I got several receipts with "Payed in full" stamped on it in my email. Lisa then texted me that the billing software and company, they had just recently gotten, fulfills all of Bumblebees internal accounting requirements, however she said my case clearly showed that they need a new billing software/company and she assured me they would fix this problem for future customers. I tell this story not to discourage people to call Bumblebee, but quite the contrary, please call them they are a excellent company. It is very very very rare that you have a company that is truly concerned about their reputation and the service they provide each customer. Even though I had technical billing problems with Bumblebee, once they realized the problem they bent over backwards to fix it, it truly was a breath of fresh air to me. I wish this company ALL the SUCCESS in the world it was truly amazing to work with them. read more

I live in Calif and my son lived in the Tempe, AZ house while attending ASU and after graduation. When he moved, I had some rennovation work to do, including the heater. I called Bumble Bee to do the work after reviewing them here on Yelp. They showed up when they said they would (ok, he was 10 minutes early); He figured out what was wrong with the antiquated heater and fixed it at an unbelievably fair price; He provided me with a very fair quote for a replacement when this old system kicks the bucket as I requested; In short, they provided me with excellent service at a very reasonable price. I decided to call Bumble Bee A/C because my previous A/C company has been out to my house many times to fix my A/C issues on a 7 year old unit. replaced some minor things with it, but it always tripped the breaker when it would cycle through after the last repair that the other company did to my unit. So, looking at Yelp I saw that this company had 5 stars consistently, so i decided to give them a call. A nice lady, Lisa answered and I explained to her the situation and told her that my previous A/C company told me the compressor seemed to be going out and would need to be replaced at a cost of $4,000.00. When I explained to Lisa this she said she urged me to send out a master technician for a second opinion. So, I said OK. She advised that the price was $69.00. I said OK. The next day a tech, Jimmy, came out and looked at our A/C and found the issue. The previous company had wired the contactor incorrectly causing the breaker to switch off. After he fixed it he checked everything else and was HONEST and said my A/C unit was perfectly fine and didn't need to be replaced. I was floored by this that he was honest and didn't try to rip me off. ALSO, he left and never charged me the $69.00 AMAZING! fixed someone Else's mistake and didn't charge me. THEY ARE my new A/C company. BRAVO! read more

Great service and people do deal with! AC broke over the weekend (in July). I had another company out who told me the AC was shot and as old as it was, should be replaced. They were great to deal with as well but wouldn't be able to get to it until 2 days later. Bumble Bee AC came recommended and I called them for a second opinion and estimate. Jimmy went the extra mile and squeezed me in to check my AC on a Sunday and agreed that repairing the very old AC was not recommended. They were able to get the new AC in the next morning and by 1pm they were all done. The estimate I received was the pretty much the same as another company, reasonable and competitive. The level of service, professionalism and friendliness was top notch - the kind that is hard to come by these days! read more

I will be recommending this company to everyone I know! Whether you need help or not, it's so hard to find honest people these days. Not only was this the first company I called, it was the only company. Sometimes you can hear the sincerity in people's voices. After speaking with Lisa over the phone and talking with Jimmy in person, I just knew that whatever the diagnosis was it would be legitimate. I was told it could be one of two things...the starter or the compressor. Both were on opposite ends of the spectrum as far as cost goes. I feel that with my lack of knowledge with AC units many other companies would have told me I needed a compressor. Luckily, my problem was the least severe of the two and it was fixed in no time. Tech came to the house and looked over the AC unit. Fan was not working on AC, but the compressor did. He concluded the blower fan was bad for 500 plus. I got a second opinion as that fan motor was pretty expensive. Found out it wasn't the fan, it was the control board. The Fan did work on heater. He should have checked out both sides. read more
