I called and ordered a battery about 3 weeks ago, offered to pay while I had her on the phone. She replied "no, you'll receive a link to pay." No mention of prepay. I immediately received an order confirmation, and a copy of the warranty.... no link for payment... so I had assumed I pay when the battery is ready to ship. Today, I get a text saying they're still waiting for prepayment, I reply I never received a payment link. They haven't even begun the process of getting my battery ready. Three weeks waiting to hear the battery is ready to ship, and they haven't even started it. If the service is this bad at the very beginning, I think I'll go somewhere else before spending $3,000. read more

Getting in contact with someone is more difficult than it should be. Expect to be on hold for 10-30 minutes if you give them a call. If you choose to leave a message, no one will get back to you. The online chat isn't actually an instant online chat, it looks like it automatically sends them an email but again, don't expect an email back. I was able to get my question answered but the process to get a simple question answered is a trek. I had initially reached out to them in January 2022 about getting sent a new hybrid battery under warranty and they told me they had a delay with the freight shipments which makes sense but I didn't receive the battery until OCTOBER 2022. My car started to crap out a few weeks ago and luckily not months ago where I would've been out of luck. So if you need a battery asap I hope you get one a LOT sooner than I did. I had reached out intermittently throughout the year about the status and NO ONE answered the entire time. The only notification I got was from Fedex letting me know I had a shipment coming at the beginning of October. I even tried finding the email interactions from January '22 and I cannot find them whatsoever which is super odd and it's as if they were retracted because I know I did not delete them... The only good thing is that they were able to pause my warranty while I waited for the battery to come in since my warranty was supposed to end March of 2022. **Update: I received an email letting me know there was a transfer of ownership lately so things fell through the cracks during that time. It's good to know the reasoning behind why no one was answering but I feel like multiple months is way too long for customer service to be down. read more

When I learned that my hybrid battery had died and that the dealer could replace it with a new one for $11k, I thought my car was a goner. But then it occurred to me that there must be workable used batteries in need of new homes - which led me to do a Google search. I found there are services that will swap out dead hybrid batteries with refurbished hybrid batteries - for 1/4-1/3 the price of a new one. Stay away from these guys. They are in the middle of a reorganization and apparently their customer service and quality control has suffered as a result. I ordered a DC/DC Inverter from them for a 2013 Honda Civic. It lasted about a week then died again. Now they are trying to get out of a warranty exchange, saying it's my MPI and not my inverter. But according to their website it comes as a complete assembly: Free Shipping. No Core Fees. We are now carrying the Inverter and DC/DC Assembly for the Honda Civic Hybrid 2012-2015. These parts have been meticulously rebuilt and tested for your peace of mind. They come preassembled with the DC/DC, inverter, and computer for easy installation. The MPI is the computer. Then when I try to call them about it, you can't get ahold of them. they say they are closed, and it's 3 PM on a Wed. afternoon. Buy from GreenTec instead, their prices are a little higher, but so is their customer service and quality control. read more

Called to get quote and ETA on 1/25 said it would only take a day or two to build as they were not busy, which was fantastic since I needed it ASAP. Placed order on 1/29 told it would take 7-10 business day. Not ideal, but I understood they must have got more orders in. Received the battery on 2/21... 23 days later. I was unhappy with the lack of communication and extra time it took to get my car up and running. Sent the old battery back on 3/4 (mind you same state and it gets there next day) and didn't get my core refund until 3/20. I had to call them as apparently the refund had fell through the cracks? The battery itself is working just fine and the price was better than anywhere else, but I am very disappointed with the customer service. read more

My sweet old 2007 Prius gave me the red triangle of doom last week. After it was diagnosed that the main battery would need to be replaced, all our arrows led to Bumblebee Batteries. They fit us in ASAP. We were in route to bring it in but I felt uncomfortable driving it at such a slow speed. After I called to let them know it would be towed in, they called back to double check the car symptoms and offered to send a technician to us right away if we needed. June 11, 2020 - I phoned BumbleBee Batteries to inquire about the expected $500.00 Core Deposit refund. According to my notes made immediately after the call I was told that the old battery pack was eligible for the Core Deposit refund and I 'should get notification by email tomorrow and refund shortly thereafter'. 7 days pass June 18, 2020 - I phoned BumbleBee Batteries a second time to inquire about the expected $500.00 Core Deposit refund since I had still received no notification and no refund. I live out of state and conducted business with Bumblebee online and over the phone. First, I'd like to thank them for their great customer service and fair-minded approach. My relationship with them got off to a bumpy start because my ex was the person who initially dealt with them and crucial information that I needed had been omitted by him while I was trying to work through the warranty process. The owner set me straight via email, going into great detail, and once I had all of the facts, I was all set; complete with an excellent understanding of what had happened, what I was being offered and why. My check engine light came on approximately three weeks before my car registration was due and the code indicated that the hybrid battery was at fault. I live in a county where a passing smog test is required and if the check engine light is on for any reason, it's an automatic fail. Once I explained my situation to Bumblebee, they put a rush on my hybrid replacement battery and it arrived with about a week to spare. I was extremely impressed and grateful. I was going to pay the dealership $500 to install it and Bumblebee helped me to see how outrageous that pricing was so I recruited a friend to help me do it and four hours and $30 later (with the help of a YouTube video) and quite a few frustrating moments later, the battery was installed and the check engine light was off and has stayed off! I'm retyping my review and for a good reason. To say that the people at bumblebee batteries are professional as heck is an understatement. Long story short I had a battery go bad that was just about to end it's warranty, and I decided to contact bumblebee batteries to get a replacement battery before the 3 year warranty was over. They took a while to get the replacement battery to me, but for a good reason; the reason being was that I contacted them at their busiest time right around when the end of the year holidays were happening. Regardless they worked with me, and they asked me for the check engine/IMA codes. And I gave them the codes. After a while they sent me the battery and a battery control module at no extra charge because they knew that the codes I sent had to do with a bad battery control module. And now I've had a good battery in the car that hasn't lost much charge even though I don't drive my 04 Honda Civic Hybrid as much as I used to. So yeah, still happy with this company. Purchased a MaxIMA battery for my 2001 Honda Insight. The first year of having it was great. Car was like new and I was getting 75 mpg on the freeway. Second year, the car was nothing special. Was only getting 60+ mpg on the freeways. I just chalked it up to different driving conditions, or habits? Year 3 I noticed significant battery degradation. Battery was depleting rapidly and car had to go into regen often. At 2.5 year mark, if I accelerated aggressively from a full charge, power would go all the way down. Battery was weak! Was only getting 50 mpg because the car was always in regen. I called Eli and told him what was going on. He wouldn't do anything until the IMA light came on, if it ever would. The battery was clearly weak and substandard and I was very upset he didn't stand behind his product when it was still well within warranty. So I spent $2K for 2 years worth of OK battery life. Ended up selling the car soon after speaking to Eli for $1000 just to be rid of it and the piece of junk battery that it had in it. Wow .... Eli rocks! Our 2005 HCH w/155,000 miles had the battery go bad. Was hesitant about dropping $2K to fix it up but I'm so glad we did. Eli arranged for an installer about 5 miles from our house (San Jose CA) and expedited it all about 2 months ago with awesome customer service! Since then we've driven another 10K and averaged 45 MPG.... After my 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid (about 260,000 miles) came up needing it's 2nd replacement battery, I researched and learned that the dealership replacement batteries are refurbished, not new, which lead me to search and find Bumblebee, that builds completely new batteries with high quality parts for less money, ordered and installed than the refurbished batteries from the dealer. I believe we got the 2nd one for the newer civics that came off the line. It's working great so far. Mileage is up already, event though it's still winter (snow tires and heater running). My wife who drives the car is happy to continue driving the car till this battery gives out, which, I am hoping will be a very long time. The company is very personable. They actually answer their phone and Eli even sent a thank you note with the batter. The process was fairly reasonable and easy, once we found a good shop that would install it for us. We owned TWO Bumblebee IMA batteries for an 04 Civic hybrid. Each one lasted no more than 2 to 2.5 years. The original Honda OE IMA battery lasted 9 years. My first Bumblebee battery was under warranty, the replacement was not, so I am stuck with a 2 year old battery that has FAILED again! I cannot recommend BB Batteries anymore, as the 2-year track record is not commendable. The deal they offered me for a refurbished unit (my 3rd BB battery) was still quite high! read more

Great service here, folks! I just put in a hybrid battery for an 04 Civic Hybrid last week from Bumblebee. They sent me a battery with NEW sticks for less than what I could get at the dealer for reconditioned ones (of dubious quality). The new battery came in a well-packed reusable box for the return of the old battery. Installation was easy and took me less than 30 minutes from start to finish and saved me from getting really hosed by the dealer for having them do basically nothing. You will need a Torx (star) bit to get the electrical service cover off, but they are easy to come by at any auto parts store. Reset the check engine and IMA lights with a scanner and the dreaded P1600 and P1433 codes haven't ever come back... After install, I took the core back to FedEx with the prepaid shipping label, and just got the $500 core return in just one week! I live in San Diego and had to drive to Arizona for several hundred miles in some pretty hot desolate weather (with the AC cranking) and the car did GREAT with the new battery. I can tell it's got more power. $2200 or whatever the total was out the door is a lot of money, but SO IS A CAR PAYMENT! Thanks Eli and the other folks at Bumblebee! read more

I bought and installed my BumbleBee Max-IMA battery for my 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid in October 2015, now its January 2016 and everything is running normally on my Civic. Yay! Eli and the Bumble Bee team has great customer service, the best part was that it was simple to order, install, and return the core (my old battery). They offered to arrange for an installer, but i am a DIYer and it was pretty simple, there are several videos out there on how to replace 8th gen Civic IMA battery. After about 3 hours to do the install i made sure it was charging up in the Civic and drove it. It drove normally and it worked - i was getting my mpg back from 32 mpg to 38-42 mpg - not bad. With the new cells it takes a bit longer initially to charge, but afterwards it floats at 50% to 90% on the BAT meter in the Civic dash. Overall I am happy to get another 3+ years out of my Civic Hybrid with the warranty (crossing my fingers). It has been about 6,000 miles since the install an the battery and the Civic its doing well. Hope to drive my Civic to 300,000 miles before having to change it out. Glad i went with Bumble Bee Batteries and Eli. Btw, Love the Thank you card in the shipment. Nice touch.
