Spicy jjajangmyun (#4 on the menu)
    Jane C.

Inside the Hackensack Hmart is a food court. And inside that food court is this humble little food stall, where I go whenever the craving for a bowl of Korean black bean noodles hits. Jjajangmyun is a popular Korean-Chinese dish made from black bean paste, meat, and diced vegetables. When I'm suddenly fixin' for that slurpy bowl of saucy noodles, this is where I come. Why? Because it's close to my commute, it's quick and casual, reasonably priced, and consistently good. As an added bonus, there are lots of other offerings in the food court in case my eating mate didn't want to eat the same thing. Ordering is simple. Go to the counter, place your order, and they'll give you a receipt with a number. If you find seats nearby, there's a little screen at the stall that tells you when your order is ready for pickup. If you end up sitting far away, don't fret. There's an automated loudspeaker that clearly calls out stalls and ready order numbers. My go-to order here is (of course) the jjajangyun. The menu offers a small variety - regular (with meat and veggies), uni, and spicy. Spice lovers, you're going to love the spicy jjajangmyun (#4 on the menu). The jjajang sauce is also delicious on rice, and I've loved the shrimp fried rice with it. Serving sizes are decent, and it comes with the tiniest cup of yellow pickled radishes (a standard condiment for this dish).

One of several food vendors inside the Little Ferry H-Mart. Menu is of the Chinese-Korean variety. Service is quick and the food is generally decent at a reasonable price. There's ample seating, but does get crowded during the weekends.

These noodles. Theeeeese noodles. These noods. The noodles that are these ones. These noodles, your majesty. Noodles, these.

The restaurant is inside H Mart, Little Ferry. They have very good JaJang Myeon, for $11.99.

Agreeable service, and quicker than expected. We got the vegetable jajjangmyun and the seafood jambong. The jambong was a definite win, good amount of seafood and vegetables and lots of broth. The jajjangmyun was a bit sweet for my taste but still satisfied the craving.

We came close to closing time so thankful that they were willing to take our order and serve us. I got the jajang myeon here, and I found it pretty mid. There was a good amount of sauce but I didn't find it that flavorful. There was also very little meat in it and they were very small and kind of tough. The portions are on the larger side, and if you're not too hungry or don't eat a lot you could probably split a bowl of jajang myeon with someone else. Come Again? Probably not, there's plenty of other options in the food court and around this area that would probably be much better.

WoW and more please! This noodle spot is more than just noodles. Try the Kunpao or Orange chicken/shrimp. Very flavorful with the right amount of batter. The sauce is sweet and spicy with more on the spicier side. The rice was sticky, but a bit firm. Not sure if this is the way they cook their rice. Fried dumplings were awesome. This dumpling is made up of pork and fresh vegetables. It's crispy on the outside, but so juicy on the inside. I had to ask for some type of sauce, because it did not come with anything. The sauce is your basic soy sauce. I feel that brought the dish down a bit. If they had a signature sauce or something more than just soy sauce it would kick the dumplings to a new stratosphere. FYI: There was a bit of a wait, but it was worth it.

Solid little noodle shop within the H Mart food court in Little Ferry. The sauce is sweet and savory without being too salty or overpowering. Portion size is excellent, the only thing I wish they gave more of was the pickle daikon to the side. Definitely will be back to try the spicy seafood noodle.

Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

TLDR: Definitely go visit if you want some spicy flavorful soup alongside some really tender meat! It's delicious. Food: There is so much flavor packed into the Pork Bone Broth Soup that we were shocked when we tasted it! I couldn't stop drinking it. They give you rice on the side to eat with the soup. It's actually quite a large serving for a decent price. I do think the side dishes could be better, there are only two varieties they serve: Kimchi, Kimchi Horseradish, and Beansprouts. None of them stuck out. The Jokbal is delicious if you like pig trotter. Would not recommend for most eaters unless you want something new. Service: Nothing too crazy about the service. They came back for refills which is great. They were very nice and since it was busy they had to keep moving around. Nothing outstanding but solid work. I do feel with some Korean establishments there is a language barrier but they understand english well enough for foreigners to go. Environment: Newly renovated building gives it a sleek, modern look. It's very nice, seats are fine. Only issue is they had flies here and there that will go after the food. So please be prepared to be on the lookout. It's the primary reason we docked a point. The line was out the door so maybe they came from outside? They definitely need a better system for that though if it's a consistent problem.
