We stopped by after smelling the burgers cooking from the parking structure of our hotel. If staying at the JW Marriott or any hotel close by and you find yourself in need of a late night snack, this would be an okay option. Order at the counter using the kiosk, staff member or order/pay online with your phone...it all works. I would suggest sticking to the regular burgers or cheeseburgers. The extra cost for the Waygu is unwarranted and does not improve your experience. We couldn't even tell it was Waygu. We took our order back to our room and it was just fine. You can eat on the street on the patio, but it was a touch chilly. Fair warning, if you don't stand at the right place while waiting, you will likely smell like burgers for the rest of the night. read more

We went to grab a bite to eat after a late flight in checking into the hotel. You were able to customize your order on the tablet, from adding different cheeses to topings, and it was made fresh and fast right infront of you. Very friendly staff, fries are decent (much better with their burger sauce.) Now the important part: the burgers I had a double Wagyu beef "smash burger" or so it claimed on the kiosk menu. It wasn't bad at all by any means, but I wouldn't call it a smash burger. It wasn't flattened and crispy, just thinner and pressed. And for it being 100% American Wagyu they were a little bit dry and not as tender as I would have hoped. All in all, it was a yummy late lunch but my hopes were much higher. My interesting observation is this place does sit right off a main busy street with the grill area wide open and people walking past the open kitchen concept nonstop all day. Burger Bar is a walk up service restaurant offering greasy late night eats. From burgers, sides like fries and onion rings, and shakes. The burgers featuring all wagyu beef with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and a special sauce which I also added bacon. I also got an order of sweet potato fries the fries were great. This is definitely a late night spot as the night got later this place got busier and the line got longer. I remember seeing this place when I stayed in DT Austin several years ago, and it's still here. This time around, I was in town for a concert, staying around the corner. There is outdoor seating, but there is inside seating too, just look to the right of the place and there's a sign on a door. The people behind the counter were nice. Now for the food... I ordered a cheeseburger that came with fries and a strawberry lemonade. My burger was burned mostly on the edges with a dry interior. The toppings on the burger were very fresh though. The fries were hard although hot so my assumption was that they were over cooked, and the strawberry lemonade tasted like water with strawberries in it. I also ordered chicken tenders with honey. Mustard and barbecue sauce because I wanted to try them, and some of the seasoning on the chicken tender was burned, and the tenders were very dry. Needless to say, but I won't be back. read more

I had low sodium issue. I informed them of this for my french fries they put my burger on the counter, so it got cold while my fries were cooking. I had to ask them to make a fresh burger so it would be hot with my fries, then they had to make me new fries . Unfortunately, the bacon they use is called pre-cooked. I had read previous reviews that gave it four stars so that is why I went there not impressed and I worked in the food industry before and they disregarded me on my food safety when I brought my concerns to them. I would not recommend this spice just for that reason when I got my food to go I brought it back to my hotel. I don't think I ate more than an eighth of my food as it was not very edible. read more

Not a good burger. It was terribly salty and the fries were soggy. It's an expensive burger for barely any meat either. The cook didn't turn around or greet us and there was no one at the register, so basically you order on an ipad and are asked to tip for not even being served. Also, with the kitchen practically open to the street with just a counter and no wall, I'm honestly surprised this restaurant is still operating under decent health code regulations. I would be shocked if there weren't roaches or rats crawling around the kitchen. This place is just plain gross and shouldn't be operating in such a high food caliber city as Austin! There's really not too much to say about Burger Bar other than it's a fricken great classic burger. As a native west-coaster, it reminded me of an extra yummy in-n-out burger with all of the classic flavors but a slightly bigger burger patty (which is a fantastic upgrade in my book). The place is really decently priced, the food comes out fast and fresh (you can watch them cook it right in front of you), and if you're craving a burger this place will 100% hit the spot. After watching the bats fly away in Austin it was great to stop and get a fast and delicious burger! This place was really good!! The bun was so fresh and delicious! I got a cheeseburger and was super impressed with the sweet potato fries. The agua fresca has a lot of mint in it and it was a bit overwhelming but it wasn't bad. Their menus said they had vegetarian options but when we got there they said they didn't have any vegetarian options so it might be good to call in and check if you need vegetarian options.
