The $5 cheeseburger deal can't be beat. The burgers are the perfect size for me, a little bit smaller (or more normal-sized?) than your average burger nowadays, but packed with that nice slightly sweet, charbroiled flavor. The fries are--oh wow, as soon as I get them I don't even wait until they've cooled down, I pop those scalding pieces of deliciousness into my mouth because they're just so good and individually crisped, but full of fluffy potato goodness. And the owner is so nice and will talk to you while you wait for your burger to be cooked. Minus one invisible star for not having cherry Fanta anymore T_T But anyway, Burger Basket is a place all people who call themselves Arcadians and Monrovians should frequent at least once in their lives. Fresh and tasty, the issue is portion size. For $7.75 I got a Double Burger that really was the size of a single burger at other places. The flavor and sauce are great just too small. Also the fries are good, salted nicely but again only a small handful of fries are given. Also they are cash only, in this day and age how do businesses survive being cash only? My favorite part about that is it remains virtually identical to it's original opening. A DELICIOUS and simple menu makes me forget about In N Out. I'd much rather seek out The Basket. I have to say that this little Mom and Pop hole in the wall is one of the best burger joints I've eaten at. Burgers are fresh and never greasy or sloppy OR soggy. Pickles and yellow chili peppers with every order. $5 will get your a cheeseburger combo w/fries and a drink. Can't beat that! By the way CASH ONLY! It's small inside with limited seating. Most of the time you can score a seat outside if you don't mind the Duarte Rd traffic whizzing by. I love them for how simple and straight forward they are... Nothing flashy, just simple and fresh. If you imagine the taste of fresh beef pattys, melted cheese, tomato, lettuce leaves in between 2 toasted sesame buns spread with 1000 island... that's a Burger Basket Double Cheeseburger. We tried their burgers because of high rating. In good faith, we ordered a pastrami sandwich and a steak sandwich for $26. The pastrami sandwich was very very dry. The steak sandwich has a spoiled smell. To avoid food poisoning, we decided to throw both sandwiches away and to ignore that we just wasted $26. As a resident of Monrovia, I've always passed by this local burger joint. Decided to finally give it a try. The picture that a fellow user uploaded of the menu here is a bit outdated. There is about a fifty cent raise increase. Most likely due in inflation but still very affordable. Ordered the combo number one which is basically the cheeseburger, fries and a drink. Food came out promptly. I decided to eat at the joint and yep. This is a place where you have to eat the food while it is hot like everyone said. It's fresh. Lettuce is crunchy and every bite is just SO GOOD. One star docked down for apathetic service though. Probably because it's been a long day and slow (I was the only one in here)? They say it is a 1/4 lb but it must shrink a lot on how they are cooking because the patty would remind you almost of In-N-Out size, which is only about 2 oz. The burger itself is fine, they have a good sauce and it is fresh...if you go to the restaurant you can see them making the orders as they come in but I have to knock this place one star just because of the small patty. read more

This hole-in-the-wall place is a hidden gem! I've passed by this place hundreds of times but never gave any thought into trying it. Decided to come here one night to satisfy my burger-loving boyfriend's craving. It turned out to be delicious! The flavor of the burger and fries were on point. The whole meal was super affordable. $5.50 for a cheeseburger combo and $6.50 for the double cheeseburger. The patty is somewhat on the thin side, but for $5.50 you can't expect much. It doesn't look like a lot of food from the pictures, but it is actually really filling. I thought this meal was well worth the value and I left this place feeling even more satisfied than I would have been if I ate In-n-out. Two stars because of plenty of parking otherwise maybe zero if it's allowed. I always support the small shop if it's convenient for parking. I lived in Arcadia for 20+ years because of the convenience surrounding with bunch of restaurants. Unfortunately the food quality of this place it will not bring me back for the second time. At least for myself but not sure after your first try if you haven't. First off the menu is simple but the prices could be confusing and if you ordered off from the back wall menu it was from 1-14 combo I believe looks like it will be charged higher than a laminated one lay on the counter It's basically the same foods menu. Please correct me if i'm wrong but this review mainly on the foods quality that I expected but big disappointed. Fish and chips are both overly fired. I saw the chef pour the raw fries in to the flyer but left it for quite a bit too long while preparing like 5-6 other orders. Got the onion rings okay should never be go wrong but not complain but why it come out to very little to zero onion taste!? Again heavily over cooked in the flyer. It feel eating a bag of lay's chips even better. I'm not picky but the price it charged for 2 lunch combos $28 out the door from a fast food stand (this is not a restaurant at all i can say). Sorry i know it's hard on business cost but it was way overpriced vs the foods taste delivered on my table. I would not hesitate to drive 3 minutes up northbound to Huntington Drive flooded with foods choices! Better taste better quality better price. With this being a small family run business, I can't expect their prices to be super competitive with In N Out or McDonalds. There was a lady who takes orders/gets the drinks and two cooks on the grill. Their menu is pretty bare, with no veggie options, but hey, come here if you want a BURGER. Their ingredients were all fresh and they use their own thousand island sauce. The fries are the thick cut kinds and they have small spicy peppers on request (like the ones from In-N-Out, but saltier). Oh, and it comes with half a pickle! Soooo good!
