My friend orders the grilled cheese and tomato soup. She said that was only ok. We shared the onion rings, and although the flavor was spot on, our bunch was a little soggy, so we asked if we could switch to a side of the tots. The tots were really great! They treated me with a lot of respect they checked in on me multiple times very friendly. I sat at the Front. They greeted every person as they came in and left after eating a fantastic burger I had the classic burger and onion rings. And did not disappoint. I'll be sure to tell all my friends. I frequent very high-end restaurants, and I consider this to be a very high-end establishment and definitely will be visiting it again with my friends, even though I don't drink it's a fantastic place to hang out great vibe. It's all about the food. Excellent burgers and salads. Stoked to have such a good place move into the downtown Vista area. It's worth the drive if you don't live close. Food quality has been super consistent. All ingredients and meals taste fresh every time. I'm not a huge fan of blue cheese but the bench burger just has a little on it to set the tone. Not overpowering. With the included bacon, grilled onions and mushrooms, arugula, and bbq sauce, it's a great choice. The bacon they use is top shelf with amazing flavor. The smokehouse is another stand out burger. Haven't tried the chicken sandwich yet but I plan on it next visit. Fries are good, the chicken used on the salads is really good. Their house made sauces are fire. Service has been good each time we've been. The help seem happy to be there vs what you see in other establishments. The person taking the orders has been supportive of food allergy issues, offering substitutions and suggestions. They have a really nice beer selection that covers about all your desires. Shakes look great but haven't tried one yet. We've been there three times in the last few weeks. We'll be back again. read more

We arrived about quarter to nine pm on Wednesday February 26th, 2024. Not busy but probably 15-20 people in there. Eclectic crowd. Had never heard of Burger Bench but figured we'd try the new burger place that's close to home and we're glad we did. Order at the counter service and food delivered to wherever you sit down type place. My bride and I each got the Patty Melt and it was fantastic. We should have read the menu a bit closer as we'd have passed on the green peppers but that's our fault. Didn't matter and we didn't pick them off. The Patty Melt was absolutely fantastic. Burger a perfect medium. Patty was maybe a little small for the large and completely delicious toasted and crispy cheesed bread slices with lots of melted cheese inside. I might opt for two patties next time. There will definitely be a next time. The chili was very good but nothing mind blowing. I should have spiced it up a little but I was already full so most of that came home with me and I'll make a chili omelette in the morning. We did a half and half with onion rings and sweet potato fries. Hot. Crispy. Perfect. The garlic aioli was a nice sauce and very, very garlicy (is that a word?) I do wish they offered a simple American swill beer like Coors Light. I'm not a huge craft beer guy. My bride wanted a glass of wine but they only had Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay. No worries and we both just had water. Prices were about average. Everywhere seems expensive these days I guess, but they were no more, or less pricey than the other places within a couple of blocks. I can't remember what this place was before it was Burger Bench, but they did a nice job fixing it up. It's nice, bright, and clean inside with a friendly staff to greet you and food to back up the good service. We had a little trouble finding it and a sign up higher on the building might attract more people driving by. If you're walking down the sidewalk you can't miss it though. read more

The food here was so good we came back the next day for lunch! The staff is incredibly friendly, and offered great suggestions. I loved the mini sliders- when you can't choose between the artisan burgers, you can sample three.
