I was checking out a yarn shop in the strip mall yesterday and they were having a knitting and crocheting event and giving out 50% off ice cream coupons to burger city. After reading some reviews of this place, I decided to try it out myself for lunch. It's a cute trendy burger and shake place that has a lot to offer. The ambiance was what I would describe as a fusion of traditional burger joint and modern aesthetic. I was greeted by very friendly service the moment I walked in and the men working there looked genuinely happy to be there. I am confident that if I couldn't decide which thing to order, they would have asked me questions (like "which sandwich do you identify with most" style questions) to help me decide. I found one on the menu that sounded interesting and ordered the Maui Chicken Sandwich and a side of fries and a drink. The chicken sandwich was delicious (8/10) with a really good sauce, 2 generous pineapple slices, lettuce, a well seasoned chicken breast, and a burger bun. The fries weren't blowing me away, but they were still good fries. Thick cut and salted. Fries were a 6/10. They had a good selection of beverages for the soda fountain. They also offered bottles of Sprechter root beer and cream soda, and something else I can't remember. I got ginger ale from the fountain and ate inside. The a/c was working well and I was the only person in there for a while. The men working there engaged with me for friendly banter. About 20 minutes later, it started getting busy and customers were saying how delicious everything tasted. I'm not from the Lisle area, but my friend lives about 4 minutes away from that restaurant and I had her meet me and she said she had been wanting to try this place. I saved her some fries and she likes thick cut salted fries the way I like well seasoned curly fries, and said she'd be back to try more next time. I wanted a burger one particular evening. I didn't want to drive far, so I said I would give this place a try and I am glad I did. A nice place for date night. Accommodations are suited for that. If you don't want gas that either McDonald's or White Castle burgers will give you, this is your place. Everything I got was decent and enjoyable. The burger were good. Chargrilled like I like it and thicker than a BK burger. Fries were good and I would get the onion rings again. Their burgers are better and thicker than Shake Shack, too. My husband and I craved burgers for dinner. We checked the Yelp reviews of burger places nearby. We settled on Burger City as the reviews were very good. We agree! My husband had the bourbon burger while I had the bacon cheeseburger. Both were made to order. The patties were juicy and had crispy edges from being smashed. The meat flavor was delicious! We also ordered cheese sticks and onion rings. The portions were generous and both side orders were delicious! It's a counter service restaurant and the staff are very pleasant. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!! This place is horrible!! I ordered food via DoorDash and I did not receive the correct order. I wish I could give zero stars but I have to give 1 I called the restaurant and the manager told me that it was not possible the order was wrong because he packed it himself and if it was wrong it was because the DoorDash driver or I ate the food. I explained that the bag was sealed when I received my food and I had not eaten anything yet. I proceeded to tell me I was a liar and that he didn't care about me or my order being wrong, that he was too busy to care and then hung up the phone. I called back and he said if I continued to call he was going to call the police because I was harassing him. So aside from the HORRIBLE customer service....the food was just as bad. Have I told you lately how much I LOVE Burger City? They serve THE BEST, fresh, burgers & chicken sandwiches around - and they do it FAST! Our favorites are the bourbon burger & Maui burger (or chicken, it's offered for both). So juicy and flavorful!! Their fries are AWESOME, too!! If you check them out online, be aware that their viewing menu is different from their ordering menu. The ordering menu is their full menu, with all of the chicken sandwiches listed. It took them less than 15 minutes to have our online order ready. It took us less than 10 minutes to eat all of our fries on the way back to our house :). It's a local gem. My hubby and I were out in this area today so we decided to try something new and we were so glad we picked this place. We got the portobello burger and the egg burger (but exchanged the cheese for cheddar because it just makes everything better, which this was not a problem.) We cut these in half and split them so we could each try and we both were so satisfied with these burgers. Probably some of the best damn burgers we've ever had honestly. Cooked to perfectly with great sear but still juicy. The portobello mushroom was just perfect and huge. The buns were fresh and not stale at all. The egg burger had a Chipotle ranch on it that was sooo good!! I wanted to buy a bottle. The burgers were pretty big in size too, so recommend ordering a single until you know how much you eat. We also ordered a small 6pc order of the garlic parm wings just to try. They were cooked super crispy, definitely pan fried, but without being super oily/greasy. (We love this style) The sauce is clearly house-made, and SO good. I was actually dipping my portobello burger in the garlic parm sauce that was left over. Oh! And decent sized wings too. Sometimes you get tiny sized wings for ridiculous price. We did have to try some fries as well; burgers and fries, they just go together. So we got the Cajun ones. The seasoning was delicious but damn you have to like and be able to tolerate a kick. I'm not saying it'll kill you by any means...but they are not for the weak stomached. The Cajun burger felt like I was eating saw dust due to the large amount of seasoning they put on it and my wife got the bacon burger. The bacon was a step up from raw...way undercooked. Short of it: Quick weekday lunch spot that serves a tasty burger with fresh hand-cut fries, priced similarly to Portillo's. Long of it: Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted warmly and given a walkthrough of the menu. For large fries, a single-patty Bourbon burger, and a large drink, I paid around $15, which is what you would pay for at Portillo's. Food was ready in 10 minutes, and this was when the lunch rush was starting. Ordered at 12:20 PM, received my food by 12:30 PM. My food was delicious, though a bit on the sweet side. The combination of caramelized onions and Bourbon sauce may have tipped the scale on the sweet side. Really wished there was a sharper cheese to offset the sweetness instead of the Mozzarella and Cheddar added, or maybe if the Bourbon sauce was a bit more acidic. I've dined at this restaurant a couple times. Recently I placed an online pickup order on the Burger City website. When I went to pickup the food, the (Muslim) guy working at the counter asked if I meant to order zabiha. I said yes. So he said they would REMAKE the meal - which I appreciate, thank you guy with curly hair. Apparently I was supposed to make a note of it in my order. But it didn't ask me to do so on the website. And I've never been asked the previous times I've dined in - I do "look" Muslim so I'm guessing it's automatically assumed. I wonder what happens if a Muslim customer doesn't look stereotypically Muslim. Does Burger City rigorously train their employees alongside the TSA so they can identify the secret, covert Muslims? The most cost-effective way would be a simple update on your website. It would reduce food wastage, save money, and your employees' and customers' time. Just have a checkbox for "halal" when the customer is selecting the burger on the website. That's it. No need to go crazy and buy user data from the MuslimPro app to cross reference against your customer database. Burger was decent and cajun fries were pretty good. Need crispier beef bacon! I've been trying to decide how I felt about our trip to Burger City. I've decided it was an okay trip. I did enjoy my burger, but overall as just okay. I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger. I felt the burger and bun were just good, but nothing extra special. The bacon was beef bacon (which they told me and I said it was fine), which I ended up picking off. Turns out beef bacon is a bit weird and (at least my pieces) were mostly stringy fat. The rest of the toppings were cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. We ordered fries which were an additional cost. Do you like Portillo's burgers? If yes, than you'll like the burgers here. Exact shaped frozen burger charcoal grilled and topped with the exact condiments. Cheeseburger here is $7.29, Portillos is almost $2 cheaper. The big difference is convenience and quality of service. The owner here is very friendly and speed is very fast. It's the old Subway location. Some of the interior elements are exactly the same. The front door is hard to open since it drags on the tile floor. There is a smell of sewer drain as you enter. The overhead TV screen menus are worthless since the entire menu is attempted to be shown. They do offer paper versions to everyone that enters.
