Spicy jjajangmyun (#4 on the menu)
    Jane C.

Inside the Hackensack Hmart is a food court. And inside that food court is this humble little food stall, where I go whenever the craving for a bowl of Korean black bean noodles hits. Jjajangmyun is a popular Korean-Chinese dish made from black bean paste, meat, and diced vegetables. When I'm suddenly fixin' for that slurpy bowl of saucy noodles, this is where I come. Why? Because it's close to my commute, it's quick and casual, reasonably priced, and consistently good. As an added bonus, there are lots of other offerings in the food court in case my eating mate didn't want to eat the same thing. Ordering is simple. Go to the counter, place your order, and they'll give you a receipt with a number. If you find seats nearby, there's a little screen at the stall that tells you when your order is ready for pickup. If you end up sitting far away, don't fret. There's an automated loudspeaker that clearly calls out stalls and ready order numbers. My go-to order here is (of course) the jjajangyun. The menu offers a small variety - regular (with meat and veggies), uni, and spicy. Spice lovers, you're going to love the spicy jjajangmyun (#4 on the menu). The jjajang sauce is also delicious on rice, and I've loved the shrimp fried rice with it. Serving sizes are decent, and it comes with the tiniest cup of yellow pickled radishes (a standard condiment for this dish).

One of several food vendors inside the Little Ferry H-Mart. Menu is of the Chinese-Korean variety. Service is quick and the food is generally decent at a reasonable price. There's ample seating, but does get crowded during the weekends.

These noodles. Theeeeese noodles. These noods. The noodles that are these ones. These noodles, your majesty. Noodles, these.

The restaurant is inside H Mart, Little Ferry. They have very good JaJang Myeon, for $11.99.

Agreeable service, and quicker than expected. We got the vegetable jajjangmyun and the seafood jambong. The jambong was a definite win, good amount of seafood and vegetables and lots of broth. The jajjangmyun was a bit sweet for my taste but still satisfied the craving.

We came close to closing time so thankful that they were willing to take our order and serve us. I got the jajang myeon here, and I found it pretty mid. There was a good amount of sauce but I didn't find it that flavorful. There was also very little meat in it and they were very small and kind of tough. The portions are on the larger side, and if you're not too hungry or don't eat a lot you could probably split a bowl of jajang myeon with someone else. Come Again? Probably not, there's plenty of other options in the food court and around this area that would probably be much better.

WoW and more please! This noodle spot is more than just noodles. Try the Kunpao or Orange chicken/shrimp. Very flavorful with the right amount of batter. The sauce is sweet and spicy with more on the spicier side. The rice was sticky, but a bit firm. Not sure if this is the way they cook their rice. Fried dumplings were awesome. This dumpling is made up of pork and fresh vegetables. It's crispy on the outside, but so juicy on the inside. I had to ask for some type of sauce, because it did not come with anything. The sauce is your basic soy sauce. I feel that brought the dish down a bit. If they had a signature sauce or something more than just soy sauce it would kick the dumplings to a new stratosphere. FYI: There was a bit of a wait, but it was worth it.

Solid little noodle shop within the H Mart food court in Little Ferry. The sauce is sweet and savory without being too salty or overpowering. Portion size is excellent, the only thing I wish they gave more of was the pickle daikon to the side. Definitely will be back to try the spicy seafood noodle.

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

Still tastes great with the rice Bibingnaeng (8/10) - Really solid cold noodles with beef, pear, and cucumbers? Great way to finish off the meal.

If you are coming here, you are coming for the soups. My ultimate go-to is the Dwaeji Gukbap (pork in ox bone soup). The broth is deeply flavorful, rich, and incredibly comforting. I also highly recommend their Soondae Guk (blood sausage in ox bone soup) and the classic Seolleongtang (ox bone soup). You really can't go wrong with any of their traditional broths. The service is fantastic, fast and always friendly. Prices have gone up a bit, but they now offer a discount if you pay in cash, so it's definitely worth bringing some bills with you. There's no lot and street parking in this area can be a little challenging though.

Service (5/5): We had a small mix-up where some combo on the menu said spicy brisket with oxtail soup. The person apologized for not clarifying and helped us pack the food to go. Ambiance (4/5): Solid shop with wood decor and food pictures. Not the fanciest looking but looks traditional and nice.

That gave us enough time to have the place to ourselves and order literally everything they could think to serve us. This was easily one of the best KBBQ experiences I've had. The Budae Jjigae was savory comfort, and the Shin Ramen Fried Rice was not only abundant, but served in an adorable heart shape. Even the Kimchi Stew and Gyeran-jjim were more umami than the countless counterparts I've had elsewhere. On top of that, we got more ban chan than an attention-starved halmoni hosting her first family reunion in 10 years. Everywhere I pointed my chopsticks, I touched food. It was delightful. The space…read moreis pretty clean and the atmosphere a nice vibe, but the food was a pretty meat heavy menu and I would love to see more vegetable options. I honestly prefer Gyu Kaku, but I do see potential for this place. A huge suggestion would be to add a sauce station as we only got 2 sauces for all of the meat, and it got a little repetitive. Another one would be to slow down the cooking process. The meat was coming really fast and it overcooked on the pot. Again, more vegetable varieties would be great, as it was mostly kimchi. If you go, I'd definitely recommend the marinated meats over the plain ones, because, again, the sauce! I'm pretty sure it was the sauce that goes with Korean seafood/scallion pancakes if you know what that tastes like.
