There was only one employee working and he was very friendly and quick at making our food. The hotteok dessert was very good, it's like a sweet & cinnamon Korean pancake with ice cream. The KPOP fries came in a generous portion, I just wish there was more sauce & cheese though. The Kalbi burger (plus kimchi was also good, however, the bottom bun was quite soggy and I had to use a fork to finish it. The food was horrible. I got the KBBQ Fries. Drenched in an ocean of house mayonnaise that over powered everything. The Bulgogi beef tasted nothing like KBBQ, it was mostly fat chunks and tasted unseasoned. Fries were ultra soggy, and when asked for spicy it was nonexistent. If you are looking for authentic tasting KBBQ Bulgogi stay far away from this place because it tastes nothing like it whatsoever. Very disappointed, considering the high price. I ordered the Kalbi Combo (picture 1) which is a burger made with homemade sweet soy sauce garlic marinate topped with the same sauce, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and fried egg, with fries and drink on the side for $10.49. My friend also ordered the KPOP Fries (picture 2, I recommend ordering this by itself for one person or as a side to share, it's big!) topped with Bul-gogi (a sweet pork), cheese, onions, jalapeño mayo, and spicy Sriracha sauce. Lastly, we ordered a side of Hoduk (picture 3), a pancake with light cinnamon sugar and vanilla ice cream. I got the K-Philly with the spicy pork and my husband got the K-pop fries also with spicy pork and the corn. He loved his choices, I didnt like the bread they used, it didn't pair well it was too soft, mushy even. Maybe if it was toasted?! But at least the inside was still flavorful. read more

I don't think I ever would've stopped at this place if I was just driving by. It's in a run down area, with heavy traffic, and I don't know if I would've even known it was a good place. Once again: THANK YOU YELP!! it was delicious! CupBop is the only place I know of that does Asian fusion quite like this- but comparing the two would be an insult. It's overwhelming sometimes to choose food from a menu where the ingredients aren't super familiar. At Bumblebee's it was a breeze! We walked in and were immediately assisted to the top menu items by the cashier- and he was wonderful. He was funny, informative, and efficient. Definitely 5 stars on the service. Within a couple of minutes our food was in front of us and we dug in. The first bite was different than I was expecting and I wasn't sure how I felt about it. By the third bite, we were in love. My husband and I ordered the K-Pop fries, and the KPhilly, both with Bulgogi. so good! The KPhilly was a genius reinvention of a Philadelphian, but grab some napkins, it's a messy one! The fries were delicious as well! If the fries didn't have all the toppings- I don't think i would like the fry. It was more of a soft/limp fry- which I don't usually care for. But with all of the toppings- you couldn't notice- and it was delicious. We got the Siracha on the side because we don't really like siracha, But we put a little on the fries and it made the food so much better (didn't think it was possible)! It compliments their house mayo sauce perfectly, and gives you a little sweet to the mild spice. Overall- break away from your typical "chicken strips" or burger. Great food if your into spicy stuff. The restaurant has american / korean mix. You'll know what I mean when you get to the restaurant. I didn't expect much when I went to the restaurant. The location of the place is small but once you get inside you'll hear the Korean music and you just know that its gonna be different. Food is delish. I ordered the KPOP fries. Its fries with meat on top smothered with cheese and sauce on top. Its a bit spicy but really good. Kinda reminds me of the In and Out fries animal style just in this case the sauces are spicy and comes with meat on top. I also ordered the KP-Spicy Sandwich. Its a great sandwich with a bit of spicy in it. It has your choice of meat with cheese and hot sauce in it. Overall the restaurant is great. If you're into the spicy stuff I would prefer getting the same order I got, KPOP fries with KP-Spicy Sandwich. The price is decent and definitely worth it. I would come back here again. read more

Bumblebee's isn't riding the local Korean food wave ... it started it. Back 5 years ago they buzzed their way onto State Street and haven't looked back ... now with three locations. The first time I went to Bumblebee's a few years back (on of course, the heavy Yelp kudos), I missed their sign on the busy, buzzing State Street. It's not exactly in a restaurant-friendly area, flanked on one side by a strip-mall smoke shop, on the other by a pawn shop, to it's back four strangely located apartments, and it overlooks the Napa Auto Parts across the street. Then again, it was once home to the much-loved (but not heavily trafficked) Wasatch Moon Cafe and there's the Big City Bistro that used to be down the street, so what do I know? I digress ... let's get to the food! Bumblebee's isn't just Korean BBQ ... it's the love-child of Korean BBQ and good-ole traditional American food. They have two sides to their menu: "A-Town" menu (American fare with a Korean flare) and "K-Town" (Korean fare with an American flare). I started with their Onion Rings (the side of my $8.89 combo) ... not as heavily battered or deeply fired as your usual Rings, yet still crispy and savory. One of their complementary free sauces, spicy Sriracha, gives the rings a nice kick ... and their fry sauce also pairs perfectly. For my main, I had the Heart-Stopper: Classic burger with bacon, bleu cheese, onion rings, tomatoes, and lettuce. It's a real basic burger and simply tastes good ... no razzle-dazzle. Pouring the rest of my sauces on it does help kick it up a notch. I look forward to coming back! So many creative options and tastes. As is, it's a great lunch at a great price. I've eaten here before and I might have reviewed these guys before at a 5 Star. However today I'm only reviewing the BBQ pulled pork nachos (2 's). These are only available at the Midvale location, and maybe that's because the boring people in this area need something bland and boring to eat. Yuck! It is basically stadium nachos with a blob of BBQ pulled pork, no green onions, no sauce, no flavor. And definitely not worth $9+ Do yourself a favor and order the Bulgogi fries or fried rice balls. I tried their spicy chicken sandwich and I loved that they used chopped dark meat. Nice and juicy P.S. Everything (but the nachos) is slathered in 'spicy sauces'. So if you don't like spicy, ask for no spice. read more

It won't bust your budget and it will give you an opportunity to enjoy some unique comfort food fusion. The Mr. Kim burger is fun and funky. Kimchi, egg and jalapeno mayo top off a traditional style cheeseburger. The burger itself isn't a showstopper, but the mix of saucy, cheesy, sweet and sour definitely make it something worth trying. Try it with the Kimchi rice balls, which are really excellent. Their coating on the outside provides a firm texture without being overly crunchy. The inside is packed with flavor. I'd love to see some more drink options here. They have a soda fountain and a few bottled drinks, but wouldn't it make sense to carry on the fusion concept with some unique house made teas or fruit drinks? I'm shocked that I didn't come across this place sooner. They have a really great concept going with the American Korean Burger menu. I ordered the Katsu Chicken Sandwich and then an order of the K-Pop Fries with Bul-gogi Beef. The Katsu sandwich was incredible. It had honestly the best tasting breading I've ever had. It had a really great sweet (like maple syrup) but also salty flavor to it. I honestly can't remember having a better tasting chicken sandwich and I eat them frequently. Definitely would recommend. The K-Pop fries were out of this world. The Bul-gogi Beef was cooked amazingly and went extremely well with the french fries along with the jalapeño mayo and sriracha sauce. Easily some of the best loaded fries I've ever encountered. Place was clean and the staff were super friendly. I would highly recommend giving this place a shot. You honestly will have no regrets and will probably end up like me and start counting down the days until you can make it back out there to try more of their menu. read more

Came here for lunch on Monday with my dad, brother & sister. My sister had the kalbi burger, my brother had the KPOP fries, dad had the bulgogi tacos & I had the bulgogi sandwich. I also was able to redeem a reward for a free dessert by checking into yelp which was awesome, so I got the pecan pie. Everything was delicious and service was prompt. The cashier/waitress was so cute and friendly/patient. I love that they have the bins with sauces on the counter and don't charge extra for it. This is a tasty, tasty spot. A wonderful mix of Korean and American BBQ that leaves you wanting to return every week. It would be easy to do because the prices are awesome! I ordered the Katsu Chicken sandwich but was with a party that ordered just about everything on the menu. This chicken has such an interesting tasty flavor. It almost has a hint of teriyaki that is super sweet and delicious. We also had the K-Pop fries and a selection of burgers. The fries are loaded with toppings that pop the fries in a magnificent way. These could be a meal in themselves but because it is so good you would want to order 2! There is a bit of spice that heats up the place in just the right way. The feedback for the burgers was very positive. I will return soon to try it myself. Side note: The Vegetarian options are not fantastic (but no surprise it being a BBQ joint.) Walking in, this place is not the most esthetically pleasing. The chairs and tables looked like they were thrifted. I think that's a reason why most the orders that came in were take out. My photos are yellow tinted because that was the color of the lighting in there. The young man at the counter was very welcoming and took time to explain the menu. The K-Pop fries (they claim to be #1 best fries) tasted very similar to "CupBop". The K-noodles I do not recommend. It tasted like some sweet tomato-based sauce. I don't know how I haven't written a review for Bumblebees before now because I've eaten here many times. I live super close and it's my go-to recommendation whenever someone asks about good places to eat near my house. The KPop fries with bulgogi are amazing. No pictures to share because they are always gone within minutes. The bulgogi piled on top of fries and smothered with delicious sauces cannot be beat. I'm somewhat ashamed to say that the only things I have tried here are the KPop fries and noodle bowls. Both are amazing. I need to branch out sometime and try other things, but I usually come to Bumblebees because I've gotten a huge craving for an order of KPop fries. Ordering takeout is easy and contact-less - just did it myself a few minutes ago. You can place an order online through Yelp/Grubhub or call in and they will prepare your food quickly and leave it on a table for you to come in and grab. read more

First of all, the atmosphere is very casual, there's plenty of room and seating. The food is served in colorful plastic trays that I think is genius. The food is very delicious, but I think the newer items on the menu lack quantity, especially for the price. My usuals are a Mr. Kim burger with Bulgolgi K-Pop fries, but this time I decided to try the Dup Bop. I enjoyed my first few bites, but the large amount of cheese on top of my rice was both strange and unappetizing -- I wish there were more rice and meat. I still felt a bit hungry after eating my food, but maybe I'm just a big eater. The reason why I bumped the rating to a four star is the service. For a casual restaurant like this, I would not expect the service to be this superb. The cashiers are friendly and staffs come by to make sure you're enjoying your food. Kpop Fries: 6/5 Obviously a winner. Almost every review here mentions them. Try it and you'll enjoy it. The only downside to these is that the dish is _heavy_. Come hungry ;-) K-Noodles: 1/5 I didn't like these much, to be honest. A lot of noodles, a little meat, and very little flavor. I don't know if there was a step missed in the prep process or what, but there was no sauce or anything. Disappointing. Kimchi rice balls: 3/5 these were OK. The kimchi is really quite flavorless. Almost can't even taste it even when eating it straight from the side of kimchi they gave me. Mrs. Pa burger: 4/5 a little dry, but delicious. The sesame sauce was the bomb. Please read my previous review for a more thorough feedback on food & prices outside of lunch hours. Drink & fries with -first date -vampire burger OR drink with -loaded potatoes with meat (pulled pork, chopped brisket, grilled chicken) -pulled pork nachos -k-pop fries with bulgogi or spicy korean pork I asked for the k-pop fries double fried with spicy korean pork and fried kim chi (5.99 fries + 0.99 kim chi). It is exactly like it sounds...kpop fries with kim chi! the kpop fries itself are delicious just the way they are and adding the kim chi added an extra dimension to the fries! It's just the amount of kim chi was sparse, and it seemed like with the kim chi, there was less pork. Given that it was an extra $1 cost, it's not really worth it to trade off pork for a bit of kim chi. It was pretty good just to try, but I probably won't care to order it again. Again, the dessert was the downside of the meal. I got the chocolate brownie this time, and it was as hard as a biscotti! I started jokingly knocking it on the table, and it knocked hard. Meredith tried to break it, and it took quite a bit of effort due to its hard texture. Sweet Jenny had told the cashier about this, and she very kindly replaced it with a much better cut...one that was moist (but still not very good)! The cashier also apologized about it many times, and it was evident that she really cares! Tip 1: Ask for fries to be double fried or extra crispy and that will produce freshly hand-cut fries that are crispier on the outside and soft on the inside! Tip 2: Ask for the loyalty stamp cards! Ehhh....not sure what the hype is for this place to have 4.5 stars except that it's different than from the norm here. FOOD: I ordered the bulgogi tacos and the Kim chi rice balls. The tacos were a little on the sweet side and I was expecting heat. I added extra jalapeño peppers and sriracha. Decent meat-veggies-tortilla ratio, but I wouldn't get another taco here. The Kim chi rice balls were a cool idea. I saw this first on food network watching the Great Food Truck Race where Seoul Sausage made it a hit. The crunchy shell and soft Kim chi rice inside was a nice texture,however, I'm missing the Kim chi flavor. Boo. I wanted to try the k-pop fries but I knew it would be too much food. Didn't get the hype of this place. Got the Mr Kim burger for takeout and ate in the car. Quality wasn't very high on any of the ingredients. Burger patty was thin, and didn't have much flavor. Could've slapped together the exact same burger at home. The worst part though was that the buns fell apart in my hands. Disintegrated burger buns = no bueno. Pickup experience was also confusing. There was only one person both taking orders and waiting on tables. So even though I ordered online I had to wait in the long line for pickup. You have to get them every time you go and it's never a disappointment. Their new menu changes are the best! Makes ordering so easy now and they took out all the extra fluff that could have made it difficult to know what to order. Food: Guys this place is DIFFERENT and really good. We've never heard of having Korean fusion in SLC but this place nailed it. We got K-Pop fries (Korean bugogi on fries), Mr. Kim burger (Kimchi), Katsu burger (Chicken katsu), and they had an impeccable unique flavor and were all very delicious!! They brought out kimchi fried rice balls on the house when we sat down and we also had a free dessert check in off Yelp. Seriously nothing like this in SLC and it's a GOOD change to have something so unique. Our meal for all of this was only $21 so it's great value for your money and you won't be unhappy. We were stuffed to the brim and the food was just an amazing change in flavor compared to anything else here in the valley.
