Firstly, I'd like to state that I'm disappointed that I even have to write this review. I've been a long-time customer (5+ years) at Buona's Pizzeria and previously have not had any issues. They have good pizza, but as I've come to find out, terribly rude customer service. My coworkers and I decided to get a pick-up order for our lunch on 3/12/21. My coworker placed the order and one of us were going to pick it up. The coworker was met with annoyance and acted as if we were inconveniencing them. We quickly forgot (5-7 minutes after the order was placed with a phone log to prove it) that our one coworker couldn't eat meat today. We called back to ask if we can change our order to a calzone without meat and my coworker was very rudely responded to with cursing, lack of understanding, and terrible customer service. She quickly called back after the second call to cancel the order because she no longer felt comfortable picking it up. When asking for a refund/cancel the order, she was told she could pick up her refund at the police station because he was calling the police to file harassment charges. It was our mistake that we messed up the order but we very quickly tried to correct this. This sort of service is just unacceptable and I will no longer be a customer at Buona's pizza. Good pizza is not equivalent to harassment and verbal threats. My coworker's credit card was charged prior to pick up and now we have to go through disputing the charge all for wanting a nice Friday afternoon pizza. read more

As I was placing an order I heard sighs of annoyance through the phone from the individual taking my order (not sure if it's because of lent and they were busy or because it's a Friday or what) but I still placed this order due to the high recommendations from co-workers and because we've gotten pizza from here in the past. After the order was placed my coworker called to adjust part of the order about 7 minutes later and was cursed out and threatened to have the cops called on her because she wanted to adjust one item on the order. I will never order from there again nor will anyone I am friends or work with. It's sad to have to not support a small business during these crazy times but I feel people should be aware of how they treat some customers. not sure if the police were contacted, but I wanted to advise potential customers so they are not in a similar situation. read more

This is one of my family's favorite pizza places. I hadn't been there for years just because of the difficult parking situation, but recently found out they are delivering! Now we order a pizza most Friday nights from them. They have one of the best round pizzas in the area. read more

Thicker crust version of NY style, very good pizza. Restaurant is clean and service is great. Parking is tricky but love the old school video games. Kudos for using real cheese, no "blend" here thankfully. read more

Absolutely best pizza in Scranton. I have been getting pizza here since I could chew food as a kid. The recipe and look has not changed which is a huge plus. This is the type of pizza where you don't even have to ask for extra cheese, they make it perfect. read more

It's true, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover! I did. We were starving and pizza sounded like a good idea, walking up to Buona's I was thinking that thank goodness I was starving because it doesn't look like this will be that great. Boy was I wrong! Great Pizza when ever I come to Scranton I always get a pie

Big, greasy round pizza. Pretty good. Just get it to go. You'll feel like you walked into a pizza place in 1975 when you go to Buona's.

Brooklyn style Pizza at it's finest. I have been getting pizza here for as long as I can remember and outside of the price NOTHING has changed. The same 2 guys are always there. They will box your pizza with a cigarette hanging from their mouths and you hear that 1980's pac man machine in the back round. I think the fact that it doesn't change is what makes it so cool. Not sure if the food is good or not, Called for Delivery, and they said ok, tried to order a Chicken Parm Hero, no bread, but they cant do that for delivery. Tried to order a Salad, No Salad today. What a waste of time and energy. The guy on the phone's attitude was not really interested in taking my order or delivering to me. I would not recommend. read more

The pizza is great. The delivery times are complete works of fiction. They.ALWAYS say "about an hour." Could be 20 minutes. Could be 3 hours. And the guy who answers the phone really needs to learn how to speak to people on a phone. But if you want some really great pizza, but don't care when it gets to you, this is the place. read more

I've been a customer since they first opened their business. The pizza is as good today as as it was back in1968. One would be hard pressed to find any better NY style pizza in this area. Just because I accidentally called the wrong location does not mean that you should be talking down to me like that. I have a college degree and you answer the phone in a pizza place. Don't be worried about the little one-story grey-cinder-block building it's in, cuz you can't judge a book by its cover. The best pizza in town. the place is old school but, in a weird way, that's that's part of the charm. New York Italian. find a clean booth and eat it there while it's hot. No A/C in the summer, but that's ok. I grew up eating it and I go back as often as i can. read more

my coworker ordered lunch today for everyone since we heard good reviews. about 7 minutes after the order was placed, I had to call to change an item, as my one coworker does not eat meat. the woman that answered told me there was nothing they could do about it and passed the phone to a man. the man was incredibly disrespectful and cursed me out. he accused me of calling "30 minutes ago" and it "not being his fault we don't know what we want" - I checked our call logs and I did in fact call 7 minutes after the order was placed. he ended up cursing me out and told me he doesn't want customers like me. I work in food service part time and I have never treated a customer in such a way due to a mix up in an order. after he hung up on me, I called back to cancel altogether but he told me he was calling the local police to file "harassment charges" and I could pick my refund up there. I was completely speechless. I was uncomfortable and did not want to pick up the food at that point. my coworker is in the process of contacting her bank to dispute the charge. whether he was having a bad day or not, that was not the response anyone should give to their customers if they want them to return. I advise everyone take their business elsewhere - there are plenty of other delicious pizza locations that treat their customers with respect. read more

I am very picky when it comes to pizza and Italian food being from New York but Bouna has some of the best in the area. I have tried the Pizza, Calzones, heroes and some of the pasta dishes, all of which were good. The service was great also. very friendly staff. read more

Convenience is not best when it comes to great food. When it comes to Pizza these guys do it real justice. Two weeks ago i ordered Dominos against my better judgement. Ya the they have a fancy website that you can order pizza from with all the topping options and never have to leave your couch or call to ask for a run down on options. What i got for 25 dollars was resemblance of a pizza. I will speak no further on that subject but only to say that i paid less at Buona Pizza for a larger much higher quality tasting pizza that deserves my undying loyalty.
