Hokkaido Ramen Santouka has locations in California, Washington, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Virginia, and Illinois. If you haven't tried Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, you have to! This location is inside Mitsuwa Marketplace in Edgewater, NJ. The line can be long at times to order, but it usually moves fairly quickly. Anything you order will be delicious. After putting in your order, they give you a pager and it'll buzz when the order is ready. This is one of the updates this location has made. Before, you had to wait till they called your number. Another update is now this location takes credit card or cash as forms of payment. This time I got Miso Ramen. There are 3 different sizes: small, medium, and large. I got the small for $12.95 prior to taxes. The ramen has a blend smoked bonito broth (katsuo dashi) and topped with baraniku (pork belly) cha-shu, bamboo shoots, kikurage mushrooms, naruto, and scallions. The moment you take the first bite, you won't be able to stop. The broth is rich and delicious. The noodles and toppings are superb and marvelous. It's always a treat to stop at Hokkaido Ramen Santouka!

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is a solid choice for ramen and I can see why they've been successful both within Japan (originally from the Hokkaido region), and abroad. They have both stand alone stores and stalls within larger retail complexes--this one is a stall within the Mitsuwa food court in Edgewater. On my recent trip, there was consistently a line of folks in front of their stand and a few others, over the course of a couple hours while I was perusing Mitsuwa and the other stores in the strip mall. I took this cue as meaning the food was likely good and I'm glad I tried it! It took about 5-7 minutes to get to the front of the line, ordering us swift and simple, choice either a bowl of ramen, or a combo meal with side of rice bowl, and marinated ramen egg. Food is served on trays and they call your receipt number to pick up food at the ordering counter. Open booths and tables are shared with the rest food court. My friend and I split two ramens $13.95 each--a shio (salt), and a shoyu (soy sauce), both medium which was a hearty enough meal since we made one of the orders a combo B (extra $6.50 for this combo)--cooked shredded salmon topped with ikura (salmon roe) over rice. The rice bowl is small though they gave a generous serving of fish and roe on top of it. The ramen was a good texture, enough of a bite without being under or over cooked, good body, could've been just a tad more firm for my preference though overall not bad, reminded me of local ramen joints in Japan. The broth was also rich and flavorful, a little on the salty side as most ramen broths tend to be, though not as heavy as let's say Ippudo and a few other tonkatsu-based broths; I ended up consuming about half of it. There are several other food options here though I'd definitely come eat this again if I was in the area.

The food is good and filling. However, it's not really a restaurant -- it's more of a food chain with a food court setup. It can get pretty crowded, especially since it's located by the supermarket, so just keep that in mind if you guys are planning to eat there.

You really cannot go wrong with any of the vendors in Mitsuwa Marketplace, but Santouka is definitely one of our go to spots whenever we visit. I won't go in depth into the different combos and offerings, but Santouka specializes in a delicious variety of different ramen bowls + combo ramen and rice bowls. The menu might make your head spin, but if you look carefully at it, it's quite organized and easy to comprehend. They basically sell either just ramen bowls in small, medium, large sizes OR combo ramen + rice bowls. The combo ramen + rice bowls tend to be around $20+ and it might seem pricey, but it's actually quite worth considering the amount of food you're getting. So far, every time we've ordered from here we've been extremely satisfied. Like I said, I won't go into all of the different flavors of broth and ramen they have, but you definitely won't be disappointed.

When I spotted this place, I knew I had to try their ramen. One of the coolest details? They have a display wall showing the ramen options, so you already know exactly what your dish will look like before you order, I love that! The service was excellent, friendly, welcoming, and very helpful with recommendations. And the ramen itself? Amazing! Rich flavors, great texture, and perfectly satisfying. This will definitely be one of my favorite spots in Edgewater from now on this place is a must-try!

Delicious authentic ramen! Fast service and generous portions. Great value. I was not feeling well so my body was craving something warm and cozy for comfort, this was perfect. It made me feel so much better right away. I got the Miso Ramen, broth was rich with thin noodles perfectly made. My mom got the Spicy Miso Ramen and she said it was really good too. Not too spicy. My only complaint was that the piece of pork was tender BUT fatty. They could choose a better quality. Definitely coming back.

Santouka Ramen has never missed for my family and I! The noodles are always fresh and chewy, the broth is perfectly hearty and salty (and so good for a cold day). We usually get the sake and Ikura rice, and there's a decent amount of salmon and roe vs rice. Also love the braised egg that comes with the set. For about $25 for a medium set, it's a good price and the set is very filling. Ambiance is basic and can get noisy, it's inside the Mitsuwa food court. No complaints about the service, they always give us what we need, and at least compared to when they first opened (and would often have waits up to 45 min - 1 hour), the food comes out fresh and rather quickly now, within a few minutes. Well keep coming here when we go to Mitsuwa.

First time having some fresh ramen. I got the pork which was outstanding. Service was fast and friendly.

One of the best ramen spot in the Tri-state area. It's authentic, it's pipping hot and it's freaking delicious. Things to know: 1) wait time is insane.... Up to 30 mins after order is placed 2) finding seats in the food court is a journey against the world 3) their original tastes the best. Their soup is hot and rich, noodles just al dente, meat tender.... And You can't ask for a better flavor. A must try. Deliciousness:

Good ramen. Large is a good size. Their spicy isn't very spicy. Reasonable cost but the toppings they give you are tiny. Rough times for the economy perhaps. Otherwise delicious meat and good ramen broth.

I've been here only a handful of times since I was young(er) because the line was always crazy long. This time we got really lucky, no line, and plenty of seating in the dining area--that's pretty rare! I remember a while back you'd pick your ramen and wait for your number to be called, now they have restaurant pagers. Convenient. When it's up, grab your tray and head to your seat! What's fun is that if someone isn't in the mood for one thing they can head to another food booth and order there but if you're lucky you got ramen at Hokkaido. The menu looks overwhelming but they just list every variation you can get so that you just have to know the dish or combo# to repeat it back to the cashier. The cleaning crew are efficient, the place is loud and busy, but it's casual, it's quick, and it's tasty!

Probably two decades too late with this review since I have been coming here forever for their delicious ramen. Stopping by a few days ago reminded me of how much I still enjoy their offerings. My go to bowl of noodle is their large Salt Toroniku Ramen. The broth is salty (in a good way), rich, has great depth, and full of umami. Their thin noodles are well cooked and the tender pork cheeks are absolutely delightful. Btw, $2.50 is a bit steep, but get the soft boiled egg as an add on. On this visit, I also got a F Combo, which included a Mentaiko Rice Bowl and a hard boiled egg (upgrade to soft boiled egg for $1). I paired it with a large Salt Char Siu Ramen. Though I still prefer my regular order, this is still a very good set. Enjoyable! Long story short, if you are nearby, come and try their excellent ramen. After all these years, I have never been disappointed and still look forward to this experience whenever I can.

Looking for something to warm up your body in the chilling cold? Or perhaps something that is good, simple and consistent? Ramen tends to be a go-to for me and Santouka delivers. The menu is simple, you choose a broth, and the add ons of which you'd like to make to the ramen should you want any. If you can't make up your mind, Santouka won't disappoint. Taste: 4.5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Value for money: 4/5 Expect to pay around 18-20 a ramen bowl (with taxes roughly) We had the normal shio ramen and a toroniku ramen which is a ramen bowl variant with a couple extra meats it seems. When ordering, the egg does not come with, and so a separate add-on will need to be made for it.

It's been years since I last ate at Jin Ramen, and on a weekend evening I found myself looking for dining in the neighborhood which led to a stop by here for takeout. Ordering online was easy, their website provides clear descriptions of each item with prices. They're available on almost all online platforms as well (Seamless/Grubhub, Caviar. DoorDash etc). Food was ready in 30 minutes, securely packed to go. Prices are definitely in the higher side and inflation hasn't helped. While the portion size is quite generous with plentiful chunks of tender chicken, caramelized onions, shiitake, scallions and tomatoes, $28 felt like a lot to pay for the Pollo Encebollado Ramen. The broth reminded me of a light salsa verde and was a flavorful albeit imo slightly too salty take. The chicken was delicious and definitely a highlight of this bowl. The Chicken Nanban $15 appetizer came with eight pieces of fried, marinated chicken, glazed in a tangy sauce. While tasty it was somewhat generic. The Kuro Shio Ramen $23 was a lighter broth, with several sizeable pieces of chicken, more of a classic flavor profile here with a tad hint of citrus and chili. The poached egg was cooked perfectly. I might return if in the area though wouldn't go out of my way to drop by.
