I was in the mood for a craft burger so we were off to try Burg & Barrel. I left a little disappointed -- the burger patty and fries were not fresh. We got the Cowboy burger and added the "my girlfriend isn't hungry" which is 2 chicken tenders and extra fries. The chicken tenders came out hot and fresh but that was the only fresh item we got. If you are looking for a solid hamburger this is your spot. They have many different choices of hamburgers. I ordered the Spicy Avocado which was good, I only wish the chipotle mayo actually had a little kick to it. I upgraded to sweet potato fries which were very good, I wish they were accompanied by some sort of dip as opposed to just ketchup, but they were fine. I had never been to Burg & Barrel before but was already impressed with their ability to accommodate my grieving uncle in his last minute search for a facility to host a lunch after my aunts funeral. The food was delicious (ESPECIALLY the chicken tenders and ranch!!!) and even though I live about 45 minutes away, I would make the trek back for lunch/dinner some time! Julian was the server put in charge of our party and he did a great job keeping drinks refilled and anything else we needed. Anytime food ran out, the staff moved quickly to get items restocked. Burg and Barrel is a great place to grab a boujee burger. They have a wide variety of craft beer on tap and also in cans and bottles. They always have good options on tap that you can't always find at other places. They also offer cocktails and such if you're not into beer. Food wise, there's something for everyone. They have burgers, duh, but also chicken, wraps, and vegetarian options. I mostly stick to the burgers but others I've dined with have had a few different offerings and I've never heard a complaint. My favorite is the PB&E burger. Certified Angus Beef patty, Applewood smoked bacon, Carolina reaper cheese, peanut butter, sriracha & over easy egg. It's such a unique combination and I love all the flavors. They have more classic burgers if peanut butter on a burger isn't your thing. The tots are also always good! There's lots of tvs that have on all the sports ball games on and the service is always friendly. And it's always clean even when it's busy. Burg and Barrel has good food and fresh. Today I had their Grilled Chicken salad with walnuts/cranberries and goat cheese and it's always been fresh and very good. Their salmon salad is excellent also. My husband loves their burgers. The service by Emma today was very good. She is professional and nice with the right amount of checking back on any needs or refills. The vibe is casual and relaxed with music playing in the background. Came here for lunch shortly after it opened so we were served very fast by a friendly guy (sorry I always forget names) I got the Spicy avocado burger. It wasn't spicy at all, but it didn't matter I loved it. A very tasty big patty of angus beef that comes with Applewood, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle cilantro mayo, Be sure and get extra napkins, it's very juicy. My brother secured the event space at Burg & Barrel in Overland Park at 76th and Metcalf to provide lunch for family and friends who gathered to celebrate the life of my sister-in-law. The space comfortably accommodated the 50+ guests who attended the gathering. The food selection was really good and perfect for lunch. Our server, Julian, was friendly, courteous, and efficient while single-handedly taking care of the drink orders and anything else the guests needed. They also often have prizes - this time KC Bier Co was giving away swag, and they also offer free beers during bonus questions. I ordered the Loaded Spuds appetizer, somewhat hesitantly because it just described them as tater tots with toppings, but WOW, these were the BEST tots I've ever tasted. The pepper jack queso on top was so so good. The portion was generous too. I split it with a friend and it was very filling. I highly recommend this app! We also ordered chips and salsa, and while they tasted fine, we were a little disappointed in the comically small portion size of the salsa. Hidden gem in a strip mall. We stopped in for a quick bite during errands, and had 2 appetizers, Totchos and the fried goat cheese with chimichurri. Both were hot and fresh. It seemed all the Totcho toppings ended up in the bottom of the bowl, and some fresh pico de gallo would add a lot. As we left we saw a 5-inch high burger being served, we'll return to try it out. When you see Burg & Barrel online, you might think blue collar joint. Go to places across the country like Founding Fathers in Buffalo, Gooski's in Pittsburgh or the Green Lady lounge right here in KC and you will get old school places that have become Instagram cool, some by being who they are, others it is more manufactured. I'm not sure what Burg & Barrel is. It seems to have a bit of a local crowd, but it also has the rust belt hipster crowd as well. However, what many of these places offer is an old school dining experience, something that is right up my alley. I didn't realize it until I pulled up, but I had been here before, around 10 years ago and I vaguely remembered it being good, so I had some expectations going in. I ordered the Smokehouse burger with a beer and my bill came out to around $28 with tax and tip. While they get a thumbs up for serving the Yuengling Hershey Porter (PA got to support PA) the burger itself was disappointing and perplexing at the same time. It was extremely greasy to the point it ate through the tomato and lettuce and dissolved the bottom bun, but biting into it, the burger itself was on the dry side. Not very good, without much flavor and required a knife and fork to eat. The fries were okay, but they tasted like fries you can get anywhere, including the frozen food aisle and the portion was on the small side. The service was okay, courteous but impersonal, considering for a while, I was the only one at the bar. Like in many bars, I noticed that the servers like talking more to themselves than with the customers. In a recent review, I raved about the service I got from Atomic Cowboy down the street, B&B could learn a bit from them. In 2015-2016 when I was here last, this area was pretty bare and choices were slim. Now, with the resurgence of downtown OP, there are many choices and places have to up their game. read more

A little while back this guy Jake took all the most recommended burger places in the KC Reddit and put them in a Google Map. I saved it and am trying to work my way through. Jake, your efforts are not wasted. Anyway, Burg & Barrel is on that list and here we are. My husband & I went for lunch on a Monday at about 1:30. It was not busy. The pub atmosphere and extensive beer list made my husband wish he hadn't stopped drinking. He was impressed. We ordered the Bleu Moon burger with fries and the Bourbon Glaze burger with onion rings. Both burgers were supposed to be medium and were served well-done. Big difference and disappointing. They were still pretty good but not what they could have and should have been. Also, the Bleu Moon was seriously lacking blue cheese. We split the burgers in half so we could each try both and my husband asked "Does yours have any blue cheese? I can just barely taste it." My half had hardly any. The Bourbon Glaze burger had great flavor but also needed more of it. I would get that again with extra sauce on the side. The onion rings were beer battered, huge, and delightfully crispy. The fries were fine. We did tell our server that the burgers were overcooked and under-dressed and she was polite but didn't seem very sure of what to say. We weren't angling for discounts or a redo we just thought the kitchen should be made aware. I don't want to slag a locally-owned restaurant, but a burger place should know the difference between medium and well-done and be able to execute it. Checked out Burg and Barrel for the first time iver the weekend. We mainly just came for apps and drinks. There is area for indoor and outdoor seating. The business is easy to find and there is a good amount of parking available. We were seated and ordered very quickly. We ordered the fried pickles, fried mushrooms, and the totchos to start. All were amazing and had a great beer batter texture and taste. On Sundays, they have $3 mimosas that are really good. They have a section for mock tails and non alcoholic drinks as well. Burg & Barrel is a solid sports bar/American food restaurant. I appreciate some of the unique menu items and takes on classic items like the Tidal Wave wrap (wrap with fried crab and eel sauce). I got the Chimichurri wrap. The steak was cooked well but the wrap as a whole didn't have a ton of flavor. They also have a good rotating draft beer selection. On Friday nights, flight are $4 off. I didn't realize the flight would have been $20+ full price otherwise I probably wouldn't have done it. Service was good and the atmosphere was good as well. Came in with the Mrs around dinner time on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. The drinks were delivered pretty quickly. I tried a couple different brews that were interesting. It was a rainy day in Kansas City. Even when darkness settled in, it was raining off and on. Thankfully, my friend and her husband introduced me to Burg & Barrell - Overland Park. It's been an awful nightmare we call Covid-19. Haven't seen my best friend since 2019 and after 3 years, we got to hang out with each other here in the Overland Park area of Kansas City. With that said, they picked me up from my hotel and took me to this place for dinner and to hang out on a brisk rainy Monday evening in October 2022. When we entered, it was after 7:30pm and the dinner crowd had largely came and gone, I think. We were seated promptly and immediately near the entrance. I got to see part of the Monday night football game that was playing live, since it was based on time zone and it didn't dawn on me that I wasn't at home anymore lol My experience here at the Burg & Barrell - Overland Park was very nice and got to sample up 2 beers and a Long Island ice tea. Seems like people make the Long Island ice tea pretty tame, since it doesn't seem to kick in like how others seem to talk about the after effects of the drink. I sampled 2 local beers and that aforementioned Long Island ice tea and didn't get asked for identification. Maybe I just look old already, which sucks. It is what it is. The main entree was basically the Bella burger. Can't go wrong with a burger, can you? I ordered it rare. The taste was pretty good and the company that evening was even better. My mom and I went mid afternoon on a Thursday. She'd heard about the reviews and wanted to check it out. We inquired about a table that would not be right by speakers-as she wears hearing aids and loud background sound makes it difficult to hear and have conversations. I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to accommodate because it is a sports bar. Our waitress-Alison, knew the menu well. She was so friendly, and extremely patient while we were trying to narrow down from all of the options that we wanted to try. I hope to go sometime when there's a football game atmosphere. 5 stars because the food was amazing, very clean/bathroom was kept up! And a bonus for finding us a table that didn't have a speaker right above us.
